Getting pregnant after implant removal

I was just wondering about people’s experiences with contraceptive rod removal? I had my contraceptive rod removed on 25th April so two weeks yday. I had it removed as want to try for second baby. I haven’t had my period yet although I feel like I’m about to start it I don’t. I have been testing with ovulation sticks and it’s always saying negative. Tested daily apart from around 4 days in total and apart from day of removal. Was wondering how long it took people to get pregnant after rod removal and for their periods to return? I have been a bit run down from this rod removal something which hasn’t really happened before thanks!!

@Amyq726458 this is so lovely to read congrats again! I haven't taken any ovulation tests either for that reason, I think any sort of tracking will stress me out and probably not help overall. Good luck @SadieMcdadie1 fingers crossed for you 🙂

@Ducky96 I’m so glad it came so quick for you!!! Fingers crossed for your and your partner🥰 @Skw11 yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking. I don’t want to be disheartened all the time I just want to have it stress free. Thank you so much. You too 😘💛

@Ducky96
Your doing the right thing. I had 2 implants same as you but I never got a period on them both. 1 year after my implant was removed ive just found out im pregnant, hopefully you won't have to wait too long, good luck 😊

Amyq726458 · 12/08/2020 10:24

@Skw11
Thaanks and yeah its best not too, made me worry when I was taking them thats why I stopped them, remember theres always help out their if you worry about anything, good luck again 😊

Ducky96 · 12/08/2020 10:45

@Newyears2020 to get my period after hearing people waited months so I'm glad its came. I know things won't happen straight away but I'm so impatient!! Great hearing other people stories and thoughts on it all. Quite reassuring whilst planning such a big thing!! I hope you all get what you wish for and don't have to wait too long @Amyq726458 @SadieMcdadie1

SadieMcdadie1 · 12/08/2020 10:57

@Ducky96 I honestly get so excited thinking about it but i have to simmer down a bit. Just knowing that this is the start makes me so happy. I waited so long to even get my implant out and i felt like it was just blocking me. I got it out on the 11th and we've been unprotected since. Sounds daft but how long should i wait before i test if i don't get my period? I'm getting a slight pain on my left side, like a cramping so i've just assumed its coming soon. I'm going to need all the tips i can get lol :)

Skw11 · 12/08/2020 11:36

@SadieMcdadie1 ahh I feel the same! It's exciting to start and feels like a step in a great new direction 😊 I've been doing tests every so often mostly to keep a track in the absence of periods, every couple of months. I'm doing it so if I do get a positive I can be a bit more sure on dating it really (though I think some tests are super helpful with accurate dating!). Hope this helps 😊

SadieMcdadie1 · 12/08/2020 11:43

@Skw11
Oh i know its so so exciting!!
So you're testing every couple of months? that makes sense with the dating how far along you'd be. I never know when is too early to test!

Skw11 · 12/08/2020 12:01

@SadieMcdadie1 I am, yes - held out for a period each time and then thought ok best test to just confirm instead. I had a period early July so if I haven't had another one by end of August I'll test just to check. But if I had any sort of symptoms of course I'd test then too! 🤞

SadieMcdadie1 · 12/08/2020 12:09

okie doke that good to know. I may test at the end of the month just to check. I've got the HCG strip tests there so i know i can use them rather than waste expensive tests lol x

Amyq726458 · 12/08/2020 16:21

@Ducky96
My cramping just felt like a period and when I took the test it was positive, I was taking a test every 5 weeks, I got my implant out on 16th July last year and it has took me a year to fall pregnant

Ducky96 · 12/08/2020 17:10

@SadieMcdadie1 from what I've ready they say about 21 days after first unprotected sex then each week after that until.either a period arrives or get a positive. I know I'm the same its exciting knowing its possible now that the implant is out. My plan is to just not stress or think about it too much as that tends to have a negative impact on me when it comes to my body. Wishing you all the best!!
@Amyq726458 so you had a positive right at the start? Not so good it's taken so long. People are at completely different ends of the scale with some falling right away and others waiting forever. So you are now pregnant?

Amyq726458 · 12/08/2020 23:41

@Ducky96
Yes i found out on Wednesday morning that I'm pregnant, took a clear blue digital saying 2-3 weeks, i've been trying ever since I got it out last year in July and I'm 5 weeks pregnant 😊 🥰 since you need to add the conciving days on to, it took me 1 year to fall and I was starting to worry since I've only had 3 periods being of the implant.

Ducky96 · 13/08/2020 09:10

@Amyq726458 amazing congratulations! Must have been a great feeling. I bet that was a long year. I think it's the fear of not knowing what's happening with your body especially if you didn't have regular periods after coming off the implant. Since mines were so irregular on the implant I'm glad I've had my first one already so just need to wait and see what happens now. I've downloaded an app to start tracking my periods as obviously didn't have a regular pattern for the last 6 years and can't remember what it was like before the implant so will wait and see what my body does now and keep my fingers crossed!

Amyq726458 · 13/08/2020 09:46

@Ducky96
Thank you, yes its been a long year and was worrying thinking I won't be able to have children, thats why I was going to the doctors to get my bloods taken to see if there was anything wrong. Hopefully you wont have to wait too long😊

Ducky96 · 13/08/2020 10:05

@Amyq726458 yeah I'm hoping it doesn't take that long for me but unfortunately you can't control these things. What age are you if you don't mind me asking?

Amyq726458 · 13/08/2020 19:12

@Ducky96
No not at all im 23

Ducky96 · 13/08/2020 19:20

@Amyq726458 me too! 24 in November

Amyq726458 · 13/08/2020 23:14

@Ducky96
I think 24 is a good age to have a child, i turn 24 on the 23rd February 😁 would be lovely to hear that you find out your pregnant on your birthday (fingers cross) 🥰

Ducky96 · 14/08/2020 00:49

@Amyq726458 yeah I think it's a great age. Not that any age isn't right but I feel the time is right now. Aww that would be so special!! Thank you.

Amyq726458 · 14/08/2020 19:22

@Ducky96
Yep, well hopefully it will happen for you, Goodluck 😊

SadieMcdadie1 · 15/08/2020 19:48

Just wanted to update you guys since I got my implant out. So I got it out on the 10th and we’ve been unprotected ever since. I started getting cramps really bad on the night of 13th, 14th and now I’m on the 15th and getting light spotting/ bleeding so I’m assuming my period is here which tbh, either way I’m happy with because I can start tracking Smile

Skw11 · 15/08/2020 21:53

@SadieMcdadie1 best of luck! Hope you fall soon 😊 xxx

Ducky96 · 15/08/2020 22:22

@SadieMcdadie1 that's similar to what happened to me. Hope you get your period and as you said you can start tracking for there. That's me finished mine yesterday so just keeping an eye on everything going forward. @Amyq726458 thank you!! Best of luck with your pregnancy!!

SadieMcdadie1 · 16/08/2020 13:39

I’ll be completely honest I don’t quite know where to start. Anyone got any tips on trying this cycle? I know they normally say you typically ovulate 14 days before your next period. I know my cycle may not be the same now and it could take longer to conceive or i could be lucky and it could happen within the next couple of months.
Just any guidance wouldn’t be greatly appreciated 💛
