I didn't get my red book with DS until he was born so you may get that when they're here ladies ❤️

Chocolatedaim · 24/07/2019 14:56

My Dd didn’t get her red book until she was delivered either, but I suspect every hospital operates slightly differently.

Cold shower count today currently stands at 2. I reckon I will have two more before day is done.
I keep having shooting sensations down below. Not painful, just weird. Is that normal?
I was induced with Dd before I got to this stage of pregnancy so I don’t really know what early signs of labour feel like. I’m eagerly anticipating any twinge or sign!

Lexyness · 24/07/2019 18:43

I think the sensation you describe is affectionately known as ‘fanny daggers’ 🤣 and is totally normal. I could be wrong but I believe it is actually the ‘lightening’ Which is baby moving down into your pelvis and getting ready! I have experienced the same frequently in the past few weeks but she always pops back up again 🙄 so frustrating!
@snowflake9 @bakingbabyv with my previous I didn’t get my red book until I had had the babies and seen the health visitor for the first time, but I’m living hundreds of miles away from there now and MW told me it has all changed here due to budget cuts they don’t do it that way anymore here! So I was expecting to have a visit & already have the book! It doesn’t bother me either way tbh, just another one of those things that hasn’t gone as expected like everything else 🤣 x

Snowflake9 · 24/07/2019 18:52

Left work early as my BH felt a bit more than BH. The pains were long and strong and were come regruarly and had been since about 2. So I laid down on the sofa and managed to fall asleep after taking 2 paracetamol, woke up, still getting BH and pains just not in regular patterns. .

Please, I don't want to give birth on the hott at day of the year!!

Chocolatedaim · 24/07/2019 18:56

Oh snowflake thinking of you. Hope you manage to get some rest and cool down. Perhaps a cold shower and a tip-top?

Fanny Daggers hahaha thank you for that lexy what an accurate name Grin they are happening again this evening. Good to know baby is getting ready!

Mammaof2x · 24/07/2019 20:34

Hi.

I am new here. Due 7th August and have alot of pain in the right hand side of my back! Lots of BH lately and generally finding it hard to move around. The heat is unbearable. Hoping little one comes soon 🤞

Snowflake9 · 24/07/2019 21:38

@Chocolatedaim thanks for your comment. We have central air conditioning in our house so I blasted that for a few hours. Still getting pains but they are dying off.

The episode of friends springs to mind when Rachel says no uterus no opinion! Fed up of people saying "it's just your body getting ready" piss off. It hurts!!

Snowflake9 · 24/07/2019 21:40

Welcome @Mammaof2x, not long left for you! Is this your first?

Hoping you get some rest. Chuck some do flannels in the freezer! Rest them on your feet, should cool you down xx

PhoebeBear · 25/07/2019 00:00

38 weeks now and 2/5 engaged, Midwife's booked me in for a sweep the day before I'm due (August 8th) but she thinks baby could come before then 😬

Chocolatedaim · 25/07/2019 19:53

Oo Pheobe that’s exciting!
I’m due 7th August. I don’t have my midwife app until next Thursday.

cravingmilkshake · 25/07/2019 20:05

Hi guys,

Tentatively joining as I was due 21st July so 40+4 and she is still not here! May be an August baby if she keeps it up. She has probably heard me moaning about the weather and deciding to stay put!

Hope everyone is ok!?

Kathryn19 · 25/07/2019 20:27

@cravingmilkshake oh wow! Not sure what I'd vote for in a heatwave between a newborn and being overdue! Congrats though- how are you getting on?

Lexyness · 25/07/2019 23:34

Welcome @cravingmilkshake, Bless you for being overdue, but as pp said, I’m not sure what is worse in this weather, pregnancy or keeping a newborn content 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m on the countdown until my induction now - 9 days to go, it’s getting difficult now! Tonight my back is really aching and I can’t get comfortable, not labour signs I don’t think, just the extra weight of carrying my baby hippo 🤣! Midwife has today said I can have 2 sweeps next week ahead of my induction (I am pushing for these as want as little intervention as possible and the plan is to only require rupture of membranes and nothing more!)
Not long to go now ladies - we really are on the final stretch, even if it doesn’t feel like it at times! x

ricecrispiecake · 26/07/2019 11:54

Hi all 👋
38+6 and I am absolutely floored. I can't stop sleeping! It's becoming such a struggle to keep my eyes open.
I'm doing my best to listen to my body but I'm becoming increasingly frustrated because I wanna keep active as I feel like nothings going to happen if I'm just lazing around in bed all day.😭
What's worse is my feet have swollen because of the heat and the bottoms feel blistered and sore.
Sorry for the pity party I hope everyone is doing well and welcome @cravingmilkshake

Chocolatedaim · 26/07/2019 12:21

I’ve convinced myself something is going to happen this weekend. I keep getting period cramps coming and going (since yesterday afternoon) and anytime I move I feel twinges in my hips. Stairs are a bloody nuisance. Nothing is painful, I just feel as if I’m noticing every sensation.
This could all mean nothing of course!
My ankles have swollen too 😆 it’s so peculiar to look at your foot and not see an ankle bone!
Thankful for the rain today but I’m still sweaty Betty, and my fan broke, probably from over use 😂 so I do need to go out this afternoon and get another!
I will finish packing my bag tonight.
Also need to pack my 4yr old and overnight bag just in case it all kicks off at an ungodly hour!

Chocolatedaim · 26/07/2019 12:21

Thinking of you all. Xxx

PhoebeBear · 26/07/2019 13:37

Has anyone had a membrane sweep performed at home before?
I've got one at midwife clinic at 39+6 but asked for a earlier one once I got home just because I know the success rate isn't always high so now I have a earlier sweep at 39+4 at home. I just wasn't expecting to hear it will be performed at home.. what will I do? Is it safe and clean to do? Any help ladies! 😬 x

Snowflake9 · 26/07/2019 18:10

@PhoebeBear I have never heard of it being done at home before, that is bizarre . Maybe MW is on rounds that day so can only sweep you whilst she is out and about?

Welcome @cravingmilkshake hope things start moving for you soon!

Don't ask me why, but yesterday I shaved my bikini line. OH MY GOD. So irritable today. I am not doing it again now until baby is here. Tough.

Had a huge argument with DH yesterday, I'm hormonal, he's stressed. I don't feel connected to him as I can't sleep in the same room as him as he keeps me up all night and vice versa. We cuddle for an hour or so then I kick him out to the spare room
we haven'tt had any special time since May and it's just all in all a huge struggle for us both at the moment.

Lexyness · 26/07/2019 19:09

@PhoebeBear I used to be a nurse and currently a carer Cos I choose my own hours. One of the ladies I work for I have nursing responsibilities for! A mw is not really any different to a community nurse - they can bring all the sterile field etc with them if it’s necessary (I can’t comment on whether it would be necessary or not 🤷🏼‍♀️) and I imagine that, no matter what, they will use sterile gloves! I also imagine it’s no different to having a home birth either!
Like @snowflake9 said, I expect your mw is doing rounds tmrw and that’s why it has to be at home! I had a blood pressure check at home yesterday which was squeezed in between my mw’s post natal checks. Saw her (unexpectedly) on Tuesday which is the only actual day she is in clinic in my town! Also booked in for 2 sweeps, 1 is next Tuesday in clinic and the next will be Thursday but I don’t know who or where that will be as yet because my mw goes on annual leave the same day 😞
Hope it gets things going for you xxx

happygoluckyhippo · 26/07/2019 20:04

Hi all, think I've only said hello on this thread before. Anyway, due 21 August and have had all sorts of grief with the pregnancy to the point where the consultant was threatening to do a c section around 36 weeks. Had another appt with them today (36+2) and baby's bounced back to the original growth centile (still small though!) and my BP is under control so they are letting me go to 38 weeks and I have my induction date on 8 August! Honestly so relieved about it all!
Hope you're all managing not to melt x

Chocolatedaim · 27/07/2019 20:49

Good evening ladies
Hope you are all well and enjoying the cooler temperatures.
I’m having lots of lower back pain and twinges in my sides. Baby feels really low, almost like if I were to do squats he would just fall out (sorry for TMI!!)
Still haven’t packed my bag 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Did manage to reorganise my 4yr olds bedroom though and organised babies clothes.

PhoebeBear · 27/07/2019 20:54

Thanks for the advice 😊 it seems it isn't so rare for her to do sweep at home after all.
Did a lot of walking today around the shops and came home to full period pains in lower abdomen, had a nap and woke up to them again. Baby feels lower now but not sure if it's enough to maybe think it's pre labour pains. Had a hot bath and waiting for DP to finish work x

Lexyness · 28/07/2019 09:02

Welcome @happygoluckyhippo
I’m just like you - lots of problems - each scan seems to have brought about a new set of problems - the only difference is my baby (affectionately termed baby hippo 🤣) is my biggest baby yet according to scans, despite already having 3 small babies (2 were on 1st percentile) and that was without bp problems like I have now! Originally placenta previa too and she has Been breech or transverse the whole time but it all sorted itself out and my consultant cleared me to go naturally! HOWEVER my last consultant app my blood pressure has spiked again due to the change in medication because we can’t get hold of any labetalol, so I too am booked for induction! 6 days left for me, so I’m now trying to get hippo into position, I definitely feel her drip down into my pelvis if I do lots of walking (live on a hill 🥵) and I pretty much run out of steam and can’t walk anymore but as soon as I stop the little bugger pops back out again 🤦🏼‍♀️
Had to have 3 blood pressure checks last week so nearly went in even earlier (37+5 now) but have managed to avoid that BUT we now can’t get hold of anymore of my current tablets either so potentially will have to go into hospital before Saturday (just ridiculous because the tablets aren’t controlling my bp like labetalol did anyway and they’ve had to double my dose and it’s still not great but it’s borderline and sitting just under the cut off for intervention - god knows what I’m supposed to take AFTER I’ve had the baby 🤷🏼‍♀️)
Anyway, sorry for waffling on. Just wanted you to know you’re not on your own x

Chocolatedaim · 28/07/2019 13:52

My elderly neighbour told me today with getting on drinking thyme tea (just whack a load of fresh thyme leaves and roots in a cup and pour boiling water over)
Apparently it works like a charm to get contractions going 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
If anyone is overdue maybe you want to give it a go!!!

Lexyness · 28/07/2019 19:52

Never heard of that @Chocolatedaim 🤷🏼‍♀️

How is everyone doing today? Do you still all have the heat? Still hot and sunny here (even now 7.50pm) I’ve had an absolutely manic weekend! Descended upon by 2 groups of friends from different parts of the country so yesterday was manic (& I had 3 shifts at work on top of that!) extremely late night at our local pub and I was designated taxi driver - absolutely exhausted now as had another whole day out, dc1 (12) had a ‘young driver’ driving lesson which went amazingly. But I had such a late night & lack of sleep followed by getting up super early to see off our visitors that I’m absolutely cream crackered now! Last day at work tomorrow and need to get some walking/bouncing or whatever in as this baby is super high up so I’m worried about my stretch and sweep on Tuesday 🙈 only Tuesday to Friday left to sort stuff before induction and Tuesday is filled with antenatal appointments! I just hope I’m all sorted and haven’t forgotten anything tbh!
Hope everyone is doing ok xxx
