Aaaaand this www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0415870534?tag=mumsnetforum-21
As recommended by my therapist multiple times over the several years trying to put right the damage my own parents did to me 😂

EL332 · 29/07/2018 20:57

@Another that's so useful ❤️ thank you!

You really have got this under control haven't you!

The Sue Gerhardt book should be good, I have a degree in Child Development and remember really loving some of what she wrote 🙂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 29/07/2018 21:05

Oh you're well ahead then!

On the surface I'm the least organised person in the world but once a bit of time pressure kicks in, I'm fine. I planned and organised our entire wedding from scratch including doing the catering myself - even down to making 80 bags of personalised confetti - that's when I realised that I was slightly more organised than I had ever thought I was!!

EL332 · 29/07/2018 21:06

@Another that's me all over - generally disorganised and then a project with a time limit and I'm all steam ahead 🙂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 29/07/2018 21:12

I definitely need a time pressure or a crisis to function. Most of my degree was achieved by frequenting the 24 hour library in the hours before the hand in deadline!

EL332 · 29/07/2018 21:14

I wonder whether motherhood will change that for either of us @Another?? 💕

orangejuicer · 29/07/2018 21:18

Thanks another I'll be saving that list!

ND348 · 29/07/2018 22:48

Wow another I'm impressed! I've got pur travel system an a few eBay bulk buys of first and 0-3 clothes. We have got a man round to quote for built in furniture due to the awkward shape of the soon to the nursery. And bugging DH to get an internal door the the garage as no way will i be carrying all that extra washing outside to get to the washing machine once baby's here!
Other than that only other purchase is a maternity pillow, but think I need to upgrade that to a massive one, I've got one that is long on one side and short on the other, but it's not enough to stop me rolling onto my back at night....

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/07/2018 07:33

I've just bought a 12ft one of these (I'm over 6ft tall). No idea what it'll be like for that price but I was hoping that at least getting it from a UK seller it wouldn't be laced with anthrax or ricin or anything

Emma198 · 30/07/2018 08:56

@Another that's what I have Grin a 12 foot one too even though I'm not very tall. Be careful when putting it in pillowcase or it will squish and be too short. I absolutely love it, so comfy to bring on to the sofa with you too for watching telly, and meant to be brilliant for breastfeeding too. The only problem I have is that it isn't heavy enough to stop me rolling on to my back.

My baby didn't move a lot yesterday and i was a bit worried. Then she jumped about, mainly on my bladder from about midnight til half one. She must have moved because I'd never felt her on my bladder before but I've never been so scared that I'm about to spontaneously wee everywhere. I'm so tired 😴😴

Hi - I haven't introduced myself here but I'm 19w today and due on Christmas Eve! Some very organised people here, I'm impressed! I've not bought a single item yet but have booked in for one of those John Lewis appointments in a month or so. I'm not sure how useful it will be but I'm looking forward to testing out a few of the buggies I've got my eye on. Trying to move house at the moment so we haven't got space to store anything in our little 1.5 bed flat anyway!

Still waiting for the anomaly scan which isn't for another 3 weeks...time is dragging!

shallen · 30/07/2018 12:04

@wimbler hello and welcome!

Glad to see someone else who hasn't started shopping yet, I had decided I wasn't going to do anything till after my scan (which I had at 20 weeks, last week) so now I feel I can get on with it!!

Seeyounexttue · 30/07/2018 13:33

I only found out at the end of last week, and felt so calm and serene.

That didn't last long! Now that we've told our friends and family, panic has well and truly set in! I've been told for the last decade that I'd probably never get pregnant, so now I'm wondering if this is a 1 in a million, or if I might be able to conceive a sibling for bump in the future?

I think I'm going to have to go back through the thread and copy your shopping lists, as we have absolutely nothing. Dragging partner out today to look for paint for the nursery though, which I'm quite excited for (am I the only person in the world who loves painting/decorating?).

dw23 · 30/07/2018 13:33

Thank you for your list and info @AnotherOriginalUsername - I didn't even know you could get self-sterilising bottles, I'll look into that. I was so convinced I wanted a pregnancy pillow but changed my mind, my bump is so big I can't even roll over on to it anyways without it being so unbearably uncomfortable. Might get a smaller one once baby is here to help with breastfeeding.

Dear god, I have a sore throat now and feel exhausted after the whooping cough vaccine. Gonna try some ginger tea with lemon and honey, hope everyone else is feeling better.

dw23 · 30/07/2018 13:35

This is me at 6 months tomorrow! She's kicking in earnest now and I can see definite hands or feet coming through underneath the skin! Shock.

Aaaw @DW23 gorgeous bump! What's your due date?a

OP posts:
dw23 · 30/07/2018 14:20

Thanks Smile, I'm due on 8th November, kinda hoping this baby doesn't follow my husband's family history of massive babies, talking 12 pounders as I'm only 5 ft and everything already feels super tight.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/07/2018 14:23

So weak willed!

Emma198 · 30/07/2018 14:50

Aw you're just a couple of weeks ahead of my I wonder if my bump is due a growth spurt 😂

She's definitely moved - I'm constantly at the toilet she's squishing my bladder more than she was before.

@Another that's lovely! Their stuff is so nice. X

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/07/2018 15:13

And so expensive 😂

Emma198 · 30/07/2018 16:51

Oh yes that too!

OP posts:
EL332 · 30/07/2018 22:54

@AnotherOriginalUsername I feel inspired to gather all the little bits I've got stored away and make my own little inventory of what I have and what I need 🙂 I've been very lucky and have a friend with a boy who will be a year older than mine so she has given me so much stuff and it's all the right seasons too 💕 so much of it is new or barely used too - she's saved us a fortune and it's feels good to be reusing and recycling ♻️

Emma198 · 30/07/2018 23:16

Did you get sorted with work today @EL332? X

OP posts:
EL332 · 30/07/2018 23:38

@Emma198 I wouldn't say sorted but my manager has taken it on and is going to try and get some answers for me xx

It was my first day back today... I went in for 3 hours then when I came home slept for 3 hours... I'm just wiped at the moment...

Luckily I'm on a phased return so just mornings this week xx

hammeringinmyhead · 31/07/2018 10:46

Hey everyone! 25 weeks today. 15 to go! We've also bought a Cosatto Giggle 2 as Mothercare was doing it for £440 with free car seat. We've bought a cot bed from Ikea which is all in boxes. The main reason for shopping now is that I'm currently still in a position where I can help assemble flat pack/paint walls but I won't be in a few weeks as my bump is enormous.

Clothes wise we bought a fair amount in the Next sale (got loads for 50 quid), mum's knitted 4 cardigans/jackets, and the in-laws cleaned out the John Lewis sale. I have only got 6 newborn size suits though in case he needs 0-3 straight off. If not DH can nip to Tesco or Sainsbury's for more! I also need a snowsuit.

The last big thing we need is a bedside cot. I'm a bit miffed they're all £200 tbh. The Ikea cot bed was only £170 and will last 3 years!

I haven't a clue on bottles, sterilisers etc. I plan to breastfeed and express but it's an equipment minefield.
