The Morrck blanket! They're really useful.

FuckMyUterus · 09/08/2018 17:12

Hi ladies, does anyone have a doppler at home? I'm going to pick one up this evening, I know midwives don't recommend them but I'm so excited!

cryptonaut · 09/08/2018 19:07

I've thought about getting a Doppler. When the midwife listened to the heartbeat she used one so don't see why they don't recommend them at home. I've heard that it can take some practice to find the heartbeat though so if you do get one then don't panic if you can't get it straight away, just keep trying

FuckMyUterus · 09/08/2018 22:14

Found the heartbeat first go! Eeeek. However, just had the shock of my life, went to the loo and my pants were filled with thick dark red blood, and it was trickling into the toilet :( after much frantic investigation, it turns out a haemorrhoid has burst. Does anyone know if I need to go to the hospital? Bleeding has slowed now but obviously there's risk of infection.

GinGeum · 10/08/2018 08:02

sqoodles that blanket looks amazing! I think I will order one, looks very handy.

Fuck that is scary! Hope you’ve got over the fright. Sorry can’t advise on hospital or not, but hope it’s been okay overnight!

Some of our reusable nappies arrived yesterday that I’d bought second hand. DH was Home early from work because of the rain so I handed one to him. After actually letting me demonstrate how they work to him and having a go of them himself (and not just shoo-ing me away), he then stuck his hand in one and said ‘this actually makes an amazing sheep puppet, can we sew eyes on them?’ - he is completely inexperienced with any kind of baby or child, but in that moment, I knew he was going to be bloody amazing at being a dad regardless. Risk - if my DH can get into baby mode, you definitely can! Grin

sqoodles · 10/08/2018 09:32

Fuck I hope you are alright? Have you been checked out? Look after yourself.

Gin your OH sounds like he's going to be great!

I'm feeling lots of movement now, especially in the evening. It just feels like bubbles popping against my insides. I don't think I felt anything last time until about 20wks though. We had quite a spicy Nepalese curry the other night and that got the baby moving loads!

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 10/08/2018 09:51

Hi all! I’m due 19/1/19 and the only thing i’ve really thought of is the Cocoon babies blanket - trying not to get over excited until 20 week scan next month.

sexnotgender · 10/08/2018 09:52

Hi Quirky, I’m due the same dateSmile

Kate123cl · 10/08/2018 10:04

Hi guys! I've only bought the sleepyhead deluxe (I've heard SO many amazing things about it)! And a few outfits as I couldn't help myself!

I haven't felt any movement but guessing it's normal as it's my first and I'm only 15+3!

I have an early gender scan booked for next Sunday. Has anyone else booked one or will you wait for your 20 weeks? Smile

FuckMyUterus · 10/08/2018 10:10

Didn't go to hospital as the bleeding stopped very suddenly, and there's no real pain.
Hating the fact that you're all due before me, my baby will most likely be a February baby!

chickita04 · 10/08/2018 10:15

@FuckMyUterus what's your date? I'm 23rd jan. thinking I'll probably be feb too as it's my first!

sexnotgender · 10/08/2018 10:17

Kate - I’m waiting for my NHS one, mine is at 19 weeks so not long to go.
I’m 17 weeks tomorrow Smile it’s going so quickly!!

AmyJGL · 10/08/2018 10:19

Hi, a bit late to signing up but expecting my first on 8 January and I'd love to join the thread. I've been somewhat overwhelmed with the NVP up until this week. Finally receeding and starting to feel human again! Grin
Are you guys still active here or have you moved to a FB group? I'm new to Mumsnet in general and still trying to navigate my way around.

Kate123cl · 10/08/2018 10:22

@sexnotgender aww amazing!! It's so exciting Smile

@FuckMyUterus I'm due 25th Jan according to NHS but going by my dates I'm due 29th!

FuckMyUterus · 10/08/2018 10:26

I'm 31st January 😂

GinGeum · 10/08/2018 10:42

Amy my due date is the same as yours Smile

Kate let us know what your sex scan says! I almost booked an early one, but the nearest place to go is miles away, so I was being indecisive for ages. I’ve only got 11 more days (not that I’m counting Wink) until my 20 week scan now so I’ll just wait for that.

Has anyone got an inkling what sex their baby will be? I am utterly convinced mine is a girl...

Kate123cl · 10/08/2018 10:55

@GinGeum Ah well at least you haven't got long to wait! Smile I'll let you know what mine is!

I have a feeling I'm having a boy and everyone on the nub groups on Facebook also said boy! X

littlebug19 · 10/08/2018 10:56

Hello - I'm new here!

Due 12th January 2019 with our first baby and very excited!

wimbler · 10/08/2018 11:03

Thought I'd join as I'm due 24th December but with first baby so expecting to be late! Currently 20+4 and my 20w scan is this time next week. Time has been dragging these last few weeks whilst we wait for that. I imagine time will fly afterwards!! Still yet to buy a single item (apart from two pairs of totally impractical but bloody cute baby shoes that my husband bought one day to cheer me up

jennac · 10/08/2018 11:24

Hi @wimbler - welcome! I know what you mean, my scan is on 20th August and it really seems to be dragging!! I hope yours comes round quick - only one week to go! Have you felt any movements yet? I haven't and I think that's making things harder as I'm waiting for some kind of clarification! Hoping it's to do with where the placenta is x

wimbler · 10/08/2018 11:35

@jennac thanks!

I started feeling movement at 17w so for a few weeks now and it's starting to get into a predictable pattern too. Pretty sure baby had hiccups the other day as it was a very rhythmic thumping in the same place for a good minute or so. Although as a FTM i'm purely guessing! Husband can also feel which is really nice although it freaks him out a bit still! My placenta was posterior and low at my 12w scan so my midwife said I might feel movement quite early but I was surprised at how unmistakable it was. At first it felt like I was being flicked or poked from the inside. Now it's proper thumps. It's magical, I love it!

Merrz · 10/08/2018 11:37

Nice to see some newbies, Hi!
I'm due 18th January, 17 weeks today. Haven't felt anything yet but had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and she said some people don't feel anything until 25 weeks, especially with a 1st pregnancy, so nothing to worry about ladies.
I haven't bought a thing yet either, going to wait until after 20 week scan.
We're not going to find out what we're having but i'm convinced it's a girl, mainly because i've been quite sick.

jennac · 10/08/2018 12:02

Thank you @Merrz that makes me feel much better!!

purplesmiler · 10/08/2018 14:12

ÃŒm due 30th Jan and my scan isn't until mid September when I will be 20+6 so i know what you mean @fuckmyuterus

Wowthisisreal · 10/08/2018 14:52

What is the Facebook group I keep hearing about?
