I've gone back a few pages but apologies to everyone I've missed! How is everyone doing?

@Springmummy19 @jojoburr17 I'm having the same shopping issues and also just trying to get what we need for the first day or two. I won't want everything pink and blue when I do know, but buying truly gender neutral stuff that isn't just dingy is really hard!

I also need a nappy caddy but I need to make a call on cloth nappies first. I like the idea but it just seems like a load more decision making that my addled brain can't manage!

Springmummy19 that must have been so scary! I'm really glad everything's ok.

OP posts:
Springmummy19 · 07/02/2019 14:54

@jojoburr17 Yeah of course. Maybe just hold of until baby arrives and only have enough for a few days worth and then you can get some more then.

If you buy stuff now, you might not be able to return it if you do need to do so.

@ChaosMoon lol b;less you. This is the one I ordered. something light and simple. I'm too impatient to use cloth nappies.

Yeah thank fully baby is moving as normal. I feel like we FTM feel everything 1000 times more due to the not knowing and it all being new

ChaosMoon · 07/02/2019 15:00

Thanks @Springmummy19! That's a lovely one.
Tell me about it. I spend a lot of time telling my brain to shut up and calm down.

lol, I dont. my hubby does that for me

Anyat212 · 07/02/2019 21:28

@ChaosMoon

I was going at 36 weeks but I’ve had enough I just want to get everything ready and nest away in my own little world before she’s here! I was considering reducing my week to 4 days (using hols) but thought sod it, I’ll keep the 37.5 and just power through.

Thanks for the tips on BH, I’ve only had them the last few days. But agree on the breathing side, I’m getting practice in too. Although I just cried quietly this morning while my poor DP was rubbing my back, I am abit of a wimp though lol. I could have screamed the house down and be in the neighbours bad books so I guess I’m not doing too badly.

@Unicorn - I hope you’re feeling better today, I think sometimes the shock can be bad enough. A lady at work was recently diagnosed with GD and she’s been fine, had no issues or symptoms she’s just monitored what she ate. I only managed to have a quick chat with her on it, but she seemed to be doing well. As others say, atleast you’ll get to see your LO a few more times Flowers

I have to say I’m jealous that a few of you managed to resist the urge of knowing if you’re having a boy or girl! I couldn’t wait. Literally. I’ve decided next time I won’t find out I want the surprise! Clothes wise - how many sleepsuits etc are you thinking of buying? I’ve just went through all her clothes and I’ve clearly got way too distracted and bought loads of proper outfits I.e dresses, tops, leggings and hats! How has this happened?! Hmm

Springmummy19 · 08/02/2019 09:21

@Anyat212 trust me I am finding it very very hard not knowing, I keep looking at the myths and every time I think I know the sex, someone comes and proves I could totally be wrong.

haha aww bless you. I just bought enough clothes for the first few days. Mothercare do the pack of 7 sleepsuits. baby grows, long sleeved baby grows so I just got 2 packs of each. I bought about 2 packs (2 in each pack) of mitts and hats. I also found a 6 piece from primark which had 2 sleep suits, bottoms and a top, bib, mits hats and a babygrow. Funnily enough primark was the only place that had a lot more choices for team yellow.

I also have 2 sleepsuits that will be used as a coming home outfit. I'm undecided on which one to use. they have the attached sleeve covers which mean you don't need the mitts. I sturggle to but without knowing the sex or size

ChaosMoon · 08/02/2019 14:33

@Anyat212 I can't believe it's been that bad. Poor you. Well done for not walking up the whole neighborhood!

I have two sleepsuit, one newborn, one 0-3 months. Might get a couple more in each size but no more until I know I'm buying the right size! I'll probably do the same with vests. I have enough ships near me that it'll be easy to pick other bits up. We're already being given stuff though so I doubt we'll be short!

That said, @Springmummy19 has be thinking I need to put some more thought into this... I'll have to check out Primark.

I can't imagine finding out the sex. I just love a surprise!

OP posts:
Springmummy19 · 08/02/2019 14:43

@ChaosMoon lol, Its just advise I have been given, I think I made a post on here about coming home outfit and someone mentioned the sleep suits with fold overs for the hands which was a Eurika moment for me.

Anyat212 · 08/02/2019 17:04

Thanks @springmummy19 I’ll have a look in primark too. I haven’t had chance to get in there yet, TK Max had a nice selection instore (when I was in there last) for more neutral colours, could check online too? I know what you mean though, most shops have blue or pink - that’s it! I don’t want my little girl in pink 24/7. I’ve found TK Max quite good and reasonably priced too.

Haha aww I’d be the same with the old wives tales.

@Chaosmoon - good idea waiting until you know the right size. I think I just had a panic when I was looking at her clothes yesterday - I have bought quite standard sleepsuits and vests in the mean time, so I’ll hang fire until she’s here otherwise I’ll end up the other way.

I’m terrible with surprises! I always have been. I always want a surprise but I just can’t wait and need to know. This extends to Christmas presents etc too. I’m 27 and haven’t quite grown up in that department. DP is the same no doubt when we have another baby (feels crazy talking about another baby whilst I’m still pregnant) he will find out and I’m gonna try and hold out.

Have you ladies made any progress with nurseries yet? We’ve just had my LOs room re-plastered and getting quite abit of grief from family members that it should all be done?! Don’t get me wrong that would be fab and it hopefully will be, but she’s going to be in with us for a while anyway.

jojoburr17 · 09/02/2019 13:13

Does anyone have a realistic list of essentials for baby? I feel like I need a million things but all I've got so far is a crib and a pram (and a few other bits and bobs) I'm kind of holding off until the baby shower.... as I don't want to duplicate. Can't buy too many clothes because I don't want loads of unisex stuff either.... Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting things from people but the general idea of the Baby shower is to bring gifts right? My boyfriend never seems interested in going out to get things (typical man!) so might book my mum in instead! Any thoughts? :)

ChaosMoon · 09/02/2019 21:02

@Anyat212 the baby will be in with us until 6 months, so we won't decorate the nursery until it's here. To be honest we have enough to do to the rest of the house! Saying that, DH is sitting here working out how to build a fold down changing table.

@jojoburr17 I think the best list of truly essentials was:
something to travel in (car seat plus sling or buggy)
Something to sleep in
Something to wear for the first day or two
Something to eat (bottles and steriliser if not boobs)
Something for it's bottom (nappies)

Everything else can follow once the baby is here and you know what you need. It might well be different from anyone elses list.

I have those basically covered, except the nappies. (I need to work out a cloth nappy system) But emotionally I want to get more than that. I just get overwhelmed when I look at bigger lists.

Most of what I've bought is actually my post partum stuff. Nipple cream, pads, that sort of thing.

Buttons28 · 10/02/2019 12:42

I've literally just got a few of the neutral all in one suits but they have cute designs on them. Have found the sizing differs from one shops to another so will take on a few different ones and see what fits baby when he/she arrives. It will then be easy to pick up more once we know what size we need. I'm planning on keeping baby in these for the first few weeks anyway as they grow so quick and I believe you have to change them so often so sounds like the easy option (we will see what actually happens when baby arrives 😁)
I have basics ready for baby (somewhere to sleep, something to wear, pram car seat etc. Will assess feeding once baby arrives, hoping to bf) but really need to start thinking about what I need to get for me (pads, creams etc) Will make a start on my hospital bag soon I think

Baby's room is still work in progress for us but like you say they won't be sleeping in it for a while yet so I'm not worried, I'll literally be using it as a changing place during the night to begin with. DH still needs to plaster the cupboard and install some shelves etc to get it ready

Week 30 today 💛 😁

jojoburr17 · 11/02/2019 10:34

@ChaosMoon @Buttons28 brill advice, thanks both! Needed a bit of reassurance, I also watched some you tube videos on the weekend about New born essentials so that helped as well. Defo going to keep it simple for the time being Smile 30 weeks tomorrow for me! Everyone keeps telling me how neat my bump is, although I feel huge Blush

ChaosMoon · 11/02/2019 11:37

Ah, ladies, do you remember sleep? Sometimes I think I do... I'm desperately trying to work from home but I'm struggling to keep my eyes open!

I'm with you on the all in ones @Buttons28. I see no point in gorgeous outfits that are study to put on and have to come off 30 minutes later!

Have you guys seem Boots new range of sleepsuit? Gender neutral but in beautiful bright colours. I want them all! Trying to be good and wait to know the size though.

@jojoburr17 I get the same thing. I feel like there is a mountain on my stomach, yet other people seem to think it's small. Had by 32 week appointment today though and they were happy with the size. It's all going so quickly now!

I hope you're all doing well!

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in. Smile I'm due my first on 22nd April and feel pretty clueless at the moment. I'm also team yellow, looking forward to the surprise (thought I have convinved myself its a boy!)

On the clothes topic, I have panic bought sleepsuits, vest bodysuits, short sleeve bodysuits and long sleeve bodysuits! Though now I'm not sure what they wear and when! Would they stay in sleepsuits for most of the day and just use the bodysuits for layering at night??

Springmummy19 · 11/02/2019 12:24

Hello ladies

@Anyat212 baby is sleeping with us in our room so nursery just yet but we are giving the bedroom a complete make over to make it more cosy for bubba.

@ChaosMoon I will check boots out thank you!

Anyone else's SO also started nesting? Hubby told me hes booked someone to come and clean all the house windows in a few weeks and then he has booked someone else to come and clean all the kitchen and bathroom tiles as well as re do the bit in between the tiles and floor in the kitchen. I just chuckled and said 'Omg your nesting too' I wonder if I can get him to book this people to come after the baby s born too lol

I cannot believe I have 10 weeks to go until my due date, Although if they induce me its less! single figures as of Monday.

Got really frustrated yesterday, I just wanted baby here,, not because of discomfort or anything, I Think I felt either baby's foot or knee when baby moved yday I was just like 'ugh I just want to feel you without a layer of mys kin between us. You need to bake a it longer but I cant wait anymore!'.. Sad I know

Btw, I have checked google but I find you cant always rely on it. I have recently become a bit addicted to the Costa deface latte, I Know they say decae is fine and I always double check ti is decafe before I walk out but If I was to have a regular one every day, that should be okay right? I was pretty sure it was and then hubby messaged me saying 'are you sure its okay for you' and he has thrown me off!

In other news, my sugar reading have been well below target these past 7 days which I'm hoping means that I can avid being induced. I joined a FB group for women with GD and realised I wasn't washing my hands just before testing!!! which explains the high reading at night. Night routine is to make FILS dinner and then cut him a plate full of fruit to have with his dinner, go up to to my room and check my sugar. I would just wipe my hands with a kitchen cloth after cutting the fruit rather than properly wash them so there was a lot of natural sugars on my hand as well as from the toothpaste when I would brush my teeth. I cannot believe such small detail nearly put me on insulin.

jojoburr17 · 11/02/2019 20:41

@Junebug55 welcome to the clueless club lol! I'm going to be asking for the manual when baby arrives!🤣 lovely that you are due the day before me!

What's everyone's opinions on having a 4d scan? I always said I wouldn't have one as they were a little creepy .... but now I'm thinking I want to see baby again, see what it's up to! and that seems to be the only option, but looking at between £80-100 eeek!

Buttons28 · 11/02/2019 22:21

How did your appointment go today? @Unicorn234

Unicorn234 · 11/02/2019 22:51

@Buttons28 hey! It was okay thank you for asking 😊 it's my fasting bloods which are the problem so if they don't come down I could be put on medication and induced early but fingers crossed that doesn't happen 🤞

Springmummy19 · 12/02/2019 10:51

@Unicorn234 Ahh glad it went okay, you will be fine fingers crossed

@jojoburr17 hubby did ask if we wanted one but I said no, in a way I desperately want to see baby but at the same time I love the whole element of surprise. Of course it will be worth every penny but we've waited this long, whats a few more weeks imo

ChaosMoon · 13/02/2019 13:38

Welcome @Junebug55!

I have exactly the same questions about clothes. My Bump and Baby classes start next week so hopefully I'll remember to ask when we get to the "what you're supposed to do with a baby" bit!

@Springmummy19 that's so sweet! DH had also begun his nesting. This weekend he fitted dimmer switches in every room and changed the bulbs upstairs to warm light for optimum sleep!

That's great news about your sugar readings. Isn't it crazy that you were never told about washing your hands? As you say, such a little thing but it could have huge consequences.

@jojoburr17 I feel exactly the same about 4D scans. So creepy and yet so tempting... Not going to give in though. If baby comes in time, it'll be just under 8 weeks now!

Glad to hear it went well today @Unicorn234. Got everything crossed for you! 🤞

@ChaosMoon tell me about it went to see the diabetes midwife today and shes so happy with readings she's considering dropping me from 500mg of metformin twice a day to just once a day depending on how my readings are by the end of the week. Aww bless, that also reminded me I need to make sure the smoke alarms are tested as well.

Wordie · 13/02/2019 14:37

Hi ladies,

Please can I join? Hoping for some advice. I’m a long time lurker due 6th April (which can’t come fast enough!)

I’ve got PGP and constantly feel like I’m getting stabbed up the arse! I was signed off for the last 2 weeks and returned to work on Monday but really struggled. I was planning to work for the next 2 weeks, have 2 weeks annual leave from 35 weeks and then Mat leave from 37 weeks. My work has been really good and I literally just turn up and do nothing, which mentally is more draining!!

I know my Dr will sign me off but feel like a failure, plus I feel bad about having 7 weeks off. Will I regret finishing and not pushing through?

When are you guys planning to work until?

X

Anyat212 · 13/02/2019 17:01

Hi Wordie

Firstly - Congrats! Smile

Sorry to hear you’re struggling I personally havent had PGP but it does sound awful. I’ve seen a few threads on here with women saying how painful it is so I do sympathise! I know it’s so easy to say but I really wouldn’t worry about taking the time off work, at the end of the day you’re pregnant, in pain and it will soon be April! If you are really struggling I’d take the extra time and go early (personally) I just think if you push yourself when you are struggling it’s not going to make you feel any better and there’s always the scenario baby could be early!

I’ve struggled really badly with morning sickness, nausea and constipation. My BP is low again at the moment as the sickness is creeping back in, I’m pretty sure I suffered with HG early on (I’ve had every symptom, been hospitalised & my mum suffered with it too!) but I’ve had a nightmare with doctors which is another story... Anyway, I’ve struggled throughout this pregnancy as I’ve been at work and it’s completely wiped me out and I’m back on the bathroom floor or bed unable to keep anything down. I’ve had quite a significant amount of time off work and I trust me I feel awful for my colleagues but there’s literally nothing you can do! I do have the option to work from home which I’ve taken up when I’ve felt better. Not sure if that’s something you could look into if you don’t want to go early? I was doing a Tuesday or Thursday once a week which helped.

I’m due the 13th April and I’m officially leaving work in just over 3 weeks. 3 weeks A\L & starting my mat leave at 37 weeks. I feel like you though I don’t want to miss on an extra time with my baby but at the same time I think you need to take time and look after number 1 before your baby arrives! Which is what I’ll be doing shortly Smile

Wordie · 13/02/2019 17:24

Thank you @anyat212 I think I just needed someone else to say that to me. I feel like I’m making excuses to myself! Just spoken to my DH about it now and I’m pretty set on not going back.

PGP is awful but I would have that over terrible morning sickness any day! I had bad nausea for a few weeks but feel for you being hospitalised.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today! Not too long to go for all of us! X
