hi ladies

kitkat - hello! i cant answer your question but i hope your fanjo gets left alone! that department will be getting plenty of attention in time to come!

hellos to everyone else.

mrsmcjnr - i hope your scan goes well today il keep popping on for news on you.

sorry to hear some of your dps are being well...typical males really?! why cant they be perfect just like us women eh?

i have booked my appointment with gp but not until next tuesday and even then thats only if i can get the time off work if not i have to wait until june 4th !

seaside have you booked yours? sorry about your thrush i know my mum used to swear by natural yogurt but i have no personal experience of it so cannot give any advice sorry hun!

me and dp brought ourselves some mountain bikes yesterday before we found out our happy news and now he is fretting saying i cant go biking because its "damaging" can anyone advise?

honeyapple · 21/05/2007 12:51

Iwillbe- I wouldnt worry about going cycling-so long as it is not TOO mountainous... Just cycle peacefully...
Mind you- in my first trimester I dont think I had the energy to do anything, let alone cycling ...
I think it's probably a bit tricky to cycle when you are about to drop though... balance issues...

Chooster · 21/05/2007 13:05

Hi all,

Iwillbe - Tricky one on the biking but I'd say its not advisable depending on how 'off road' you go. My DH and I used to do a lot of mountain biking, but once I became pregnant even cycling on roads made me nervous - mainly due to the thought of falling off. It'll be a great way of shifting baby weight after the bith though so dont sell them just yet!

Seaside / kitkat, I do empathise with the thoughts of trying to keep your lady garden closed to the public, but it'll probably all change after you've had your babies. After that you'll let anyone who asks take a look .

Seaside, I wouldn't worry about getting thrush early on. I've had thrush in all my pregnancies from really early on too. In fact in the past I've struggled to shift it. There are all sorts of tips on here including wierd things to put in your bath (I think I read garlic somewhere!?), but as I struggle to get rid of it, I stick with the good old medication / canestan. If you do go down that route, remember you can get it free on prescription.

hi to everyone else!!!! Congratulations to your friend babymad - At my sons bithday party one of my friends brought her 2 wk old daughter - I couldn't believe how small she was and she was an 8lb baby! - I guess I've just forgotten what it feels like to hold a newborn

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 21/05/2007 13:08

thanks honey and chooster. the reason we brought them is because we have started going camping so its mainly to cycle to the toilets (dp lazy idea) and to go on bike rides but on cycle paths only i wont be going cross country on them! plus wont have the energy for power cycling and long rides!

i think il take them with us next weekend and see how i get on.

is there a due in january thread? i couldnt find it for the life of me!

honeyapple · 21/05/2007 13:14

Ooooh i know what you mean Chooster about the old ladygarden becoming practically a public recreation area... but for now, Iwillbe and Seaside you can enjoy it at your own leisure...

My nappylady has just recommended Mother-ease one size... anyone a reusable nappy user? Any opinions? She has also suggested I get a trial pack of a few different ones first... will have to do that in the next month or so.

Just signed myself up for pre-natal yoga...OM...

Horrid rain again here .

Chooster · 21/05/2007 13:16

Sounds like you'll be fine then Iwillbe - nothing wrong with some gentle cycling to the toilet block!

Am thought I saw a due in new year thread on the antenatal section... I'll take a look now too - am curious!

Chooster · 21/05/2007 13:21

I contacted the nappylasy people too honeyapple. I can't remember what she recommended and can't now find the e-mail. I think it may have been tots bots. Edinburgh council do a scheme to try to encourage use of re-usables and give a free pack with different types in. I've asked for it but no joy yet. I started to look into it, but go a bit baffled by it all. I think I'll get some trial ones and just try them on chooster junior before I invest in getting the full packs.

seaside72 · 21/05/2007 13:46

honeyapple at prenantal yoga - I am a yoga fan! In fact am having a dilemma about it as I usually go to 3 or 4 classes a week, think I will have to cut down and also think I have to tell my teacher that I am pg as some poses are not recommended but I don't want everyone in my class to know Feeling very secretive and devious!

Iwillbe - am sure bikes will be fine for a few more months at least (I have no experience though as never even passed my cycling proficiency test at school !!) Give me a horse anyday

Thanks for the thrush reassurance Chooster

BTW - temp buds graduates I am not sure if any of your saw londonlotties post last week? - I have been thinking about here loads as we were old cycle buds and she was so helpful when I first joined MN. Anyway she has been having a fine time in Spain but unfortunately her and her DP have split up I don't think we will be hearing from her for a while. I shall miss her and always hoped to see her on this thread at some point

soooooooooooo much to say and soooooooooo little time so sorry for everyone i miss!

babymad - i know it sounds ridiculous cos i am only 21 wks but i have been getting BH too for the past couple of weeks! mainly when walking or over exerting myself and ALWAYS after sex!

whoever esked about cysts - was it PINKE - i was told i had a cyst on my ovary when they did my early scans and they said it was completely normal in pg and nothing to worry about. i had period like cramps too at the start so not sure if it was related.

seaside - i have heard of the whole natural yoghurt thing, but i have never known anyone to ACTUALLY use it!!! must be extremely messy!!!

kitkat - i agree with choosterchops that soon you wont care who sees your bits! half of Essex saw my bits when i was in labour first time round!

iwillbe - you have prob found it by now but the jan thread is called 'due at new year' or something similar!

fettle and bodders - do you want me to come round and have a word with your men for you? hope they are behaving themselves now.

and fettle - its nice to hear that someone else has the odd glass of wine. i KNOW its best to abstain completely but i have been allowing myself 1 or 2 units once or twice week! as per government guidlelines!!!! had a pint of lager and lime in the pub beer garden yesterday and felt like EVERYONE was looking at me dispprovingly!! it was gorgeous though! YUM!!

fettleandminifettle · 21/05/2007 18:58

Evening all - i've been sneakily catching up on the thread all through the day while at work in bored moments, but never had a chance to post, so consequently I've totally forgotten what's going on - so sorry if I miss anything.

Kitkat - hope appointment went well today. I have to say that even after DD and 2 mc, I still hate anyone looking "down there". Have a phobia about coils being fitted and will never give in to pressure to have one fitted and smear tests, I almost need to have a sedative to have them done!!

Greedy - one of my neighbours when pg with DD was a MW - not my own one, but she still reassured me at times. DH was working in Northern Ireland, so I was alone most of the time, so I spent many an evening with her and she said that the odd glass of wine was much better than the stress I was under at times - certainly relaxed me, I seem to remember.

DH was ok in the end last night - but he is out at nets now - hopefully he'll be home in time for storytime though!

Chooster - your camper van cake sounds great! Sounds delicious too!!! Talking of lady garden's how's yours? Or have I got you and Bodkin mixed up? Sorry - oops, if I have! Blame the hormones on my messed up brain!!

bodkin - hope your DH was better behaved today and apologetic. Mine was quite distraut when he realised quite how sad DD was - first thing she said to him this morning - "I was sad when you couldn't put me to bed last night and I cried lots!!" That made him feel guilty!

Honeyapple - your DH was joking wasn't he? I'm expecting so much more help from mine when this next one arrives!!

Firststar, you really are good about writing longs posts to everyone - wish I had the time and patience to do it, but hopefully everyone will know that I don't ignore them on purpose!

Iwillbe and seaside - good to see you both here too.

MrsMc - hope your scan went ok today.xxx

take care everyone

Evening!

Seaside- re yoga and being PG- I was advised by the yoga teacher that I couldnt come to her class until I was at least 14 wks PG... not having done any before though... but perhaps you might find you are advised to stop for a bit?

Greedy- I had a pathetic half a bitter shandy at the pub the other day (was yummy and hardly alcolhol at all... don't think I'd get away with a regular pint... would be p*ssed!

Re BH- my tummy goes hard quite a lot... I thought that was just baby changing position? I remember full on BH at the end of pg with DD- thought i was going into labour for 2 weeks.

Firststar- lovely long post! very impressed... My DP has not taken back his words regarding helping/not helping more... Unfortunatley he has never been a very helpful dad in terms of nappies/feeding/putting to bed. He does play with them a lot and does the odd bath...
He was SO bad at changing pooey nappies that I just told him not to bother... he kept wretching in front of DD... I thought he'd give her a complex about poo...
He can't even wipe her bum now! Obviously he would if I wasnt there... I'm too laid back for my own good!

honeyapple · 21/05/2007 19:04

Whoops .

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/05/2007 20:05

wow honeyapple! there is NO WAY i would ever consider no.3 if my dh wasn't a hands on dad. i think i would resent him too much if he just got to do all the fun stuff and i got all the pooey nappies. my dh has been covered in poo at various times from both of our kids and had my ds puke in his mouth and he STILL wants another one! you must be VERY laid back!

fettle - i HAVE to ask, have you been lurking on the oct thread? have you measured your bump size!!?? i was winning with the largest bump measurements and i was hoping you could match me!!! (some ladies didnt want to post their sizes, but from the ones who posted, i'm the fattest!) lucky old me hey!? ARE YOU AS FAT AS ME????? thats what i want to know!!

honeyapple · 21/05/2007 20:13

Sounds bad doesnt it Greedy! No- he's not totally hopeless.... TBH our relationship is a strange one, can't remember if I've mentioned our history...
so, DS is not his biological son... we got together when he was just 3... and then within 2 mths of dating, I had got PG with DD... so he kind of became a dad of 2 in a VERY short time. There was no time for me to work out what sort of dad he was going to be... or for him to decide either really. At the moment he is working blooming hard on a new career- self employed and commission only- so it's tough... No excuses, but he has his job, and I have mine...pooey nappies and all. When i said I wanted to get reusable nappies, he just shrugged... kind of "nothing to do with me" attitude. Ho hum!

I can't keep up with that Oct thread... too many people...

fettleandminifettle · 21/05/2007 21:19

Greedy - - what you saying about me?!!! You saying i'm fat!!! I'm pg don't you know!!! Have to say I tried with the Oct thread, but there are just too many people on there, and I still find it scary. But I'll go and have a look now, but i'll only share bump size on here - if you promise to too!!!

By SPD has definitely come back by the way - going to GP tomorrow, as next MW appointment not for 3 weeks and want to get into the obstetric physio system, but I'm going to ask about chiropracy (not sure that is the right word, but I can't think of it at the moment - my brain is definitely mush and my boss still wants to promote me!!). Must look at that website again to see if there is McTimoney one near where I work in Berkshire - would make it easier to go, if it was near work, I think.

xxx

Bodkin · 21/05/2007 23:19

Fettle - am I right in thinking that you live in Wiltshire but work in Berkshire? You can't be a million miles away from where I grew up then (Newbury)!

Too much to catch up on from today, so sorry if I miss people out. My brian is also mush - see look brian for gawdsake! But re having the odd drink - I am currently sipping at a hotchoc with a splash of Baileys in it!!! Gorgeous - the perfect good night tipple!

Seaside - you could try getting some acidophilus tablets from a health food shop (which is basically what is in live yoghurt) I think they would be safe to take while pg (but check first) and they will help to keep your system in balance a bit, and help prevent further attacks. It is grim though, thrush, you have my sympathy.

Honeyapple - I rate motherease one size. They're great and very easy to use. Tots bots are also good, but they do give babies enormous bottoms (as they are so lovely and fluffy) so getting clothes to fit is a problem... I used to get 3/4 length trousers in age 3-4 to fit my dd when she was 18 months!!!

Nesting instinct is well and truly in overdrive. I am totally manic at the moment (yes, that manic grin is actually what I look like!)

Thanks for reminding me how pregnant I am Firstar... So, am 31 wks and 32 wks on Sunday. Time is marching on .

Fettle - yes it was my lady bits that were being discussed a while ago. STILL got my veins poking out and the thrush has never properly gone.... Oh well.... I'm still waiting for the funds to come through from Bodders fund raising charity appeal. Are you pocketing the money Bodkin?

So, how are you measuring the bump Greedy, the girth or the vertical measurement the midwives do? DH has started to make sounds of an elephant walking when I move round the house so I reckon I may be near the top of the list.

Honeyapple - It sounds like you and DH have your own roles and at least he spends some good time playing with them. Your elder 2 are a bit older aren't they? My DH is good but he definately does less than me with DS and thats alwyas been the way it is, but he does loads of things around the house so it works out well.

Motherease sounds good - I think I'll take a look at those. I really want something thats not massive on him, so maybe tots bots aren't right... Oh, its a minefield

By the way, I've heard from MrsMc and the scan went well yesterday. I'd imagine she's fairly snowed under with work but I'm sure she'll be on soon to give the detail
