Can I ask you all for advice? I don’t want to be an over anxious pregnant person, but..!

I’ve got a mild fluey virus (fever, chesty cough, aches) but also D&V. I wouldn’t normally be too worried but I know that this combination can be a symptom of listeriosis. I’m worried that I exposed myself visiting a city farm last week (or eating ready meals!).
Should I call the community midwives and see if they want to do a blood test? I’m normally cautious about using nhs resources and I know listeriosis is rare, but it feels odd to have all this together. What would you do?

yellowfrontdoor · 26/02/2018 07:55

@kirinm good luck for the scan Smile

keeponrunning85 · 26/02/2018 08:00

Welcome star. Absolutely no advice about how to relax other than just try and take one day at a time.

I hope the scan goes well today kirin.

pies, I think I would just call them. It'll probably be the only way to put your mind at rest. I did a lot of stressing about toxoplasmosis after eating a slightly pink burger and my midwife very kindly agreed to do a blood test.

I am feeling very unsettled. I had a dream that I woke up and was bleeding. I've got a private scan booked for a week today. It feels like an age away but I felt I should try and go more than 2 weeks between scans. Now that the nausea has settled I feel the only indication I have that things might still be going ok is my ever increasing weight!

MsJuniper · 26/02/2018 09:38

@Lifeofpies if you've been to a farm then I'd ring and tell them, it is best to get it checked. Hopefully it's just a combination of the bugs going round - my mum had flu/gastro bugs consecutively but she said she'd spoken to several people who had them together.

GreyCloudsToday · 26/02/2018 09:44

I'm really sorry East End absolutely gutted for you.

Good luck for scans Kirin and Bluee. My 20w one is on Friday and I'm counting down the days. LisaSimpson yours must be this week too?

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Pies - I'm sure it's just a rotten bout of lurgy. Hope you're better soon and get the all clear for peace of mind.

Lifeofpies · 26/02/2018 10:05

Thanks so much. MW didn’t listen to me, just reeled off ways to keep hydrated and didn’t respond when I said I was worried about listeriosis. I’ll try to just not stress about it, I know there are some grim bugs going round. Baby has been quiet for the last few days, which I know is common at this stage and when poorly. Meh, just feeling a bit crappy and scared. If I can’t shake it I’ll call the GP.

Wishing you the very best for scans today, Bluee and Kirin, and those on the countdown for scans, Grey and Lisa

So sorry about the scare, yellow. Hope you’re doing ok today. And the dream, keepon - so so horrible.

kirinm · 26/02/2018 11:41

Only midway through as we need baby to move but so far so good. I'll get my nuchal results today too but there is a heartbeat and that was one of my main concerns!

TheMogget · 26/02/2018 12:02

Can I join? Had a miscarriage end of November at & weeks and just had a BFP (yay) l, 5 weeks tomorrow but feeling really anxious. Don't know if I can do it again if it doesn't work out this time.

I keep reading about people doing multiple pregnancy tests, is there anything in it or will I just drive myself mad?

Have sore boobs and starting to feel a bit bloated but had hat last time too...

Wish I was another 4 weeks on!

Niketan · 26/02/2018 13:20

@kirinm so pleased to hear all good so far.

I’m a bag of nerves about tomorrow even though I know what will be will be and I can’t change anything.

@TheMogget congratulations. On the multiple tests - so hard to say. I’ve done loads but honestly it hasn’t really helped much as it doesn’t tell you about the condition of the baby. Personally I think you just have to do what feels right for you and not judge yourself even if you feel slightly barmy. It’s so hard to stay calm. I find there are good days when I can put it to the back of my mind and take the advice of one week at a time/you can’t change the outcome etc. And then other days when I feel like a mad woman. I find that TV box sets or a really engaging but trashy book can be helpful to take my mind off it sometimes. And avoiding google...

kirinm · 26/02/2018 13:27

Baby all good. Measuring as thought. Low risk for downs, Edwards and Patau. Although it's very early looks like the palate is formed well - this was a particular concern for me as I take medication for my epilepsy which makes certain birth defects such as cleft palate more common.

Thankfully (?) as I've had a Lletz treatment before I get another scan at 16 weeks so not too long to wait. They didn't seem at all bothered by the bleeding.

@kirinm so glad your scan went well!
I'm just out of my scan also... Now booked in for induction next Tuesday - will be 37+5... It is a little big bit scary to think I could have our baby in my arms all being well in just over a week. I still can't quite believe it! Just want baby here safely at this point.
@Lifeofpies how far along are you? There are so many bugs going round atm I'm sure it is probably just one of them but if your worried could you get hospital to check you out for reassurance?

Smurf123 · 26/02/2018 14:12

Yellow sorry about the scares hopefully you are feeling a bit better today... If it helps I ended up at the hospital twice in the past week for reduced movements.. Second time by the time I spent 2 hours in the waiting room baby was bouncing about and having a grand old time, but the midwifes said it was still better I had come in and that they would much prefer you get checked out than be anxious or sit at home and worry...

GreyCloudsToday · 26/02/2018 17:32

How exciting Smurf!

keeponrunning85 · 26/02/2018 17:34

Great news on the scan kirin!

Good luck to everyone else who has scans this week. I think there's a fair few.

How exciting smurf! Home run now.

BertieBotts · 26/02/2018 18:36

I was at TK Maxx today and have bought just one thing which is totally extravagant and just for this baby. But Blush how could I resist?? I had to hide it really quickly in the bag before I blubbed everywhere in the shop!

Popping in to say hi Smile

Got my bfp last week.

Amazing to see lots of familiar names are healthy, happy and very pregnant.

That’s beautiful bertie 😍

BertieBotts · 26/02/2018 19:53

Great news @kirinm and fab photo! So pleased for you.

@Smurf123 that is super exciting, not long to go now. Are you prepared for the induction?

@BertieBotts that is so perfect - brings a tear to my eye too. I want to go to TKM now!

And @AnneLovesGilbert - amazing news! I am sure you are feeling all sorts of emotions at the moment. So pleased you have "popped in", hope it is more of a long term move Smile

yellowfrontdoor · 26/02/2018 20:03

@AnneLovesGilbert it's so lovely to see some of the old names I recognise getting their bfps. Congratulations! Thanks

@Smurf123 I need some support, I see that now. I've slipped back into a lot of familiar habits and routines to keep control over an event I cannot possibly hope to control! Oh god. I hate anxiety!
I'm so pleased all was well with you Thanks

MsJuniper · 26/02/2018 20:07

@yellowfrontdoor I hope you're ok. It can be so hard to manage anxiety but good that you have recognised the need to seek help. I think I probably need to join you to be honest. Wishing you lots of love and serenity in coming weeks Thanks

Slomi · 26/02/2018 20:26

Hi all, nervously joining. I'm 8-9 weeks I think. Unplanned, but myself and boyfriend are very happy. I lost a baby early on a few years ago and I have managed to drive myself demented the last three weeks that I will lose this one too. Going for an early scan in my local EPU on Wednesday, trying my best to stay positive and hopefully I'll be able to finally enjoy the pregnancy (aside from the 24/7 nausea and fatigue, haha). Sending lots of good vibes to all you lovely ladies xx

notparticularlypatient · 27/02/2018 08:16

Congrats to @kirinm on the good scan: So glad to hear that all is ok and that they didn't worry about the bleeding. Hope the next weeks and months go by entirely uneventful

Wow, @Smurf123, it must be so strange (and nice!) actually knowing when the baby will arrive. The best of luck!

Welcome @Slomi and @TheMogget. The first weeks are so scary when you've been through a loss. I think most of us embraced the uncertainty and allowed ourselves to worry. And took one day at the time (still do). Most likely all will be fine, although at least for me, knowing that didn't do much for the anxiety in the early days.

@AnneLovesGilbert so glad to see that you got your bfp! I remember you as a true star on the ttc after miscarriage board, always paying attention to others even when things were hard for you as well. Hope we all get to stay here until our babies are here!

I have my 20 week scan in a week, and it seems that despite my efforts to move it due to OH being away, there are no free slots so it's not possible. It means that I will have to go by myself. I'm a bit worried about that, I'm afraid that something will be wrong and I will feel very alone. At the same time I can't think of anyone else I would like to have there, my family lives in another city, and well, it feels like something I only want to share with OH anyway. Any thoughts?

Niketan · 27/02/2018 09:14

Hi All. Very quick scan update. Baby fine - all measurements bang on for the dates of 8+1 and heart beat of 171. So that was a relief. The catch is they found that I might have a slightly heart-shaped uterus and they found something called a synechial band which might have been caused due to scarring from my D&C. I asked about both and the doctor brushed me off and said it was nothing to worry about, but of course I am worried. So its ok news. I go back in 2 weeks for a follow up.

Hope everyone doing well!

BertieBotts · 27/02/2018 09:28

We'll hold your hand, notpatient!

Hello to new people. Fingers crossed for an uneventful 9 months for you all.

I'll take some tea, MrsJ - I can actually enjoy it again now :)

Thank you for the welcome Smile

Feels a bit tentative at the moment but had my HCG bloods back yesterday and all looks good, and been under the RMC since my MMC November 16, so got an appointment there tomorrow.

Is anyone on here on clexane/fragmin?
