Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

Hey @Kiki061190 thanks for asking but much the same really. I’ve avoiding being sick today but really tough. My tummy was raw so trying to give it a rest. Just been avoiding anything that might trigger it and eating very carefully. I had the dentist as I managed to break a tooth. Apparently it’s common in pregnancy. It might be the vomiting that weakened the tooth. It was so tough opening my mouth and having him fill the tooth without vomiting.

It’s a good sign you have food aversion. Absolute classic pregnancy symptom. It’s a shame if you haven’t been able to enjoy the food though. Not too long until your scan! Enjoy the rest of your holiday! Xx

sadtoday21 · 10/09/2019 17:13

Thanks @Catconfusion! I heard the hb which made it all worthwhile. I made two recordings for DH and midwife even said she heard it moving around! And she said I can come back in two weeks to listen again. Hopefully this will hold me over until the scan!

Glad your holiday is going well @Kiki061190, not long now until the scan!

That’s great @sadtoday21 I’m so glad she did that and is happy for you to come back. It makes such a big difference. Hopefully it won’t be long until you feel movements. xx

Kiki061190 · 11/09/2019 20:34

Hi ladies how are we?

@Catconfusion I ended up sick 4 times today on our trip to Amalfi! I just couldn’t even hold water down which is so odd. I just can’t seem to eat at all without feeling nauseous. Are you the same? I’m anxious about going back to work on Monday like this as I don’t think I’ll manage!

@sadtoday21 How has the anxiety been?

3204ECL · 12/09/2019 08:36

Hi all, sorry for the absence seen mega busy and totally exhausted since getting back from holiday.

@sadtoday21 yes we came home to our results which were low, huge relief! How are you doing. Have you received yours yet? Sorry to hear you had to wait so long at the midwife but amazing you heard the heartbeat, it's so wonderful isn't it! Our little one was moving around a lot so it was hard to hear but in between all the swooshing you could hear it beating away!

@Catconfusion sorry to hear you are still struggling with sickness. Sending lots of love and hope it starts to ease soon. Baby grows sound very cute!

@Kiki061190 hope you have a lovely holiday and enjoy some relaxing time together, it did us the world of good!

@mommato3 Lovely scan photos 😍 glad everything is going well.

@bananamonkey how are you doing?

A little update from me, I'm now 19+2 and certainly looking quite pregnant and fully embracing the maternity wear now! We have our 20 weeks scan next Tuesday and the anxiety is starting to creep in quite a bit now. Can't wait to see our little boy again but also anxious about all the tests etc. I'm feeling more movement now which is nice and also helps with a bit of reassurance.

Love to all, nearly the weekend!

xxx

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 09:00

Hey @Kiki061190 yes sounds very familiar. It’s a delicate balance between getting enough fluids and being sick due to a heavy tummy. Ice lollies are good for hydration. Honestly if you’re feeling that nauseous I’d take some time off work if you can. Tiredness will make it worse. You might need some rest now. You could try the medication. It might work for you. In the meantime eat small bland meals or anything you really fancy. I’m finding a mild small portion of Spagetti Bolognese good. My DH is getting veg into me by chopping them up and mixing them in. Snacking on biscuits and crackers is good. Try not to let your tummy get completely empty. Flat lemonade helps too. I hope it passes quickly for you. I think the hormones peak at 10 weeks so hopefully it’ll get better after then. Xx

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 09:06

Hey @3204ECL thank you. It just is what it is. I’m coping as well as I can. Great news you’re nearly at your 20 week scan. It’s understandable the anxiety is still there but you’ve passed so many hurdles. This time next week you’ll have seen your little boy and it’s overwhelmingly likely all will be well! Xx

sadtoday21 · 12/09/2019 10:13

Hi @3204ECL! Congrats on your test results! Mine were also low :). I can appreciate how the anxiety would creep in a lot towards the 20 week scan - when was your last scan? It's so exciting that you are showing now and feeling movement!

@Kiki061190 that's great news, I'm so jealous! I hope you feel better soon, but you must be feeling reassured now that you have symptoms?

Hope you are feeling better @Catconfusion! How many weeks are you now?

Well I am 13+6 today and think I may be starting to pop a bit in earnest. There's a big difference between now and 12 weeks anyway. Strangers still don't know I am pregnant, but sleeping is starting to get a bit more uncomfortable! I am also breaking out more suddenly, which is weird because I didn't in the first trimester so assumed all was fine. It has me pretty worried, but I am wondering if maybe the drop in hormones could be causing it as I enter the second trimester? My body doesn't like sudden hormone changes (its the shift that triggers it, more than whether it is high or low, I think). Anyway, not much to be done, but wish it would go away! Otherwise anxiously waiting for movement to start.

OP posts:
Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 12:05

Hey @sadtoday21 I would say it’s the hormone drop. The pregnancy hormones peak at 10 weeks as the placenta takes over. Not very pleasant but I’m sure nothing to worry about. Hopefully the movements are just around the corner.

I’ve been sick a couple of times today so still not great. I had a good day yesterday. I’m 9 and a half weeks so not long until our scan end of next week when I’ll be nearly 11 weeks.

I still haven’t had my 12 week scan appointment come through. I’ve just left a message with the midwife to find out what to do as I don’t want to go over the point we can have the screening tests. Last time I had it much earlier. Can’t help but think the midwife hasn’t completed the referral. My understanding is you fill in the online referral and then the midwife confirms the pregnancy at the booking in to trigger the appointment. We need to know so DH can get the time off for it. Hopefully it’ll be ok and we’ll get it soon! Xx

Kiki061190 · 12/09/2019 13:01

@sadtoday21 I oddly feel a lot better today! Still not eating much but no sickness thankfully. All that heaving nothing but stomach bile up is just horrendous! How exciting you are starting to show! Baby bumps are just beautiful ♥️

@Catconfusion I’m definitely taking your advice and seeing how I am when I get back. I just can’t work like this! Thankfully my work are great in these situations so can’t see any problems if I did require time off. Sorry you are still being sick! I am feeling much better today thankfully! You are a strong woman, I had one day of sickness and it was just awful!

sadtoday21 · 12/09/2019 13:25

Thanks @Catconfusion! I hope its just that. Good that you are chasing up the 12 week scan letter - mine got lost the last time and I had to call lots of times to ensure I was seen before 14 weeks. My midwife never sent the referral properly and I just assumed she had. You constantly have to advocate for yourself, unfortunately! Can't believe you are 9+5 weeks already Xxx.

@Kiki061190 glad you are feeling better today! Is the anxiety easing?

I don't know about you ladies, but I find MN to be a minefield these days. On the one hand, I don't like hearing about MC right now, even from those ladies who have suffered so much and really deserve good news, because it heightens my anxiety. On the other hand, I absolutely hate reading pregnancy posts about anxious women who have NEVER had a MC and are just worrying for no reason about all the things that I actually DID have and went through a few months ago. I just find it insensitive. But maybe that's me being too sensitive? I don't know, could just be the hormones talking!

Kiki061190 · 12/09/2019 13:59

@sadtoday21 I think the anxiety has eased because I’m on holiday but ask me that in a week 😂 it’s only 3 weeks today until my 12 week scan! I know what you mean about MNet! It can make you more anxious and also because we’ve been through a bad experience with our first pregnancy! We are all doing this a second time around now and hoping for the best!

CuriousNoah · 12/09/2019 14:05

I had an early miscarriage a year ago right before I got pregnant with my son who is now 7 months. Even though it was an early miscarriage at 5 weeks it really affected me more so because it made it worry whether this will be the route all my pregnancies will take. I have friends and family members who had suffered multiples miscarriages and I could see how difficult it was for them.

However I realised everyone's situation is different and I now have a beautiful baby boy so there's definitely hope after a miscarriage.

I have recently starting blogging about my pregnancy and parenting experiences on:

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 15:12

@sadtoday21 I rang the hospital after the midwife told me they were probably busy seeing other ladies (pretty patronising). By my lmp I’m 12 weeks next week so was sure I should have received something by now. I found out the letter was sent the end of August so it’s got lost. My scan was booked for next Friday. I told DH and then we suddenly realised I will only be 10 and a half weeks in reality because I ovulated late so they won’t be able to do the screening tests. I called back and luckily they could rebook for the beginning of October. Annoyingly it’s our wedding anniversary weekend so I’m just hoping it’s good news. We’re back at the EPAU end of next week so I guess we should have a good idea of how things are going. I’m glad it’s all sorted now though! Xx

sadtoday21 · 12/09/2019 15:24

@Catconfusion wow that's really similar to what happened to me, good you chased it up. Good luck for your EPAU scan next week!

I just realised that you, me, and @Kiki061190 all have scans the first week of October. Hope the time flies by between now and then! Xxx

OP posts:
Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 15:35

Yes I’m really glad I did too. The midwife seemed to think I was being alarmist but obviously there’s a finite window when the screening tests can be done. Also DH needs to get time off work. I should have got the letter two weeks ago. I’m glad we get a bit more time before the dating scan. The EPAU are amazing so pleased we can go back there again first. If there was bad news I’d rather get it from them.

Yes it’s going to be a tense week for us all. I’ve got a feeling we’ll all be fine though. We’ve just got to get through the run up! Xx

Kiki061190 · 12/09/2019 15:40

@sadtoday21 @Catconfusion I can’t believe how long you ladies have to wait for a scan letter! I got mines in the post with the booking app also in there! I just phoned up the self referral and they ask you to hold and come back on the phone with your dates and hospital ect there and then! The letter is just to confirm. I’m nervous for a bad news scan 🙄 we all go through that though I guess! Need to put my big girl pants on and just get through it no matter what.

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 15:48

I know @Kiki061290 Last time I got it really early so I bet it didn’t get posted even. It’s also a bit problematic going by LMP for the referral as I’m sure I’m not the only one with irregular cycles. Good job I was on the ball and this isn’t my first rodeo or we would have wasted our time next Friday. I wish we could get the dating scan over and done with next week way before our anniversary but it’s just too early.

Just do the best you can with the anxiety. It’s completely normal to feel this way. Just so hard to bury it completely even though chances are very good. I’m sure we’ll all have good days and bad days in the run up. Have a lovely last evening if your holiday and I hope you’re ok on the journey home! Xx

3204ECL · 12/09/2019 16:52

@sadtoday21 congratulations on your test results as well! My last scan was at 17+3 so its been a couple of weeks now. Holiday was a good distraction but the anxiety is definitely creeping back in now and imagine it will more over the weekend as DH is away! Have you got another scan planned?

@Kiki061190 sorry you've been suffering with sickness but glad you're feeling a bit better today. Hope it doesn't ruin your holiday.

@Catconfusion frustrating about your scan appointment, sounds like it never got sent to me! Glad it's sorted and you managed to get the dates right as well.

Xxx

Kiki061190 · 12/09/2019 17:02

@3204ECL I can’t believe how far along you are! I remember you posting your original pregnancy test picture. Time has flown! ♥️ Awww thank you so much. I’m so much better today. It’s odd as I can have days of feeling great and worry I’m not pregnant and then days of feeling awful!

@bananamonkey How are you????

Kiki061190 · 12/09/2019 17:03

@Catconfusion You are so right about the anxiety. I’m 9 weeks today and it’s 3 weeks exactly until my scan. We can make it to the first week in October!!!!

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 18:27

Yes we can @Kiki061190 although I’m lucky to have another scan with the EPAU end of next week so that’s going to help. I’m hoping they’ll start going through the belly soon as I’ve never had success with that in the past. My uterus was retroflexed before I was pregnant. It’s now apparently tilting forward so it should be easier. My belly has completely changed shape because of it. I now look pregnant and are well and truly in the pregnancy clothes.

I’m trying to get some dungarees at the moment because I find them super comfy. There are some nice ones in gap which I’d ordered and hopefully should come tomorrow. Are your jeans getting tight yet? Xx

bananamonkey · 12/09/2019 20:19

Lovely scan pics @mommato3!

Wow nearly 20 weeks already @3204ECL, so lovely you will get to see the little dude again soon!

Sorry you’re feeling rough @Kiki061190 I also ventured on a boat a few days ago but lucky for me it was too rough and we turned back before I felt too 🤢

Great you’re able to eat some healthy meals @Catconfusion

What a fab MW you have @sadtoday21 it’s great she’s reassuring you that way.

Sorry to anyone I’ve missed!

I’m back in the uk (boo), just checked my work emails, only 952 😂 oh well they can wait till Monday. I’m really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight, I’m feeling uncomfortable on my back already which seems crazy. Also my stomach is huge! In part this is down to a lot of bread, chips and ice cream but also I think my muscles have given up 3rd time around. I’m 8+3 now (8+0 by my calculations), this is when the last baby stopped growing so it’s a strange time but hoping I can progress past this “milestone”. Have GP in the morning to request an early scan so 🤞🏻

Definitely check your scan dates, with my DD they booked my 12-week scan too late for all the tests but only noticed the error because I phoned to query it. Also have my MW booking in appointment next week so should get my scan date shortly too!

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 21:01

Hey @bananamonkey good to hear from you. My tummy is huge too. I googled 9 week baby bumps and saw nothing in the region of mine. I’m fairly petite so it’s pretty obvious I’m pregnant.

Good luck with the doc tomorrow. If you have any problems call the EPAU. They were happy to see me based on the mmc though my doctor felt she had to exaggerate symptoms to get me seen. Now going every two weeks so it’s really helpful and you should be offered the same. Xx

Catconfusion · 12/09/2019 21:07

@bananamonkey also really rubbish you couldn’t get the screening done last time. They really should be more careful with booking at the right time.

I can imagine it’s been difficult getting to 8 weeks but it sounds like you’re past that milestone now and hopefully you’ll get a scan soon! Xx
