This is my 19 week bump

I started my pregnancy weighing 15st 3 and am now 14st 12, I'm under a consultant for raised BMI as well as risks associated with blood clots and blood pressure due to family history.

My body shape seems to have changed a lot over the past 5 months... and I'm starting to feel like I look pregnant 🤰

Emma198 · 05/07/2018 13:48

Aaw @EL332 ❤❤ This is mine. I weigh exactly the same but noticeably lost weight off my legs, arms and shoulders and put it all on my belly! I have been starving the last few days though so can't imagine the no weight gain will last for long.

I've been booked in for extra growth scans as a result of my BMI being on the high side at 31 and I'm seeing the consultant at those but they didn't seem concerned at all, blood pressure etc has been fine at all appointments and no other risk factors apart from BMI and being a first time Mum.

Baby has been very active last few days - a lot of movements which is lovely. Can't really feel from outside yet much to my husband's dismay!

Is anyone starting to think about buying cots, slings, baby monitors, clothes ect? It's my first pregnancy and I'm completly lost! There is so much choice, variations, brands.. what would be the essentials? do you have a list?

Emma198 · 05/07/2018 14:12

@Connected I am totally lost too.

I know i want a next to me cot but unsure which one and if I also want a Moses basket as I've heard some people say they used them all the time and others say they never got used.

I also know I wanted a baby monitor with movement sensor but then I read they're a waste of time!

Don't even get me started on bottles! I'm pretty certain I want to breast feed but also express so that I (hopefully) have a little more freedom but then I think I might be being quite naive! So many different bottles and kits.

I've got a lot of clothes first size and 0-3 from Asda. They've got so much lovely stuff that can all be tumbled which will come in handy with a November baby.

Had a look at slings and again overwhelmed!

@emma198
Not sure if you've had a chance to look but I've also been shopping for a next to me cot and seen them in shops! I found the SnuzPod you could slide your hands down the side of the mattress! Chicco next to me didn't fit a sleepyhead in (if you wanted one) and didn't look stable if that makes sense. The best I found was the tutti bambini cozee bedside crib! That was after shopping around twice!

The rest I'm useless with as this is my first however I'm planning on breastfeeding and have been advised Not to pump straight away, so won't be buying a pump or bottles until necessary incase it doesn't go to plan x

hammeringinmyhead · 05/07/2018 14:26

I'm getting a Tutti Bambini too. Beyond that I have no bloody clue about anything!

Kt2108 · 05/07/2018 14:29

Total basics but for plain vest and babygrows etc, I've found (after shopping and feeling every packet!) 😂 that TU @ Sainsbury's have the softest material and not £££ either. Asda are quite good too and have a good event on atm! I got 10 vest for £4 the other day. I got a snuggle bath as they come highly rated but apart from that I'm clueless too. All I have is vests socks bibs and a bath! Haha

Emma198 · 05/07/2018 15:00

Hhm hadn't really thought about a sleepyhead!

We haven't got a Sainsbury's 😭 but might some online xx

EL332 · 05/07/2018 15:04

I've got a few little bits of clothing people have made for us and I bought a nursing chair and footstool as it was in amazing condition for £20 on a local selling page...

I've started a list of everything I might need and will whittle it down to essentials first and then luxuries 💕

FarMack · 05/07/2018 15:14

We haven't bought a thing and I still don't look pregnant! Though my gran aunt has started knitting yellow and white cardigans & blankies 🙊
Also like the look of the tutti bambini, I think mothercare had them at a slightly cheaper price than elsewhere recently? Would like to have a Moses basket for during the day sleeps so we can be downstairs and keep the bedside cot just for night time.

Emma198 · 05/07/2018 15:16

The next to me ones aren't that big are they so you'd need another proper cot for bedroom, next to me and Moses basket is three beds! and then a pram that can be used as a carry cot too.

Did anyone else get the free baby box?

I did an online quiz thing and then just paid for postage...

It's like the Finnish baby box - it came with a mattress and sheets and is supposedly good for daytime sleeps 👍🏼

FarMack · 05/07/2018 16:00

Luckily my sister in law is giving us her big cot for when the baby is older. Her little girl is 2 so will be well finished with the cot come the time we need it. Very grateful for it as it's in perfect condition.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 05/07/2018 17:37

I had a very bizarre dream last night! I'd given birth, was at home and was breast feeding, all was going well...until I looked down and it was actually my dog 😱

Melaniesunflower · 05/07/2018 20:50

I'm not thinking about buying anything till we've moved (fingers crossed for speedy sale please!!!) I'm in Scotland so I'll get a baby box, my midwife said she'll send the form off at my next appointment at the end of July. I don't think I'll let the baby sleep in it though, I have 2 box loving cats ....,,

Italianshark · 05/07/2018 21:18

I've been doing some research on stuff ladies and if anyone is interested in getting a monitor with movement sensor, the angelcare one seems to be too for me. We are getting it as couldn't see a reason why not to 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I was all for the sleepy heads but my sisters adamant they're not good when it comes to SIDS?

Emma198 · 05/07/2018 21:44

Anglecare one does seem best. If you download bounty app there's 30% off.

Is everyone getting their Emma's Diary packs? I've just got a load of money off vouchers for Boots too from the Parenting club.

Hello everyone!

New to Mumsnet so just seen this thread, I'm pregnant with 1st baby, due 13th December so 17 weeks today!

orangejuicer · 06/07/2018 09:41

Hello all. Countdown to 20 wk scan on Monday. Absolutely terrified.

We are resolutely not buying anything until ~30 weeks.

How is everyone coping in the heat? I've not been too bad (fans at the ready) but have got swollen feet today Hmm

Welcome shallen

Hengine · 06/07/2018 10:28

20 week scan yesterday and everything looked as it should.
Such a relief,
Now I feel like I can start buying things and I don’t know where to start!

dw23 · 06/07/2018 12:23

@AnotherOriginalUsername I had a similar dream in which I was breastfeeding a fish 😮😰

I'm also in the haven't bought anything yet club! All I've picked up is a few babygros. I have had a lovely friend in work gift me some sleepsuits, hats, nappies, bibs, cloths and a Christmas outfit 😍 and her baby carrier from her sons so that was pretty amazing. My husband doesn't like to tempt fate so we're waiting a bit longer for big purchases. But I'm a super planner so it's making me anxious, good job this thread exists.

dw23 · 06/07/2018 12:26

@EL332 how do I get a free box, sounds amazing, I love a freebie.

ND348 · 06/07/2018 14:34

We've only got babygrows so far too. Think we moght pick up smaller bits and pieces post 20 week scan, but leave bigger thigs like pram etc until later unless we see a great offer anywhere

hammeringinmyhead · 06/07/2018 16:13

My mum keeps asking if we've chosen pram/nursery decor etc and I keep pointing out that we have over 4 months yet! I don't want to go and do it all now. We'd have to store it all and it's too hot to spend weekends in the car going to Mothercare and Ikea.
