Getting pregnant after implant removal

I was just wondering about people’s experiences with contraceptive rod removal? I had my contraceptive rod removed on 25th April so two weeks yday. I had it removed as want to try for second baby. I haven’t had my period yet although I feel like I’m about to start it I don’t. I have been testing with ovulation sticks and it’s always saying negative. Tested daily apart from around 4 days in total and apart from day of removal. Was wondering how long it took people to get pregnant after rod removal and for their periods to return? I have been a bit run down from this rod removal something which hasn’t really happened before thanks!!

jadelouiselaird · 08/01/2020 10:36

I had my implant out on the 11th September and fell pregnant in October ..... I’ve not had a break from an Implant for 13 yrs 😳

Jamsis · 09/01/2020 11:14

Blackpinkinyiyrarea ....did you have your periods in between the 10 and a half weeks before you were cobfirmed pregnant..??

kqb95 · 09/01/2020 15:20

@jadelouiselaird I was due on the 20th of December, had some light spotting twice and have had nothing since x

jadelouiselaird · 09/01/2020 15:34

@kqb95 that could be a good sign have you done anymore tests?

Also was this your first period? They do say it can take up to 3 months for your periods cycle to get back to normal

Fingers crossed for you

kqb95 · 09/01/2020 16:28

Hi Everyone!

Not sure if anyone is even on here anymore but I am after some advice. I had my implant removed beginning on September 2019 as me and my partner wanted to try for a baby!! Exciting stuff! I have had periods since Iv had it removed but they are VERY irregular. I am currently on day 40+ of my cycle and no sign of a period, I have taken a test and I am not pregnant. I am starting to worry now as its been 8 months and I was hoping for my body to go back to normal! Any advice would be amazing as I cant really go to the doctors at the moment due to everything going on! xx

kqb95 · 29/04/2020 20:11

@quinners123 I am in a similar position.. I had mine out in August and had three regular periods, I then haven't had anything since! I am going to wait until it has been a year and go to the Drs x

Amyq726458 · 17/05/2020 20:06

Hi I'm new to all of this, I am in the same boat as you, I got my implant out on the 16th July 19 and i didn't get my period until 26th August since then I have had 3 periods I've got to say me taking seven seas trying for a baby have helped me get a periods, I'm taking ovulation test but always saying I'm not ovulating, I don't know what else I can do

kqb95 · 18/05/2020 08:04

@Amyq726458 oh I'll have to look into them! I'm only taking folic acid at the moment.. I am waiting until it has been a year (August) then I will go to the drs. :) x

Amyq726458 · 18/05/2020 19:16

Kqb95 seven seas trying for a baby have folic acid in them there good for starting your periods, im taking conceive plus ovulating too, I'm only on my first bottle on the ovulating capsules I'm just hoping it will work

Skw11 · 16/06/2020 16:27

Hi all, new here and had my implant out in January - it is quite a relief to see other people have had such varied experiences. I'm in the same frame of mind as @kqb95 - cracking on for a year (lol) then going to Dr's. Might try some ovulation tests for a month around autumn to see if I can learn anything about my cycle too. I hadn't thought about supplements other than FA, interesting. Following this thread with interest, it came up in Google and has helped calm me a little already 😊

Amyq726458 · 17/06/2020 07:27

@Skw11 if not try seven seas trying for a baby they have help me a little with my periods, i was on the implant for 6 years and since having it removed I've only had 4 periods, I hit 1 year on the 16th july so I will be thinking about going to doctors in September if I have conceived by then

Skw11 · 17/06/2020 17:39

@Amyq726458 thanks for the tip, I've just bought some! Sound worth a go for not too much money judging by some other reviews simar to yours😊

Amyq726458 · 17/06/2020 17:54

Yes it is very worrying but hopefully we both fall soon

SadieMcdadie1 · 08/07/2020 16:32

Hey girlies. I’ve been following this post the last couple of days and it’s both given me some comfort and also scared me a bit.

I’m getting my implant out (hopefully) this month. I’ve had it two years in august. My fiancé and I are planning on trying for kids when I get it out. Obviously from what I’ve gathered every woman’s body is different. Just hoping some of you ladies got the result you were looking for 💛

Skw11 · 08/07/2020 17:35

Hi @SadieMcdadie1 if it helps my first period since coming off finally came this week 😂 which I feel like is a good step in the right direction for me! I'd had them in much longer than you, six or seven years back to back, and it's taken 6 months for my period to come back. It really does sound like everyone's different from this thread doesn't it - I think some time for any 'buildup' of hormones to leave your body should be expected (have to confess I'm not up on the science as you can tell). Best of luck 😊

SadieMcdadie1 · 08/07/2020 17:45

@Skw11 I’m so glad for you!!!!
It really does sound like people have so many different experiences. I think I’m just so terrified that when I get my implant out I’ll be getting my hopes up for something to happen soon, but I want to be realistic you know? I truly hope you have some good news soon. That’s a long time to be on the implant.. BUT I’ve seen that so many woman snap back into fertility in the next six months. Sending baby dust for you!!😘
