Hi all,

Starting this thread in case anyone else whose early on with their first baby wanted to chat, and share experiences so far...

I’m having my first baby, and I’m 5wks +1, so early days! I’m having some symptoms (extreme tiredness, sore boobs, new hatred for prawn crackers 😂, headaches and terrible bloating). I’m an absolute nervous wreck about losing the baby, to which my husband tells me I have to try and think positive (and he’s right) but it’s such a worry! I take a test every 4-5 days to check (even though I know that’s not going to help)! We’ve booked in for a private early scan at 7+1 to check if everything’s okay.

Has anyone else booked in for an early scan? It feels like the wait to 12 weeks is totally unbearable!

How are all your symptoms & how are you all feeling?

X

Hi ladies, please can I join? 5 weeks today, second pregnancy, first ended in MC at 7 wks. I have booked my first app today with MW, they are useless in my area, can't get one until 8 wks. I assumed with my history that I would be seen sooner or offered an early scan. Wondering whether it's worth paying for a private scan to make sure everything is ok this time. Has anyone done this with positive results? Thank you

Sparkles1992 · 15/11/2018 21:11

Ahh thanks @RMarieClaire Smile good luck! It's a lovely experience, I was so nervous and it really put my nerves at ease after the seeing him. I found out today he's a boy 💙

RMarieClaire · 16/11/2018 13:12

@Winona1 I had a thread about this a few weeks ago. Lots of positive stories and in the end we decided to book an early scan at 7 weeks. I think any sooner than that you're at risk of not seeing a heartbeat which might be a bit unnerving.

Winona1 · 16/11/2018 18:41

@RMarieClaire thank you! I have booked one today for 1st dec, I'll be 7+2 then. I really need something to put my mind at ease. X

RMarieClaire · 16/11/2018 19:32

@Sparkles1992 congratulations that's so exciting

RMarieClaire · 18/11/2018 12:16

How's everyone doing? I feel weirdly good today after a week of feeling constantly nauseous and tired. I slept for over 8 hours for first time in ages, so am assuming it's just that, but can't help worrying it's a bad sign that my hormones are reducing. Anyone else had days without morning sickness or other symptoms?

Winona1 · 18/11/2018 13:23

Hi @RMarieClaire glad your feeling better. 😀 Im just fired with sore boobs - no nausea and hoping I don't get any too lol. Just want my early scan to hurry up as I'm still in disbelief ...

jq28 · 18/11/2018 13:31

Hi ladies can I join?
Got my positive today and clear blue is reading 2-3 weeks pregnant.
Really surprised as I thought I genuinely had a normal period from the 8th - 12th November! I don't know What made me take the test today but 5 tests later I think it's safe to say it's true 🤣. I think I am about 5+3, thinking might have a scan just before Christmas at about 10 weeks. Anyone know what to next? First time and we are clueless!!

RMarieClaire · 18/11/2018 16:30

Ah congratulations @jq28! That's amazing.

Get yourself to the gp and they'll take it from there. We've just had the date of our 12 week scan through - 18 December - so pleased it's before Christmas. 🎄🤰

jq28 · 18/11/2018 16:48

@RMarieClaire thanks! Aww that's lovely,
Hoping I would Be about 10 weeks the week before Christmas and will get a private scan then tell the family on Christmas, all
Being well of course. Have you got any other children?

Delilah7 · 18/11/2018 17:07

Struggling with positivity today 😔

RMarieClaire · 18/11/2018 17:19

@jq28 this will be our first. Feeling very nervous but have an early scan next weekend - at 7 weeks - which hopefully will put our minds at ease a little

RMarieClaire · 18/11/2018 17:20

@Delilah7 sorry to hear that. Other than your next scan, has the doctor told you anything you can look out for in the meantime? How are you feeling? I really hope the next scan brings good news for you.

jq28 · 18/11/2018 17:21

@RMarieClaire you will have to let us know how you get on 😀

Delilah7 · 18/11/2018 17:23

@RMarieClaire no, they've said my first HCG levels are good but can't compare until my ones I have tomorrow come in to see if they're progressing. I still feel pregnant and stuff... bleeding is the main thing I worry about seeing. Which touch wood I haven't yet, I'm cramping but I do have a cyst which is normal x

Ljamer · 18/11/2018 20:19

Hey all,

Can I join? I’m 8+3, the symptoms have majorly kicked in. I wake up at 5am to be sick, have to get cereal or something in my stomach but continue to feel extremely nauseous and sometimes sick later in the day too. I still get crampy too, sore boobs and been very teary. The sickness has been there since week 6, have my scan on 19th December.

Early pregnancy is pretty tricky. It’s like a test of tenacity. I’m basically just trying to get through each day because of the sickness. Congratulations all on your news Smile

Delilah7 · 19/11/2018 10:28

Has anyone had a stitch like pain their ribs on one side or near boob?

LunaLG · 19/11/2018 10:41

Hi everyone can I join too. Congrats to everyone!

7 weeks today and while so pleased to be finally pregnant, I am really battling with constant nausea. I throw up on cue at 5am every morning and at intervals throughout the day. It's tough because I don't know where the end is and I'm just finding it all mentally and physically quite tough. Something about nausea that is a total joy thief! Any mental tips to get through it would be so welcome! Thanks x

Livingthedream89 · 19/11/2018 11:01

Hi all, can i join in? Currently 8 +4 and very excited/nervous. I found out at 5 weeks yet i haven't even had my first midwife appointment yet, i am having it on the 29th when i will be 10 weeks! I worry this will lead to the first scan being after 12 weeks which is a pain as i don't think i will believe i am pregnant til i see the scan! How do you go about asking for an extra scan?

I also feel like i have a 24/7 hangover, i am drinking so much water yet my lips are constantly dry!

Congratulations to everyone, we have been trying for over a year so I was getting to the point i didn't think it would happen.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 19/11/2018 11:02

Hi

I'm a bit late to the party here but thought I'd share my experience with you of the early scan. I wanted reassurance after a MC in July but we weren't sure of my actual dates as I have a very long cycle. When we went, it turned out I was 6+1. We saw the little baby, yolk, and heartbeat. I cried a lot! Like you I am very anxious but actually not starting to feel better as time goes on. I'm now 9+2, my boobs have gone huge, I feel sick a lot, and I have endometriosis on my uterus which I can literally feel stretching (very painful but in a way I am grateful because I know baby must be growing). We have our 12w scan mid December.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 19/11/2018 11:03

@Livingthedream89 you can pay for a private scan at a clinic, there are lots of them about. Ours was 89 for the early scan. At around 16 weeks they seem to drop to about 59.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 19/11/2018 11:05

Need to correct my previous post - I meant I am now starting to feel better (less anxious!!)

mrsof20118 · 20/11/2018 18:39

Hi all, wanting to join if that's ok. Got my bfp on Saturday and will be 4 weeks tomorrow. Nervous after a early mc at just under 5 weeks in September.
Feeling like I've got little twinges and pulling today. Is this normal in the early stages? Booked in for an early viability scan for 3 weeks today x
