@kirinm did they see any evidence of what was causing the bleed at the scan? Some people do unfortunately bleed all the way through pregnancy for some reason. It's so disconcerting, and really not what you need when you're already feeling anxious anyway. I hope it eases soon

kirinm · 28/02/2018 10:46

@itsgoingtoofast they could see bleeding 'above my cervix' but didn't say much more than that. At my scan on Monday they didn't say anything. They did have to prod baby quite a bit as he / she wasn't getting into the right position so maybe that's done something to move the blood. Bleeding appears to have stopped for now. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that's it for now! I'm seeing a consultant on Friday so will ask about it again then.

MsJuniper · 28/02/2018 11:03

Oh @kirinm that's a stress you don't need and I'm sorry to hear your work are not likely to be supportive. Like others I've known people who've bled throughout pregnancy but of course it is going to be worry.

I'm waiting for my appt now. It's been quite instructive so far as I got a bit lost and now know where everything is in the hospital. It's such a maze here. Unfortunately I forgot my change of shoes so I am sitting here in my wellies and like most hospitals it is sweltering! We had a bit of snow but luckily roads ok and DS's school open. Hope it doesn't affect your scan @LisaSimpsonsbff.

@notparticularlypatient exactly a month today until my CS! Can't believe it.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 28/02/2018 11:05

So after panicking me that they could only see a sac and 'how sure are you about dates?', an internal was done and bubs is tucked waaay in the corner, with a strong heartbeat that the sonographer is very happy with... This clearly means nothing to me (because I'm not naive and we're only at 6+2) but at least it's a start.

AKP79 · 28/02/2018 11:12

That's great news Unicorns try to enjoy this moment and take each day as it comes.

MsJuniper · 28/02/2018 11:39

That's great @UnicornsandRainbows1 - I know it is a long way to go but today you are pregnant. I've always had internals before 8/9 weeks so it's a shame they worried you by trying abdo first.

My BP is normal and test results came back fine so it looks like I am ok and still on for 28/3 CS. I have to stay for a quick bit of monitoring and then can go.

Niketan · 28/02/2018 12:46

@Unicorns a great start - you must be pleased. Maybe you can allow yourself at least one day or two to relax, you know all is well today (I should really follow my own advice).

Slomi · 28/02/2018 12:49

Had my scan this morning, the lovely doc confirmed I'm 9 weeks and we saw the little bean moving like crazy. The doc also found a large cyst and a smaller bleed near the baby. She said not too be overly concerned but she did schedule us back in for two weeks time and prescribed me Cyclogest. Has anyone taken that before? I'm in two minds how to feel to be honest, half relieved, half nervous all over again. Congrats on your great scan @unicorns, very happy for you. I'm surprised they put you through that, they didn't attempt anything but an internal on me and I was very confident of being further on! xx

LisaSimpsonsbff · 28/02/2018 14:49

So pleased to hear good news for you both, unicorns and slomi. Mine's in another hour and a half, but we're just about to set off now because we have no idea how long it'll take us in the snow!

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/02/2018 15:24

Fab news unicorns Smile

I'm booked in for scan on the 14th, will be 6+4 and hadn't expected to see a hb but good to know it's possible. You must be so happy and relieved. Really pleased for you.

Do you have to drink a lot before early scans so they can try and abdominal one?

Have a safe journey Lisa, thinking of you.

Slomi · 28/02/2018 15:26

Good luck with your scan @lisa!

AKP79 · 28/02/2018 16:03

Thinking of you Lisa

LisaSimpsonsbff · 28/02/2018 17:11

Thanks so much for the good luck. Everything looked normal. We decided at the last minute to find out - it's a little boy! I still feel quite disbelieving of the whole thing, but am going to try and celebrate this as a big milestone reached before letting worry settle back in!

BertieBotts · 28/02/2018 17:37

They have never even tried an abdominal with me before 11 weeks! Even the 12 week one was internal which I thought was weird. First abdominal was 13 weeks.

Awww Lisa, that's great! So pleased for you :)

Amazing news @LisaSimpsonsbff and congratulations on your little boy. I hope you're able to start enjoying your pregnancy a bit more.

MsJuniper · 28/02/2018 17:51

Fantastic news @LisaSimpsonsbff - you must be so relieved they didn't cancel!

keeponrunning85 · 28/02/2018 17:51

Great news on all the scans the last few days ladies! And congrats on your little boy lisa!

Welcome ek78. I too have had the experience of a postive scan at 6 weeks only for the heartbeat to have stopped 2 weeks later. However, I did still have early scans this time round. I found them helpful in the sense of the next goalpost never being too far away and they did reassure me for a day or so. This time I waited until 8 weeks to have my first one so that if that one was ok I was always at the furthest point I'd ever got to.

Oh lisa, what wonderful news Grin

Star88 · 28/02/2018 19:15

Bfp!! Can't quite believe it. Only 4'1 but still. Trying to just chill and not to start overthinking x

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/02/2018 19:26

Big congratulations star! You must be over the moon.

I’m only 4+4. Very early days too.

Started losing my mind earlier with lower back pain and a blind panic. I always get back ache with af and I’m sure I had it when pregnant in the past, but it reminded me of my last mc. It was the back pain that told me it was happening and it all came flooding back. No tummy cramps so sure it’s nothing.

I need a calming mantra!

ek78 · 28/02/2018 20:11

Thanks @msjuniper and @lisasimpsonsbff I think i’ll try and get an appointment at 8 weeks with midwife and try for an early scan then. ‘Seeing the pregnancy for what it is’ is a very good way of putting it.
@unicornsandrainbows I am so pleased for you! That is excellent news.

ek78 · 28/02/2018 20:13

And great news on your scan @lisasimpsonsbff!

kirinm · 28/02/2018 20:43

@AnneLovesGilbert my miscarriages usually started with severe back ache and I had some seriously bad episodes at 4/5 and 6 weeks where I thought it must be a miscarriage but it turned out to be okay. I honestly think period type back ache is normal in the early weeks.

MsJuniper · 28/02/2018 20:50

It is one of the most unfair things that the symptoms of early pregnancy, periods and mc are all so similar.
