Sorry, but I'm having a giggle at all the different reactions husbands have.... I feel lucky that mine has been so laid back about the pregnancy, I put that down to him being the oldest of 10, and growing up with his mum always being pregnant! I've only just started to feel baby move (21 weeks tomorrow). i mentioned last week I thought I'd felt movement, and his reaction (in an attempt to quell excitement on my part) was " it's still early, get excited when you definitely know..."

hellobaby18 · 19/07/2018 18:36

@Emma198 yes I have to go back in a week and a half! I have waited what feels like forever for the 20 week scan and now I have to wait almost another 2 weeks more. Fingers crossed everything will be fine though! x

shallen · 19/07/2018 19:45

Anyone got any recommendations for good maternity trousers or smart jeans? Come back from 2 weeks holiday and my bump has popped out so much I basically have nothing to wear to work next week, not sure I can get away with my shorts!

I'm thinking under the bump is probably better in this weather.
Ta.

hammeringinmyhead · 19/07/2018 20:20

The best I have found are ASOS Ridley under-bump because they have belt loops so you can keep them fastened under your belly. Every single other pair I have fall down!

Emma198 · 19/07/2018 20:23

@Shallen you're right, all my stuff is over bump and I am sweltering.

@shallen I’ve got a couple of really nice pairs from topshop. Also with belt loops which are essential!

shallen · 19/07/2018 22:15

Thanks @HungryN and @hammeringinmyhead I'll have a look.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/07/2018 17:06

Just done another 6 hour round trip to have my heart scanned and told all is fine (I could have told them that!). Why this can't be done at my local hospital I don't know!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/07/2018 21:33

Has anyone had the whooping cough vaccine yet? I've just remembered that I thought my midwife said I'd be offered it in the clinic after my 20 week scan...

hammeringinmyhead · 20/07/2018 22:06

I have. I had a letter at 19 weeks and booked in early last week when I was 22 weeks I think. I was in and out in 30 secs but it was quite achy!

hammeringinmyhead · 20/07/2018 22:08

Should say all my care has been at the birthing unit but the letter came from my GP's surgery so I went there for the jab.

Melaniesunflower · 20/07/2018 22:39

I got mine from the practice nurse the same day I had my 16 week midwife appointment. They'd mentioned it at my 12 week scan, and was lick enough to get an appointment the same time I was going to the surgery anyway

shallen · 20/07/2018 22:52

I have been wondering the same thing but totally forgot to ask my midwife about it last time I was there. What's the upper limit for when you are meant to have it?

EL332 · 21/07/2018 00:29

No one has mentioned it to me yet...

Has anyone been given their MATB 1 form for work yet?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/07/2018 00:53

MAT B1 is usually given at your 25 week midwife appointment but you can request it any time after your 20 week scan ( I was told if I need it to phone my GP surgery).

My care is a bit all over the place - my midwife sees me via my GP surgery but my antenatal care is via the "local" hospital 20 miles away. Whooping cough should be given 16-32 weeks according to NHS website. I may ask my GP surgery next week as I wouldn't want it at the same time as the flu vaccine as that usually makes my arm feel like it's going to drop off for a day or two!

HungryN · 21/07/2018 08:33

I had my whooping cough vaccine at around 16 weeks. My arm aches for about a week!

Italianshark · 21/07/2018 08:33

@EL332 I have mine, I had to request it though as I needed to hand it in for work before 25 weeks. Took a day my midwife just filled it out.

orangejuicer · 21/07/2018 09:35

Hi all. I'm a bit all over the shop at the moment and would love some reassurance. I had my 20 week scan at 19+5, all was good but they couldn't see everything so I went back yesterday at 21+2. All fine and we are team blue (well team all colours really but ykwim).
Anyway, sonographer had to really push down on me with me on my side to see everything. I am a bit worried that I seem to have had extra (tmi) discharge this morning. Is it possible it could be waters leaking? Please tell me I am being a paranoid FTM?

Scan itself was fine but notes for both scans say poor resolution due to maternal bmi so am feeling sorry for myself Sad Is it realistic to think I can do anything about my belly fat now?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/07/2018 10:14

@orangejuicer my notes say the same on all scans. For me it's not a surprise, I know I'm not super model! It's never been mentioned to me at my scans (wouldn't bother me if it was), just discretely put in the notes.

My BMI at booking was 39 and no one has mentioned it since (I think they're more concerned about my heart, I'm under several obstetricians for that anyway so the BMI thing is just kind of secondary I think). I mentioned it at my booking appt and my midwife said the most important thing is a healthy balanced diet, not worrying about weight at this stage. After all, there's plenty of time for that once baby is here!

Interestingly a friend of mine just had a (monster almost 10lb) baby. She put on 10lbs throughout the pregnancy and a week after the birth has weighed herself and has actually lost 21lbs.

Re: the discharge if you're worried, ask. That's what they're there for. I think the chance of it being amniotic fluid is incredibly unlikely but could indicate an infection or something. What I've been told throughout is if it's not what you know as normal, just ask.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/07/2018 10:15

Sorry - just to clarify - she's lost 21lbs off her pre pregnancy weight!

Italianshark · 21/07/2018 12:29

@orangejuicer i had similar at 18 weeks, I felt like I'd pissed myself and because I had cervical cells removed a year ago they were worried but my cervix is fine. From what they said to me, If your discharge is watery and you are filling up a pad every hour, then go to a&e. I also thought my mucus plug had come away but i was discharge. If it's brown/bloody then worry but normal coloured (sorry tmi) snotty looking stuff, don't panic x

Emma198 · 21/07/2018 16:21

My BMI was 31 at my booking in, and I've got a form for 12 weeks free slimming world off my midwife. I think perhaps more to stop me from uncontrollably piling it on during pregnancy, but I know people who were carrying extra weight before pregnancy who lost a lot during, you could see it on their faces and arms etc. Usually when they were carrying the weight in the first place due to the amount of wine they drank which of course they had to stop.

Glad everything was good with the baby, I wouldn't worry about the discharge but give them a call to ease your mind SmileSmile

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I've not had anything else since this morning so I'm just going to monitor for now and see how it goes but am feeling a bit better Smile

I've put on 5lbs so far, I have no way go judge if that's good or bad but I have an appt with the healthy eating clinic on Monday so will have a good chat to them then. Cake

And there was me thinking my tiredness and heartburn had abated....!

orangejuicer · 22/07/2018 14:13

Same here! Popped out to do a bit of shopping earlier (not a lot, air conditioned car) and I am shattered. And the heat is making me feel nauseous. Hope you feel better soon another.

On the plus side I think I started feeling movement yesterday.
