My genetic testing results have come back as inconclusive - not sure how I feel about that!

Emma198 · 17/07/2018 19:50

@Another in what sense? What does it mean?

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 17/07/2018 20:07

They haven't identified a gene that causes it. That doesn't mean it isn't genetic (it has to be - every person on one side of my family going back 4 generations has or had it) but that it's not caused by a gene that they have already identified as causing the condition.

EL332 · 17/07/2018 23:28

That all sounds quite overwhelming @Another ❤️ I hope you're ok xx

ND348 · 18/07/2018 13:05

@Emma198 we went to pramworld. We have a shop near us so we went to try it out but ordered it online. Had to go for red to get that price but we liked it so that was fine!
It was meant to be delivered today but is currently half at my neighbours and half at our local click and collect at Halfords! I think that they only put the change to click and collect on some of the boxes 😂😂

dw23 · 18/07/2018 18:12

@AnotherOriginalUsername - thanks for the advice, I've spent most of the day in ambulatory care getting checked out, turns out it's probably a muscle tear or strain caused by my manual labour job because everything else is fine. Don't think I'm going back to work now cos it's just causing too much stress on my body. Sorry about your genetic test results, that sounds really stressful.

dw23 · 18/07/2018 18:15

@AnotherOriginalUsername - I've also bought the same pram as you, I couldn't resist, the deal was too good and I love the design and wanted a Cosatto anyways. I'm literally so excited for it to arrive Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 18/07/2018 20:30

@dw23 sounds painful but I'm glad it's nothing more serious!

Got my scan tomorrow. Equal parts excited to see baby again and terrified as usual!

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 10:57

@Another sounds really difficult for you. Good luck today! Hope it all goes perfectly.

@dw23 doesn't sound pleasant but glad you're OK. Is your sick pay decent? We're in the qualifying period now I think?

@ND348 thanks! The pioneer is a favourite along with the Joolz Day2 and the Mamas and Papas Ocarro Grin

Less than perfect but all ok so far.

Baby is still genderless, s/he sat with legs crossed the whole time with the umbilical cord between them so no idea on that front.

Also couldn't get views of heart, head and face due to positioning (despite emptying bladder, going for a walk and some wild and unnecessary tilting of the bed!) so going back next Thursday for attempt #2

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 11:23

@Another oh gosh! And they thought my baby was awkward! When I read your paragraph about the sex I was going to say "aw, maybe the baby was telling you to stick with your original decision!" But that's stressful having to go back after you've built yourself up to it once. I guess they're the main things they look at apart from the spine. Was everything else OK?

dw23 · 19/07/2018 11:44

@Emma198 I actually have no idea, I've never been on sick leave but talking to colleagues it seems decent I think. I'm really gutted it's come to this so early but there's not much I could be doing with these chest pains anyways.

@AnotherOriginalUsername - How long did they try for, my baby was completely curled up too and legs crossed which is why I don't fully trust they are a girl yet. They were willing to keep going for about 50 minutes to get all the measurements so we were lucky like that, although she did jiggle my stomach quite forcefully at one point Grin. Good luck for next week!

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 11:52

@DW23 yeah I had the probe jabbed right in and wiggled about at one point. Said to my husband that people seem to forget that we're still humans not just baby houses Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/07/2018 11:54

Scan was about half an hour (was pretty busy in there) and everything else was fine

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 12:19

Glad everything else was OK Grin

Anyone feeling kicks from the outside yet?

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/07/2018 12:45

Not from the outside, too fat for that!!

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 12:57

My husband's feeling put out that I've been feeling them for a while and I've seen and felt them on the outside but every time he comes near she stops 😂🙄

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/07/2018 13:11

I think that's fairly standard!

My husband has annoyed me with his attitude to the scan - his biggest concern is that we still don't know the sex rather than the fact that we don't know the important bits (especially with my cardiac history) are ok

hammeringinmyhead · 19/07/2018 13:19

My husband felt the first outside kick a couple of days ago. He only really started kicking about 21 weeks though (I'm 23 now).

Italianshark · 19/07/2018 13:38

Ive been feeling them for a few weeks but OH yet to feel it. Im 22w almost. I wouldn't say mine feel like kicks either, they are like intense wriggling feelings. Possible had one sudden tap?

OH is getting very impatient though as i keep saying "omg shes one one at the moment" and he just scowls haha

hellobaby18 · 19/07/2018 14:02

@AnotherOriginalUsername I had the same issue.... although I know the sex they couldn't get the head measurements. Really wanted to come away knowing everything was ok!

dw23 · 19/07/2018 14:06

My husband feels kicks all the time but I'm 24 weeks today so a bit further along. He can even feel them when we're lying next to each other so yeah they are pretty strong now. The kicks and movements definitely make up for all the stress and worry, it's an amazing feeling.

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 14:09

@Another Husbands eh Hmm mine has a big bug bear about the fact the scans only have my name in and his contribution isn't recognised. I'm one comment away from saying something out of order. My standard answer is IT'S A PICTURE OF THE INSIDE OF MY BODY YOU KNOB!!!!

I feel a very distinctive rolling feeling and then a punch. She does literally stop as soon as he tries to feel, I've even managed to catch a kick on video on my phone and he hasn't been able to feel 🙄😂

OP posts:
Italianshark · 19/07/2018 14:33

@Emma198 no way! Why is this not happening for me haha! Now I'm feeling impatient. Gonna spend some time tonight on my back tonight Wink haha and see if we can spot any punches! It would definitely make his day bless him!

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 14:57

I'd been sat on the side of the bed and lay back because I was shattered when I managed to catch it on my phone. It's just the odd one that's that strong.

@dw23 that's lovely :) I'm 22 weeks on Monday so hopefully he'll be feeling her soon and he can put his bottom lip away.

@Hello do you have to go again to finish scan too?
