@cryptonaut you're going to pregnancy class? Should I be too? Not signed up for anything! Panic!

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 21/06/2018 15:17

@InDreamland Don't panic. It's only because there's a privately run one in my area. Usually classes only take you later in pregnancy but this lady says you're welcome at any stage.

Hi everyone, can I join?

I think I'm around 9 weeks but as I'm not 100% sure my midwife has booked me in for my 12 week scan next week!? Surely this will be too early? Does anyone know what will happen if I'm correct and I'm only 10 weeks?

I'm also suffering with nausea/sickness. For the past 2 weeks I've really struggled even getting out of bed. I have a 5 year old also so I'm feeling really guilty I'm being such a bad mum at the moment. I've tried the eating little and often, sipping on water through the day and ginger biscuits but nothing seems to be helping. Any more tips?

m4rdybum · 21/06/2018 17:06

@Yummum19 - welcome to to thread!

If you are only 10 weeks, they'll probably get you back for another scan.

In regards to tips for nausea, only one I have is grit your teeth and bear it. Nothing has worked for me to be honest.

InDreamland · 21/06/2018 18:44

Oh good thanks @cryptonaut. Can tell I am completely clueless.

Hello @yummum19. Welcome to the January team! I have those travel sickness bands that go round your wrists which help take the edge off the nausea.

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 21/06/2018 19:18

@Yummum19 I find that if I'm nauseous but not hungry then something very sugary such as sweets help (tangy ones like tangfastics work for me), not exactly healthy but 1 or 2 pieces is sufficient to take the edge off. If I'm hungry then I feel a lot closer to being sick than just feeling nauseous so having my meal then works, it just takes so long to get through it due to the sick feeling but feel loads better for it.

Jesus, I have had the worst migraine of my life today. Started with an optical so I couldn’t see anything for half an hour, that wore off and I thought I was safe. Nope, the pain struck in the middle of the supermarket. Been in and out of sleep all day, it’s still unbearable now. I’ve had migraines before but they normally wear off after a couple of hours (and normally I can take meds). I don’t think I’ve ever felt so much pain.

Noodles14 · 21/06/2018 21:03

Hi all. Just wondered if any of you second/third/fourth time mums can tell me about the dating scan.
Do you get to see a midwife at this appointment or just the sonographer? I'm only wondering as I have a few general questions I want to ask the midwife but didn't know if I'd get the opportunity?!
TIA

InDreamland · 21/06/2018 22:00

Hope you feel better soon @Buttercup53.

9 weeks tomorrow .......this is really dragging. 12 week scan cannot come fast enough! I'm gonna be a nervous wreck by the time we have it in 3 weeks time.

OP posts:
WhirlingTurkey · 22/06/2018 08:04

@Yummum19 - dating scan can be done as early as eight weeks, so don't worry.

@Buttercup53 - you poor thing, I have history of awful migraines so I can 100% sympathise. I hope you are feeling better today.

@Noodles14 - in my experience I didn't see midwife at any of my scans, just sonographer. Although this could be different from place to place. Do you have a midwife assigned to you? If so you could just give her a call?

I have been off work some of this week as feeling so rough, I just can't cope! At home with toddler today - think we will be watching lots of CBeebies!

jellyfish2210 · 22/06/2018 08:38

@Buttercup53 I have chronic migraines and tried every preventative they could give me and nothing worked except management when I get a migraine. I take sumatriptan for them. I was told that sumatriptan hasn't shown to cause any problems. Limited info though as trials on pregnant women are significantly frowned upon! So far I have taken quite a few of them otherwise I would not be able to function

Hope you manage to get some relief!

Buttercup53 · 22/06/2018 09:24

Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate your sympathy and suggestions! I stopped getting migraines with aura probably 6 years ago when I stopped taking the combi pill, so clearly the hormones have caused it. Feel slightly better today, parts of my face are numb and I feel extremely nauseated but that’s better than yesterday!

InDreamland · 22/06/2018 19:32

My goodness what a hideous journey home this afternoon. Finished work early as meeting ended end thought great opportunity to miss horrid rush hourb only to find severe delays. Thankfully a kind man offered me a seat so for a couple of stops it was uncomfortable but at least I was sitting down - felt lightheaded, exhausted and shaky. But few stops later train terminated and we all got turfed off the train. Waited 25 mins for another one, thankfully an empty train started meaning I nabbed a seat but it was so hot and guven how awful I was feeling just a hideous journey home.

Crashed out on the sofa again when I got home. When will this tiredness end?

Just been speaking to my cousin in South Africa as she wanted my address to send us a wedding invite. She asked how much postage was for us to send hers when we got married, which was only a couple of £s, and I was shocked to find out that for her to send one to us is probably going to cost the equivalent of £60! I told her not to bother and put that money towards other areas of the wedding, especially since I know I won't be able to go as it's only a few weeks after my due date, but she doesn't know that. I'm not ready to make the news that public until after my scan in just over 2 weeks when I will know for sure if I have to reply with a no (if that makes sense). On the plus side she said she's hand making the invites so hopefully she won't be ready to send it until after I have the scan.

sexnotgender · 23/06/2018 07:29

I'm not sure I'd want to fly to South Africa a few weeks after my due date, what if you go 2 weeks over then have a section?
My husband is South African so we were there in April and the flight was looooong. Then KLM arsed around overbooking our flight and kicked us off the return leg.

FuckMyUterus · 23/06/2018 12:36

Hi guys... I'm back again. Have received my scan date for Thursday 28th at 11am but I'll only be 10 weeks by then :/ not complaining obviously though. Still insanely tired and have horrendous back ache :(

purplesmiler · 23/06/2018 20:40

Well my symptoms have been more settled today however I have now developed a cold which DH has had for the past few days. Feeling a little sorry for myself so having takeaway tonight.

jadem1990 · 24/06/2018 09:53

Hi guys, thought i would pop in! Was on the last thread briefly. Due 17th of Jan and am awaiting my scan on the 12th of July.

I am so exhausted but I am very lucky as morning sickness hasn't really come. I've felt nauseous at times but I wouldn't say its daily. My boobs are still really sore on the morning but they seem to ease as the day goes on.

We have had one MC so I am a little anxious but we are just trying to take it one day at a time and enjoy it.

Hope everyone is feeling ok!

Buttercup53 · 24/06/2018 12:23

I feel like all I do in this thread is moan! Hopefully I’ll have more positive stuff to say when I’ve had my scan etc. But on that note: is anyone else struggling with stretching pains? Mine started around 6 weeks and lead to me having an early scan as it was so painful. Nearly every day I have feelings like a bad period cramp, but every so often for about 15 minutes I get a pain so intense I start sweating, all I can do is curl up in a ball and wait for it to pass, I can’t stand up, I can’t move, it’s that intense. Leaves me feeling very sick when it’s over. I know it’s normal because I’ve had checks to ensure it is and spoken to my midwife about it - just feels like another thing they don’t tell you about before you get pregnant! Anyone else experienced the same thing, or have I just got particularly relunctant organs/a very low pain threshold?!

InDreamland · 24/06/2018 16:41

@Buttercup53 that doesn't sound nice at all. Hope it passes. Luckily I've not had that.

Tiredness is my main complaint with lightheadedness, dizziness, a little nausea but not throwing up, sensitive/sore boobs and eczema really flaring up. Think compared to others on here I'm getting away lightly with symptoms even if I still feel sorry for myself.

Quite anxious .......anyone else on 24 hour knicker watch hoping for no bleeding every time they go to the loo?

So scared something will be wrong at the 12 week scan and with the screening tests.

OP posts:
Wowthisisreal · 24/06/2018 17:57

@InDreamland I had a horrible dream last night where I was bleeding and I woke up convinced I was. Woke DH and asked him to come with me to the loo - it really freaked me out.

So tired. Struggling at the moment with nausea and sickness and eating regularly. Poor DH doesn't know when his next meal is coming!!

Also, random question but libido? Has anyone else's just completely disappeared? DH is very understanding but I'm feeling guilty. Is it a first trimester thing!? I'm 9+2!

helloworld88 · 24/06/2018 20:19

@InDreamland yes 😂I thoroughly inspect the tissue and my knickers every time!!

InDreamland · 24/06/2018 22:07

@Wowthisisreal that's awful. It can be so worrying can't it. I Have also had a nightmare like that and it made me feel so sick and upset then was so relieved when nothing there when I ran to the loo.

@helloworld88 glad I'm not the only one.

My anxiety is so high. 5 mins after I've been to the loo I'm convinced I can feel something and think I have started bleeding and have to resist running to the loo again to check.

OP posts:
InDreamland · 24/06/2018 22:10

@Wowthisisreal I can't decide if I'm feeling like sex or not. One minute I think I'm in the mood then I change my mind ...... normally because of the thought of his penis going anywhere near bean or somehow causing a mc.

OP posts:
FuckMyUterus · 25/06/2018 07:57

Does anyone else keep having like a streak or so of blood/brown discharge and then it disappears, and then it keeps reoccurring? It's making me so nervous for the scan this Thursday :(
