Hi there,

Does anyone feel like a chat?

Age: 34
TTC: 11 months
Due: July 2018

I had vivid dreams in the two week wait. Since BFP I've just had mildly sensitive boobs.

My colleague has just announced his wife is pregnant, they've just had their first scan, I can't help but feel he's stolen my thunder a little bit!

BuffalotheGruffalo · 05/01/2018 15:12

Ah that's great LMX0, was this the 12 week scan? I'm getting very nervous for mine now. Only 10 days left to go but it's dragging.....

user1513517756 · 05/01/2018 16:43

I can't wait for my scan and I'm only 7 +1! Only 5 ish weeks to go!! got my first midwife appointment on Monday. Any tips for anything I need to bring / need to know?? So glad yours went well LMX0 x

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 16:51

@user1513517756 I had mine yesterday! You don't need to take anything. They do a urine and blood sample and give you the start of your documents and lots of leaflets. It was just lots of in-depth questions about your health, it's good to know about any health complications your parents had too, hope this helps :)

user1513517756 · 05/01/2018 17:26

Thank you that's really helpful! Xx

LilyWhit · 05/01/2018 17:46

Has anyone had any discolourment when you wipe ( sorry too much info) ??
Or suffered from brown discharge?
Xx

LMX0 · 05/01/2018 18:07

@Brettgirl yes dates thankfully
@BuffalotheGruffalo yes it was 😊

LMX0 · 05/01/2018 18:09

@user1513517756 thanks 😊
@LilyWhit is there much?

LilyWhit · 05/01/2018 18:12

Well I had loads of brown at 8 weeks but then had the scan at 8 weeks 3 days and all was fine. I’m 13 weeks today and just went for a wee and wiped and it was a bit discoloured? Now I’m worrying! X

Daphne33 · 05/01/2018 18:53

@Lilywhit
Perhaps you can ring your midwife, the emergency number given to u at booking appt or the EPU? I'm not sure, I did read on other threads that usually they'll be asked to monitor to see if such bleeds or discharge soaks a pad. I would contact the numbers given for more on what to do. Take care, think positive!

Also, ur earlier question abt what if the scan is past 13w+6. Well, i asked the same question today so thought I'll share the answer.
My midwife (who was very reassured and really lovely at today's first booking appt), says the 13w+6 mark is just for the Combined Test where they do the scan analysis for Down's, Edward and Patau. If at the scan, the gestation size turns out to be more than 13w+6, they will then switch to do the Quadruple Test scan which screens and analyses for the same chromosomal anomalies (but maybe just a different way of testing/analysing).
Hope this helps to reassure u at least abt tt bit for the "12wk" scan. (Mine is at 13w+3 so very close to the threshold too).

Hope all goes well for u. x

Heregoeseverything · 05/01/2018 19:27

@Lilywhit @Daphne33

Just to note that while they can perform an alternative test when it's too late for the combined test, the alternative test is markedly less successful in identifying issues (my midwife said something like 75% compared to 85% for the combined test). When my 12 week scan was booked too early for combined testing I went back to my midwife and raised the issue, and she had the date changed (even though it needed to be changed to just before Christmas).

That said, your scan date is much more likely to be accurate than your period date, @Lilywhit .

LMX0 · 07/01/2018 10:12

@LilyWhit hows things? Any more?

LilyWhit · 07/01/2018 10:16

LMXO
Sorry it’s been a full on weekend!
No it literally stopped that evening nothing since! So strange! Apparently it’s pretty normal could be from uterus stretching!
I’m so scared for the scan on Tuesday! God willing baby will be ok and I can start to enjoy this pregnancy.. Is anyone starting to show yet? Xx

Lphil93 · 07/01/2018 10:29

Had a bit of a scare this week guys... horrible shooting pins in my stomach and back by after a scan they've said it's just my body stretching... thank goodness! Here I am sporting my rather tubby 9 week bump!

How is everyone?!?

Heregoeseverything · 07/01/2018 12:44

Wow, decent bump @Lphil93 ! I've had the shooting pains in my abdomen too but was pretty sure they were round ligament pain, and a scan since has shown nothing wrong. I also have a sore back generally, I think it's from the joints relaxing or somesuch... though I think it usually starts more when you have an actual bump which I don't really have yet!

Lphil93 · 07/01/2018 15:07

@Heregoeseverything at first I thought it was all the extra food I'm eating but it's firm and causing back pain already despite the baby being no bigger than a prune!!!

Glad your scan was okay! Very scary times for all of us!x

K9pal7 · 07/01/2018 16:58

Did anyone have to wait for their midwife centre to call them? I went doctors and they said am around 8-9 weeks, they wrote on the paper to give to my reception so i didn't have to talk with only being 20. I thought they might have called already or is it me just being inpatient? I just wanna start my care and hopefully see that everything is okay and i can get a due date because i want to get everything and get organised with work too 🙈🙈

user1513517756 · 07/01/2018 17:23

K9PAL7 No I went to the doctors when I found out and the receptionist made a midwife appointment whilst I was there. I'd give them a call maybe?

K9pal7 · 07/01/2018 17:42

@user151357756 i did only go Thursday morning so that could be a reason? I just hope i don't sound unpatient but just need to know when my appointment is so i can sort it out with work

LilyWhit · 07/01/2018 17:52

@user151357756
My appointment with midwife came through the post within 3 working days. X

LMX0 · 07/01/2018 18:15

@LilyWhit at least it has stopped now and it prob is just things stretching awk im sure things will go great on tue and youll have to let us know how u get on!!
@Lphil93 it can be scary when u get strong pains but im glad everything is okay 😊 and awww look at your bump 💕
