Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

Hi ladies!

Went for my assurance scan today and saw the heartbeat flickering away and then I saw something in the corner and the woman started moving the rod around to try and see the back of my womb and there it was .... a second baby 👶🏼 apparently identical twins. Couldn’t see a heartbeat on the second one as it is at the back of the womb and is a wee bit smaller so I’ve to go back in two weeks for another scan.

Feeling a little overwhelmed!

agteacht · 19/04/2019 19:11

Wow @Kiki061190 that's amazing and twins so exciting!!!! Congrats!

IHD83 · 19/04/2019 19:22

Congratulations to all of you. I was anxious in my previous preg as well and I booked an early scan when I was 8 weeks to make me feel better, because the wait to the end of the first trimestre felt way long. The doctor told me the size of the embrios was good and well attached, and my placenta was in a good place so she told me there was only a 3% of risk of miscarriage. I felt much more relaxed after that appointment and I could enjoy the pregnancy the rest of the weeks until the 12 week, when you can finally start enyoing and forgetting the horrible symptoms 😜

So ladies, do those scans if that makes you feel less anxious, it really helped me.

I don’t think I won’t do it this time as I know now I can get pregnant and go full term, and if I had a miscarriage, I would understand that this wasn’t the time and I would be able to try again in the future.

Good luck and try not to overthink!

I also downloaded an app that was useful to follow my pregnancy, it tells you size of embrio, how far you are, how many weeks left, etc... Every day it gives you tips and info about everything related to pregnancy and being a parent. I know you can find this in internet but I felt it was easier to get into the app and read daily. The app is called Pregnancy+

@Kiki061190 oh wow, congratulations! I’m an identical twin so everyone I’ve told so far says this is going to happen to me (I keep assuring them identical twins don’t run in families though!)
@IHD83 thank you, that makes me feel a bit reassured. Can’t wait for my early scan now!

Verity1989 · 19/04/2019 19:47

Hi Everyone!

I took a two tests on tues and another one today just to be sure and I got a BFP too! How long do you all wait until you get your first appointment? I just moved home and far away from my old address and hadn't had a chance to sign up to the docs yet. I did that on Weds and they told me it'll take 3 weeks for me to get on their system and in the mean time, I can send a form off to the early bird referral and they will contact me in 14 days to send me an appointment.

This is my first pregnancy so I'm kind of concerned that I have to wait that long! Is that normal? Also, I'm in the sore boob club too, and I have MASSIVE ones already that have already started to not fit in my bra properly so I've booked a maternity bra fitting in debenhams for monday!

Kiki061190 · 19/04/2019 19:59

Thanks ladies! I’m a little worried cause it’s a bit higher risk with twins so back in 2 weeks to see if the second one has a heart beat but can’t believe it still!

LPMR1989 · 19/04/2019 20:10

Not sure how I tag a response @EmeraldRubyShark but I’m trying..
we had second blood results today, hormone levels have doubled so just got to wait a week and a half for this scan to see if everything is ok.. btw I am confused with sizing but when I saw poppy seed me and my OH thought it would be nice to call it out little poppy seed 😊 I was worried about full aches too but apparently that is normal too.. tbh I see a lot of ‘normals’ but seems like every single person’s experience is different. I just have my fingers and toes and everything in between crossed.. I may just sleep for the next week and a half.. if only haha!! Xxx

1990carey · 19/04/2019 20:11

@Kiki061190 oh wow! Congratulations! That's amazing news!!

Thund4rcat · 19/04/2019 21:11

@verity1989 I had to self refer to the hospital antenatal ward and they said they don't need to see me until I am 12 weeks and they'll send me an appointment for then. Seems ages away! I did read on the NHS site that there are blood tests they are meant to do before you are 10 weeks too.

I am getting an early scan at 7 weeks too but that is separate because I did IVF so it is at the IVF clinic. So will ask about blood tests there. Otherwise would've been later than the NHS site advised!

Congratulations on your BFP!

IHD83 · 19/04/2019 21:25

I always had my first appointment with midwife around 8 weeks last year. This time has been on my 7 weeks. They take blood test and urine sample and ask some questions. They also weighted and measured me and last year they checked my blood pressure, but not this time.

December2018 · 19/04/2019 21:48

@IHD83 hey!
I read your post about your midwife appointment and then ended up neck deep in nappies (poosplosion)
I'm glad the midwife was so understanding and made you feel comfortable, apparently having 2 babies a year apart is really quite common... I mean I never used to notice double prams but they seem to be everywhere lately and most of the babies being pushed around must be a year apart..ish, reassures me every time I see one
I'm still nervous though 😂

IHD83 · 19/04/2019 22:50

@December2018 Thanks! Yes, that’s what the midwife said too, it is not unheard. I actually saw today a couple with twins in a double buggy and a third baby being carried by the father (all of them looked babies!) Not sure if they were triplets but I think the ones in the buggy were a bit older than the third one. That made me think we’re not so alone on this 😉 I’m also nervous and it will be a shock when we tell our families and friends 🤭🤭

December2018 · 19/04/2019 23:02

@IHD83 I've already told my close family & friends only so I know I've got that little support network if anything was to go wrong (god forbid)
Yeah it's like I've never even noticed double prams until this last week and now there everywhere lol
We arnt Alone in this we have each other haha
And this thread will keep me sane
I'm kinda glad I'm having another little one so close at least I've got my baby making days out the way and I'll hopefully have my life back in a few years (maybe 21 years)

Ferii · 20/04/2019 01:08

@kiki061190 Congratulations on your twins! Wow that must be so overwhelming. I had my scan today and am 6+3 with a due date of 10th December. We saw a singleton embryo with a heartbeat; I've been SO nauseous and vomiting day and night that we were wondering whether it might be a multiple so at least we know it's not now. My nausea is so severe that they've prescribed me vitamin B6 and diphenhydramine because I've been losing weight and completely unable to do anything, can't even sleep. @EmeraldRubyShark I can assure you you wouldn't be envious of the level of morning sickness I have! I'm glad I've seen a heartbeat now so I can tell people I'm pregnant and explain all the weird excuses I've been making up, I've been so antisocial because of the nausea.

blondie87 · 20/04/2019 06:29

Things are not looking good at this end. I won’t go into detail as I would hate to upset anyone but I think it’s the end of this journey for me. I have a scan on Monday so I’ll know more then.

I hope everyone else is ok.

MrsS7 · 20/04/2019 07:25

I’m so sorry @blondie87, thinking of you and hope you will be ok Flowers

December2018 · 20/04/2019 07:36

@blondie87 I'm so sorry hun I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything is ok at your scan on Monday, I'll be thinking of you today hun 💐😘

EmeraldRubyShark · 20/04/2019 08:26

Oh I know Ferii if I start getting bad sickness I’ll probably hate it but... I really want it anyway? Just to feel pregnant! Cos all I’ve had so far is such a low level mild dull ache in my uterus area. I really want some kind of proof my hormones are high other than lines on a stick! But I do hope yours eases soon. I wish you could pass it to me for a bit!

blondie87 I’m so so sorry to hear your sad news, if you feel able to share or like it might help then please don’t feel you have to keep it to yourself on this thread for fear of upsetting others, pregnancy loss will affect a third of women and sadly that means good chunk of us posting here now will be leaving the thread without a baby in December, it’s sad and scary but a fact of life and you have every right to talk about it (only if you want to of course), I’m sure we’re all here for you and nobody would put their own feelings above what you’re going through 💜

blondie87 · 20/04/2019 09:18

Thank you for all your kind words. I’m going to dip out of this thread now but I hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies.

IHD83 · 20/04/2019 10:55

@blondie87 I’m very sorry to hear that. Feel free to talk about it if you need, you won’t upset anyone. Hope everything goes ok on Monday, big hug🤞😘

EmeraldRubyShark · 20/04/2019 13:44

Of course blondie87, do what you gotta do to take care of yourself. Will be thinking of you on Monday when you have the scan 💜

Josie5555 · 21/04/2019 09:26

I'm 8 weeks today and keep feeling really dizzy so need to keep snacking (healthy). It's so frustrating though as don't feel like food.Confused

funkybum · 21/04/2019 11:58
