Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

Hi @Trinnidad; I’ve got my scan on Tuesday at 10:50am. I will be 12+5 and I think I’m equally excited and nervous. Thankfully DH is yet to find a job since we moved so can come with me and is keeping my feet on the ground!! We have decided not to have the combined test because it would be flawed by our circumstances and the midwife said she cannot guarantee they would use the correct data or that the results would be accurate. Afterwards we are going adventuring to a place near Falmouth for lunch and exploring - something different to look forward to!!

Thanks @saffy347 and @Frizzy1986 that's helpful input. I'm it high risk (I'm 32 and no family history) but we thought we'd just go for the test anyway as the midwife said they recommend it in case there is anything you need to prepare for.

I think our tests are done locally (non mainland UK) so they get turned around fairly quickly. My booking-in bloods were fine and I got a pretty prompt call from my doctor confirming. I'll ask them the timeframes tomorrow anyway.

@Rememberallball I've been following your posts from the start - I hope you get a good look at your twins at this scan! I can imagine your circumstances might affect the testing but it sounds like you're monitored closely anyway!

I'll be thinking of everyone having their scans this week, as every week. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I'll let you know how it goes

For now I'm most worried about drinking the right amount of fluid at the right time...!

So many scans this week! Very exciting.
I have one today too, but am just 9 weeks (I'm not in the UK and it's standard to see your gynaecologist every couple of weeks at first who also scans so great reassurance).
We will have the Harmony test done next week then will have the nuchal scan on 16th April. I am 41 so high risk and want to cover all bases!

I'm currently waiting at my GP though as I now have a sore throat on top of this cold I can't shake. I need something to help clear it all up but know there isn't much you can take when pregnant.

Doop · 25/03/2019 08:44

I didnt make it into work today. Im scared ill feel like this for the next 6 months. Waiting on the go so i can at least see a chiropractor or physio asap. I emailled a private chiropractor and he said i probably have sacro-iliac dysfunction. If this is of any use to anyone. I dont think there is a lot of difference to be honest.

Woolly17 · 25/03/2019 10:05

I've got my scan tomorrow afternoon. Am quite nervous (fingers crossed for a healthy baby).
The nausea is definitely going now. But I'm still exhausted.
I remember the last time that the reason for the full bladder is to push the uterus out of the pelvis a bit. So the later you have a scan the less necessary it will be.

Trinnidad · 25/03/2019 10:06

Ooh all the best for today @givememarmite !

@Doop sorry to hear that - if you need the time off you take it, your welfare is the most important thing. I'm sure the dr will be able to help. My SIL had pgp and she was told to move in certain ways - eg to slowly lower herself straight down when sitting or kneeling down, not bending forwards. She said she was fine with upwards/downwards movements, but not twisting and so on.

Doop · 25/03/2019 11:05

@Trinnidad I dont seem to be ok with any movements or positions. Just a constant gnawing pain in my lower back, left buttock and left leg. Scared it wont leave.

fluffyunicorns86 · 25/03/2019 11:40

Hi all hope you are all ok? I have my scan next Tuesday at 13+4 but I am so anxious and the nearer it gets the more anxious I am getting. Hope everyone who has scans this week go well x

Rememberallball · 25/03/2019 12:10

@Saffy347, it could well be that you’ll get the results once you’ve had your scan and they’ve added the measurement along with the blood results. I say this because it my area, my midwife told me, one hospital does the bloods before the scan and does the final calculation after the scan, but the other hospital does the bloods at the same time as the scan and you get the results through the post.

Thought I'd just check-in to say all went well at our scan. So lovely to see. DH's face was a picture! Baby really didn't want to get in the right position though so they had me wiggling and jumping up and down in the sonography room! They were really helpful and told me to ring in on Friday if I hadn't had my test results, because they might be able to tell me in time for Mother's Day.

givememarmite · 25/03/2019 13:59

Glad to hear your scan went well @Trinnidad that's great news! Hope you get your results in time to tell your parents.

My scan went well too, measuring spot on and all looks good. So relieved! Just got to get through the next three weeks til nuchal scan etc...I'm so impatient!!

Trinnidad · 25/03/2019 15:37

Great new @givememarmite - so glad to hear it went well.

They moved my EDD by just 2 days to 9th Oct now.

fluffyunicorns86 · 25/03/2019 15:57

@Trinidad and @givememarmite glad your scans went well today

HarryPottersSecretSister · 25/03/2019 17:12

@Trinnidad and @givememarmite over the moon to read all is well with you both ❤️

Frizzy1986 · 25/03/2019 18:30

@Trinnidad and @givememarmite fab news both of you. Lovely to hear more happy scan news.

I told my senior at work today and she was really happy for me. She then told the team boss who was happy for me and told me not to feel bad. I still do a bit.
I then told the rest of the girls in my small office who also seemed happy for me, but do think there is an underlying worry that the business won't get any cover in and they'll have to pick up the work. I don't see how that would be feasible as my job is full time so if I'm not there, another full time staff member won't be able to fit my work in on top of their own. I've never worked anywhere that hasn't hired contracted staff to cover so hoping that won't be the case.

I'm now feeling I need to slowly spread the news round the office. Then it's all out there.
In other news dd (who is 5) told EVERYONE at her school today. She's clearly very excited.

givememarmite · 25/03/2019 19:15

Thanks everyone! Feeling positive about it all now I've got past the date of the mmc last time.

@Frizzy1986 so glad to hear that your managers took the news so well today, must be a relief for you. I'm sure with two of you off on mat leave they will get at least one cover in. How long will you take off?

So sweet that your DD told everyone! She must be very excited Smile

Frizzy1986 · 25/03/2019 19:57

@givememarmite ideally I want to take a whole year. It will be a big stretch as it was last time and dh was on about £10k more salary, but I'll never get the time back and I'm not fortunate to be able to go back to work part time so it's my only chance.

neuroticnumpty · 25/03/2019 19:58

Hi everyone! Back from my booking appointment today. All went well except for a really high reading on the carbon monoxide test. They asked my dp to also take it. My reading was 5 and his was 1. I can't work it out at all. I've bought a detector and will leave it in the kitchen tonight and take it in the car tomorrow.
Has anyone else experienced this?

GinMama1 · 25/03/2019 20:54

neuroticnumpty I had the same thing! Except my reading was about 7 and DH was 3 or 4. The only things I could think of were that I'd just got off the tube, and also that I had a cold. No idea of that makes a difference. I'm less convinced that it's to do with our house as DH had come from home and I'd come from work.

Claireb2203 · 26/03/2019 10:46

Does anyone get bloating right under their boobs? So uncomfortable. Also need to invest in new bras, I got bigger ones but already uncomfortable. Scan is on Thursday, nervous and excited. Thinking about summer wardrobe and what's going to be the most comfortable in the heat. If anyone can recommend good brands that are not too expensive as won't be wearing again, anyone else thinking about summer wardrobe?

Woolly17 · 26/03/2019 11:51

@trinidad and @givememarmite great news about positive scans!

Woolly17 · 26/03/2019 11:53

@claireb2203 I tend to keep an eye on the sales - especially H&M and New Look for basics and non office wear. For office stuff... I'm doing my best with what I have that's a bit roomy for now.
