@starryeyed I know it is so difficult but you can’t read into symptoms/ lack of symptoms. I’ve had four pregnancies, one DD, two recent missed miscarriages and this pregnancy and each one has had a very different set of symptoms. I think the symptom spotting is only significant if there is a change- ie. from a lot to nothing suddenly. I would book in with EPU, you unfortunately encountered someone who wasn’t sympathetic. In my experience these are the exceptions. Most of the people I have seen have been lovely.

Wellthisunexpected · 29/05/2018 22:38

That's bonkers @emswithme

DBoo · 30/05/2018 11:37

@starryeyedsnowgirl i cant believe a midwife of all people said that to you.

People don't get symptoms all the time. My dsil found out she was pregnant at 20 weeks when she felt the baby kick. 3rd dc and same sex as the previous two and she hadnt been having periods but had taken a test when it must have been too early and it was bfn so she just thought her periods had gone awol.

It happens. Having said that reading it has made me all paranoid now. Im anywhere between 5 - 5+2 i think and nothing really notable going on. Nipples hurt if i give them a good squeeze but look no different. I dont feel sick at all. I guess i probably am a bit more tired turning tv off just after 9 instead of closer to 11 but as i say nothing really notable. Trying to stay positive though.

Paranormalbouquet · 30/05/2018 11:40

@starryeyedsnowgirl I had no symptoms on my only successful pregnancy to date and lots with my MMC. This time I’m 10weeks and was symptom free Sunday/Monday but nauseous again today. It comes and goes.

Scan and harmony test tomorrow. Was hoping to have results before my stitch but it’s been brought forward to Friday this week. Although will be glad to have it over with! Very anxious about having open surgery in pregnancy but hopefully will prevent later complications.

DBoo · 30/05/2018 11:54

That's good to hear @Paranormalbouquet stop me worrying a little.

Is it a cervical stitch you are having?have you had one before? Hopefully it will be quite straight forward. Not the same but i remember having amnio with my son and really worrying about it but it was very straight forward.

Paranormalbouquet · 30/05/2018 11:57

I’m having it placed abdominally through a c section incision. Because my cervix is very damaged from my previous section. Means I have to deliver by c-section but I can live with that!

DBoo · 30/05/2018 12:19

Oh i didnt even know that could happen. Sounds like its the safest thing for you and baby going forward but i can see why you are worried. Hope it all goes well.

NoCatsHere · 30/05/2018 12:24

starryeyed what utter rubbish and how insensitive to say that to you. Both successful pregnancies I've had - both boys - totally symptom free, all the way to the end. Nothing to complain of, no sickness, no tiredness, no indigestion etc - zero. My mmc lots more systems and that ended. This one currently very on and off with a little tiredness and sickness. Every pregnancy is different.

I'd contact epu or local midwife explain previous history and hopefully you'll get someone more sympathetic this time.

Wellthisunexpected · 30/05/2018 15:23

I agree with others, the midwife was bonkers. My symptoms were through the roof with my MC, I was only 5/6 weeks but the nausea and sleepless nights were terrible. With DS it was nowhere near as bad.

mummyjl15 · 30/05/2018 15:34

I’m feeling so anxious today! Been getting mild cramps on and off since last night and can’t help but think it’s not a good thing...I baby must be having a bit of a growth spurt at the moment as I’ve been so hungry the last couple of days and it’s probably just everything stretching.

Why do we feel like we’re wasting the midwife/clinics time if we ring to ask about this kind of thing? I phoned the recurrent miscarriage clinic I’m currently being seen by and they said not to worry, it will just be stretching but if I want to go for a scan they can fit me in on Friday. Feel bad taking that appointment if I’m just being paranoid :-/

TheGrumpySquirrel · 30/05/2018 15:35

Haemoglobin all fine as of about a week ago (I called to check the results). I don't think it's that. I feel better today except for what feels like hayfever / a bad head cold. I think I just majorly overdid the exercise on Monday and body is on a big come down

FWIW, on symptoms I had loads with my MMC but NOTHING this pregnancy (28wks now, with a boy) except insatiable hungerGrin

TheGrumpySquirrel · 30/05/2018 15:36

Oh and sore boobs but they were very on and off

SoozC · 30/05/2018 16:04

I had a private scan yesterday, 9+2, heartbeat, all seemed fine.

Now, today, I've just had a small amount of pale red when I wiped and I'm worrying I'm getting cramping. I wasn't going to call anyone unless things got worse, but should I? I can't go through all this again. So scared.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 30/05/2018 16:13

Was the scan internal or external, sooz? An internal one can cause (completely harmless) spotting if they irritate the cervix. Either way I think call the midwife if you're worried - they'll almost certainly just reassure you if it's a small amount of blood and you had a good scan just yesterday, but I think ask them rather than worry about it alone. I'm really sorry you're having to go through this stress and worry.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 30/05/2018 16:14

And mummyjl I definitely don't think you should feel guilty for having the scan - they wouldn't have offered it if they didn't think it would do you good, even if that good is 'just' for your own mental health (which isn't 'just' at all - it's a big deal that should be taken seriously!). So you shouldn't feel that you're 'stealing' an appointment.

SoozC · 30/05/2018 16:45

Thanks, Lisa, it was external. I'm just fed up of having scares. A week of bleeding at six weeks and now spotting. Going to rest and see what happens, may call later if any more spotting or I get cramps.

DBoo · 30/05/2018 17:28

I know it probably doesnt help @SoozC but some people are just bleeders. No rhyme or reason. In my last pregnancy i bled on and off from six weeks. No cause was found they just said implantation.

So reassuring hearing from people with not many symptoms. Im sure mine have never kicked in until closer to 6 wks anyway but i still kp wondering where they are lol. I need to relax.

Wellthisunexpected · 30/05/2018 17:43

Palpitations are normal right? I think I remember having then last time but it seems such a long time ago!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 30/05/2018 17:44

Never had symptoms before 6wks @DBoo even with the pregnancy with lots of symptoms! I was so tired I couldn't lift my arms to dry my hair, had no appetite and was too anxious/nauseous to get the tube. This pregnancy - no energy dip, huge appetite, no sickness

DBoo · 30/05/2018 17:54

Thank you that is just what i need to hear. In my previous pregnancies i was never particularly ill anyway just felt sick but if i eat it tended to settle it a little i really am letting my mind run away with me and need to settle down.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 30/05/2018 18:29

@SoozC bleeding and spotting are just the worst. I had an examination last week and was told that I had cervical ectropion. Doesn’t mean that my brain down fall into my arse every time I see blood on the TP though.

Paranormalbouquet · 30/05/2018 18:36

Sooz I’ve had bleeding on and off too. I have a subchorionic haematoma. Hadn’t had any in over a week but it’s started again today. Have a scan booked tomorrow (for harmony) so fingers crossed there’s still a heartbeat. Especially as my stitch is booked for Friday.

starryeyedsnowgirl · 30/05/2018 19:49

Gosh thanks everyone for advice. Feeling much less anxious. I'll book into the midwife tomorrow and try to resume a positive outlook.

PumpkinPatch000 · 30/05/2018 19:51

@Sooz not sure if it will help at all but i'm 6+3 and i've had spotting for 5 days. I had an internal scan last week and everything is fine and touch wood it looks like today it may have finally stopped. I'm pretty sure the scan made the spotting worse where they had poked around.

For some re-assurance, it might be worth ringing your midwife or GP?

PumpkinPatch000 · 30/05/2018 19:54

@Paranormalbouquet good luck for your scan tomorrow and the harmony test! I've been looking into those and am thinking of booking to have one done at 9 weeks for some re-assurance.

I've also looked at the Panorama test and now can't decide which one to go for.... that seems to be more accurate but I hadn't heard of it before they mentioned it. Did you consider that one?
