Same as a few others. I will give breastfeeding a go but will express as soon as is practical. If I can't breastfeed I'll go and buy some formula without any second thoughts.

shallen · 21/08/2018 14:13

I'm intending to breast feed, but don't know how successful I will be and how long I'll be able to keep it up.

planning on hiring a pump from nct and expressing to do bottle feeding fairly soon into it, so I can sleep!

Ps my phone autocorrected pump, to pimp, was very tempted to leave it, but don't think nct hire out pimps!!!

HungryN · 21/08/2018 14:44

I’d like to breastfeed and express so that there can make parenting a little more equal between me and my partner. My friend is lending me a breast pump which is handy and much appreciated!

My baby is currently hiccuping inside my belly! So sweet!

dw23 · 21/08/2018 14:54

I'm going to try breastfeeding for as long as I possibly can as well, and then start expressing probably after a good 4-6 weeks, I know my husband would love to do night feeds etc. My mother's face when I said I would breastfeed though was a treat, she's still in shock, thinks it's a new-fangled hippy ideal and not literally the most natural thing in the entire world. I'm sure I'll be getting more negative opinions whatever I end up doing.

shallen · 21/08/2018 15:36

@HungryN what does your hiccuping baby feel like? I think I get it sometimes, little nudge like feelings with very consistent times between them, about a second and a half apart.

HungryN · 21/08/2018 16:03

@shallen where kicks feel distinctly like kicks, hiccups feel a bit more like a pulse every second or so apart. A regular little nudge is quite an accurate description!

Kt2108 · 21/08/2018 16:13

Ahhh so thats what that feeling is 😂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/08/2018 16:56

25 week midwife appointment done, all fine - not sure how long I can keep cruising like this!

BrewsD · 21/08/2018 17:26

Is anyone else struggling to sleep? I lay awake for hours each night listening to my partner snore! Probably getting about 2/3hours on a good night, nothing to do with being comfortable (bump is tiny) I just cannot switch off.

Melaniesunflower · 21/08/2018 17:30

I worry about the easy ride I've had so far as well I keep thinking something has to come along and bite me in the arse. DH is fully aware he has also been very jammy with me feeling so well and no mood swings/ hormonal episodes

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/08/2018 17:47

Definitely struggling with sleep. I fall asleep ok but I'm awake at 2:30am and really struggle to sleep again after that.

Statistically I should be a pregnancy nightmare. I'm either going to have an awful birth, or the child from hell as my comeuppance.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/08/2018 18:29

Arghhh typically the rare night I'm on call, I have to go in and won't be home until midnight 😭

shallen · 21/08/2018 18:49

@BrewsD partner+spare room=problem solved!!!
I'm joking..... partially......, my poor husband sleeps in the spare room about 4nights a week at the moment.

I just can't get comfortable, hate sleeping on my side and have to have loads of things in bed to prop me up so I don't roll on my back! I probably get about 4 hours decent sleep a night, am broken by Friday, luckily can have lie ins at the weekend and catch up.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/08/2018 19:08

We don't have a spare room at the moment 😭 I swear to god I could kill my husband in his sleep

hammeringinmyhead · 21/08/2018 19:39

Mine's away this week but I am sleeping worse without him!

My 28 week appt was fine too. I really was expecting to hate pregnancy but I keep forgetting I'm pregnant until DS gives me a boot in the ribs or I try and speed walk!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/08/2018 19:42

My husband went to a festival for 4 nights and I slept through without waking once, which is unheard of at the best of times!

orangejuicer · 21/08/2018 20:17

I'm hoping to breastfeed but will do whatever I need to for the baby with no guilt.

I generally wake up once a night to use the loo but am sleeping ok. Taking it in turns to sleep on sofa due to snoring (mine not his Sad)!

EL332 · 21/08/2018 22:12

@Emma198 can you tell me a bit more about the magic golden hour? I've read a couple of bits but wasn't sure on the logistics?

I too plan to breastfeed if my body and my baby agree 💕

Emma198 · 21/08/2018 22:42

@EL332 the only thing I'm unclear about is when the placenta is delivered and how that fits in! I read about it in the positive birthing book and we talked about it in my breastfeeding class. Essentially an hour of skin to skin after the baby is born, with skin to skin where the baby does the breastcrawl and feeds for the first time, all on their own! It's pretty amazing. There's videos of breastcrawl on YouTube x

@Emma198 from what I read that's what I was unsure about too... when and how is the placenta delivered and the cord clamped?

Did you want a delayed clamping do you think?

HungryN · 21/08/2018 23:15

On the subject of breastfeeding - here is a bit of tmi... took off my bra today and there were patches of leaked colostrum on it!

Emma198 · 21/08/2018 23:27

Yeah I want delayed clamping. I think golden hour literally starts immediately when baby is there and placenta is delivered after. Apparently hormones released in feeding help in the process!

Kt2108 · 22/08/2018 07:56

All been fine apart from so many emotions now! 28 week appt today so will see how that goes

Delayed clamping for me too- as far as I'm aware for the placenta there are two options. Can't remember the name but it's basically needle to make it deliver or let it deliver naturally x

Italianshark · 22/08/2018 10:29

I am FF too... @greengooner have a look at the tommee tippee prep machine, we've just bought it.

GreenGooner · 22/08/2018 10:39

Hey @Italianshark yes it's on my list to get. I'm considering leaving it upstairs so I don't have to traipse down to make a bottle in the middle of the night. Starting to feel a bit more organised now but currently off work sick as I'm so exhausted. Feel so guilty about it x
