Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

@HarryPottersSecretSister my gp prescribed me movicol recently so think it's fine for pregnancy. It does seem to work, or might be the prune juice I braved!!

kdd1980 · 15/03/2019 11:03

@HarryPottersSecretSister I find some all bran and a glass of orange juice in the morning helps. I also have terrible constipation with my UC

Good luck for the scan today too!

I've just got home from my booking in appointment. Feels really real now! Next scan 9am Monday! I'm 8 weeks today! Week! X

Secretlifeofme · 15/03/2019 11:16

Good luck @HarryPottersSecretSister! Thinking of you Flowers xx

@harrypotterssecretsister sorry if this is TMI- it may sound mad but I’ve always found putting my feet up on a fairly hefty step and waiting patiently helps no end. Obviously all the usual stuff like drinking loads of water loads of fibre and trying to go as soon as you feel the slightest urge. Hope you feel better soon.

GinMama1 · 15/03/2019 12:21

Hi ladies, I had my booking in appointment yesterday. It took aaages. But the midwife was lovely. She was incredibly supportive of me having ELCS so that was reassuring. Now I'm just debating whether to wait for the 12 week scan or have a reassurance scan or Harmony test at 10 weeks. I'm 8+2 today.

NeverHadANickname · 15/03/2019 12:39

Thank you to those that asked, my scan went well. Saw a good heartbeat and its measuring right for my dates. Due date of 3rd October. Honestly, I couldn't believe how much it was moving around, flipping over and kicking its legs out, it looked like a frog swimming! So surreal seeing it on the screen knowing its inside me doing all that.

Trinnidad · 15/03/2019 13:43

Argh I'm being carefully calm but slightly uneasy as I just had a bit of pink when I went to the loo - not discharge per se but the paper was light pink when I wiped. No pains or anything. I'm 10+5 today and not had any spotting etc all the way through so far. I've moaned on here before about not having any symptoms apart from hunger and tiredness. I've read I shouldn't be worried unless it gets worse but my scan's not till 25th so just hoping for a bit of extra reassurance x

Frizzy1986 · 15/03/2019 13:57

@Trinnidad frustrating times
Unfortunately it's a waiting game. I've read that there shouldn't be any bleeding, but it's really really common and then it turns into a whole host of people with different outcomes. You probably tend to see more of the bad ones as people post for support. I'm sure it's fine though, just try and stay positive and contact your midwife team if you are worried.

All this constipation talk and I am the total opposite. Always have bowel movements when I get up in the morning like clockwork and since about 6 weeks they are so so soft. It's not diarrhoea but it's probably only a few steps off it. I'm trying to keep hydrated but do worry it's not normal at this stage.

Woolly17 · 15/03/2019 14:06

@Frizzy1986
I had terrible diarrhoea with my first pregnancy. This time I'm passing pellets. I understand more people end up with constipation but that diarrhoea is also common.

@Trinnidad
A friend of mine had a fairly significant bleed with both her pregnancies around the 10wk mark (the first time enough that she thought it was a mc). She's got twin girls and a little boy... so her theory (she is a doctor) is that some women just have more symptoms around the time placenta takes over. And apparently lots of people do experience a bleed in early pregnancy but no mc... However I'd still get in touch with your GP or give 111 a call.

Lisalou88 · 15/03/2019 14:13

Hi all I’m currently 9+5 and this week I have started to feel like my symptoms have got a lot better. I’m paranoid after a missed miscarriage last year and so booked a private scan for tomorrow. I have already had good scans at 6 & 8 weeks but it’s so hard to shift this feeling of anxiety 😢

Kiko12 · 15/03/2019 14:15

Hi all! I'm due 9th Oct, 1st baby Grin Very excited, nauseous, sleepy & sore at the moment Sad

Don't like the thought of any foods (although constantly being hungry) and COMPLETELY repulsed by hot drinks Confused

Great to meet you all! x

Kiko12 · 15/03/2019 14:18

@SunshineSophia I'm 50% convinced that when I go to get my first scan, they'll say there's nothing in there and I've just had a sickness bug! Grin

HarryPottersSecretSister · 15/03/2019 15:57

@Woolly17 the self preservation thing makes so much sense. 11 days isn't too bad and I hope they fly by for you!

@ElkieMacjibe thank you so much. That's the exact answer I was looking for! If it's good enough for your GP, it's good enough for me!

@kdd1980 sorry you experience the same. It's awful!
Yay to 8 weeks due date buddy 🙌

@womaninkent that makes so much sense. I remember reading once that the position we go to the loo in is actually really unnatural and if we could hunker over the loo it'd be far better. I think I've a little sink step that the kids used to use to wash their hands.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 15/03/2019 16:02

@Trinnidad always such a scare but like everyone else says, this could mean absolutely nothing. I know that's easy for me to say. I'm sure everything is absolutely fine. FWIW, I know at least two women who had bleeding through the first 3 months of their pregnancies and their kids are often over in mine playing with my crowd.

@Kiko12 huge congratulations and welcome! 💕💕

HarryPottersSecretSister · 15/03/2019 16:25

So strange! I wrote a really long post about my happy scan today (all fine!)
And it disappeared 😐

womaninkent · 15/03/2019 16:47

@harrypotterssecretsister so glad your scan went well!
Yep you are right, it’s because (don’t read on if you’re queasy) we should really squat down to ‘go’ like our caveman ancestors did. The higher you get your legs the closer you are to a squatting position. Leaning forwards as well can help. Hope it gets better-that trick has got me out of many a miserable few days!

faelavie · 15/03/2019 17:15

Had my booking appointment with the midwife today. Made it all a bit more real, getting given my notes and stuff. I'm considered low risk, and the midwife told me that I could have my baby in the midwife-led birthing centre if I want.... But I really would rather go to the hospital so I can have an epidural and aaaallll of the drugs! 😂

Mummsie1 · 15/03/2019 17:22

@Trinnidad I would try not to worry a bit of ‘pink’ could be just be irritations down there, as it’s all very sensitive too. I am one of those ppl who thankfully have positive story from bleeding my first pregnancy I first bleed a little at 7 then 10 then 12 weeks and all the time everything fine, I then bleed at 24 weeks (went into preterm labour) but thankfully baby stayed put till 39 weeks (my midwife said I was very lucky) but I bleed at least once a week, to the point I got very blarzy about it and the hospital visits got very repetitive. My daughter came out with a short ambilical cord not picked up in scans as it wasn’t dangerously short, and it was told that bleeding can be a sign of this. This time round I’m high risk and will be monitored regularly and I’m so anxious it will be the sane pregnancy but praying it not.

In my long post I’m just trying to reassure you and if you are very anxious seek medical attention as you feeling anxious will not help the baby.

Best of luck with everything!!

HarryHarry · 15/03/2019 17:43

@Trinnidad I had this for several weeks with my last pregnancy and everything was fine. Try not to worry!

I’ve got 2 weeks or so left till my first ultrasound - trying not to cave in and book a private one just to reassure myself that there is actually something (someone) in there!

givememarmite · 15/03/2019 18:00

Glad to hear your scans went well @NeverHadANickname and @HarryPottersSecretSister it's always such a relief!
My next one is on 25th when I'll be 9 weeks then we are going to do the Harmony test the week after and have an appointment for the NT scan on 16th April. If all goes well we will tell family and close friends then. We told people quite early in previous pregnancies and I'm finding it soooo hard keeping to ourselves this time! Have any of you told people yet?
I'm feeling so rough today, full of a cold and so tired it's awful. DD2 is recovering from pneumonia so we've not had much sleep the last two weeks. Hoping the kids can go see my in-laws for a couple of hours tomorrow so I can have a good nap!

Dyra · 15/03/2019 18:21

Had my 12 week scan earlier today! Was so scared there wasn't going to be anything there or there had been a MMC, but instead baby was moving around for the first round of scans, then fell asleep with its hand by its face (just like it's dad) for the actual pictures. Couldn't get the nuchal measurement sadly (despite some jumping jacks) so I'll be having the quad test in a few weeks. Sonographer said it looked nice and thin, but baby was at just the wrong angle to get an accurate measurement so oh well.

On my way home, since I still had to finish my shift, to tell all our relatives. The secrecy is finally over!

Trinnidad · 15/03/2019 19:21

Congratulations on all those good scans!

Thanks everyone for your reassuring words, I'm not overly worried just needed a bit of reassurance. Not had any more pink today but will keep an eye on it if course. Bring on scan day in 9 days' time!

Mummsie1 · 15/03/2019 19:38

I was wondering if anyone for a great way to get rid of the horrid ‘bile’ taste in mouth.

I have had nausea nearly daily with sickness on and off since 3 weeks 5 days (that come before the positive test) and even though the nausea is not as strong it has now progressed with this vile taste in my mouth 24/7 even mints only work for 10 mins I’m going slightly mad and it’s not helping my tried, irritable mood

Sorry if I sound like a moaner just liking fit advice.

Woolly17 · 15/03/2019 20:08

I think I might have a stomach bug. Been throwing up all day. Can't keep anything down. Bleurgh.

Jodie6 · 15/03/2019 21:47

I'm 9 weeks 5 days today and feel like I'm getting somewhere. I had a scan at 6 weeks 4 days as I wanted to confirm that I was actually pregnant and have another one booked in next Friday.
I have my midwife booking in appointment on Friday and then my 12 week scan on 1 April. We are having the early scan next Friday just to check everything is going well and we are actually going to tell the family the day before our 12 week scan because it's Mother's Day.

@HarryPottersSecretSister I am actually on SW at the moment and you do get one extra A and B which does help.

My main concern is that my BMI the other day when I weighed myself was 29.8 and I've read that over 30 is a problem and extra tests may be required. Does anyone know, I'm really worried about this?
