Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@IHD83 yeah I got my little man weighed yesterday and he's 16lbs 🙀
Whenever I pick him up 80% of my life haha my back really hurts... but I think it's just something that's unavoidable at the moment lol
I haven't been to the doctors yet, they don't usually refer to see a midwife until between 6-8 weeks where I live anyway, I'll be getting myself booked in for next week at some point when I'm at least 5 weeks 😊

December2018 · 17/04/2019 12:25

@lordofthefries yessss I've been shitting through the eye of a needle all morning 😂😂

lordofthefries · 17/04/2019 12:37

@December2018 Thank god it isn’t just me!. I’ve been shitting myself, if you pardon the pun, that it’s a bug and DS will have explosive nappies. But so far nobody else has it, so it must be a symptom.

December2018 · 17/04/2019 12:54

@lordofthefries my little one has got explosive nappies today actually 🤔

The poonami has well and truly hit our house 😂

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 13:44

@December2018 Yes it’s a bit early for you. I should get my appointment soon as I will be 7 weeks tomorrow and don’t want to leave it for too late. I think last year they called me first asking me many questions about pregnancy and family history, and then they sent me a text with the appointment. But not sure this time as it’s the second and they have alteady my details. It’s a bit annoying they haven’t been in contact yet 🤔

December2018 · 17/04/2019 13:54

@IHD83 you'd think they would have contacted you quicker this time around tho with them already having your details, I have to book in soon because I'm rhesus negative and apparently it can affect a second pregnancy? But I'm not too sure on the details I'm on google now 🤔

Thund4rcat · 17/04/2019 17:46

@lordofthefries arg, same here. Diarrhoea today and googled and saw it was a symptom. Also I had heartburn worse than I ever had before Sunday through to Tues and that is also a symptom.

1990carey · 17/04/2019 18:21

@lordofthefries yes! Mine keeps going from one to the other, one day I have diarrhoea and then I may not go for 2 days (very unusual for me as I'm usually very regular!)
Also had my first midwife appointment yesterday! Went very well, my midwife is lovely and she was easy to get on with. It's just nice to get the ball rolling! I have a blood test on Tuesday and they said I will be having my first scan at 12 weeks, so should get a letter through the post soon, with a date! Yay! It defo made it feel more real! I've not let myself think about it actually happening too much, I've been convinced something will go wrong, theres still 5 weeks till I'm 12 weeks so trying not to get too excited yet!

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 19:26

@December2018 I had a call this afternoon from the hospital and they booked me an appointment with the midwife tomorrow at 9 am. Let’s see what they tell me. Will keep you updated 😉

December2018 · 17/04/2019 20:22

@IHD83 awww brill! Good luck and let me know what they say 😍😘
I'm ringing tomorrow morning, my GP surgery closed half day today and I totally forgot 😂

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 20:49

@December2018 Thanks! 🤞😘

Firsttimer144 · 18/04/2019 06:00

@IHD83 Congrats to you too!
I can imagine you're exhausted. When DS was 4 months I was in a sleep deprived haze. Although my 19 month old still doesn't sleep through regularly!

Shelbybear · 18/04/2019 08:38

Anyone else desperate to know whether they are having a girl or boy?

I think I'll wait till the 20wk scan and see if they can tell then. I'm going to get an additional private scan about 30wks just to check everything is going well. I did that last time and it was very reassuring. No scan between 20 wks and delivery seems like so long.

1990carey · 18/04/2019 08:40

@Shelbybear I'm defo gonna find out as soon as I can what I'm having!

blondie87 · 18/04/2019 09:10

Even though this is my third, I'm definitely finding out! I've found out and had a surprise. Having a surprise was lovely but I'm desperate to know. I have two of the same sex already and I'm happy either way but there's no way I can wait.

I'm 6 weeks today and not feeling sick at all. It's slightly worrying me because in my two previous pregnancies I felt awful! Anyone else not feeling sick yet? I'm happy not to as long as it's not a sign that things aren't progressing as they should.

duebaby2 · 18/04/2019 09:20

@December2018 if you had the anti - d injection in your first pregnancy, your second baby will be ok. It can be harmful to you and baby if you didn't have the injection and your second is rh positive.

Unfortunately you still have to have the injection in this pregnancy unless your hospital do a screening to find out what babies blood type is during pregnancy

December2018 · 18/04/2019 09:22

I had a private gender scan last time at 15 weeks and it was lovely I got a blue teddy bear with olivers heartbeat recored inside and it's just such a lovely thing to keep... so I think I'm going to do the same this time... 10 more weeks seems like such a long time to wait though 😂
And the 4D scan at 29 weeks was AMAZING!! I loved every second of it... also got a teddy bear haha

December2018 · 18/04/2019 09:23

@duebaby2 ohh thank god for that! Thankyou 😊

Shelbybear · 18/04/2019 09:35

I might get the gender scan at 16 wks not sure I can wait 😬. I got the pink heartbeat teddy too with the 4D scan. I got it free as she was such a wee monkey that the pics were pretty shit, had her foot right up in her cheek 😂 I went back a second time and it was same. I shld have known she was trouble then!

@blondie87 Ur due date must be same as mine I'm also 6 weeks today and no sickness or feeling sick 🙌 I was same last time. Enjoy it!

fonxey · 18/04/2019 09:41

I can't wait to have my first scan. Only 5 weeks now though so a little wait.

I always thought knowing the gender wouldn't matter, I'm not going to start buying it pink or blue just because it's a boy or a girl. But now i am pregnant i am more curious just to know something about my baby.

Argh. I can't really call it a baby yet. Still a pip. Hasn't even got a brain let alone a heart. Getting there though!

blondie87 · 18/04/2019 09:43

I'm due 12th @Shelbybear! Did your sickness kick in later? I can't remember if I started feeling rough at 7 weeks. I think it's been erased from memory!

lordofthefries · 18/04/2019 09:54

@fonxey I want to know the gender too, it just makes me feel a bit closer to the little one. Only 9 more weeks and I can book an early gender scan!. I keep trying to bring up names with DH but he thinks it’s too early

IHD83 · 18/04/2019 10:41

@December2018 So I had the appointment and the midwife was very nice. She actually told me it happened the same to her and her children are 1 year apart 🤣
She said everything went ok with her two children and I shouldn’t worry. She took blood and urine test from me and I have my 12 weeks scan booked for 28th June.
She was pretty relaxed about anything in terms of risks and complications more than any other pregnancy and the birth shouldn’t be a major problem. I said I had a 3b grade tear from my previous pregnancy so she will refer me to a doctor to check my pelvic floor and discuss options just in case there was a risk of damage.

@blondie87 Don’t worry about symptoms, I am 7 weeks today and no big sickness yet 🙌
I feel tired and like don’t want to eat, but no nausea. I don’t remember exactly when sickness kicked last time but I think it was around 7-8 weeks. I would enjoy it as Shelbybear says! :)

IHD83 · 18/04/2019 10:50

Sorry 28th of May 12 weeks scan, not june,.. 🤪

Pip231018 · 18/04/2019 11:43

I'm considering the IONA test from 10 weeks and will confirm risks of abnormalities as well as gender. I know it's pricey but I'd rather know, plus get a scan.

Not decided yet but contemplating it. I have to get through the first scan on Sunday first.
