Aw @Chocolatedaim that’s sweet. I declined medication (personal choice) and decided to try counselling first. If that didn’t work then I could always go back.

The counselling has been helping massively. I’m still anxious about giving birth but it’s going to happen either way, so I’m just trying to keep positive.

Happy due month everybody (and those still waiting from July)! Looks like it's all about to happen for a few of you! Best of luck x

That’s really positive, I’m glad you are feeling well!

I went to see Midwife today, baby is 2/5ths engaged, which confused me at first as I was 3/5th engaged at 32 weeks but it’s the other way round. The midwife shouted at me for not having packed my bag yet. I’m 39weeks tomorrow! Grin trying to eat all the chilli I can!

Firsttimemumdueaugust · 01/08/2019 18:59

So had my 40 week scan today. All looking well baby is measuring about 8lb3 so a decent size. Saw the doctor for my first sweep. Turns out my cervix wasnt favourable so no sweep just a ridiculously painful exam as my cervix was so high. :( booked in for induction on the 11th so at least I have a date when things will start moving even if she decides to be a stubborn little baby until then I can start counting down!
Keeping fingers crossed for all of you who have had/having sweeps this week. X

mynameiscalypso · 01/08/2019 20:50

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet either @Chocolatedaim although I'm 'only' 37 weeks. Might go shopping tomorrow for a few bits and pieces and start thinking about it this weekend. I made non-committal noises when my midwife asked about it this week...

Xyzzzzz · 01/08/2019 21:27

I packed my bag at 30 weeks. But keep amending it 🙄

Yeah @Chocolatedaim I didn’t find my GP very supportive when I spoke with him. So took counselling via my private healthcare package at work.

That’s a shame, TalkChanges was offered to me and they were fab. I think the standard of Perinatal Mental Health very much differs between each postcode, sadly.

Bag packed now, minus a few last minute bits like phone charge and deodorant.

Morning!
Little update - after mw told me my second sweep wasn’t great and things were no further along since Tuesday ....

I went into labour at 20.14 and had my little peach at 22.44! Not long at the hospital and they told me I was fully dilated and ready to push! Growth scan was well out and she is definitely not a hippo! She is my smallest baby yet weighing in at 5lb10! xxx

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 02/08/2019 11:26

Congratulations! Hope you're both doing well.
I'm 40+6 today and just had a sweep this morning. Few twingey cramps but nothing exciting yet. She said it was all looking good so hopefully it'll kick start it for me too.
Fingers crossed for everyone!

happygoluckyhippo · 02/08/2019 13:41

Congratulations @Lexyness that's such good news! Enjoy your lovely bundle!

ricecrispiecake · 02/08/2019 18:27

Congratulations @Lexyness wonderful news. Hope both you and baby are doing well!

I woke up this morning to a puddle in the bed so instantly thought my waters had broken, so I put a pad on and went back to sleep for an hour and woke up it was quite damp.
Phoned delivery suite and they said to come up to be checked, they said waters hadn't gone Confused so god knows what was in my bed but it definitely wasn't urine.

But back to the waiting game for us, due date tomorrow but doesn't seem like baby is going to make an appearance anytime soon.

Chocolatedaim · 02/08/2019 19:52

ricecrispiecake how odd! I wander if the hospital have got it wrong? How are you feeling?

My tummy has really hardened up, like it’s rock hard to the touch especially around my belly button. I’ve been on a long slow walk last night and tonight and I’m drinking raspberry leaf tea by the bucket load.
I keep getting twinges and ‘fanny daggers’ every now and then.
Really want baby to come soon!

Snowflake9 · 02/08/2019 19:53

Can I PLEASE have a little rant about my boss' meeting with me this morning?

So he calls me and and starts with "I know legally you don't have to tell me if you are coming back, and I don't want you to feel I am pressuring you in anyway, but are you going to be coming back?"

"Yes, I plan to return to work"

"Do you know when roughly?"

"I have a few scenarios penned out but more than likely may/June time. Once the government stop paying my SMP"

"ARROGANT.LAUGH You mean when we stop paying you"

I just shook that comment off. Knowing full well they claim it back from the government!!

I also said about KIT days. He had no clue what they were and seemed baffled that I would be paid on top of being paid SMP.

Then he starts asking me about child care etc.

I told him it's all speculative and once I know, he will know.

What a complete cockwomble. I left feeling so annoyed, as if he was doing me a massive favour! When in fact I work my ass of for the company, have been working in a sweatbox for the last god knows how many weeks and have worked through lunch EVERY time I have had an appointment.

Can't wait to leave next Friday.

I doubt he even realises I accrue holiday whilst off too.

Pass the wine. (non-alcoholic of course!!)

Chocolatedaim · 02/08/2019 20:24

Oh snowflake that sounds so shit. WineWine (non alcoholic!)

I’m self employed so whilst I avoid twats like that, I’m not having much time off at all ☹️ It’s really tough, we need to take a leaf out of the Scandi notebook, they have got it sorted!

PhoebeBear · 02/08/2019 21:31

@Snowflake9 your boss sounds like a right a**hole!! 😳

ricecrispiecake · 02/08/2019 21:37

@Chocolatedaim odd indeed! I'm not sure, possibly. They said it's likely urine or discharge but it didn't look nor smell like either but they did a swab test which came back negative.

I've had a few strong contractions today but they're fairly spaced out and nothing warranting a call to the hospital, unfortunately.

Really got my hopes up this morning, thinking I'd be meeting baby sooner rather than later. 🙁

@Snowflake9 That sounds utterly shit.WineWine

Snowflake9 · 02/08/2019 22:51

Thanks ladies. The boss is in his 70s and just isn't up together with law.

I intend to send him printouts from the giv website when I write to ask if I can use my holiday at the end of my mat leave.

@ricecrispiecake sorry to hear things haven't moved on! Could it have been discharge on your sheets? My knickers have been damp for a few days now and I have definitely had more discharge than normal. It's clear but thick. I have had to change knickers 4 times A day at the mo as paranoid!!

Hope you get some rest tonight. Xx

Xyzzzzz · 03/08/2019 00:07

@Snowflake9 I’m sorry men 🙄🙄. I have the same dampness so have been wearing pantyliners. I’ve googled it but not sure why it happens?

ricecrispiecake · 03/08/2019 02:21

I have definitely had increased discharge that has left me feeling quite soaked but this was watery whereas discharge has been, TMI, a lot thicker.

Ahh who knows, baby still isn't here yet but he is definitely making me aware he is still there tonight! I often wonder how my waters haven't broke already with the amount of protruding he seems to do through my skin!

Hoping we all get to meet our babies soooon 👶🏼 and that things pick up for those of us having a tough time.
