Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

Thanks @Kiki061190 I’ve had a few symptoms again the last couple of days, feeling exhausted and have that horrid metallic taste all the time. They seem to come and go though 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it must be the age thing or the fact you’re unwell @Catconfusion but it’s great they’re monitoring you so closely, in other trusts women struggle to get one early scan. The GP was sceptical they’d take me as my only symptom was “anxiety” but they couldn’t have been nicer.

Catconfusion · 15/09/2019 16:13

I’m wondering if it is the hyperemesis @bananamonkey She seemed very concerned I was being so ill and made it clear I could be admitted if need be. We were really impressed too and pleased to get so many follow up scans. We weren’t expecting it at all.

TeapotsLoveYouLots · 15/09/2019 19:44

Thanks ladies, its good to know you're all here and know how the anxiety is.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone and like someone said upthread, today we're pregnant.

I've got a drs appt tomorrow so going to talk it through with them, see about an early scan etc.
I want to ask for blood work for the hgc as that was the main tell with the mmc, it barely rose let alone doubled, but I'm also worried that it's going to set me off worse if it's not "as good" as it should be.

Throughout this whole minefield I'm wishing us all lots of sticky baby dust and the power to just bloody breathe!

Catconfusion · 15/09/2019 22:08

Hey @TeapotsLoveYouLots good luck at the doctors. If you get a referral for a scan and they find a heartbeat your hcg has to be a certain level. I’m not sure if the GP or EPAU would check it if the ultrasound looks good. You can certainly ask and express your concerns. I hope you get seen very soon! Xx

Kiki061190 · 18/09/2019 14:55

Hi ladies! So sorry I dropped off the face of the Earth the last 3 days, a lot has been going on and I only wanted to post once I had some clarity on the entire situation. I didn’t want to trigger anyone because I know MN can sometimes cause more worry and anxiety. Here it goes...

Sunday I wiped when going to the loo and had the tiniest amount of red blood in with my discharge. I didn’t particularly panic at that moment but I spoke to OH who was adamant I should phone the NHS 24 which I did. I honestly thought they would just tell me to call the early pregnancy unit the Monday but they actually insisted I come straight to the hospital and get checked over. Now there was only a GP there so he ran some urine tests, blood pressure, heart rate ect and all came back fine but he was absolutely insistent because of previous MMC that I have another scan ASAP.

I called my EPAU Monday to self refer and bless them, they are so ridiculously busy but they made sure that I knew they wanted to see me. My 12 week scan was only 18 days away at this point so I thought they would just tell me to wait but they didn’t and told me to come in today at 2pm. In the meantime they wanted me to rest, take paracetamol and use a heat pad to soothe any pain I have been having. I did want to post about what was going on but was concerned there’s some pregnant ladies on the thread and didn’t want to bring on any anxiety for them or trigger any bad memories for the other ladies.

I forgot to add I have been having awful shooting pains up both sides for weeks now and it had intensified the past few days! I’ve just been trying to keep a level head and not assume the worst until I had the scan today.

I had my booking in appointment this morning with a midwife. They just went through standard questions and deemed me low risk. I told them about the scan today and they said a second MC in a row is unlikely and if it does happen it’s deemed more as ‘bad luck’ than anything else.

We just had our scan and thankfully baby is doing fab! We got to see it moving about and we got a picture of he or she away with us. Feeling super relieved as there was a few days there I was nervous. Our next scan is 2 weeks tomorrow and that will thankfully be our 12 week scan!

Puppymum · 19/09/2019 09:31

Hi,
I hope you don't mind me joining. I read through your thread and it sounds like you are all somewhere on the same journey as me. And tbh I could do with someone to talk to.

I have had 3 miscarriages in the last 2 years, 6 weeks, 8 weeks ectopic self resolving, 12 weeks needing emergency surgery.

I'm currently 9 weeks with attempt number 4. It was very much a surprise bfp, as I was mid investigation with the recurrent miscarriage clinic and we slipped up with our contraception just once!

I had an early scan because of previous complications at what I thought was 6+3 but nurse said I was 7+2 and saw the heart beat etc. I think that is worse, knowing that if/when this one fails, it definitely did have a heartbeat and I saw it. She gave me a picture, but I've not looked at it, it's hidden in a drawer.

I had some nausea from 7 weeks but that all stopped on Monday. And everything else seems to have stopped too, my boobs are a tiny bit sore but that's it now. So now I'm awaiting the inevitable. My next scan is Saturday and I'm dreading it.

I must sound like such a mess, I am a mess. I just wasn't prepared for this pregnancy and I don't think I'm ready for another loss.

TwinkleStars15 · 19/09/2019 10:04

Can I join you please? I’ve just taken this test this morning and I think it looks like a faint positive? I think I’m only about 10dpo so very early.

I have a wonderful 2 year old daughter. I fell pregnant when she was 6 months old and found out at my 12 week scan that baby had died the week before Sad I had to have surgery as things didn’t happen naturally, which was all very awful. So now I’m scared again! If it’s okay with you I will linger here a while and read back through the thread.

bananamonkey · 19/09/2019 10:25

Sorry you had a worrying experience @Kiki061190 but great that you had a lovely scan, the next one won’t be long! I wouldn’t worry about triggering anyone on this thread since we’ve all been though the same shitty experience and all have the same worries x

I had my MW yesterday too and amazingly the scan appointment came through already this morning! Mine is 7th Oct. I don’t know how I’ll actually be able to go through with it after last time.

Sorry for your losses @Puppymum and @TwinkleStars15, there’s lots of helpful ladies here, it’s a great place to vent.

Good luck for your scan @Puppymum

I can see a line @TwinkleStars15, I had the same experience as you at the 12 week scan followed by surgery, it was awful and has made this early pregnancy a horribly slow and anxious experience.

bananamonkey · 19/09/2019 10:28

Sorry that sounded really negative @TwinkleStars15 I just meant I can emphasise with how you’re feeling, it’s tough but we’re stronger than we think x

Kiki061190 · 19/09/2019 12:33

@Puppymum Hi! I completely understand how you must be feeling, especially after so much loss. It’s hard to remain positive but the ladies on here always remind me this is a different pregnancy and the odds are in your favour! Everyone on here has been super helpful so don’t worry about talking about your feelings.

@bananamonkey Thanks so much. I’m feeling positive now as we’re past the point out twins stopped developing and midwife seemed positive!

@TwinkleStars15 Hi! That does look like a faint positive to me! Congrats ♥️ I was at a midwife app yesterday and they said the chances of a second mc in a row are slim so keep faith that this will all be ok!

@Catconfusion How are you feeling today? Sickness still bad?

@sadtoday21 How are you? Anxiety any better?

TwinkleStars15 · 19/09/2019 13:35

@bananamonkey thank you, don’t worry I didn’t take it the wrong way! I know what you mean. Does it get any easier?

@Kiki061190 thank you! I really hope not, but it’s still hard not to worry isn’t it?

It’s a faint line so I’ve bought a Clear Blue Digi to do tomorrow morning Confused

bananamonkey · 19/09/2019 13:53

@TwinkleStars15 it has got easier. Having mini-milestones has helped so every week that passes makes me feel better plus having a scan last week was nice and calmed some of the anxiety that had been building.

The 12 week scan is obviously a bit of a trigger for me but I feel like this time if it was bad news at least I’d be a bit more prepared, last time was such a bombshell, especially after 1 healthy pregnancy.

This has been the slowest 3 months of my life though 😂

sadtoday21 · 19/09/2019 19:14

@Kiki061190 I’m so sorry you went through that, it sounds like a horrible situation! Very glad all was well in the end and that you have your 12 week scan booked in soon. Thinking of you ❤️

Welcome @Puppymum and @TwinkleStars15! You’re in the right place here. Very sorry for your previous losses, we all understand too well how anxious pregnancy can be after that. Here for you if you need to vent!

15 weeks tomorrow for me, been away for a short vacation and it helped me take my mind off things a bit. Midwife booked for Tuesday to listen to the hb again, really hoping all is ok and she can find it. Otherwise just counting the days down until the 16 week scan, hope the baby is still ok...

Hi all, can I please join? Lovely idea to set up this thread. I'm 30 and almost 14 weeks EDD 21st March. 10 years ago I had a MMC at 16 weeks and had to give birth and it's frightened me to death. Me and dh caught with this pregnancy after 2.5 years of TTC and being on fertility tablets so needless to say this pregnancy is a miracle for us. As I'm approaching my 16 week point my anxiety is getting worse than it did at the start of the pregnancy and I'm feeling scared.

Puppymum · 19/09/2019 20:20

Thank you all for your kind words.

@Jesskir89 I'm not surprised you're terrified. Are you having any extra scans to help reassure you?

I'm having such a panic filled day. With no symptoms left to reassure me I am just assuming the worst. And now I have a bit of cramping which I suppose could be bloatedness but I don't know.
Is it OK to lose symptoms? I can't really remember previous times. At the moment I really don't want to go to my scan, I'd rather not know. I want to find a hole to crawl in!

Cherylinaa · 19/09/2019 20:45

Hi ladies. It's crazy how many people have been through bad experiences. I am 33 years old. Had a missed MMC in 2015. A healthy pregnancy in 2016 and now have a beautiful DD. Trying for our second and had another MMC in June this year 😭. Now 5 weeks pregnant and have the worst anxiety about what will happen. The wait is just awful.

Kiki061190 · 19/09/2019 21:52

@Puppymum I definitely find there is times I go maybe a couple of days without any symptoms then they come back! Don’t let that worry you too much, although I know it’s easier said than done!

@Jesskir89 Hi and welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy. It is a completely anxious time especially after you’ve suffered a loss. The ladies here always remind me that this is a new pregnancy and it doesn’t mean it’s going to end badly again. Fingers crossed for you ♥️

@sadtoday21 15 weeks! Wow! Time does fly! Hopefully you’ll hear the heartbeat and that will make you less anxious. Are you having a gender scan?

@TwinkleStars15 Unfortunately no, the worrying never stops 😫

TwinkleStars15 · 20/09/2019 07:07

Smile Haven’t told DH yet! Might wait til this afternoon when we both get home from work.

Does anyone else have a bump @Catconfusion @bananamonkey ??? We’re all around the same time in 1st trimester, i swear I have a little bump but it’s totally obvious to me and it’s making me self conscious 😩

Catconfusion · 20/09/2019 19:27

@Kiki061190 I’ve been in maternity clothes for the last few weeks. My tummy is huge. Completely obvious bump. Apparently my mum was the same, showing very early. I don’t have any bottoms that fit apart from maternity jeans and I got some maternity dungarees. Arh it’s so sweet you have a little bump. I’m sure it’s there if you’re conscious of it! Xx

Kiki061190 · 20/09/2019 20:30

@Catconfusion These last two days I have considered buying maternity jeans and I’m like it’s far too early! I don’t want to jinx things! But the bump has just appeared 😳

sadtoday21 · 20/09/2019 20:53

@Kiki061190 still in my normal jeans at 15 weeks, but also had a tiny bump way earlier on! I just tied my hair elastic around the button and that is still doing the trick, despite bump getting bigger! Other options besides maternity wear are stretchy jeans or leggings. I also bought two sweaters on one size up for comfort, but nothing that is actually maternity wear per se. I totally understand your reluctance to buy maternity things and I feel the same way. How many weeks are you now - 10?

OP posts:
bananamonkey · 20/09/2019 21:03

@Kiki061190 I have a bit of a bump but can hide it quite well as I tend to usually wear skinny jeans with looser tops. I can’t fit into my work trousers but jeggings are still fine. I think first time round I bought maternity jeans at 14 weeks but didn’t need tops for a while. My best maternity jeans ripped when dd was 5 weeks old and I’m still upset about it 😂

Jesskir89 · 20/09/2019 21:17

@puppymum yes they're giving me a reassurance scan in 2 weeks so I'll be 16 weeks then and also growth scans from 28 weeks. How far gone are you? Symptoms do come and go. @kiki061190 thank you and same to you too. @twinklestars15 congrats :)

Kiki061190 · 20/09/2019 21:41

@sadtoday21 Yes just over 10 weeks and it’s just appeared the last day or so quite obviously. It’s quite hard when you touch it too! I might give the elastic band thing a try. I can still get my jeans on but I honestly I think I’ve got a month max left in them!

@bananamonkey I usually tuck everything in so I’ll need to start wearing looser tops out. Any recommendations on where to buy maternity jeans?
