I have my 12 week scan tomorrow . Has anyone had a sonograoher guess at the gender on their 12 week scan? I've heard of it happening but was not told with either of my previous DC. I did cheekily ask with DC2 but she couldn't (or wouldn't !) Tell !

FirstTimeBumps · 15/07/2018 19:19

@cloud9889 there's a place by mine doing nub theory scan packages. Scan at 12 weeks with a guess based on nub theory then a confirmation at 16 weeks. Think they're trying to work out whether it is possible to tell that early or not. Our sonographer was a right crank and my other half doesn't want to know (and I'm being dragged along for the 9 month suspense ride) so we didn't bother asking x

purplesmiler · 15/07/2018 21:35

Hope you all had a good weekend ladies.

My nausea has increased not actually being sick but the feeling has been lasting much longer. It's so crazy how symptoms change.

FuckMyUterus · 15/07/2018 21:40

purplesmiler mine has disappeared completely, to be replaced by the worst heartburn and indigestion I've ever experienced! I only had a ruptured stomach ulcer last year so I wonder if that's something to do with it. Still horrendously tired, needing a nap to get through each day. 1 week tomorrow to my next scan, I have my consultant appointment tomorrow.

purplesmiler · 16/07/2018 08:23

@FuckMyUterus hope it settles for you. Rennies have been everywhere with me in recent weeks.

My scan is a week tomorrow, anxious when I think about it but keep thinking positive.

Feeling sick again this morning and really tired. Can't stop burping I wake myself up sometimes when I turn in bed as I burp.

FuckMyUterus · 16/07/2018 09:18

Rennies aren't doing it for me, have to have ranitidine. Tbh I'd take it all day every day to have a healthy baby, so I shouldn't be moaning really. Ooh you're the day after me! Hoping they tell me at mine that my sac has caught up in size and all is fine.

FuckMyUterus · 16/07/2018 12:41

Consultant has put me on Clexane injections for the entire pregnancy plus 6 weeks post-partum. 😭

purplesmiler · 16/07/2018 12:49

@FuckMyUterus I was told I may have to take those and will find out at my consultant appointment next week. Are they daily?

FuckMyUterus · 16/07/2018 14:30

Yes purplesmiler daily. I'm on 60mg (0.6ml) every evening before bed.

Hi guys, haven’t updated in a while. Nice to see some new people here :) I’m really struggling with this heat now, I don’t fit into any of my summer clothes so I’m constantly rotating between a few baggy dresses I’ve recently bought. Had no idea I would struggle with clothing this early, it’s mainly my chest more than than anything as most of my summer clothing is tight fitting. I think I’ve conservatively gone up 2-3 cup sizes. My stomach is still incredibly sensitive so anything with a tight waistband is out too - everyone keeps telling me to wear leggings but the waist band digs into my stomach and makes me feel really sick! For the first time in my life I hate my skinny jeans and fitted vests. I’d give anything for it to be autumn now so I can wear baggy jumpers again.

On a happier note, everyone now officially knows. I get paranoid that it means something is going to go wrong, but at some point I am going to look pregnant so I can’t not say anything forever. Everyone’s been really nice about it and I’ve already been given some cute newborn gifts which is so kind and unexpected. Mental health so far has been good, had a few blips last week but today I managed to walk my dog on my own without having a panic attack, so I’m taking that as a massive achievement and giving myself a bit of a pat on the back.

cryptonaut · 16/07/2018 16:12

@Buttercup53 sorry to hear about the clothing issue. I'm having the same problem, I haven't been able to wear anything with a tight waistband for well over a month now. I've been in shorts that are too big for me, loose fitting skirts and dresses as well. All my work shirts keep popping open at the chest (which is embarrassing at customer meetings) and had to buy a new bra as I've gone up 2 cup sizes already as well.

Really happy to hear that you've had good responses to your news. It makes all the difference especially if you're nervous about telling people. The only people I have left to tell are my work colleagues, as we all work from home we barely see each other so want to spare them the shock next time we meet up. Although the reactions would be funny to see lol

Also good to hear that your mental health has been generally good. I know how it feels when you are able to do something that seems so insignificant to most, I've had long periods where I called it a successful day if I were able to shower and/or brush my teeth without a panic attack so I think being able to walk the dog on your own without a panic attack is a monumental win and you should be extremely proud of yourself. I wish you good mental health, especially through the rest of this wonderful journey.

purplesmiler · 16/07/2018 16:21

So pleased to hear your positive update @Buttercup53 it must be great to share the news too.

Clothes wise I've really noticed I need bigger knickers as well as a softer bra. I can't wear anything that needs fastening as it's just uncomfortable I live in maxi dresses right now.

chickita04 · 17/07/2018 10:25

Hey ladies,

Not been on for a while. I'm 13 weeks and still feel awful. I'm not sleep well at all and I have absolutely no energy 😩 anyone got any advice? When will I feel human again.... x

purplesmiler · 17/07/2018 10:59

@chickita04 I don't think the heat is helping even with a fan at the end of my bed I struggle but it does help. I keep waking up feeling sick during the night too. Energy wise I do find snacking on fruit perks me up a bit in the afternoons.

Jigglyjugs · 17/07/2018 11:19

Hi everyone! This heat is hideous to sleep in, I wake up so much in the night. And I've been quite grumpy this week although also come down with a cold, so that is defo not helping.

I had my scan today though! All looking good, just have to wait for bloods to come back. I wanted to see if I could do nub theory, but I don't know if the pictures are clear enough. Been put forward by 4 days, so now due 24th Jan.

chickita04 · 17/07/2018 11:48

@Jigglyjugs glad your scan went well! I'm due 23rd jan so pretty much same stage as you.
I'm so grumpy at the mo with no sleep I've been called dragon lady by my other half! So lovely of him!
What's the nub theory??

Jigglyjugs · 17/07/2018 12:08

Hi @chickita04 Smile
Ha I'm so grumpy, I work with kids and they said I'm in a delightful mood!

Nub theory - basically there is a tube on/in baby that will eventually mature into proper genitals, theory goes that the angle it sits at can determine wether it's a girl or a boy. If you do a search on here I'm sure you'll find a better explanation!

chickita04 · 17/07/2018 12:16

@Jigglyjugs haha were allowed to be grumpy!
Interesting we're not finding out anyway but always interested to know all these different theories! Did you see anything on your scan to indicate either way?

Jigglyjugs · 17/07/2018 12:19

I hadn't heard of it before I joined here - obviously it's just a bit of fun! I want to find out, we are thinknig of paying for an early gender scan, I'm impatient like that!

No, it was very stubborn and kept rolling over so it's back was to us; it did not enjoy being poked Grin!

Wowthisisreal · 17/07/2018 12:50

@Jigglyjugs my due date was moved to 24th Jan too! 😊

purplesmiler · 17/07/2018 13:05

aww so excited for you all with your scans, I have another week to wait. I think we are going to find out the gender but it will be at the 20 week scan all being well.

cryptonaut · 17/07/2018 15:12

My letter for 20 week scan said that if you ask they'll try and have a look for gender but if it's not immediately obvious they won't spend time looking for it... sounds a little rude but I can understand why. Hoping to find out, if they can't find it on the regularly scheduled scan I may pay for a private gender scan, we'll see.

Hope all of those still waiting for their scans have good experiences :)

Buttercup53 · 17/07/2018 17:19

Keep falling behind on this board, but thank you @cryptonaut and @purplesmiler, it’s so lovely when people you don’t know take the time to reply so thank you.

Turns out that when people know, pretty much the first thing they want to talk about is ‘oooh I bet you’ve been sick loads’ as if they get some kind of grim enjoyment out of it. Felt like saying actually I have a phobia of being sick so actually it’s not that funny when it’s sending me insane!

So excited for everyone having their scans, it’s probably the nicest part of it for me so far so I hope you guys really enjoyed it.

Buttercup53 · 17/07/2018 19:49

Has anyone else started looking around at baby stuff? I had no idea it would be so expensive. Even things that I didn’t consider to be a ‘big’ purchase is priced in a way that I would normally try to avoid.

Cloud9889 · 17/07/2018 19:58

Here is my scan pic are there any nub theorists on here :)? Will take any guesses with a pinch of salt ;)
