Hi all,

Starting this thread in case anyone else whose early on with their first baby wanted to chat, and share experiences so far...

I’m having my first baby, and I’m 5wks +1, so early days! I’m having some symptoms (extreme tiredness, sore boobs, new hatred for prawn crackers 😂, headaches and terrible bloating). I’m an absolute nervous wreck about losing the baby, to which my husband tells me I have to try and think positive (and he’s right) but it’s such a worry! I take a test every 4-5 days to check (even though I know that’s not going to help)! We’ve booked in for a private early scan at 7+1 to check if everything’s okay.

Has anyone else booked in for an early scan? It feels like the wait to 12 weeks is totally unbearable!

How are all your symptoms & how are you all feeling?

X

@RMarieClaire that's what I was thinking!! At least if I say I'm hungover they can't question if I'm pregnant! Thank you

Jummynbean · 10/12/2018 08:57

I'm more panicking about the fact that I won't be drinking! Haha I was looking forward to getting a bit smashed. Think I'll sit on the table with a glass of wine and smell it every now and then so it looks like I'm drinking. I wonder if bars do non alcoholic wine??

Winona1 · 10/12/2018 10:25

@Jummynbean the thought of even eating at the moment turns my stomach never mind wine 🤢

Jummynbean · 10/12/2018 16:20

@Winona1 haha I'm definitely on that level at the moment. It's so odd knowing you need to eat yet feeling really sick. When do you have your first scan? I've got mine at 12 weeks but feels like a like time away. Not sure if I'm just being impatient or if some one should be checking me before the 12 week mark

farfromhome24 · 14/12/2018 15:34

Ladies, I need your help! I'm 9+3 and never had spotting until today. I wiped myself after peeing just now and saw bright red spotting. Wiped again and there was a small clot!! I'm scared. Should I see a gp/midwife??? I haven't had my booking appointment yet as I just moved.

farfromhome24 · 14/12/2018 15:40

I don't have any cramping or discomfort

Laura1609 · 14/12/2018 16:37

@farfromhome24 I’d maybe call your local EPU if the hospital has one and ask for advice. They may say to see your GP who can refer you for an early scan.

farfromhome24 · 14/12/2018 19:41

@Laura1609 thanks for replying. I've registered with my local gp earlier today. They said the process will take 3-4 days. So currently I don't have a gp to refer me to EPU. We phoned the out of hours services and got an appointment with a gp tonight. Hope it goes well and all's okay.

Laura1609 · 14/12/2018 21:01

@farfromhome24 Ahh hope it all goes well, I’m sure it will x

farfromhome24 · 14/12/2018 22:24

@Laura1609 back from the appointment😐turns out it wasn't with a gp as I was told but with a medical service provider or something. He said I'd still need a gp referral for an early scan and he can't do anything for me. He said "scans don't detect if the baby's still alive, they can only detect ectopic pregnancies". He asked me to rest and see my gp on Monday morning.😯

Jummynbean · 15/12/2018 10:13

Hi ladies, has anyone here experienced a loss of their symptoms? For the last 3 days now they have vanished. I'm hoping to God they come back..... :( Midwife said it can sometimes happen, no other symptoms. Just wondering whether to get blood test or book an early scan. So worried

Jummynbean · 15/12/2018 10:14

Also @Laura1609, that must be so frustrating, I really feel for you. X

RMarieClaire · 15/12/2018 22:24

@Jummynbean yes, I had this the last week. I'm 10+4. I was really worried but they're back today with a vengeance so hopefully yours will be too soon.

RMarieClaire · 15/12/2018 22:25

@farfromhome24 That's an odd thing for them to say. Scans can detect a heartbeat, which at 9 weeks should be there. Hopefully once registered all will be ok. Alternative would be to see if a private clinic can fit you in? Or head to the nearest hospital and prepare yourself for a long wait.

RMarieClaire · 15/12/2018 22:27

@farfromhome24 sorry, meant to ask if you've had any more spotting. Apparently it's normal. I've had a little and it's terrifying, so I know how you feel.
Fx everything's ok for you

chiatta · 16/12/2018 01:18

Hello! I am 5 weeks, first baby. No major symptoms but for headaches sometimes, slightly tender boobs and having loads of saliva. Have become a bit fixated on worrying that I’m losing the baby and will need to stop googling.
Anyone else getting not many symptoms?

farfromhome24 · 16/12/2018 08:36

@RMarieClaire yes I'm still spotting but it's on and off. It gets better when I'm completely resting and not moving around. I've a private scan booked in this afternoon, I'm terrified.

Jummynbean · 16/12/2018 08:36

Thanks @rmarieclaire! Gives me a bit more hope!

Ithinkillstayhereallday · 16/12/2018 13:03

Hi :-) I wanted to just give you all some reassurance, hope that's okay!

This year I've had two mcs (one at 12 weeks but knew at 8 that baby wasn't growing, and one at 7).
I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant. I've had spotting (light pink and one teeny tiny clot) and I've had symptoms that come and go. My boobs sometimes hurt, nothing major, I sometimes feel sick, I retch a bit but again nothing massive.

I've had 4 scans, baby is fine :-) so please be assured that symptoms are not a sign of anything. I had stronger symptoms with my mc than I have now!

I know it's so hard not to worry, we all do as this is such a special and important time :-) I'm still worrying a little now! But the main thing is as far as I am aware baby is healthy and growing and floating about in there so that's how I try to think!

Apologies if I come across as condescending, I really do get how worrying and scary it is. I just thought a post like this would have helped me a tiny bit when I was panicking earlier in the pregnancy 😂

RMarieClaire · 16/12/2018 13:05

@chiatta Congratulations! I had no real symptoms at 5 weeks except, like you, sore boobs and I was also shattered. Symptoms started in earnest at week six. Please don't worry.

chiatta · 16/12/2018 14:07

@RMarieClaire thanks! I think I’m going mad. Now I keep squeezing my boobs and thinking ‘are they sore??’ I need to chill out! Guess it’s normal to worry. Did another test today and was thinking THe Line is Not That Strong etc...
maybe it feels too good to be true.

Jummynbean · 16/12/2018 16:14

@ithinkillstayhereallday thank you xx

RMarieClaire · 16/12/2018 17:27

Thanks @Ithinkillstayhereallday - so pleased to hear all is well for you 😊

Ithinkillstayhereallday · 16/12/2018 18:50

Fingers crossed :-) hopefully this time next year we will all have little ones for Christmas! One thing I am at the moment is overly emotional 🙈 I cried the other day at the Sainsbury's advert as the kids looked so proud to be in a Christmas play 🙈🙈🙈🙈

MrsRyan15 · 16/12/2018 19:22

@Ithinkillstayhereallday my emotions are all over the place too, it doesn't take much to bring a tear to my eye at the mo.
