Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

I initially thought I wouldn't book a private scan (this time around) but then decided I would at almost 11 weeks so I could announce the news on Mother's Day.

Now I've also went and booked a scan for next week at 8 weeks because I'm feeling so rubbish, I feel I need alleviate worry but I also feel like I need to connect a bit to this precious little thing inside me to help me get through these awful days.
That probably makes me sound absolutely terrible. This is a very very much wanted baby and I am so so grateful to be pregnant but every day is so difficult, I feel like if I (hopefully) see a picture of what's going on inside, it'll help me get through this better, will remind me there's a wonderful purpose to this feeling and to help power on through.

It's an expensive business but like I said, unlikely I'll be buying anymore (and just think of all the money we're saving on wine! ;))

Anything that helps, imo.

(Please don't judge me and think I'm awful)

So appointment time off question. I work at a company with flexitime and you can build up/or be at a loss of up to 4 hours over a 4 week period. I fill in a timesheet to keep track of how many hours up or down I am as if you are up, you can have some early finished etc. I get paid a set salary and the sheet is only to monitor early finishes and late arrivals etc.
Well we get paid time off for maternity appointments right, but if I am late in because of it and put it in my form, then it will reduce the hours that I've built up. I'm right that that wouldn't be right aren't I? Itbshouldnt effect any time I've built up. Obvs will chat to HR once it's all revealed but don't want to be asking a stupid question.

princesstinnedpeach · 07/03/2019 09:12

@Frizzy1986 I have a similar job and you shouldn't put that you've been late in because of it, or if you do it should be special leave with pay or something similar. You're entitled to paid time off so you shouldn't do anything that makes it look like you owe them the time, basically.

@HarryPottersSecretSister try not to be so hard on yourself for not connecting, there is such a huge amount of feelings to deal with. For me I very much want this baby AND I find it hard to connect because self protection that goes with having had 2 miscarrages. You can have both feelings. X

Hi all! Had my first scan yesterday and found out I was a bit further along than I though (7w4days!) Which means I should be due around 14 October, any one else??

Confirmed a heart beat so super ecstatic! Am finding the biggest symptom right now is extreme fatigue, I could sleep for hours!

Now it's count down for the 12 weeks. I booked a scan for the 17th of April and flying the next day to see my parents, so would be great to have a lovely scan picture to share :) Am finding this whole time very exciting although combatting with the fatigue at work is hard!

Next week I'm off to Spain with two girlfriends who have no idea yet... still pondering on whether to tell them but I think the no drinking will probably give it away....

@saffy347 I absolutely completely agree with you. I feel a bit disconnected too and this is most definitely a wanted baby. I'm scared to get too attached in case it all gets taken away from me! I have my first midwife apt tomorrow, I'm excited/anxious about it as I'm going on my own!!

@HarryPottersSecretSister my DIL are from Belfast. NI is an absolutely stunning place especially along the coastlines!!

Doesn’t the wait for the 12 week scan feel like months away? Mine is in 3 weeks and I’m so nervous/anxious. Thought it would be easier after 2 already but really isn’t.

Had a reflexology appt yesterday for my intense nausea and it’s definorely taken the edge off (no vomiting today woohoo). Plus no indigestion today either. Highly recommend!

Frizzy1986 · 07/03/2019 19:52

My dh didn't come with me to my booking. I told him it would be way too boring for him. Me peeing in a pot, going through medical info, filling out forms and taking bloods. Wasn't worth him taking the time off.
My scan is in 2 weeks and it still feels ages away. I'm really hoping it's a good outcome as when we had dd, dh had just been told his contract wasn't renewed so he had to choose scan or interview for new job. Obvs he had to choose interview as we needed him working and his mum came with me. He didn't get the job in the end so it was a bit pants. Will be nice for him to be there this time so hoping it doesn't go tits up.

Frizzy1986 · 07/03/2019 19:56

Also, I'm eating cold chips (theyve been cooked but now cold) Have I sunk to a new low??

neuroticnumpty · 07/03/2019 20:08

@HarryPottersSecretSister I totally understand the detached feeling. I could have written it word for word with my first pregnancy. After her birth it took a little while but we ultimately fell in love and now I don't like her to be too far away. Please take my assurance that you will get there. It's just different for everyone every time.
I never worried about the health or viability the first time but now I'm lying awake at night with haunting feelings that something is wrong.
There seems to always be something to keep us busy with worries Hmm

I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow but it's at my GP surgery so I don't think it's the actual booking appointment as last time I had to go to hospital for that and have bloods etc.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

@Frizzy1986 you definitely get paid time off for antenatal appointments. I think it's a statutory right.

I told my boss last week - because last time I had a horrible time in early pregnancy and it would have made things so much easier if I'd told my previous boss early. Of course I only started this job in December so right now I'm not even 100% sure will get any maternity pay.

@secretlyherminone great news about your scan. I also had mine today it was so great to see the heartbeat! I’m due on the 14 October but i’m 8 weeks 3 days today-I can’t work out how we could both be due on the same day and yet be a different number of weeks??

Dyra · 07/03/2019 22:02

Might be a typo? Meant to hit the 8 but hit the 7 instead?

princesstinnedpeach · 08/03/2019 06:27

At my booking in appointment yesterday I was really dehydrated from vomiting and the midwife was quite concerned and said to phone the doctor and get prescribed anti sickness straight away. They prescribed me cyclizine three times a day over the phone (after asking if I'd tried ginger biscuits - give me strength!) I took one when I got home at teatime and it was like being hit over the head. I slept for nine hours! God knows how taking them for work is going to go but anything is better than that sickness for me. Next thing to look forward to is getting a scan date, I can't wait Smile

secretlyhermione · 08/03/2019 08:21

@womaninkent ok yes, I got the dates wrong haha. It was actually a friend who calucalted it, but I went on a pregnancy calculater just now and the due date is the 20th of October not the 14th :D Still same month though ;) Congrats on your scan too!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 08/03/2019 09:18

@Clarew78 @saffy347 @neuroticnumpty thank you so much for that. Can't explain how much of what each of you have said rings through with me xx

@princesstinnedpeach Christ, you poor love. You must feel absolutely horrendous! I really feel for you.

Terrified to say it out loud for fear of jinxing it (I felt a little better on Monday but then horrendous on Tuesday and Wednesday) but yesterday and so far today I'm feeling slightly more human. Just 7 weeks today so preparing myself for the fact that this is unlikely to be the end of my sickness but can't help but feel very excited and hopeful. Have spent the morning trying to get a definite answer for when the placenta takes over (but I reckon way too early for me at this stage)

I'm still signed off work (and am worrying about work. Thinking I would go back but then unsure if I'll get sick again as soon as I do) but am absolutely delighted to report that my chrons flare appears to have ended. The quickest chrons flare I've ever experienced in my entire life- ever (a week and a half). Arse bleeding has completely ceased (Sorry 🙈😂).
Am delighted.
I have an appointment with my chrons consultant on Monday but my GP mentioned last week (like a few of you had said when I first joined this thread) that it's very likely that the pregnancy hormones would keep me flare free. It's (fingers crossed!) looking that way. No other explanation for how quickly the flare stopped 🎉🙌

Is anyone worried about telling work?

HarryPottersSecretSister · 08/03/2019 09:19

Also any early scans due soon? Who's next?

Emjm9 · 08/03/2019 09:20

@HarryPottersSecretSister
I have mine at 11am today! Im 7+1 so quite early but I just need that reassurance. Wish me luck 🤞🏻

HarryPottersSecretSister · 08/03/2019 09:22

Has anyone else's awful morning sickness/ nausea stopped at this point?
Wondering how plausible it is.
(I'll stop asking questions now, promise 🙈)

HarryPottersSecretSister · 08/03/2019 09:22

Aw brilliant @Emjm9 ! Wishing you all the luck in the world. Am really excited for you!! Happy scan day 😊
