Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@1990carey I’m such an impatient person anyway, I don’t know how I’m going to get through it. I was 12 weeks pregnant when I found out with my DS, so it didn’t seem like that long of a wait.

lordofthefries · 07/04/2019 08:06

@Pip231018 I think that test is fine, it’s a really strong line

Lottie1990 · 07/04/2019 08:31

Morning all, got my BFP yesterday. This is my first so exited / scared all at the same time. So although I’ve been trying I’ve been very laid back (even though it’s been a year). I’ve not told any of my family yet or my partner as it all seems to early and I think I’m still in shock, it doesn’t feel real yet. Going to double maybe triple check the positive this week. But should be due 11th December if my pridictions are right Smile

springspringing · 07/04/2019 08:48

@bobble53 my skin is a dream 😮

1990carey · 07/04/2019 08:51

@lordofthefries oh gosh I really wish I found out that late!!! Theres so much worry in the first 1st weeks lol! Espically when your a first timer like me!

1990carey · 07/04/2019 08:52

@Lottie1990 congratulations!! Welcome to the club!

Pip231018 · 07/04/2019 09:12

@lordofthefries @agteacht Ok. Maybe I am being paranoid. Just cos your levels are supposed to double and this isn't as bold as the one I took on Tuesday.

I'm not gonna test daily. I've done 5 this week 🙈
I will probably test just before I go to the midwife on the 24th to make sure I'm not wasting anyone's time. I had no idea I'd be like this. I always thought I'd take one test and then kick back and watch the bump grow.

Elliebaby1 · 07/04/2019 09:51

@1990carey thank you that does make sense my partner was confusing me!

It’s so nice to know there’s people in the same boat as me, I felt stupid checking my pants every time I wee and worrying all the time, I feel I’m constantly searching google too 🤦🏼‍♀️

BirdIsland · 07/04/2019 10:11

Got my BPF yesterday, think I'm four weeks so still very early. Told my mum straight away as DP is away with work for another week and want to tell him in person, so needed to tell someone! Also having some cramps but nothing else so feels a bit surreal and not sure it's quite sunk in yet.

It's my first and happened a lot quicker than expected so have no idea what I should or shouldn't be doing, feel like I have a lot of research to do!

1990carey · 07/04/2019 10:33

@Elliebaby1 dont feel stupid I'm literally doing it all the time! I've calmed down a little now but everytime I go to the toilet I still expect to see blood because I'll suddenly come on my period. I'm assuming it's just because it doesn't feel real lol. And I learnt very quickly, don't Google! Stay far away! I had a scare at the beginning of this week because my sister rang me and told me my nephew has slap cheek, and I googled it and it was the worst thing I could have done and I panicked and cried a lot, I had to get a dr appointment asap that morning and get bloods done at the hospital, turns out tho I'm fine and I don't have it thank God, but googling it was the worst thing I could have done lol!
@BirdIsland congratulations! Dont worry your still very early, I'm just 6 weeks tomorrow and bar cramping and a bad back I've had no other symptoms really, apparently they really start to show in week 6 but you could also ne lucky and not get many at all. I know what u mean tho, it's my first too and I have 0 clues what I'm doing so am trying to educate myself a lot. I suffer with anxiety anyways, and the pregnancy has made me worse than usual lol, so for me educating myself is as much as possible as soon as possible is a good way to help me deal with it.

Ferii · 07/04/2019 11:06

I'm relieved to hear everyone else's experience with mild cramping and also the dizziness. I felt the spinning sensation like when you lie down drunk and the room spins. I'm also obsessively checking my knickers, anyone else doing that?! For those wondering whether it's worth having an early ultrasound this was my experience:

I had one last Tuesday (transvaginal and transabdominal) the same day I got my BFP when I was 5 weeks. It wasn't meant to be a pregnancy scan it was a gynae scan ordered by my endocrinologist just to check all was in order coz I had short cycles and we were TTC. I have an endocrinologist because of hypothyroidism. The report from the technician came back and they saw nothing in my uterus but something on my left ovary which was probably a cyst or ruptured follicle from ovulation. The technician didn't tell me anything at the time which was disappointing because I really wanted her to turn the screen and say "ta da!". Apparently it's procedure for them not to say anything. Two days later my endocrinologist discussed it with my over the telephone and said she thought I was definitely pregnant since my period was late, I had BFP, pregnancy symptoms and my thyroid hormones had changed in the usual pregnancy pattern. She said "huh its strange they didn't see anything it might possibly be an ectopic pregnancy" and told me to watch out for signs of rupture and go to ER if I was worried. So I freaked out. A good friend of mine nearly died from a ruptured ectopic and I couldn't believe the doc's plan was to just wait and see if I bled internally with no follow up scan planned. I'm a nurse so I'd been proactive and gone for a meet and greet with the midwives that day so called them in a panic and they were amazing, they looked at the scan said they didn't think it was an ectopic just that the endocrinologist was inexperienced at reading scans. They booked me in for an early 'dating' scan for next Friday. I wish I hadn't had the first ultrasound as those few hours of hysterical crying thinking I and the baby could die were horrible. I'm now a little on edge but looking forward to the second scan where hopefully they'll see something in the right place.

BirdIsland · 07/04/2019 12:19

Thanks @1990carey I have anxiety too although it's mainly focused around my job so I'm hoping it doesn't creep into pregnancy too.

Does anyone have any exercise regimes they plan on following? I've been meaning to start running again, but haven't managed it, so I'm looking for something I can work at regularly but that isn't going to be too tough.

agteacht · 07/04/2019 13:07

@Ferii that sounds horrendous. Thank god you have a second scan booked in. Will be really keen to hear how that goes as would really like an early scan for reassurance but don't want to go so early that nothings clear either. Am thinking around 7 weeks but know I should wait longer if I can.

agteacht · 07/04/2019 13:09

@BirdIsland I was doing bootcamp but it's so strenuous so I've decided to stop. I was thinking of taking up running again too or maybe swimming. There's a pregnancy yoga class near me that you can join from 12 weeks. Would be good to hear what everyone else is doing

blondie87 · 07/04/2019 13:39

I hope you have a successful scan feri. It is definitely early days and hopefully you will get some reassurance.

birdislands I've just started swimming once a week and I find it really relaxing and gentle.

lordofthefries · 07/04/2019 14:00

@1990carey It was a big shock, I was on the mini pill so had no periods, and just assumed I had a stomach bug. I didn’t realise that a lot of my symptoms were because I was pregnant.

I’m so tired today, we went out for DH’s late birthday treat. We had to be up at 7 and out by 8, and we had breakfast in a place that made me feel sick. Everything was so tasty but my senses are so heightened I felt like I could smell everything. I’m really worried there may be twins in there because I seem to be having very strong symptoms.

JeccaBaby · 07/04/2019 14:07

Hello all, I'm new to Mumsnet Flowers I tested positive on 1/4/19 (it was negative on 29th March) and I'm rather nervous as I'll be more that 41 and a half in December, and we've been trying to conceive for three years. I miscarried at 11 weeks last February, aaaaaand I have an 11 year old daughter. I'm no longer with her dad, but we're all in stable relationships and get on well (eventually!). So that's me. Looking forward to getting bang into Mumsnet!

Pip231018 · 07/04/2019 14:19

@JeccaBaby Congratulations! I am sure your daughter will be thrilled to be a big sister. I got my BFP on 1/4, I called my OH and he was like 'April fools?' And I was like 'Nooooo' x

JeccaBaby · 07/04/2019 14:25

Thanks Pip! I didn't tell my OH til today. I didn't want to break the spell somehow and also wanted to do more tests, coz he wants this so much! Good luck and love to you Flowers

1990carey · 07/04/2019 15:05

@lordofthefries Haha bless yah. Yah was a big shock for me as well, although I kinda knew something was off before i even missed my pregnancy lol. Haha bless yah. Well fingers crossed I dont have twins, defo cant be dealing with that!!! Lol! I'm super tired as well today, literally done nothing but put some washing out on the line lol!

blondie87 · 07/04/2019 15:07

Congrats to those who have just joined! Went to get my toddler up from nap time and I fell asleep so can definitely relate to the exhaustion!

Shelbybear · 07/04/2019 15:47

Think I'm due Dec 12th 😬 I think I'm about 4wks, it's really early but I've had 3 tests all come up with feint lines over last few days.

Would have preferred closer to spring but aw well u don't know when it's going to happen, least it's not Xmas! I knew this wld happen 😂 took 10 months with my first this time only 3.

Pip231018 · 07/04/2019 16:12

@JeccaBaby Excited to see how you progress! I can't wait to get a bit further along and tell people.

@blondie87 I just woke up from a nap. I didn't sleep well last night, I woke up and have been in the worst mood. When I nap though, I feel like I'm getting really good sleep. I could be wrong.

lordofthefries · 07/04/2019 16:48

When are you all planning on telling your family? So far only me and DH know, my LO knows but is too little to really understand

blondie87 · 07/04/2019 16:56

Wow lots of us are due second week of December. Baby boom!

I'm not telling anyone yet except DH. My two pre-schoolers would ask constantly when the baby's coming so I'd rather get to 20 weeks and see that things are ok before i dare mention it. I'm telling my parents in a few weeks as mum will just fret until the 12 week scan.
