Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

Catconfusion · 30/08/2019 07:55

Hey @Amanda81 it’s all about the cheese which is so weird because I don’t usually eat cheese unless I have something like pizza. DH does all the cooking in our house and I’m getting him to sprinkle cheese on most things. Also white bread. I never have it, always wholemeal or seeded. I’m trying to limit both things as not particularly healthy in large amounts but my body clearly wants them both. Xx

Good luck today @sadtoday21 I’ll be thinking of you! Happy anniversary celebrations too! Xx

I’m so sorry you’re going through this @charliehen are you sure it couldn’t be implantation? Xx

Amanda81 · 30/08/2019 08:17

Deep breaths @sadtoday21 - I need to start working Excercise around my pelvic girdle pain, which is causing me some pain during the day but mostly at night. Looking to get some physio. Thinking of you today xx

Cheese is a good craving to have @Catconfusion - ruddy love cheese and am looking forward to having it in abundance next year xx

sadtoday21 · 30/08/2019 09:15

Thanks @Amanda81 and @Catconfusion! At the hospital now...this is so tough :/.

Hi everyone! I’m new to this thread but I’ve already found it really helpful just reading through it, so thank you Smile

I’m 35 (36 in a couple of weeks) and 11+4. I am lucky enough to have a 4yr old son already but I lost our little girl, Poppy, in April 2018 at 16wks due to Edwards Syndrome. They missed it on the first scan and we paid for a second scan just to find out gender (we live in an area where they don’t allow gender scans as routine due to lots of people aborting girls) and they spotted something then. She would never have survived life but it was still tragic.

Fast forward to now and I’m 11+4 and freaking out. Found out we were expecting a day before our summer holiday and 2 days later sickness kicked in and I was bound to the hotel room while DP took DS and DSD down to the pools. So I had BAD sickness and sore boobs from 5wks right up to last week... and now nothing. Well, I feel a bit nauseous right now but that could be coz I haven’t had any breakfast yet!

When I was being so badly sick I couldn’t even hold down pregnancy vitamins so I’m worried about lack of folic acid anyway PLUS I have booked myself a Paramount test (it’s one step up from Harmony - it tests for EVERYTHING!) and have that next Friday...

I am just freaking out that my symptoms are easing off and I’m going to get to that scan and test next week and there won’t be a heartbeat. NHS don’t have me booked for a scan until the 16th September, closer to 14wks, because they wanted to do a screening for down’s etc then too but in the meantime I booked this test because I needed to know.

Did anyone here have lightening strike twice with Edwards Syndrome or another chromosomal disorder? Or did you go onto have healthy babies after? Can you please reassure me that loss of symptoms at this stage is normal? I’m not even sure I’ve lost the symptoms, they just aren’t as bad as they were so seem non existent now in comparison. But I’m doubting myself constantly.

If it wasn’t for the school summer holidays I would’ve gone this week or even last week for the NIPT testing but I have to wait until my son is back at school from next Wednesday...

Sending you all love for your pregnancies, past, present and future Flowers

DieBabySharkDie · 30/08/2019 09:27

Ok... now I feel a bit stupid... almost as soon as I pressed “post” I had to run to the toilet and spent 10 minutes throwing up air and bile...

Anxiety has a lot to answer for...

Kiki061190 · 30/08/2019 12:40

@sadtoday21 Thinking if you today! How did the scan go?

Kiki061190 · 30/08/2019 12:42

@DieBabySharkDie It’s hard to go by symptoms as I don’t have much. Every woman is different! Don’t worry too much ♥️

sadtoday21 · 30/08/2019 21:26

Thanks @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @3204ECL @Kiki061190 for thinking of me today and supporting me these past few weeks (and months!). I really appreciate it!!

All was well today, baby moving around a lot and looking incredible. Spent a good 20 minutes looking at the baby and they gave us five pictures! It was amazing and now I'm just really hoping the test results come back ok...still really scared about that. Anyway, we finally told the family and they were really excited! My sister and FIL were a bit disappointing in having really muted reactions, but everyone else was crying and over the moon. All in all, just exhausted and drained of all energy, but today was a good day, for now. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather! Xxx

Kiki061190 · 31/08/2019 08:03

Omg what wonderful news @sadtoday21! I was checking back throughout the day to see if you’d updated. Do you have a due date now? I think some people don’t know how to react at baby news so don’t worry about them. Was your DH delighted too? What wonderful news!

sadtoday21 · 31/08/2019 08:51

Thanks @Kiki061190, that’s really sweet of you! Baby was measuring a day ahead of schedule, so now my EDD is 13 March. She’s so cute, I can’t stop staring at her picture! Never experienced anything like this before.

I’m still worried tbh, as I knew I would be, because now waiting for test results. They said four days by phone if it’s bad news and otherwise 7-10 days by post it low risk. I’m praying that phone doesn’t ring! The NT measurements looked normal, but I don’t know about the blood yet. Still, I’m determined to enjoy this pregnancy as much as possible now, though it’s not easy.

You are totally right about people not knowing how to react. My FIL saw the scan photo and then went to yoga for two hours without calling us to say congrats or anything! It was like his yoga class was more important, even though this is his first grandchild and he know about our previous loss. My sister called right away but was very nonchalant about it, didn’t comment on the scan photo or ask any questions. Otherwise all my others relatives were crying and super excited and talked to us about it for an hour! Am I being unreasonable to be upset with me FIL and sis? As you said, probably best to just focus on us and positive news for now.

How are you doing? When’s the vacation? Any symptoms starting yet?

Catconfusion · 31/08/2019 09:43

Fantastic news @sadtoday21 I’m so pleased for you. You’ve done so well to get to this point. Not long now and you’ll be clear of the first trimester and all the risks that come with it. I hope your phone doesn’t ring and the results are low risk! Xx

Sorry ladies about my absence I’m just really struggling with the nausea so much. I managed to get my hair done yesterday and see my friend but I’m vomiting daily now and generally feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I can’t wait to have the scan next week. I hope you’re all doing ok. Have a lovely holiday @Kiki061190 and @bananamonkey xxx

Amanda81 · 31/08/2019 10:47

Great news @sadtoday21 ... phew! I was worried for a little bit yesterday as I kept popping in to see how it had gone. I wouldn't worry about some of your family not responding with excitement. I think some people don't know how to respond to pregnancy after loss. My sister kept saying 'what will he will be' almost as if she was protecting herself from being hurt again. They will get more excited as the days and weeks pass. Very happy for you. If your NT measurement was within range, you are out of the thick of the woods, so sounds like good news already.

How's everything with you @3204ECL - hope all is progressing well. Are you feeling movement yet?

So sorry the sickness is bad for you @Catconfusion - it must be exhausting. Hopefully once you are out of the first trimester things will start to calm down. How far are you along now?

Happy holidays @bananamonkey and @Kiki061190 - I hope both of you are doing well.

Welcome to @DieBabySharkDie - I hope you continue to find this thread useful.

Update from me...I'm 23+1 today and my DH felt her kick this morning. Her kicks have been getting much more noticeable over the last week and I am starting to notice a pattern as to when she is awake. Just love feeling her move.

To be honest I am pleased that the summer sun has gone away for a little and that the temps feel like autumn is on its way. A season closer to seeing her...yey!

Happy weekend everyone, xxx

Catconfusion · 31/08/2019 11:15

Hey @Amanda81 it is certainly very tiring. I’m just trying to manage best I can at the moment. DH is being amazing and looking after me. I’m 7 and a half weeks now. Apart from the stomach issues I feel like things are progressing. I’ll know for sure next week when I have the scan but have a good feeling about it.

I’m so glad you’re feeling so much movement. How lovely that she’ll be here at Christmas. It is such a relief isn’t it to have slightly cooler weather!? I was literally dying with the heat. Just think, this time next year we’ll all have little babies. It’s so surreal but exciting! Xx

Amanda81 · 31/08/2019 11:49

You are verry lucky to have such a wonderfully caring DH @Catconfusion - it's nice to see how partners respond to pregnancy. I'm not allowed to lift anything when it comes to my DH, so I am making the most of that one 😉 He has also started accompanying me in site visits when I am lone working - very sweet. 7 and a half weeks! Wow! It feels like it last going quick. What day next week is your scan on?

Your last sentence made me smile 😊 it does feel like our time, doesn't it! Very exciting.

We are going to look at nursery stuff today. It's stretching me a little as I have been putting it off, but as the anxiety is starting to fade, I know I need to do this stuff. I can't decide on a Moses basket or a next to me cot for the first 6 months...

Xx

Kiki061190 · 31/08/2019 12:19

@sadtoday21 Delighted for you! Do you have a feeling it’s a girl? Are you getting a 16 week scan?

@Catconfusion sorry about the sickness! My nausea has faded and it’s made me worry! I feel normal now which is what made me worry last time.

@Amanda81 How exciting to shop for nursery stuff! I really hope I get to that point too!

sadtoday21 · 31/08/2019 13:05

Thanks @Amanda81, I really hope so! I guess it will mostly come down to the blood results now. How did you get through 12 to 16 weeks, when not much is happening? Did you cave and buy a doppler? I am not sure I can go a month without a scan, it seems like a really long time. Very excited about your nursery planning, a cot by the bed seems lovely but then they outgrow it so fast! Have you bought anything yet?

@Catconfusion sorry to hear you are still feeling ill. Are you considering the medicine now? It's great that you have another scan next week and hopefully you can see baby moving around this time!! Thinking of you Xxx.

@Kiki061190 I feel like it might be a girl, but of course I have no idea! I would like to get a gender scan at 16 weeks, if I can hold out that long. Hope you are feeling ok!!

Amanda81 · 31/08/2019 13:15

Hey @sadtoday21 - tbh the time between the dating scan and feeling movements was the hardest for me, as not much was happening. I did have a scan at 13 and 15 weeks as I was going on holiday at 16 weeks and wanted to know all was okay before I left. I did feel movements whilst I was on holiday which eased anxiety. I decided against a Doppler as they can be misleading and never hear good things about them. My DH was fed up of me (in the nicest possible way) of saying let's wait to buy stuff, and he bought some clothing a couple of weeks ago. This made me a little jealous, so then I bought some...he knows me too well 😂😂😂 I now can't stop looking at baby clothes.

@Kiki061190 - you will get that far...believe it xxx

Kiki061190 · 31/08/2019 15:18

@sadtoday21 I would definitely get a gender scan too, I would want to know! I’m feeling so much better today which has me worried as my symptoms disappeared last time not long after this point and it was a mmc. I’m managing to eat no problem today!

@Amanda81 Thank you so much! I hope so ♥️ Symptoms have disappeared which has me worried!

3204ECL · 31/08/2019 15:34

@sadtoday21 great news on the scan I'm so happy for you. Got everything crossed for the test results. We couldn't have tests at our 12 weeks scan as little bean wouldn't keep still! I had the blood test for downs at 16 weeks and am still waiting for my letter so know exactly how you are feeling. Every time my phone went in the waiting time I was terrified.

We had another lovely scan on Friday and found out we're having a baby boy which were both absolutely delighted about! We both thought it was a boy from day one and have been calling him he without even realising so lovely that it's been confirmed!

We're now on holiday and enjoying a very much needed break, I am really starting to show now as well which is nice!

@Amanda81 I've definitely felt the flutters in the last few days which is so magical. Can't wait for proper kicks! Lovely that DH can now feel your baby girl, the first time must have been a really special moment.

Love to all xxx

sadtoday21 · 31/08/2019 16:10

Oh wow @3204ECL massive congrats on your baby boy!!! That's so amazing that the gender scan confirmed what you thought. You couldn't tell at the 14/15 week scan, right? I seem to remember you went private around then for a reassurance scan around then, but I guess they don't usually tell you the gender until a minimum of 16 weeks. And also amazing about the flutters and starting to show!! Is that early for a first pregnancy? Kicks will be next!

I didn't realise you were also waiting for test results...know what you mean about the phone ringing. I jumped yesterday out of my skin and it turned out it was just EE trying to sell me a new cellphone plan! Needless to say I wasn't interested. If you know the time has passed for the phone call and you are just waiting for the letter though, then it must be good news. Enjoy your vacation!! Xxx

OP posts:
3204ECL · 31/08/2019 16:36

@sadtoday21 I had a scan at 15 weeks and we definitely saw something on the scan but the sonographer said she couldn't confirm anything until 16 weeks. Should have waited really but felt like I wanted a scan at 15 weeks as my symptoms had pretty much vanished which I was finding difficult. It's worked out nicely with us being able to have a scan the morning we came away and now know our little boy is still doing well! When do you think you'll have another scan? Only 2 days left of phone panic! xxx

sadtoday21 · 31/08/2019 17:16

@3204ECL so I had my scan at exactly 12 weeks and waiting until 16 feels way too long tbh. I think I might have to do 14 and then maybe 16+3 and then 19+3 (this is when our anatomy scan is booked). So basically paying for two private scans between then and now. Does that sound unreasonable? I've got four business days of phone panic (so until Thursday)...wishing for good news for both of us! Thinking of you Xxx.

OP posts:
3204ECL · 31/08/2019 17:28

@sadtoday21 doesn't sound unreasonable at all I did exactly the same! It's such a long wait otherwise especially once your symptoms all fade away. Got everything crossed for your results. xxx

Catconfusion · 31/08/2019 17:59

@3204ECL congratulations on your baby boy. Such good news! I hope your test results all come back normal. It must be a nerve wracking wait but not long now! Xx

@sadtoday21 no I haven’t caved in yet. I figure I’m nearly 8 weeks now so in a couple of weeks it might start to improve. I’m just so worried about taking anything, also no guarantees it will work. I’m vomiting about once a day so not too bad in terms of keeping food down. If it gets worse than that I’ll have no choice. I’ve just discovered lemon essential oil which is helping. I hope this week goes quickly and you have good news. Good the scan looked normal. Xx

@Amanda81 thank you. He’s definitely a keeper. Considering we’ve only been together 18 months he’s really stepped up. He just went out to get me lemon essential oil. I’ve been sniffing it on a tissue and I have to say it’s helping. Your DH sounds lovely too. So sweet he’s going on site visits with you. Pregnancy is such a vulnerable time so it’s so nice to have that support. Xx

Try not to worry @Kiki061190 I know that’s hard when you’re worried about the symptoms subsiding. I had a better day yesterday and I think it’s because the hormones surge and level off. Today hasn’t been good at all. It’s not comforting though as I had all the symptoms during our loss. Just take each day as it comes and keep as busy as you can. Xx

So ladies I’ve been in bed most of the day after being up in the night. Actually feeling a bit better now. DH is making me pizza so I’m excited about the carbs and of course the cheese. I think another thing that’s hard is feeling hot all the time. I can feel that my body temperature is a little raised which makes the sick feeling worse. I guess it’s all the hormones. I have my best friends baby’s naming ceremony tomorrow so I’m hoping I’ll feel ok. I got a lovely t shirt dress from Fatface which hides the tummy. My friend knows but we’re not confident enough to tell everyone else. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever you do! 🌞 xx
