Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

@LetsDoThisAgain That's really bad. I take it you haven't told your work and that's why you had to take time off unpaid.

I'm going to call doctors tomorrow and see what u need to do to get booked in. How does it all work where all of you ladies are? I think it differs from each area.

So for me last time which wld have been 2.5 years ago I had to go to the doctors and fill in a form. I was supposed to get contacted about an appointment with midwife but I wasn't. I chased it up and they said they wld just do one long appointment rather than 2 separate ones. Midwife moaned all way through my appointment about how she only 1 hour to do the 2 appointments and there was so much to get through 🙄

Anyone else suffering heartburn? Yesterday lunchtime I ate a massive meal of gnocchi, tomato sauce and lots of mozzarella and ever since have had quite a bad pain in my solar plexus area. Pharmacist says it's a pregnancy symptom and I read its a side effect of progesterone, and because I did IVF I am on progesterone pessaries. Need to buy some ginger to make ginger tea tomorrow!

Also, after two very strong lines on clear blue and frer on Fri and sat, on sat, sun and this morning I used those little internet cheapies and all three have been quite faint, and not getting darker. So that is worrying me. Even though the cheapie was faint using the same wee sample as the frer (which was strong) ... It's the lack of progression/darkening that is worrying me. Anyone able to reassure me?

1990carey · 15/04/2019 21:24

@Shelbybear I phoned my drs and they gave me a number to ring for the midwifery team in my area and I just text or phone that number direct. I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon! I know not to expect much but it's also nice to finally feel like things are starting lol.

@Thund4rcat I only got really feint lines on those cheepo tests I'll try and upload a pic, but still got a positive on clear blue digital

@mum2DDB yayyyy!!! December 19th buddies!

It was so magical when I had my 2018 December baby, getting ready to take him home for Christmas was just lovely!
And I'm so exited to be doing it all again 😍👶

Ferii · 16/04/2019 05:50

I have morning (all the time!) sickness now :( Started 2 nights ago, sat bolt upright in bed at 3am and just vom'd. Last night I was in the bathroom from 2-6am, lying on the bathroom floor next to the toilet. I was perfectly happy with having few pregnancy symptoms and this new development is just horrible. I feel sick when I drink, if I eat, if I don't eat and when I'm eating. I've never eaten a cheese toasty so slowly, trying to figure out if I was gonna vom after every bite. This had better be the world's best behaved baby to make up for it! Had my second HCG blood test today (first one was last Friday) and got the next scan on Friday. Top tip: If you're not sick yet, clean your loo now, wish I'd cleaned mine before I gave it a close up inspection the last few nights!

Thund4rcat · 16/04/2019 06:51

@december2018 thank you that made me feel so much better. And today the line is a bit darker so am very relieved.

@ferii oh no that sounds awful! I am 5 weeks today and just started feeling sick... I have a weak stomach at the best of times so really not looking forward to this. On the other hand it is a bit reassuring to me!

IHD83 · 16/04/2019 09:40

@Ferii sounds awful... sorry to hear that. How many weeks are you?
In my previous pregnancy I was only able to eat sandwiches or just bread. Everything else made me feel sick. I used to love avocado on toast for breakfast but I couldn’t handle it in the first trimestre. When this time passes, things get to normal again although I was still not feeling good about eating avocado...🤷‍♀️
Hope it goes away soon for you! 🤞

Shelbybear · 16/04/2019 09:56

@1990carey that wld be so much easier the way your area does it. I've just called doctor and yes it still a form I have to go round and fill in then then someone will supposedly contact me with an appointment.

Boobs are getting bigger, looked down this morning and was like wow, not sore yet though.

2 yr old currently jumping all over me 🙈

IHD83 · 16/04/2019 10:56

I also had to fill in a form online in my hospital and they would contact me within 5 days. I did it last Friday but didn’t receive any answer yet. I don’t remember from the last time whether it was a call or a letter

Josie5555 · 16/04/2019 11:33

Sorry if TMI. I'm 7+2 and have just had a lot of discharge. Has anyone else had this?! I'm very worried. Thanks in advance... x

duebaby2 · 16/04/2019 13:10

Oooh it's starting to feel more real! Just got my booking in appointment for the second week of May - I'll be 8 weeks that week.

I also got an immigration form so I get free healthcare even though I've lived in the uk my entire life and all my family are British and I'm entitled to free healthcare on the nhs anyway. I've also got to bring my EHIC if I have one. I never had to do any of this for my last baby

If anyone wondering it took a week for me to get the forms and appointment through after referring over the phone

Thund4rcat · 16/04/2019 14:35

@worriedbutterfly hopefully you will get a notification to help you find this thread...

Kiki061190 · 16/04/2019 15:27

Hey ladies!

Got my letters in this morning for my midwife appointment and first scan! Midwife on May 8th and scan on May 30th. Feels real now!

6 weeks tomorrow, still no sickness but my boobs are back to being sore again and having some cramping again.

Do any of you feel the wait to the midwife appointment drags? First trimester is just a waiting game!

Also can I ask advice? When are you telling your parents about your pregnancy? I have in laws that travel for work and they are only home next week when I would be 7 weeks. Apart from that I won’t see them in person until July potentially and I didn’t want to tell them about their first grandchild over FaceTime? I’m scared it’s too early so I’m stuck on the situation!

Shelbybear · 16/04/2019 15:32

@Kiki061190 I'm going to tell me parents and sister this wkend I'll only be 6wks. I think the sooner the better for your immediate family. Can't imagine if I ended up having a miscarriage and having to tell my mum when she didn't even know I was pregnant.

Kiki061190 · 16/04/2019 15:47

@Shelbybear that makes me feel so much better! I was worried it was too early but your right about if anything were to go wrong!

December2018 · 16/04/2019 16:22

@Josie5555 hey girl!
I had tonnes of it in my last pregnancy and it's totally normal, it will probably increase too, I wore a panty liner allll the time in my last pregnancy 😜

December2018 · 16/04/2019 16:24

@Kiki061190 I told my mum straight away lol I ran round to her house waving a pissy pregnancy test in her face 😂😂
....OOOOOPS!
She's made up though! Shes demanded that she wants a football team of grandchildren 😳

1990carey · 16/04/2019 16:38

@Kiki061190 I actually have just come back from my first midwife appointment, i booked it when I was 4 weeks and I'm 7+1 today, and actually I didn't feel like it was too much of a wait for it! But then saying that I had lots to keep me busy! Now gotta keep myself busy for the next 5 weeks till my first scan lol!
Also I told my mum and sister a couple of days after finding out, the timing worked out well as it was my mums mothers day gift! We both cried a lot! I'm telling my dad this weekend as his Easter surprise, and I'll be nearly 2 months when I tell him.
My step son and my little brother and sister ( there all children under 9) I wont tell probably till im around 14 weeks, just so I no everything's ok, because it will be harder for them to understand if something goes wrong.

Kiki061190 · 16/04/2019 17:03

Awww thanks ladies I feel better about telling them now. I feel like I’m keeping the hardest secret 🤷‍♀️ I have a reassurance scan on Friday when I’m 6 + 2 so hoping I’ll see something then 😀

duebaby2 · 16/04/2019 17:06

Anyone told their work yet or if not when they plan to? I'm waiting to tell family until 12 week scan but I'm worried if I wait that long with work, they'll tell me off because of H&S - I've been unpacking deliveries and stacking shelves (only doing what I can manage). As far as I know there is no policy of when to tell them.

blondie87 · 16/04/2019 17:39

@Kiki061190 I had a similar dilemma; in laws up this weekend then my parents the following week. I'm going to tell each face to face but my parents are rubbish at keeping it to themselves! Oh well, it's my third so no one will care 😂

Josie5555 · 16/04/2019 18:07

@December2018 thank you so much. I've been panicking all day.

In relation to work it depends what you do. In my job as soon as I say I will be taken off normal duties and then the world will know so I haven't told them and don't plan to all being well until 12 weeks x

1990carey · 16/04/2019 18:40

I told my work quite early on because I work with children and theres always bugs going around, so had to tell early on for health risks

Shelbybear · 16/04/2019 18:44

@duebaby2 Yeah I'm not sure re work either. Your not entitled to paid time off obv unless they know.

For me, really depends when I can get my appointments in, if it's during work time I'm going to tell them. As wld need to use my own time for it. If I start getting sick etc then I'll also tell them. If I can get away with not telling them until after the scan I will.

Last time I managed to keep it secret until after I had my scan. I was 14 wks when I told them. I said I had a doctors appointment for booking in appointment and scan was scheduled during a week of annual leave.
