Getting pregnant after implant removal

I was just wondering about people’s experiences with contraceptive rod removal? I had my contraceptive rod removed on 25th April so two weeks yday. I had it removed as want to try for second baby. I haven’t had my period yet although I feel like I’m about to start it I don’t. I have been testing with ovulation sticks and it’s always saying negative. Tested daily apart from around 4 days in total and apart from day of removal. Was wondering how long it took people to get pregnant after rod removal and for their periods to return? I have been a bit run down from this rod removal something which hasn’t really happened before thanks!!

@SadieMcdadie1 ahh thanks love, you too! Patience is most definitely a virtue. I started off really pessimistic to try and protect myself from disappointment but it got me down so I'm allowing myself to daydream now. Fingers crossed for us all 🤞

SadieMcdadie1 · 08/07/2020 17:59

Oh without a doubt we should be able to daydream. I’ve had dreams about kids I don’t know how many times. Even had a random woman that moved in downstairs randomly come out with “you’re going to have twins” and I was terrified. I have my fingers crossed for everyone on this post 😘

@SadieMcdadie1
I got mine put last July and it took 6 weeks for my period to return, ive only had 4 period and now I'm going to the doctors to get a blood test because it could be my thyroids and may need medicine to help to convince, the doctor told me that your periods are mental to return straight away and mine didn't, when you get yours taken out ask question like what will happen it your periods delayed. I didnt ask and I wish I did but Good luck

SadieMcdadie1 · 09/07/2020 13:19

@Amyq726458 so it took yours six weeks to return and have you had other problems with that there after? I’m sorry you weren’t told that stuff 😞 I’ll definitely be asking my doctor all the questions I can. I’m hoping it atleast comes back in a couple of months. I haven’t had a single proper period since I’ve been on the implant. Sometimes I get my pre-symptoms and some cramping but that’s about it. Thank youuuuuuuu💛

I got mine out and was pregnant after a single cycle. I had one period, I thought, but when they dated my pregnancy via US that put me conceiving prior to the period so possibly implantation bleeding, in which case I fell pregnant before even having a period. Good luck x

@Quinners123
I'm in the same boat as you, i can go 4 month without a period, i rang the doctor and he told me that he would be more worried if I hadn't had a period within the year ive had it removed. He asked me if I wanted bloods taking so they can see if its my thyroids

Quinners123 · 09/07/2020 15:30

@Amyq726458
Hi!

I have still had no luck so its been almost a year.
I had some luck I had a smear test and had to go to the hospital for a coloscopy (which turned out to be fine) but the doctor actual told me that she could tell I was ovulating there and then! So I went and got some ovulation sticks and they were positive, so thats a great sign that my body is still functioning. I then didnt have a period for almost 3 months and panicked again so rang the doctors for a consultation over the phone, she advised that she isnt concerned and that I am able to get pregnant without a period just take pregnancy tests every 3 weeks in case! xx

Skw11 · 09/07/2020 16:14

@Quinners123 yay for an ovulation! This is really useful to know, thanks for sharing and best of luck again 😊

Amyq726458 · 10/07/2020 08:04

Thats great, least your ovulating, I think my doctor wants to find out because I'm only 23 years old and I've been trying for a year, so hopefully they will be able to help me :)

Amyq726458 · 10/07/2020 08:10

@SadieMcdadie1
Yeah 6 weeks it took to come back, i was worried that it was taking so long, ive been trying for a year and I'm booked in to get my bloods taking to see if anything is wrong because my body hasn't went back to normal after 6 years, the doctor may think it cod be my thyroids and will only need medication to help me :) hopefully that is the case, he did say he would pass me onto a specialist so I'm glad there not just ignoring me but yeah definitely ask questions when you go.

Amyq726458 · 10/07/2020 08:12

@SadieMcdadie1
I've oy had 4 period within 12 month this is why my doctor wants to help me

SadieMcdadie1 · 10/07/2020 19:44

@Amyq726458 I’m so so glad you’re getting pointed in the right direction. There is a history of thyroid problems in my family (graves decease) so I can completely understand if they want to explore that route and I hope you get the outcome you want 💛💛

Amyq726458 · 10/07/2020 21:20

@SadieMcdadie1
I hope so too, My mam has got it so I know abit about it. I've been reading once you have the right medication for thyroids you will be able to conceive, so hopefully i will.

Amyq726458 · 25/07/2020 07:28

Just a quick update my thyroids are fine but need another blood test to check my progesterone, if its to low this is why I havent conceived yet and may need medication put my level right @

Skw11 · 25/07/2020 09:10

@Amyq726458 best of luck and thanks for sharing, hope you get the results nice and quick😊

SadieMcdadie1 · 11/08/2020 14:54

My goodness!!!! Congratulations!!💛🥰🥰 I just got my implant out yesterday. We’re not going to track ovulation and such right now. I’ll wait to see if my period comes and we’ll take it from there. So so glad for you and your partner!!!!!

Amyq726458 · 11/08/2020 17:53

@SadieMcdadie1
Thank you very much😊, i got my first period 6 weeks after i got my implant removed in july last year and just a tip you don't need a period to ovulate, so don't worry if it takes awhile. My last period was beginning of April and i didn't have a period since and now I'm 5 weeks pregnant. It has took me 12 months to fall pregnant, hopfully you will be too soon and won't have to wait so long, good luck and thank you again 🥰

SadieMcdadie1 · 11/08/2020 18:05

@Amyq726458 I’m so glad for you. See I know that and some people are lucky enough to fall pregnant straight away, but some take a long time after. I just hope I don’t take too long. How long after you got your implant out did you test for the first time? I just can’t believe the time is here to start trying. You must be so excited!!🥰

Amyq726458 · 11/08/2020 20:08

@SadieMcdadie1
I was crying with excitement 😁😍 when I was taking the ovulating test It was making me more worried so I stop taking them, with the pregnancy test i was taking 1 every 5 weeks, the last time I took a test before I found out was the 3rd july and it was negative, so i thought im not taking anymore until the doctor can see why its taking so long, then I woke up with sick in my mouth (not nice) and a little cramping but didn't think much of it, until my mam mentioned you may be pregnant and I said im not, then the next day I took a test and came up postive. At first I thought I had took the ovulating test i had to look twice 🤭🥰

SadieMcdadie1 · 11/08/2020 21:00

No wonder!! it is suchhhhh a blessing 🥰 I’m not going to take ovulation tests I’m just going to naturally see how things go and try not to stress. I wish you the absolute best in your pregnancy. That you’re both happy and healthy!!🥰🥰🥰

Ducky96 · 12/08/2020 03:23

I had my implant removed on the 5th August and just started my period yesterday. This was my second implant straight after the other so 6 years in total. This last 3 years with my second implant has been a nightmare. Rollercoaster of emotions and irregular periods. So happy to now have it gone and get back to normal. Me and my partner are now trying for a baby so I'm glad my period has arrived so quickly. Just going to let things happen naturally not planning on testing for ovulation or anything. Good luck to you all that are trying!
