Hello! Marking my place 😊 28+1 today. Shattered and sweaty!

BrewsD · 04/09/2018 11:56

Marking my place 🙋🏽‍♀️
Hope everyone is doing ok?
Very tired but otherwise feeling good & excited!

Just had my GTT. Got a numb bum sitting in the chair for 2 hours but back at work now and am so tired. Waiting for food to kick in!

dw23 · 04/09/2018 13:04

Hi all, I'm currently nearing 32 weeks and missed my first midwife appointment today because my IBS has flared up massively and yeah I'm basically running back and forth to the toilet all day Blush. I feel terrible for missing it and gutted I can't get my measurements and hear the heart beat again but I'm rescheduled for next week so I'm just taking it easy and drinking lots of fluids.

Also, I've only just realised what a GTT is! Sounds awful all that waiting around, I only had a quick blood test for GD at the clinic and haven't heard back so assuming that's okay.

Italianshark · 04/09/2018 13:09

Got my 28-week appt today - I woke up with a temperature and now my sinus' have started burning, feeling head heavy... Wahoo... lol.

Also got stopped in the toilet today and a colleague went "sooo when you due" and I said "November" and she went "oooo still got a long way to go then for the size of ya".

Like... were in September, there is 2 months until November. Peoples opinions like that baffle me lol.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/09/2018 14:25

I've had the same today @Italianshark - didn't actually tell them I was officially due in December though!

dw23 · 04/09/2018 14:45

I've been having it pretty much the whole way through, people apparently delight in telling me I look huge for how far along I am or I'm about to pop etc I got a bit paranoid so asked the midwife who said I look tiny! Some people just love to be catty I think 🙄

Emma198 · 04/09/2018 15:10

I just had my consultant appointment and what I was told to be a growth scan, only to be told I don't need a growth scan because my BMI wasn't high enough! So he just listened to heartbeat and measured bump and I'm really not sure what he did that the midwife couldn't do!

BrewsD · 04/09/2018 15:19

I have the opposite problem...people always comment on how tiny I am and don't believe I only have a little over 2 months to go!

GreenGooner · 04/09/2018 15:22

Yay to the new thread 🙌🏼🙌🏼 also had my GTT today. Was sooooooo boring. Got a scan tomorrow as was on the monitor yesterday with reduced movement. All seemed ok but they just want to check him over.

Italianshark · 04/09/2018 15:36

Well that was confusing lol. Got told I had ketones in urine cos I'm not eating enough, but my measurements appear off the chart 😂🙈 I can only assume the heffer inside me is stealing it all!

Emma198 · 04/09/2018 17:13

ShockShock so @Italian your body releases ketones when it burns fat is that right? So they've said you're burning too much fat because you're not eating enough?

That centile is that top line? Mine has five lines for 5, 10, 50, 90 and 95.

What do they do about plotting so high up on the graph? Do you have to have a scan?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/09/2018 17:39

The liver produces ketones under the following conditions (if my degree serves me correctly!)

Starvation/fasting
Very low carb intake
Prolonged intense exercise
Uncontrolled diabetes
Alcoholism or other similar fatty liver disease

Italianshark · 04/09/2018 18:23

@Emma198 I don't really know? She said it could be showing as so high due to her position but didn't appear to be worried 🤔 so I have assumed I don't need to be.

I thought I'd been eating more than enough so I'm baffled! Making a chicken pasta for tomorrow's lunch 😂 get the carbs in!

Emma198 · 04/09/2018 18:27

Mine got plotted on 70th percentile today and husband is worrying about it but I pointed out that there's literally less than a centimetre from 5th to 95th so a big lunch or needing a wee can surely influence it!

We're so disappointed we're not getting extra scans afterall we were looking forward to seeing her!

KB07 · 04/09/2018 18:33

Marking my place too!

I had my GTT test today this morning, had 28 week midwife appt this afternoon and she already had my results. Negative thankfully!

Completely forgot to ask her when we write birth plan? Anyone done theirs or know when we write them?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/09/2018 18:43

That's a good question @KB07 I have similar queries but don't know when the right time to ask them is!

Emma198 · 04/09/2018 18:52

I think its at like 35 weeks or something! I downloaded one the other day and had a look through. They have templates on the NHS choices site.

Ja1992 · 04/09/2018 18:57

Hi everyone. Im due on 20th. Anyone else due on the same date? When around did you conceive?? And is your baby moving as much as mine lol xx

HungryN · 04/09/2018 19:23

I just went to a talk about water births at my hospital and we got a tour of the midwife led suites. Apparently they are barely in use which surprised me and pleased me as I definitely want to be in one of them when the time comes!

dw23 · 04/09/2018 19:24

I think we do the birth plan at 36 weeks here, the midwife does a home visit to discuss it which will be our second home visit which is apparently quite uncommon.

@Ja1992 Hi, I'm due on the 8th November, I'm pretty sure we conceived on 13th February, pre-Valentine's baby Grin and yes my baby is moving near constantly.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/09/2018 19:52

I won't have a birth plan as such (that was planned for me before I was even pregnant!) but have definite questions about how long I'll be left to my own devices for before they decide it's an exit via the sunroof.

Antenatal classes start tomorrow evening, dreading it!!!
