Hi all,

Starting this thread in case anyone else whose early on with their first baby wanted to chat, and share experiences so far...

I’m having my first baby, and I’m 5wks +1, so early days! I’m having some symptoms (extreme tiredness, sore boobs, new hatred for prawn crackers 😂, headaches and terrible bloating). I’m an absolute nervous wreck about losing the baby, to which my husband tells me I have to try and think positive (and he’s right) but it’s such a worry! I take a test every 4-5 days to check (even though I know that’s not going to help)! We’ve booked in for a private early scan at 7+1 to check if everything’s okay.

Has anyone else booked in for an early scan? It feels like the wait to 12 weeks is totally unbearable!

How are all your symptoms & how are you all feeling?

X

@mrsof20118 lovely to see you here!! I’m feeling so scared and every day I’m anxious something will go wrong. I’ve no symptoms other than feeling bloated and stomach cramps on occasions during the day. I’m 4 weeks on thurs x

Delilah7 · 20/11/2018 20:46

@mrsof20118 so excited you're here!!! Xx

keepploddingalong · 20/11/2018 21:08

Hi ladies,

So glad to have found this post! I am 5+3 and to be honest I don't really feel like I'm pregnant, a few cramps and a little sicky but that's it! I worry that we will get to the scan and not see anything!

I have a midwife appointment booked, and I will be just past 8weeks by then, can anyone tell me what's going to happen? Will I have a scan?

First time mommy in waiting 🙃

TakingtheLeap · 20/11/2018 21:22

Hi @Delilah7, I had stitch-like pain on one side for about a week or so at maybe week 6? It was worse when I'd been up and about for a long time. How are you feeling now?

@mrsof2018 Congratulations! I had lots of tugging and twinging in the early days too - nothing to worry about as far as I can tell. Lots of people seem to mention it!

@keepploddingalong Congratulations to you too! At the first appointment they just ask you LOADS of questions and in some cases take bloods (I had blood taken at mine but I've known people who haven't had bloods until 12 weeks). You won't have a scan until 12 weeks usually, this is just to get you on the system. My booking appointment took an hour answering all the questions!

Had a scary but ultimately good day today - had bleeding yesterday so rang the EPU who had me in for a scan today. I was petrified but we saw the baby wriggling away and the heart beating. Measured just a day 'younger' than the date suggested by my LMP (but I wasn't surprised because I know I ovulate later than usual). It's just starting to sink in that everything, right now, is ok.

mrsof20118 · 21/11/2018 06:41

Heyyyyyy @Giraffe888 and @Delilah7

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 07:18

@TakingtheLeap I'm feeling ok apart from incredibly feeling sick in the mornings on the drive to work. Actually wondering if it's travel sickness instead of like morning sickness... love that you saw a heartbeat though. That's everyone's goal isn't it! X

mrsof20118 · 21/11/2018 13:06

Did anybody have brown spotting aftee they received their positive? I thought implantation bleeding should only be a few days and had it on and off since Thursday. It's not red at all just brown and not blood like. X

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 14:19

I'm so happy.
9th Nov - 1150
19th Nov - 17936 😘

HCG LEVELS!

mrsof20118 · 21/11/2018 14:35

That's great news @Delilah7. Did your docs offer this or did you have to forcefully request it? I'm lucky if I can even get through on the phone to mine for an appointment! I haven't even tested again since Sunday which is bloody good going for me! X

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 14:38

@mrsof20118 they half suggested half requested as I couldn't get a an early scan on NHS. I'm so happy lol x

RMarieClaire · 21/11/2018 15:00

Congrats @Delilah7 - was this just from your blood test results? The midwife said I'd hear from the doctor only if something was wrong, so I guess it's good that I've not hear anything after 9 days, but nice to know if things are good too!

RMarieClaire · 21/11/2018 15:02

@mrsof20118 mention to your doctor, but everything I've read - here and online - has said this kind of thing so long as it's spotting is perfectly normal

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 15:02

@RMarieClaire yes Hun :) x

Giraffe888 · 21/11/2018 16:30

@mrsof20118 I too have read that spotting can be completely normal! I’ve read on another thread some ladies having spotting as far on as 7-8 wks x

mrsof20118 · 21/11/2018 19:03

I'm hoping so thanks all. I rang docs in the end and spoke to the gp who asked me to go in. She said to just check things are ok she will refer me for blood tests so should have those done tomorrow and Monday to check they are doubling.

@Delilah7 how far gone were you for both those tests? X

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 19:32

@mrsof20118 5 weeks and 2 days and 6 weeks 6 days. Based on LMP :) x

TakingtheLeap · 21/11/2018 20:04

@Delilah7 That's wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!

mrsof20118 · 23/11/2018 17:39

How's everyone getting on?

RMarieClaire · 23/11/2018 21:43

@mrsof20118 well, morning sickness has quickly turned into evening sickness. Or more like from midday till bed time sickness. Longest hangover of my life, and some of my favourite foods are now well off the menu!

Early scan on Sunday which I'm nervous but excited about.

How are you doing?

ithinkillstayhereallday · 24/11/2018 22:28

Hi all! Had my scan today at 8 weeks 3 days :-) baby was perfect and we got to hear the heartbeat which was really lovely :-) this is the furthest we have got so far so fingers optimistically crossed!

ithinkillstayhereallday · 24/11/2018 22:28

@Delilah7 so pleased for you! I was thinking of you today actually so nice to read you're doing well :-)

Delilah7 · 25/11/2018 09:24

@ithinkillstayhereallday thank you! So glad your scan went well. Mines Thursday x x

HayleyHaystack · 25/11/2018 10:35

Wonder if anyone has advice or at least can put mind at rest. Went to a wedding yesterday and it was seriously hard with all the “alcohol pushers”. I had one glass of champagne which I nursed for hours. Today I feel dreadful, almost hungover-like, with an upset stomach. Finding it hard to get out of bed. Was it totally stupid to have that one drink?

Ithinkillstayhereallday · 25/11/2018 11:00

I wouldn't worry about it @HayleyHaystack :-) I went out a few weeks ago and didn't even have a sip of alcohol but woke up the next day feeling like I'd done a million shots! I think it's all part of pregnancy, feeling hungover when you're not! ☺️

HayleyHaystack · 25/11/2018 11:46

Thank you @ithinkillstayhereallday - it’s really knocked me! That’s exactly it - feel like I’ve done a bottle of cheap white! Don’t feel I’ve slept much either. If this is the start of morning sickness then omg I don’t think I’m ready!
