Great news, snore!

Anxiousfeelings · 15/04/2018 12:58

That’s great news, snore! Thanks, nocats and Lisa for the advice. I agree that it helps to talk about it, but I don’t plan to tell anyone this time in RL, apart from OH, unless it gets past the loss dates. It just feels too close to the last one and I found it hard to have to tell people then.
I’ll give EPU a call on Monday and see about a scan date.....

Snorebrown · 15/04/2018 13:30

Thanks everyone. New anxiety today though :0( so we saw a heart beat and a kidney bean shaped embryo. Is it usual not to see arms and legs yet at 9 weeks?

voxnihili · 15/04/2018 14:17

Hi everyone.

I haven't been on this thread much but recognise lots of names from the TTC after miscarriage thread. I've made it to 22 weeks but having a very anxious day today. Probably not helped by having gone to a baby fair yesterday and buying loads of stuff so feel like I've completely tempted fate.

I've also not felt him/her move at all today and have seen loads of single magpies which is not helping (in the few days before my mc I saw loads of them.

I hate this.

voxnihili · 15/04/2018 14:19

Snore - mine looked like a prawn at 9 weeks. I couldn't work out what end was what - just became fixated on the heartbeat.

Snorebrown · 15/04/2018 14:28

Thank you vox i couldn't make out anything at all but yes a heartbeat :0)

Snorebrown · 15/04/2018 14:29

Im seeing loads of single magpies too vox. I think maybe its the same one following me :0)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 14:29

@voxnihili sorry to hear you are feeling so anxious - have you had your anomaly scan yet? I'm 22w tomorrow and feeling loads better post scan. Hugs x

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 14:41

Glad to hear positive scan news, and good luck for those in this week.

I've a 34 week scan later in the week and the anxiety comes and goes. I can't believe I'm so far in, but still can't visualise having a healthy baby and bringing it home.

I'm suffering with pretty bad anemia and have spent the last few weekends sleeping or lazing around. The house is suffering as a consequence, I really just have the energy to work then come home and sleep. Hoping the iron I've been prescribed takes effect quickly, any energy tips much appreciated!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 15:02

@Snorebrown this was my 8wk scan - just a prawn with a HB. In contrast the second pic is 10wks. Congratulations x

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 15:04

@zaalitje what's the scan for? You are so close now! I hope the iron kicks in soon x

Snorebrown · 15/04/2018 15:06

Thank you grumpy for sharing. Its the first external scan ive had. I think my (ahem) cushioning in the tummy area probably meant the picture seemed noticeably less clear

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 15:27

This 8wk one was transvaginal and you still can't see very much! Not surprised you didn't see a lot from an abdominal scan. 8 weeks & a heartbeat is a great milestone x

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 15:31

grumpy consultant requested scan, I have placenta previa so assume they're checking it's moved, also placenta function due to a couple reduced movements and my age 40+.

I'm happy to have the extra scans, gives that extra bit of reassurance, if only for a day or two.

I want baby here now, at this point it feels like better out than in.

voxnihili · 15/04/2018 15:38

@TheGrumpySquirrel - yes I’ve had my anomaly scan. It reassured me for a few days but now I’m back to worrying. I’m
hoping I’ll feel reassured once movements become more regular.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 15:41

Glad they are doing extra checks, hope it gives a bit of reassurance. Will you have a CS? I suppose if placenta has moved you won't have to. Is it your first baby?

I have to have extra scans towards the end because of previous pre term delivery. Very curious to see if this one has similar ideas or stays put! My DD arrived in a surprise 4 hour labour at just under 36wks (I was still at work).

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 15:42

@voxnihili did they tell you where placenta is at the scan? If it's anterior you might not feel much. Mine is anterior but this is my second baby so I have been feeling movements for a while - only frequent/regular in the last week though

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 15:58

If the placenta moves I'm undecided. They're threatening to induce between 39 & 40 weeks due to risk of placenta breaking down, I've heard a lot of induction stories, none positive, makes me wonder if Cs could be a better route.
DP has said he'll support my choice.

The extra scans give reassurance for a few days tops, then I'm back to worrying about the unknown, but at least I have those couple days :)

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 15:59

Did you have any idea your DD might appear early grumpy ?

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 16:06

Induction isn't always awful. It tends to be worse (allegedly, and makes sense) when baby isn't ready to come ie not engaged at all etc. Having said that, the relative calm of an ELCS would be great vs an induction that turns into EMCS

With my dd I had period like backache for a week and everyone told me to ignore it because it was my first baby and wouldn't come for weeks yet... then my waters broke without any warning and she was born 4 hours later!

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 16:21

I've friends that have had EMCS after 2 or 3 days induction, knackered and stressed and it's the only time amongst my friends I've known the BBQ tonges forceps be brought out.
That's without going into the tears etc.

Also I know elcs reduces the risk of birth injury or still birth v induction.

But I'm shit scared of having that needle shoved in my spine, and the recovery.

Ideally is have a natural home birth, but I know that's not going to happen.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 16:33

Well wait and see if placenta is still Previa - if not, could you ask for a HB as long as you didn't go overdue? With extra monitoring for placenta?

zaalitje · 15/04/2018 16:39

Realistically HB is probably risky, I live rurally and it's about an hour to the hospital. That's a long way if something goes wrong.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/04/2018 16:43

True - well best of luck, whatever you decide x

Snorebrown · 15/04/2018 17:19

Its 9 +1 today grumpy so perhaps thats why it was abdominal maybe?
