Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@EmeraldRubyShark yes both my husband and I have it on our phones..... he's as interested as me as to what to expect and it also gives hints on how to help your partner 👍

EmeraldRubyShark · 30/04/2019 11:17

It’s great :) we had fun selecting the correct ethnicity baby as I’m white and he’s Indian 😂 he doesn’t have it downloaded but every week I show him what it looks like now and how big it is. He bought me a book on how to care for your baby for xmas as we’d planned to try this year and he came waving it at me last night saying I need to start reading it now so he can read it after me and we both have finished it by December 😂😊 it’s such a joy and such an incredible experience to be in this together with an enthusiastic excited father to be. I used to think with my ex I’d go it alone if necessary and wonder what it’d be like with him as he was reluctant and didn’t want kids, but now I’ve experienced this feeling of being a strong couple who really really both want this baby I don’t think I could ever want it any other way.

Had to do a dash to the supermarket at lunchtime.... I really needed Cheese spread and tomato cobs.... I've had 4 and now want to sleep lol.

I need to rein in my food consumption. I'm gonna be a whale otherwise!!! 🐳

Ail88 · 30/04/2019 17:03

Off for a early scan tomorrow after 4 days of light spotting. Fingers crossed x

Pip231018 · 30/04/2019 17:34

@Ail88 Ah good luck. I've had some light spotting the past 2 days, trying not to freak out. I'm hoping everything is as you want. X

BirdIsland · 30/04/2019 18:13

I've had bleeding this morning (more than just spotting I think) so have a scan booked for the morning. I'm expecting the worst, it was bright red and I've had cramps too. We'll see what tomorrow brings, fingers crossed for all those having scans x

Pip231018 · 30/04/2019 18:23

@BirdIsland sorry to hear that. I've had some blood too but it's not been loads but enough to worry me. How many weeks are you? X

badfurday · 30/04/2019 18:27

Hey all. Hope all who have spotting/cramps etc are doing ok. I've had some brown discharge ( sorry, tmi) but not all the time. I'm trying to think positive. My M/c started pink so hoping this is nothing to worry about. I did book a private scan for Saturday, I really can't bare the thought of having another miscarriage and I need to know either way what's going on. I've also got a home Doppler so might have a go later at trying to find the heart beat. It's all so worrying. 😕

BirdIsland · 30/04/2019 18:37

@Pip231018 I'm 7+3, so scan tomorrow should hopefully tell me either way what's happening. I haven't had any bleeding since this morning but I've still got back ache and some cramps so I'm not getting my hopes up for a good outcome.

Pip231018 · 30/04/2019 18:43

@BirdIsland I'm 7+2. I've had no real blood. I'm hoping it's just spotting. My lower back aches but it has from early on in the pregnancy. Obvs you know your body and your symptoms. I just feel a bit lost and can't tell if I feel the same or different. It's horrible. And 12 weeks seems like such a long wait. I'm probs gonna book a scan for next week or call EPU if I have any more bleeding. X

Pip231018 · 30/04/2019 18:44

@badfurday Ah, it might not be what you think. It's so easy to think the worst, but you just never know. Hopefully the scan brings you the reassurance you need x

BirdIsland · 30/04/2019 18:51

@Pip231018 definitely call if you're unsure, my GP referred me straight away to EPU. I was thinking of booking a private scan anyway due to some hip pain that felt a bit 'off' so I totally get wanting to have something before 12 weeks. This is my first pregnancy so it's hard to know what is ok and what's not, but today has definitely not been ok.

Pip231018 · 30/04/2019 19:01

@BirdIsland I've already had a private scan, I thought I was 7 weeks but they measured me at 6. Boooo! I was so annoyed to go back a week. I genuinely think there is nothing to worry about as I literally have to inspect the tissue and even after putting a pad in there was barely a mark so I think I'm ok...I hope. That's why may just book another for next week at 9 weeks.

I will cross everything for you and hope it's a good outcome. No one needs this kind of worry. X

December2018 · 30/04/2019 20:08

@IHD83 hey hun is your pelvis painful already?
I had SPD in my last pregnancy and the pelvic pain was realllly bad! It feels like it's coming back earlier this time round and with a vengeance 😩

Lilaboc1986 · 01/05/2019 06:36

Hi all, not been on in few days and been catching up on all messages. Also had some brown spotting so booked a early scan, i have uploaded, still feels like a forever wait until 12 weeks, im not really having much sickness but i have very sore boobs that just dont seen to be easing off.

Hey guys! I’m 8 weeks today. Felt horrible all last week and couldn’t eat but feel totally normal this week again! Have another private scan on Friday at 6pm. I was asked to go back to see if the second baby had a heartbeat so hoping to see two happy babies in there 😯 I swear it freaks me out when I feel normal cause I wonder how I can have twins in there especially when everyone says symptoms should be worse with twins! Cross your fingers for me 😊

@BirdIsland good luck with your scan!

IHD83 · 01/05/2019 11:33

Good luck everyone with all the scans!

@December2018 I only remember having a bit of pain on and off in my pelvis (specially after having walked for a while) at the end of the pregnancy, but not sure if that was spd. This time I’m not experiencing it so far. What I feel weak and tense down there is my pelvic floor due to the tear from birth. Hope it doesn’t last long and doesn’t get too painful 🤞🤞 Could you talk to your midwife about it? I am having an appointment with an obstetrician to check me and that’s when I will ask for a cesarean...

gwenneh · 01/05/2019 11:57

I hope everyone is getting the reassurance they need with early scans!

I had bleeding with both of my pregnancies -- loads of red, swore everything was probably over, but both times the baby was fine. I'm half expecting it to happen again soon with this one. Just wanted to offer that out there in case someone is looking for the reassurance that bleeding can look quite bad but everything can still be fine.

Booking in next week at 6+1 which will probably involve an early scan (which will do nothing for my nerves) and a lot of risk assessment. Some of the medications I'm on don't seem to be approved in pregnancy, which has me very nervous (I was hoping to stay on them so I don't get GD this time too) and my thyroid always goes weird.

Still in a weird emotional place with this pregnancy -- I wish I could enjoy it more, but it was so unexpected and DH is so very nervous. I don't feel pregnant either, had a bit of cramping and soreness but otherwise feel nothing and I don't think that's helping, balancing the usual pregnancy nerves with the emotional strangeness.

Really not looking forward to doing all of this in the U.S. either. Weeping over the "maternity leave" policy, currently.

BirdIsland · 01/05/2019 13:58

Had my scan this morning and, amazingly, everything is ok. Measuring exactly right at 7+4 and heart beating away. Even the nurse was surprised that it was fine given the symptoms I'd had. I'm still feeling anxious as it's still so early but nice to know things are ok so far.

aliensprig · 01/05/2019 14:24

Can I hop on the December bus (tentatively)?? I'm a FTM, six weeks today, due around Christmas! Would love an early pregnancy scan but the nearest clinic is too far for me to get to (I don't drive). So six more weeks of agonising wait til the first scan Sad

Thund4rcat · 01/05/2019 16:20

Hi all, not been on here for a few days so welcome to all the new people.

Well I have just spent 3 days in A&E on a drip because of hyperemesis gravidarium! They might even keep me in another night. Can barely keep anything down and am now on lots of drugs for anti nausea. Apparently this affects an unlucky 1% of pregnancies.

Started feeling sick at week 5, being sick at week 6 and now hospitalised at week 7! Feeling very sorry for myself.

IHD83 · 01/05/2019 17:07

@Thund4rcat I’m so sorry to hear that...it sounds awful and I know some friends who had that too, so I am not sure if that 1% is so accurate. One of those friends doesn’t want to get pregnant again just because of that! So I can understand the nightmare you are going through. I hope the doctors find an effective remedy to make it easier. I keep wondering why there is medication for almost everything which actually works (i.e. I suffered from strong heart burn during my last trimestre last year and just having some pills made my life easier). However, it seems that they don’t have anything good enough for hg?? I know that because my friends told me there is not too much to do...🤷‍♀️
Anyway, I hope you get better soon ❤️

BirdIsland · 01/05/2019 17:08

@Thund4rcat that sounds awful! I don't know much about HG, will it pass and you'll feel better? I hope so, these first few weeks are hard enough Thanks

Thund4rcat · 01/05/2019 17:25

@IHD83 the drugs they gave me are helping, just not quite enough for them to send me home yet. And I am on a drip so not dehydrated any more, without having to drink which makes me sick.

Thund4rcat · 01/05/2019 17:26

@birdisland apparently it is impossible to say, will likely be bad until week 12 but could be bad all through the pregnancy! Which would be terrible not only because of experiencing it but as I am self employed I don't get paid if I don't work!
