How's everyone doing?

I've developed a lovely new pregnancy symptom - acid reflux during the night. Does anyone else get this? It's horrible 😕

MayaLH · 22/03/2019 15:06

I’ve experienced a bit of acid reflux these last few weeks but nothing too bad and have been told it’s quite normal

ChaosMoon · 22/03/2019 15:40

Ugh, that sounds really unpleasant @Buttons28. Touch wood, I've been lucky enough to avoid that so far.

Had a pregnancy massage this morning. It was wonderful while it lasted. It's the closest to comfy I've been in months! My back is killing again already though. ☹️

Blgb · 22/03/2019 16:16

Yeah @Buttons28 I've been having some of that at very unusual times!
I have officially finished at work today and it's a very strange feeling going from 50 hours a week to what am I going to do with myself! Hoping little man doesn't decide to do your trick @Unicorn234 and make an appearance tonight! 😂 id like a few days to chill!

cannonball8726 · 22/03/2019 17:10

Hi all! Could I possibly please join? I'm 37+1 and expecting our first. Know what you mean @blgb - it was my last day at work today and I'm hoping she sits tight for a little bit so I can get some chill time and jobs in!

Helga55 · 22/03/2019 17:20

Well, induction was booked for weds, rocked up to the ward, spent 6 hrs being monitored and having a few tests & then the hospital consultant over ruled the MLU dr & said that their protocol was not to induce at 37 weeks unless absolutely necessary, they felt my polyhydramnois was not at a stage that it could cause major issues & that at 37 weeks there was a higher chance of an induction not working & me ending up having a Caesarian, so was told to come back in 2 weeks for a scan and to see another consultant & we'd get a Plan of action into place... So as you can imagine, both me & my OH were disappointed, and actually a bit pissed off that one person can advise & book in an induction, but then cos someone else doesn't agree, it gets cancelled, feel a bit messed about with tbh

I just keep hoping that it all happens spontaneously now before I have to go back

Helga55 · 22/03/2019 17:22

On the plus side, after the registrar had a good rummage feeling where the baby was, I think it's moved down somewhat as my heart burn and acid reflux has gone Smile also been getting some strong period type cramps on & off and a good dose of back ache, so here's hoping it'll arrive a bit earlier

Clare4567 · 22/03/2019 17:44

Hello @cannonball8726 hope you're enjoying the start of maternity leave.

@Helga55 I can't believe you were messed around so much! What an emotional roller coaster. Sounds promising for a spontaneous start to labour though... fingers crossed.

I've just come from a maternity massage @ChaosMoon they're amazing aren't they? I fell asleep. I know what you mean about 'while it lasted' though.

Unicorn234 · 22/03/2019 18:22

@Blgb haha I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞 crazy to think he's already a week old tomorrow, time goes by too quickly xx

First babies due in April - thread 2!
Blgb · 22/03/2019 19:55

@Unicorn234 he really is adorable I want to smoosh his little cheeks! Did you end up with an Italian name for him? (I saw your post in another chat)

@cannonball8726 welcome to the party! Your 3 days ahead of me, hope your coping well!
@Helga55 that is rubbish they shouldn't be allowed to do that when one doctor has already made the decision! Hopefully you won't have to wait too long!

Unicorn234 · 22/03/2019 20:04

@Blgb yes we went with Vincenzo after my partners grandad but he is Vinny for short 😊

MayaLH · 23/03/2019 15:51

Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know my baby girl Serenity Rose was delivered by emergency C section today at 9:42 am weighing 5 lb 5. She’s going to have to be monitored for a few days but so far all is looking okay ❤️

Blgb · 23/03/2019 16:12

@MayaLH congratulations! What a beautiful name! 2 babies born already!
Why the emergency?
Hope she's everything you dreamed of and your both doing well

MayaLH · 23/03/2019 16:45

Thank you very much, yes she is everything I dreamed of, she’s absolutely gorgeous! My water broke this morning (which we did not see coming at all) and so we went to the hospital and when they started monitoring her heart rate it was abnormally high and it turns out that was due to a prolapsed cord which is common when you have polyhydraninos and so they wanted to get her out as soon as possible since that could restrict the amount of oxygen flow. I was so scared she wouldn’t be breathing when they delivered her but as soon as they got her out I heard her crying so I was incredibly relieved!

Buttons28 · 23/03/2019 19:32

@MayaLH congratulations on the safe arrival of baby girl Serenity Rose! What a lovely name. Glad they reacted and got baby out quickly. Hopefully you will be home before you know it 🙂

@Unicorn234 he is a little cutie! How have you found the first week?

@cannonball8726 welcome to the group! How have you found pregnancy so far? Can't believe we are now so close to the end. I'm more than ready to meet my little one now.

@Helga55 I can't believe they messed you around like that. I would be very annoyed and frustrated. Hopefully baby will decide to come earlier 🤞

@Clare4567 @ChaosMoon @Blgb
All this talk of pregnancy massage has made me want one now. Is it really that good? I might see if I can book into one during my first week of leave. One week of work left to go! And then I can start nesting properly and hopefully relax

Will be interesting to see what signs and symptoms we start getting over the next few weeks which will lead to the arrival of our babies

ChaosMoon · 23/03/2019 19:36

Congratulations @MayaLH! That must have been so stressful - I'm so glad it all worked out ok. We'd love to cook over a picture of you're happy to share. ☺️

Serenity Rose is such a beautiful name. And I love Vincenzo / Vinny too @Unicorn234. They're both so unusual in different ways. (And I adore that baby grow. I think I have the same one, if not something similar!)

@Helga55 you must feel so frustrated. I know you weren't looking forward to an induction but it's still rubbish to be messed around like that, particularly when you'd heard yourself up for it. Bring on the raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, curry and other old wives tales. Oh and the sex. There's some evidence for that one... 🤞 It'll get here before you need to be induced.

Welcome @cannonball8726! And congrats to you and @Blgb for starting your mat leave. Blgb it's a bizarre feeling isn't it? It's been a hell of an adjustment this week.

@Clare4567 they're bliss! Problem is I want another one now!

Helga55 · 23/03/2019 19:40

@MayaLH congrats on the new arrival! I'm sure it got a bit hairy at times, esp with the prolapsed cord, but so glad everything turned out fine

ChaosMoon · 23/03/2019 19:55

Do it @Buttons28. It was really good.

I hope your last week in work goes well. I know what you mean about symptom spotting - it feels like when we were TTC all over again! A girl on my antenatal group lost her mucus plug yesterday. I'm so jealous! 😂

OP posts:
Clare4567 · 24/03/2019 17:22

Wow congratulations @MayaLH !

@Buttons28 Massage definitely worked for me in terms of relaxation alhough it didn't get aches and pains out particularly. I was on my side so it's harder to work the back muscles. But I loved it.

Unicorn234 · 25/03/2019 11:32

@Buttons28 first week has been good thank you 😊

Hopefully the rest of you won't have to wait too much longer before your babies arrive 💕

Springmummy19 · 25/03/2019 22:48

Awww congrats @Unicorn234 and @MayaLH. Hope you guys and babies are doing well!! Its so lovely seeing all the April babies arrive although its just making me more anxious to want to meet my little one now. Im not in that phase of being totally uncomfortable no matter how i sit or stand or sleep BUT seeing all these baby pics is reminding me it will all be worth it.

Im 36+1 now and im really hoping its my turn soon. I cant wait to feel 'normal' and i realllllyyy hope this dislike for chicken goes away

Springmummy19 · 25/03/2019 22:49

*now in that phase

Llondbol · 26/03/2019 01:05

I haven't posted in a while but I've been reading the thread and so lovely to hear all the lovely news of babies making their appearances!

I'm 36+6 and saw a consultant yesterday - was midwifery lead until now. Our boy is measuring on the large size (!!) but complicated by the fact he is also breach. We go back in a week, and if he's still breach we need to decide whether to have an ECV or an elective c-section.

Does anyone have experience of an ECV?! We've done some reading about it and although risks are low - there are risks. Plus more risks if it leads to an emergency c-section rather that it being planned. We really are in two minds about what to do...

ChaosMoon · 26/03/2019 07:27

Sorry to hear you've had to switch to consultant led @Llondbol. I hope that hasn't need with your birth plan too much.

I have no experience of it but DH and I have looked into ECV. (Forewarned is forearmed and all that.) If baby turned out to be beach at the next appointment, it's definitely something I'd do. The thing with an emergency CS rather than a planned CS is that it just means one was booked in advance. If your circumstances change (egg, due to an ECV) it's not inherently more dangerous or problematic. If you're in a good trust, they'll have thought through the elevated chance of you needing a CS and will plan according for a time when they have enough staff on to deal with it. (So they're unlikely to start trying to turn baby at 4.30 in a Friday afternoon.)

Have they talked to you about your other options - I guess I'm specifically thinking about a vaginally breach birth. Would you want to try that or would you rather a CS at that point anyway? Or would you be happy to wait and see if the baby turns naturally at the last minute (some do, my sister and myself included).

I think it's a really personal choice at this point. I realise that's not hugely helpful to you now...

@Springmummy19 I must confess to bring a little jealous when I thought you were not yet in that phase! It sucks doesn't it?

Is anyone else hand expressing colostrum pre-birth? I started yesterday and got a whole third of a milliliter! 😂

OP posts:
Buttons28 · 27/03/2019 11:15

@Llondbol sorry I don't really have any advice to offer on your situation. When is your next appointment? Have you posted anywhere else for advice? Hopefully the more information you receive will help you come to a decision.

@ChaosMoon I haven't tried to express yet (not even thought about it) when can you start?

Currently 36+3 had my midwife appointment today. Baby's head is starting to move in the right direction and is now 4/5 palpable. Scary to think baby is getting ready now for D-day! Have a scan on Monday as a follow up for reduced movements episode a couple of weekends ago so I get yet another chance to see baby before it's birthday 💛
