Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

Thanks @Catconfusion it’s great to have you ladies to keep me sane! I just had date night with OH and we went to the cinema to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood after which was nice. Managed to eat no problem today. Hope your pizza was nice! My tummy seems bloated which is odd. I know I won’t be showing yet but it’s odd as mines isn’t usually like that. Have a fab time at the naming ceremony!

bananamonkey · 01/09/2019 09:41

Congratulations on your scan @sadtoday21 you must be so relieved, so lovely you could tell family. Sorry some reactions were a bit strange, like you say some people don’t know how to take it, my dad was a bit odd but I know some older people don’t like to get too excited till the birth, my mum and dad didn’t want to know the sex even though we found out, that was tricky.

A boy how lovely for you @3204ECL! 💙

How nice for your DH yo feel the kicks and to be thinking of nursery furniture @Amanda81. If you’re planning to BF I can recommend the next to me cots, plus they outgrow them later than a Moses basket, we have a lovely Snuzpod up in the loft.

I’m feeling super bloated too @Kiki061190 though it may be down to all the carbs! I am struggling with fruit and salad, all I want is things like pasta and crumpets, I don’t normally eat them.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend x

bananamonkey · 01/09/2019 09:46

Glad you’re feeling a little better @Catconfusion, great that DH is looking after you. Hope today goes ok.

Kiki061190 · 01/09/2019 10:54

@bananamonkey How are you feeling? I have been worried as I had nausea most of week and it has disappeared the last 2 days and now I feel hungrier than ever!

Catconfusion · 01/09/2019 11:20

Thanks @Kiki061190 and good choice of film. Pizza was lovely thanks but I couldn’t eat much of it. I’m finding I get full so quickly. My tummy is huge from bloating. I think it’s all the hormones. Try not to worry about the nausea coming and going. I had a much better day on Friday. It’s just the hormone surges.

@bananamonkey I hear you on the craving carbs front. It’s all I want and all that helps with the nausea. DH cooked some broccoli the other night and I tried to eat it but nearly vomited and spat it out. It’s crazy because it’s supposed to be good for us. Thanks for the well wishes. I’m just glad my friend knows and everyone else there are practically strangers so it will be pretty chilled. I got a good nights sleep thanks to sniffing lemon oil. I’d highly recommend it for nausea. I’ve not been sick today so it’s a much better day already. DH has been massaging my acupressure points too so I think that’s helping!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone! Xx

bananamonkey · 01/09/2019 11:53

I’m not really feeling nauseous anymore either @Kiki061190, just feeling a bit bleurgh with an aversion to some foods. Oh and that horrible metallic taste. I’m feeling ok about it though as I know symptoms don’t mean anything for me, with my DD I had nothing, with the MMC I had loads even after the baby stopped growing, you just can’t tell! All I can do is wait a few weeks and hope the GP will refer me for a scan.

OddshoesOddsocks · 01/09/2019 18:15

Hi all! Glad to see so much good news, relief all round I bet!

I’m having a bit of a wobble today as my boobs haven’t been half as sore today after a week and a bit of barely being able to touch them.
Last night I was so happy and the anxiety dropped so much as I spent the evening at work with mega sore boobs and heaving at the smell of cheese and onion crisps (who’d have thought I’d have been happy about that!) but today, at 6 weeks exactly, I’m stressing again.
I’m trying not to think about it whilst avoiding complacency at all costs! A hard balance to strike...

I just wish I had something to cling onto with some consistency. Fingers crossed if things work out I’ll feel so much better once I can feel baby move, that just seems so far away!!

Kiki061190 · 01/09/2019 18:52

@bananamonkey Thank you so much you’ve made me feel better ♥️ I know I can’t change the outcome so I just need to get on with things. Glad you are doing ok 🥰 How far along are you now?

@Catconfusion Hope you are having a lovely day!

@OddshoesOddsocks I was the exact same yesterday and today as my symptoms have disappeared. I think we will always be anxious if we have had a loss! At least we all have each other to rant to when we feel this way!

OddshoesOddsocks · 01/09/2019 19:42

Thanks @kiki, fingers crossed eh! I’m sure everything’s fine for both of us, we’re just hyper aware! Let’s see what tomorrow’s brings!

sadtoday21 · 01/09/2019 20:44

@Kiki061190 sorry to hear that you are feeling anxious :/. The symptoms really do come and go, I've learned that you can't read into it too much (easier said than done!). I read about this a lot because I was worried myself - it seems ladies have all kinds of stories and there really is no one right answer. I didn't have many symptoms from day one, they were practically nothing at around 9/10 (got really scared), and now seem somewhat back. I don't know, I also give up trying to understand it!

Bloating is also totally normal at your stage, I was (am still) also a lot more bloated this time around! But the time does pass really slowly and it's hard not to worry. Thinking of you Xxx.

Sorry to hear you are also feeling anxious @OddshoesOddsocks, this is a common thread here! I'm still feeling anxious myself, it never seems to really go away unfortunately.

Great to hear from you @bananamonkey, hope you get that scan referral!

@Catconfusion I hope the naming ceremony went well today! How are you feeling?

Kiki061190 · 01/09/2019 21:37

Thanks @sadtoday21 I actually have went back on the thread and read some of your older posts about not having much symptoms at my stage which has been helpful if that makes any sense? It’s t good to read someone experiencing something similar where it’s went on to have a positive 12 week scan. I’m 7+3 today and just feel normal but I go on holiday on Friday and hoping that will distract me!

sadtoday21 · 01/09/2019 23:19

@Kiki061190 I hope the holiday is a nice distraction! How many weeks will you be when you come back? I kept expecting symptoms by 8 or 9 weeks and was really upset when I didn’t get them, but it’s out of our control in the end really! I still wish mine were stronger to give me more reassurance. So you aren’t alone in this at all! Xxx

OP posts:
OddshoesOddsocks · 02/09/2019 00:35

Thanks @sadtoday21, I’m sure I’m just reading too much into everything! I doubt the anxiety ever goes away, even when they’re born! I’m feeling a little happier tonight but certainly making sure I’m far from complacent! I need to remember that I’m only 6 weeks and most people don’t even know they’re pregnant at that point, never mind have strong symptoms!

bananamonkey · 02/09/2019 07:57

7 weeks although 6+4 by my calculations @Kiki061190 this is the slowest pregnancy ever!
I keep thinking about scans in the middle of the night and that horrible moment when they’re trying to find a heartbeat, it’s making me anxious, I’m not sure how to cope if I get that far. Or if it’s bad news again.

We’re all in the same boat @OddshoesOddsocks

Kiki061190 · 02/09/2019 08:57

@sadtoday21 I will be 9+2 when I get back. I have a party the night I get back and then my midwife appointment is at 9+6. I’m not sure what to expect at the booking appointment? Last time I had a scan a couple of days before and that’s when I found the babies had stopped growing at 8 weeks so never made that appointment.

@bananamonkey I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same when I went for the 7 week scan. Prepared myself for bad news, not once did I think they’d see a heartbeat. It’s so hard as it’s completely out of our control at this stage!

Catconfusion · 02/09/2019 10:14

Hey @sadtoday21 unfortunately not good at all. I woke up in the night and ended up vomiting until morning. I felt so low and ill. I had a good cry and DH and I decided I needed the tablets. So far they’ve taken the edge off but I still feel sickly. I’m also really drowsy with cloudy vision. It was good to be tired enough to sleep but now I’m up it’s hard getting on with the day. It’s probably because I’m not used to them yet. Not long now until your results! Xx

@bananamonkey I keep having anxiety dreams too. I dreamt they scanned me and told me they could see I’d eaten ham cheese and bread but couldn’t see a baby. It’s just so unnerving! Xx

@Kiki061190 I completely understand your worry about symptoms but honestly I wouldn’t wish how I feel on my worst energy. It’s absolutely gruelling. I read that a third of woman don’t have nausea and sickness so perfectly normal to not feel that way. I do hope you get some waves of nausea to give you some reassurance. Xx

Kiki061190 · 02/09/2019 11:10

Oh no @Catconfusion! Hope you are ok! Did you manage through the ceremony yesterday? I’m just out a check up at the dentist and the weather is awful! Heading home to curl up. I almost feel hungover all the time just now. Glad the tablets have eased the sickness slightly. Are you managing to eat anything?

sadtoday21 · 02/09/2019 11:15

I'm really sorry to hear that @Catconfusion, I hope you get some rest today! It's good you are taking the tablets now and hopefully that will give you some relief once you get used to them. How long does it take for the tablets to kick in?

@Kiki061190 the booking appointment is nothing special really, they just take bloods, blood pressure, urine sample, measure and weigh you, and ask about your lifestyle and family medical history. They give you the blue book and some pregnancy info as well. They will probably also ask about your mental health and previous MMC. I personally find the booking appointments to be very anti-climatic - the main reason to go is to get your scan referral in for 12 weeks. But it helps pass the time! Amazing that you will be 9+2 when you get back, the vacation will definitely help take your mind off waiting and symptom spotting! Xxx

Ok, so today is day 1 of 4. It's not a holiday today here, as far as I know, so counting this as the first working day. Phone ringer is on, just trying to get on with work from home this week and praying it doesn't ring. Otherwise, not much going on, boobs getting bigger still and still feeling tired. Only 12+3 today, it feels like a very long time until 16 weeks...

Hi all. Just stumbled across this and thought I'd join. I recognise a few names from my previous pregnancy which unfortunately ended in mc, @sadtoday21 and @Catconfusion mainly.

My stats: now 40 and currently 12+2 with #4
Previous mc was 12/2 😟
Last week (28/8) was my due date for the baby we lost and the day after I was 11+5 which was the same time we lost previous baby so last week was pretty tough.

We had a private scan at 7+5 as we knew that would be after my danger zone as my mc showed baby passed around 6 weeks. As did my mmc years ago I'm 2000.

I have my dating scan on 11th.

I've been quite lucky. Have had nausea but not to any major extent thankfully. And I had a few weeks of feeling absolutely dead on my feet! Feeling quite fat at the moment however, think any day now I'll pop!

It took me a while to read through this thread so I'll apologise now, I know some have bad anxiety due to previous mc (I hear ya!) and I know some have had terrible nausea and vomiting (fingers crossed this will pass soon for you).

Congratulations to the new BFP's. Good luck for those with upcoming scans. And hugs to babypending on your loss (not tagging as she said she was leaving and don't think she'll want a tag in this post email after this long!)

Hope everyone is doing ok 💜💜💜

sadtoday21 · 02/09/2019 17:08

Hi @mommato3!! I remember you from the previous thread. Really glad to see you on here and approaching your 12 week scan! Major congrats on getting this far and I hope all goes well on the 11th. I'm so sorry for all the heartbreak of your previous losses and also sorry to hear about the due date anniversary last week - that was around the same time as mine actually from my mmc (also discovered at 12 weeks). We must have been going through the same thing at almost the same time. It's so tough to go through that and that have all this added anxiety about the next pregnancy. Are you doing the combined test at your 12 week scan? When is your EDD? Thinking of you and so glad you decided to join us on here! Xxx

OP posts:
mommato3 · 02/09/2019 17:16

Hi @sadtoday21 Thank you. Yes I think we went through it all about the same time. Mine started on the Monday and on the Tuesday 12/2) I'd ended up rushing in gushing. My 12 week scan should have been the next day but it turned into a confirm the loss scan 😢

What's the combined test? (I feel dumb now haha) I declined the other tests offered and just opted for the scan.

I've been out as high risk of clot at the moment due to being 40, having 3 kids and still smoking although stop smoking lady is coming this week and I do intend to stop. Apparently I'll be offered fragments from 28 weeks and will see a consultant after the 20 week scan.

It is hard. It's been terrifying. We bought a Doppler after the private scan so now if I feel unsure I use that. I know it's not a guarantee etc but for me knowing there's still a heartbeat makes a difference to be fair.

My EDD unless it changes next week is March 14th much to my eldest disgust! Her birthday is 12th and she doesn't want to share at all! She's 18 and to be fair quite pathetic about it all. She thinks the whole thing is rediculous...

I'm so glad all is going well
For you this time. When are you due? Xxx

sadtoday21 · 02/09/2019 17:37

@mommato3 hope so, still feeling quite anxious myself. My EDD is 13 March, so we are just one day apart! Bump buddies :). The combined test is for downs and other chromosomal abnormalities, but sounds like you waived it if just having the scan. Does the Doppler really help? I've been debating whether or not to buy one - I've heard really mixed things about it. I would really like to hear the hb though and it might help between the scans, particularly now I have a long wait. Do you like it? Xxx

OP posts:
Kiki061190 · 02/09/2019 18:08

@sadtoday21 Thank you so much! I think once I get to the booking app the scan won’t feel so long away. Is a Doppler for hearing a heartbeat? I’m so intrigued!

@mommato3 Welcome! So great you have ladies here who you are familiar with. This thread has been amazing support ♥️

mommato3 · 02/09/2019 18:17

@Kiki061190 Thank you. I've always found this forum helpful. Yes a Doppler is what the midwives will use from 16 weeks on to hear baby's heartbeat xx

@sadtoday21 Whoop whoop 👍
Yes I find it helps a lot. I had one with my other 2 aswell. Would appear I won't be having those then!
It is bad all the waiting isn't it... xxx

OddshoesOddsocks · 02/09/2019 21:51

Hi everyone! I know a few of you have opted for early private scans, the one by me does them from 7 weeks which for me is next week. I’m wondering what the likelihood is of seeing a heartbeat so early? I’d hate to go to ease my worry to be told that a heartbeat can’t be seen but it might be fine or might not! If we go for one is it worth waiting a week or 2 more?

I’m trying to stay calm and neutral atm (easier said than done, right?!). Still getting brown smudges when wiping which was pink tonight which is unusual for me. I said to DP earlier that there’s definitely some sort of womb activity going on today, whether it’s good or bad I don’t know but there’s certainly something going on in there! I wouldn’t say it was cramping, more of a dull ache I think. Will just have to wait and see won’t I!
