Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@lordofthefries I've already told my mum, and will probably tell my sister once I've told DP next week as she's been on at me to get pregnant for ages! Other than that I'll probably not tell anyone else for a few weeks, will probably tell DP's family closer to 12 weeks.

Sianii · 07/04/2019 17:06

@Pip231018 Its been a day and the wait is already killing us both. My OH is constantly asking if he can tell his family, his friends and anyone he gets in contact with. Trying to get him to wait alongside myself is going to be very tough!

I’m already thinking how to get out of saying no to the tea rounds at work! I’m such a tea belly (I never say no can get through 8 in a working day) that i know as soon as I change to decaf they will be suspecting 🙈Anyone got any ideas about that?

1990carey · 07/04/2019 17:49

I have told my partner, sister and mum. Partner was obviously the first to know and my sister and mum I told late weekend, it was my mums mothers day prezzy! I surprised her big time Haha, wrapped a baby grow up that said happy mothers day nanny and gave it to her. We cried a lot! I'm 2 months pregnant at Easter so will probably tell my dad and his wife then, and well probably tell my step son when im 3 months.

Shelbybear · 07/04/2019 18:00

We will probably tell parents in about 2 wks time. I'll tell my sister also. Well my dh still doesn't believe I'm pregnant. He was like this last time even when the line was as dark as the control line, this time it's been feint but that's because last time I was 5 wks when I found out. He'll no doubt buy an expensive one that says pregnant then he'll believe it, think he likes to just waste money!

Shelbybear · 07/04/2019 18:02

@Sianii are you only supposed to drink decaf 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hadn't heard of that, I didn't last time either, oops!

Pip231018 · 07/04/2019 18:02

@Sianii I know! I feel like I'm lying to everyone and conversation is all about babies for some reason.

I'm probs gonna tell my parents when they visit at the end of this month. Will have had my booking in app with the midwife and want to book an early scan so that they can be part of the journey as they live abroad. Usually I would have told people straight away because I'm so open about everything but I remain cautious.

I am a Diet Coke addict!!! I've had to tell people that I'm trying to reduce how much I drink to see if it helps me sleep better as I'm a terrible sleeper. X

Sianii · 07/04/2019 18:21

@Shelbybear it’s advised to have a minimum 200mg amount of caffeine each day. But I don’t really know at what level would be harmful.... the odds are probably very slim to cause any detrimental harm. However I think with the over 8 cups of tea I drink a day a safe bet is decaf. Especially as things like coke, pepsi and even some herbal teas have caffeine in as well!

Sianii · 07/04/2019 18:23

And i’m thinking to put decaf tea in a zip bag and tell staff i’d prefer yorkshire tea over the typhoo ones they buy at the moment 😂😂 Might seem a bit snobby but it will get them talking about something else haha.

BirdIsland · 07/04/2019 18:37

@Sianii I have exactly the same tea problem, I'm hoping I can subtlety miss rounds out but if not I'm going to say I'm trying to focus on drinking water instead of tea and coffee. I suspect most of my colleagues would be oblivious to why a 30-something woman would stop drinking tea, but some would definitely get it immediately!

Shelbybear · 07/04/2019 19:02

So I've read 200mg is about 4 teas according to google so I shld be ok with that, phew!

Ferii · 07/04/2019 19:49

@Sianii @BirdIsland this is the most British pregnancy problem I’ve ever seen 😆😆😆

BirdIsland · 07/04/2019 20:11

@Sianii I know but the struggle is real 😂😂😂

Sianii · 07/04/2019 20:11

@Ferii no more tea partys for us haha!

Just noticed I wrote “minimum” amount of caffeine is 200mg I meant maximum...I have dsylexia and mix words and misspell a lot :O

Masha31 · 07/04/2019 20:38

I don't remember feeling this anxious last time...every twinge and twerk has got me worried! I'm sure it's normal....or trapped wind Confused

Masha31 · 07/04/2019 20:38

Tweek NOT TWERK!!!!

smitch82 · 08/04/2019 09:20

Hi all, just found out I am also due in Dec! I am going to drs to confirm on Wednesday but two tests taken yesterday are both BFP!

I think from my apps I am due between 11-13th. I am excited, nervous and scared all in one!

This will be our first so have no idea what to expect myself but I am an auntie to 9 so have a god idea from seeing them. It is not the same though!

ladybranstonpickle · 08/04/2019 09:47

smitch we are twins! according to calcs i'm due 14 dec. our (2nd) wedding anniversary is the 3 Dec so that's exciting.

has everyone called their GP yet? i haven't, thought i would wait a week or two as am paranoid about a chemical pregnancy?

smitch82 · 08/04/2019 09:50

@ladybranstonpickle ha excellent! I am going on Wednesday as I want to make sure I am doing the right thing exercise wise as I don't want to over or under do it!

lordofthefries · 08/04/2019 10:27

@ladybranstonpickle I’m planning on calling them at the end of this week, I should be about 6 weeks by then, so they will hopefully be able to get me in for the booking appointment ASAP.

DMIL is coming over today, and she has a knack for spotting pregnant women, so I’m a bit nervous.

Enwi · 08/04/2019 10:48

Hi ladies! Gee there seems to be SO many ‘due in December’ threads across Mumsnet. It’s going to be a busy month!
I’ve created a secret Facebook group for anyone due in December. If you want to join send me an email on [email protected] and I’ll send you a link. It’s a secret group so no one can see what you post or that you’re a member 😊 x

stripes416 · 08/04/2019 10:54

Hi everybody! Just wondering if anybody has experienced nausea at night? I'm only 5 weeks so very early on but yesterday I started feeling quite sick in the day but it passed and then last night around 3ish I woke up feeling really sick, it seemed to feel a bit better when I sat up and then every time I lay down I felt dizzyish/sick?

smitch82 · 08/04/2019 11:06

@stripes416 I did about a week before I found out. I did a sick burp before bed (so glamorous) and felt a bit better afterwards! 🤦‍♀️

stripes416 · 08/04/2019 11:19

@smitch82 ahh I woke up with what I think was acid reflux and then just felt awful after that! Hopefully it was just a one off. I didn't have any morning sickness or anything with my first so fingers crossed this will be the same

smitch82 · 08/04/2019 11:21

@stripes416 fingers crossed 🤞🏻 this is my 1st so have no idea what I expect at all. I am so nervous all the time. How am I going to last 40 weeks 😂

stripes416 · 08/04/2019 11:25

@smitch82 when are you due? I found with my first that the first 12 weeks went really slow but after that it goes quite quickly really until the last month which feels like it lasts years!
