Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

Scan all OK. Putting me at 12+3 and I thought 12 exactly. And I have a posterior placenta this time. Very excited about this as dd was anterior so I didn't feel much movement at all.

Secretlifeofme · 22/03/2019 13:23

That's great news @Frizzy1986! Congrats! And @Doop glad to hear you've got your date at last Smile

@secretlifeofme I have popped much earlier this time (I'm 12+2 by my calcs or 11+6 by the booking midwifes calcs). I didn't really start showing till week 17 or so. I have a proper little baby bump already which also makes me suspect my week calc is correct (based on length of period and likely conception date). I could see a bump from week 10 this time.

Woolly17 · 22/03/2019 13:25

@Frizzy1986 great news!
@Doop good they finally got in touch!

fluffyunicorns86 · 22/03/2019 13:38

@frizzy1986 glad scan went well

@doop glad you got a call from midwife and got a booking in appointment

@secretlifeofme I am pretty sure I am starting to show aswell.

GinMama1 · 22/03/2019 13:45

@secretlifeofme I'm sure I'm starting to show too. I know it's a lot of bloat at this stage but I feel it's very obvious!

Frizzy1986 · 22/03/2019 14:21

Thanks everyone. Due date is now 1st October. Took ages after the scan to do the bloods as it appears we timed it at the lunch break so we literally waited for them to have their lunch. Cost us an extra £2 parking and now we are rushing home as I need to drive to Manchester.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 24/03/2019 06:25

Hi Ladies, glad to hear everyone is doing well.

I'm 10 weeks and 3 days today, as of yesterday I suddenly thought to myself I felt very normal. No sickness, cramping, still tired though. It makes me worry the sudden lack symptoms.
Anyone experience similar? Xxx

Woolly17 · 24/03/2019 06:34

@positivethinkingrainbow my MS has started to go now. The peak is supposed to be around the week 8/9 mark so you may just be enjoying a bit of a lift.
I'm still exhausted and headachey but the nausea has started to go.
However if you're worried give the midwives a call and see if you can get an early scan?

Frizzy1986 · 24/03/2019 07:33

@positivethinkingrainbow the placenta can start to take over from around 9 weeks so some people do find that their symptoms start to lessen. I think my nausea is starting to be less of an issue although it's still definitely there if I don't eat regularly (12+5)

I am not sure a midwife would arrange a scan for loss of symptoms though, without any obvious signs of concern (which is good as it means that the symptom loss in itself isn't that concerning to them) but you could look at a private one if you are worried and don't think you can wait until your 12 week scan.

bea179 · 24/03/2019 07:47

Hi everyone, can I join?
I'm 9+6 having my first baby, due 21st October.
Scan is at 12+2 but I had an early one at 7+4.
I can't wait for the next scan, baby should look a bit more baby like and we can finally start telling people!

princesstinnedpeach · 24/03/2019 08:04

I would love for my sickness to be dying down but no such luck! I'm 10+5...that placenta needs to start pulling its feckin weight 😭 my scan isn't until the 10th April though so I'm praying that the sickness is a sign that the baby's doing well until then.

Doop · 24/03/2019 10:45

My back was so bad the lest 3 days that my partner suggested i went to A&E in the night. I cant sleep, cant sit, cant walk and it makes me want to cry. Its really getting me down. So i was googling how to fix it, assuming it was sciatica but found this artical.... www.babycentre.co.uk/a564618/pelvic-girdle-pain-pgp
Im so fed up
@bea179 hello! I think we have the same due date... except i havent had a scan yet x

CaramelCluster · 24/03/2019 13:35

Hey ladies, hope everyone is doing ok in these early stages.

I have a question for those that may have experience with this: I'm currently 10 weeks with mild but constant cramping (had it non stop all day today) has anyone else had this, or previously had this with past pregnancies? Basically feels like period pain but less painful, but what I read it seems to go away (if it's constant it's advised to get checked out) thought I'd ask here as well

HarryHarry · 24/03/2019 17:07

@Doop I’ve got awful back pain too. It wakes me up at night and I can’t get comfortable in any position. I’m not sure if it’s pregnancy-related or just from carrying around my son (he’s 24 pounds!) or maybe both! Thinking about going to a physiotherapist.

Doop · 24/03/2019 17:13

@HarryHarry its completely debilitating...and i am feeling very down about it. From what ive read, carrying toddlers, especially one one hip can inflame the situation. Advice seems to be to manage it with a physio or chiropractor to stop symptons persisting for years!!! It really scares me as I dont know what to do to ease it. Its constant pain at the moment.

Woolly17 · 24/03/2019 18:45

@ caramelcluster I had a crampy pregnancy with DD1. I'm a bit crampy now. It was pretty constant throughout my pregnancy and I got braxton hicks really early on. Apparently it sometimes happens...

Frizzy1986 · 24/03/2019 19:20

@caramelcluster I've had a fair bit of cramping on and off. Not painful, but uncomfortable. At times I've winced a little and had to rub the area to get some comfort.
Everything was perfect on my 12 week scan though so I'm assuming that it is totally OK and just me feeling all that stretching, pulling and changes my body is going through.

Tomorrow is D-day for me at work. I'll be telling my senior my news (and that I'm about 10 days or so behind her)
I'm going to let her tell the next boss up as her shock news last week makes me not want to be the one to give him a heart attack with my news. Then he'll tell the director and I'll feel a little less stressed and can start enjoying the ride.

CaramelCluster · 24/03/2019 19:36

Ah thanks for the replies @Woolly17 & @Frizzy1986. I went to a&e as the pain became really bad this morning, turns out all ok (I have fibroids so might be making the cramps a bit worse?)

All the best with telling your boss tomorrow, must be exciting getting to tell others besides family. And glad all was well at your 12 week! 👍🏽 xx

GinMama1 · 24/03/2019 19:59

@princesstinnedpeach ready for my placenta to kick in too! I'm 9+4 and feeling terrible. I had horrendous stomach ache and an upset stomach overnight so I'm tired too. My scan is also 10 April and I'm feeling very impatient.

I also have terrible back pain but assume it's largely toddler related. Hormones relax all your joints too so it can be tough on your body. @Doop I had pgp last time and am expecting it back. I'm looking into physio etc already.

Good luck @Frizzy1986!

Trinnidad · 24/03/2019 20:59

Anybody else have their 12-wk scan this week? Got mine tomorrow morning (11.30). It's my first scan so bit nervous as well as excited. DH and I have booked the day off so however it goes we don't have to go straight back to work.

We're getting the NT/combined test at the scan - anyone know how long the results take? We were hoping if all is well we could speak to our parents on Mothering Sunday.

@Trinnidad and @saffy347 they say if there is anything to worry about then they call you to go in. Well that's what my trust does.
I'm my area samples are sent to Bolton for testing and no news is good news. If there is low risk then you get a letter within about 3 - 4 weeks, but high risk you have a phone call inviting you in within a week.
Good luck for scans this week. I hope your wait to take bloods is fast. We were stuck waiting for over an hour in clinic after our scan which totally messed up the rest of the day and dh almost didn't make it to school in time to collect dd.

@saffy347 I had bloods at booking which test for blood type, sickle cell, hiv, hepatitis etc. Then as I chose a combined screening they took bloods at the scan.
In my trust you don't choose what scan you want until you call up to book it and you only get the number at the end of the booking appointment.
They wouldn't bother doing the bloods for downs etc unless you've booked for the combined scan (and probably that the scan goes well) as otherwise its probably considered a wasted expense, however harsh that sounds, they need to keep costs down as much as they can like the rest of the NHS.
