I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow, and since the booking appointment, I've gained 1 kg. Since my last period I've gained around 4 kg. I ate like a horse in the first few months. I didn't have a whole lot of morning sickness, and when I did, eating helped.
We have a 7 year old cocker spaniel (not working dog), and I'm not too worried about her - she's pretty well-behaved and doesn't bark. My only worry is that she will feel forgotten in some way - she's a sensitive little dog.
She will never be left alone with a child - more for her safety than the child's.
Regarding nursery, I think we'll try to keep it simple and affordable. I have a nice chair in the living room which is taking up too much space, but I don't know if it will nice to feed in as it is very low and has wide wooden armrests.
I've always wanted a nice rocking chair for a nursery, but I'm not sure they are as practical as I hope they will be.
We haven't bought anything yet - we're waiting until after the 20 week scan. Then we'll start with the pram and accessories, as well as car seat.
I think we'll get most of the nursery furniture from Ikea, but I am considering looking at nicer mattresses for the cot from somewhere else. I don't really want to get a whole lot of stuff as we'll either move or redecorate when the baby gets a bit older. We'll just keep the white walls and put some art up, I think.
We've started emptying the spare bedroom so we can turn it into the nursery. There is so much work to do - as there's a large sofabed that we want to move to a large room downstairs so we can turn that into another living room/office space.
This requires other rooms to be moved around - my little craft/sewing room will have to be moved around a bit (it has also been a spare bedroom, but the bed will have to go), and I also don't know where to put my makeup, bags and jewellery.
My DH wants to empty the loft as well - just to make it easier in the future.
We are hoping to get it done soon, as I worry that I will not be able to help much with carrying stuff around later on.
I've also started driving - I've had a license for years, but since moving to the UK, I've not been massively keen on driving. But we got a new car and I must admit that I'm enjoying driving again - but the car is significantly larger than what I've driven before and the UK roads are more narrow than the roads I used to drive on.
I'm taking it easy as I feel like there is a massive difference in how people drive abroad and how they drive here.
