Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

I told my parents immediately. It was my second cycle of IVF and they knew I was doing IVF so were expecting a yes/no on my official test day. I want their support if it goes wrong and also my mother is elderly and unwell so if she doesn't survive the next few months I would have wanted her to know I was pregnant.

I am not telling work until at least 3 months. Luckily I work from home and my main client is in the US so I can get away with morning appointments without anyone knowing. I'm freelance so won't get any maternity pay or guaranteed job to return to when I take a break... Don't get any sick pay either. But I'm hoping they will take me back part time after a short break anyway.

Hello all!

Due December 19, we were TTC with endo and only one Fallopian tube and somehow got pregnant on the first cycle. Need an early scan to check it’s not ectopic which I’m waiting for but hopefully it’ll be around weeks 7-8 as I’d like to check for the heartbeat. I have endometriosis and a chronic pain condition that means I will be taking morphine daily throughout the pregnancy so I’ll be closely monitored.

I’m only 4+6 today. First pregnancy. So worried, I want this to stick so much but I’m very cautious and I know at this stage it’s really a purely chemical change. No symptoms other than a week of feeling super nauseous the week I conceived, and once I stood up and went so dizzy my vision went black! I can’t wait for symptoms to kick in 😂

Time feels like it drags so slowly, only found out 48 hours ago, can’t possibly imagine waiting for all of these scans not knowing the outcome. Doesn’t feel real and it’s so scary. Not the idea of a baby but the idea it might not work out. I just am desperate for some reassurance. I normally find time passes really quickly for me in general and the months whiz by but right now I guess cos it’s a novelty I just feel like time is inching by slowly and I want it to hurry so I can feel a bit more out of the danger zone or move on if it’s not viable.

Is anyone else getting pain/cramps in the same place all the time? I have a regular pain just above my hip bone, same place each time and it's starting to worry me a bit. I think I'd be ok if the pain moved but it's been the same place for a couple of days. I'm only 5+4 so still a while until I have my first midwife appointment.

xoxhayleyxox · 16/04/2019 20:46

@BirdIsland I had cramps and pain on my right and had to go to EPU for tests, they done bloods and scan, bloods all good but couldn't see much on the scan so I'm getting re scanned tomorrow to make sure baby is in the womb. I called 111 and they sent me to the hospital so I'd check just to be safe. I'm sure it's all fine, I'm still getting weird and wonderful pains but if you're worried x x

Luuluu29 · 16/04/2019 20:46

Hi all, I am 6 weeks 1 day pregnant. First baby. I had an early scan done at 5 weeks 5 days and confirmed little peanut, yolk sac and a fluttery heartbeat 😊💗

Yesterday, I started to bleed, it’s not as heavy as a period and I don’t have cramps. I am freaking out. Spoke with the early pregnancy unit who said they would see me on the 30th but I am struggling to calm down. No clots, just red/light pink blood. Is anyone else having this? I had a miscarriage 8 years ago and from what I can remember it wasn’t like this.

BirdIsland · 16/04/2019 20:51

Thanks @xoxhayleyxox , do you mind me asking how far along you are? My local EPU seems very prescriptive about referrals - you can't self refer, and the website says you have to be 6+ weeks and having bleeding to get referred, which I'm not.

I might call the doctor tomorrow if the pain hasn't eased up or moved.

xoxhayleyxox · 16/04/2019 20:54

@BirdIsland I'm 5+1, I was 4+2 when I started getting the pains. I was told to go to my local walk in centre and the GP over there called over to Gynae and they wanted to see me so sent me over to EPU, I'm not sure you cal self refer to mine either but if they're worried they'll do something! Yep good idea, I'm sure it's nothing but if it's affecting you probably best to get it checked. I have my scan in the morning so praying baby is in the right place and all ok! X

BirdIsland · 16/04/2019 21:02

That's really helpful @xoxhayleyxox, thanks so much, and good luck with the scan tomorrow, it's all so stressful isn't it

fonxey · 16/04/2019 21:07

@Luuluu29 i can't offer any advice. From what I've read is not uncommon for women to bleed early in their period and that unless it is bright red with clots probably little to worry about. However best to get it checked.

I hope everything will be ok.

I've been getting the of cramp bit lately especially if going upstairs or moving about, I've been getting a pain in my vagina. And today when i was standing for a bit i felt a real pressure in my vagina. Confused Kinda felt like during early period, that draggy feeling.

I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow. I feel so worried. It is still so early. Anything could happen. It's barely anything more than a splodge really. A bunch of cells not even that recognisable. I think it's only really from now that the enbryo quickly start developing the main groundworks.
Now it's only a pip.

I think by week 7 it will at least be slightly more recognisable and will have a heart. I'll feel better then i think, knowing that it at looks like something even if not out of the main woods yet.

So much to go wrong at the moment. Life is so precarious.

December2018 · 16/04/2019 21:25

@EmeraldRubyShark due date buddies!!

Kiki061190 · 16/04/2019 22:10

@BirdIsland I’ve been having cramps the past 2 days almost like the ones I would have during my period. Odd sensation! it’s had me worried but apart from some pink/brown discharge 2 weeks ago when my period was due I’ve not had any bleeding! Got me worried tho 😖

xlovelyvibes · 16/04/2019 22:50

Hi all 👋👋

1st time momma here 7+2 had an early scan at 6+3 and due 1st December

I've been in hospital once with dehydration and my morning sickness is alllll day. It's 100% my partners because he is a pain in my ass aswell. I get sleepy ALL the time and need a nap in the afternoon 😂 I'm 24 and usually sleep till 1 in the afternoon but now I wake up between 7-9 let me get back to normal baby 😂😂

Twiglet2353 · 17/04/2019 07:07

Hi guys, guess I should join this thread. I'm 6+2 with first pregnancy, conceived through ivf.
Nausea has kicked in the past couple of days. Sore boobs too but that's from the progesterone pessaries I'm on I think.
Had a scan at 5+2 for pelvic pain, saw gestational sac and start of yolk sac. Fighting the urge to book private scan before my next scheduled one with the unit on the 29th!

Due 9th December Smile

EmeraldRubyShark · 17/04/2019 07:29

Heyyyy December2018!

How are you getting on?

December2018 · 17/04/2019 08:09

@EmeraldRubyShark hey there! I'm very sick this morning my little boy has the worst farts known to man! Every time he pops one out I'm wretching like a crazy woman 😂
What about you? X

EmeraldRubyShark · 17/04/2019 08:21

Sounds terrible 😂 I’m doing fine so far, no real symptoms other than a bit dizzy standing up a few times and feeling emotional and crying at random things. I’m wanting the other symptoms to kick in so I can feel pregnant tbh! I’d love it for the sickness to start soon 😂

December2018 · 17/04/2019 08:28

@EmeraldRubyShark I said that! And now I want this sickness to end and soon! Haha
I wasn't sick at all last time round
The symptoms are reassuring though aren't they... I'm sure yours will kick in soon 😜

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 09:14

Omg girls you are so crazy wanting symptoms 🤣
I really don’t care how reassuring are, I don’t want them! Haha. I know a lot of pregnancies went well without them.
@December2018 what about changing nappies with poo...god, everyday I wish he poos when his daddy is already at home so he will change him haha. But I haven’t been that lucky yet 😰

December2018 · 17/04/2019 09:18

@IHD83 ohhhh don't get me started on the nappies 😂😂

Firsttimer144 · 17/04/2019 10:20

Hi ladies!
I got my bfp on 26th March, but was being very cautious and didn't want to join too early. I have a 19 month old DS and I'm due 7 December with baby #2 (6wks 4 days currently).

I've just seen a fluttering heart and yolk sack after a visit to the epu this morning, following abdo pain and spotting. All looks fine, so I'm very relieved Grin. Would encourage anyone who experiencing like this to give your GP a call and he can refer you (well, where I am anyway).

In terms of symptoms, I was worried at first as I felt distinctively not pregnant, but then the sicky feeling kicked in. I'm not as exhausted as I was with the first, but that could be because I've been in a state of constant tiredness since DS was born! Confused

LetsDoThisAgain · 17/04/2019 10:22

"Shelbybear

@LetsDoThisAgain That's really bad. I take it you haven't told your work and that's why you had to take time off unpaid."

I'm an hourly pay agency worker, no contract, was never paid last pregnancy for time at appts.

I'm only part time now so hoping to get all appts on days off but booking in was only available on a day I work.

We're not telling most people about the pregnancy until the CVS test results come back, If they come back with good news. That's about 9 weeks from now.

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 11:40

@Firsttimer144 Congratulations! I’m due on 5th December, quite close dates :)
I also have a son (will be 4 months next week) and I feel exhausted, more than my previous preg. But I guess it’s because mine is still too young and I’m kind of having two preg in a row

December2018 · 17/04/2019 11:44

@IHD83 I feel ya girl!!! 😂😂

IHD83 · 17/04/2019 12:11

@December2018 What do you think about holding our babies? Is their weight too much for us in this condition or will be ok? I think about it every time I take him. Have you had any appointments yet? I’m still waiting for the hospital to come back to me, might call them if I don’t get anything tomorrow...

lordofthefries · 17/04/2019 12:11

Had anyone noticed a change in their..bowel movements?. I’ve been getting a really bad burning sensation in my stomach and then I have the trots. Apparently it’s a symptom, but I don’t know whether I just have a bug?
