Hi there,

Does anyone feel like a chat?

Age: 34
TTC: 11 months
Due: July 2018

I had vivid dreams in the two week wait. Since BFP I've just had mildly sensitive boobs.

My colleague has just announced his wife is pregnant, they've just had their first scan, I can't help but feel he's stolen my thunder a little bit!

@Brettgirl awww thats brilliant news!!!

Brettgirl · 03/01/2018 12:08

Thanks @Lmxo, now just need to convince myself all will be ok for my 12 week one (which will actually be 12+6) three weeks tomorrow xxx

LMX0 · 03/01/2018 13:17

@Brettgirl its hard not to worry though isnt it, ive my scan on Friday and im really excited but nervous at the same time!!

Brettgirl · 03/01/2018 13:57

Especially because the only symptom I seem to have is tiredness with a little bit of nausea! Good luck @lmxo, how many weeks are you now? Xxx

misshannah · 03/01/2018 14:31

@Brettgirl that is fantastic news! I wouldn't worry about the symptoms, everybody is different. I'm exactly the same as you though at the moment just - fatigue, a slight bit of nausea very occasionally and sore boobs.

I've had to tell HR today as I suffer with M.E. so on top of my normal tiredness, I've had the pregnancy tiredness to contend with and I really don't want to tell my manager. She is very judgmental and seems to think M.E. either isn't a real illness or i'm making it up... and this'll just be the icing on the cake.

LMX0 · 03/01/2018 18:42

@Brettgirl im 10 weeks 3 days i wouldnt worry about your symptoms i thought i would have been alot more tired & sick than i have esp compared to others i know that have been pregnant but i just count myself lucky
Thats a bit rude of her @misshannah i wouldn't worry & i wouldnt let her dull you happiness

Daphne33 · 03/01/2018 19:15

Seeing as that we do get quite anxious in between the NHS scans, has anyone got or is considering to get a home-use Doppler? (i.e. heartbeat monitor)
I've seen some sold online that women are using to track/listen to their baby's heartbeat as and when they need the assurance.

I expect to be more zen about this and just manage my own wondering abt the bub at this stage but just curious if anyone is using or going to buy one

Brettgirl · 03/01/2018 20:14

@daphne33 I've heard lots of professionals say don't get the home dopplers. Apparently they are not very reliable, especially in early pregnancy and unless you know what you are doing you are likely to get random sounds of your own blood moving round or air inside you. Worse, you might not be able to pick anything up and worry. I can't say I haven't been tempted but I'd just say approach with caution and do some research first xxx

LMX0 · 03/01/2018 20:22

@Daphne33 i had thought about one but apparently they are not recommended as they are not very reliable at picking up the heartbeat and causing worry to the parents to be

Hi all

I’m due July 13th when is everyone due? I’m 12 weeks and 6 days. My scan is going to be next Tuesday so I’ll be 13 weeks and 4 days. Do you think this is a bit late for a 12 week scan? I thought the point of them was to be during your 12th week! Xx

K9pal7 · 04/01/2018 17:28

Am 20 and just found out the other day. Doctors have said am approximately 8 weeks. Got to wait for midwives to call me. Think I'llget due about June/July. So scared food my 1st appointment.

Brettgirl · 04/01/2018 17:38

@lilywhit I think as long as it's before 14 weeks it's ok. I will be 13 weeks when I have mine (although I had a couple privately). Xxx

CrmbleBee · 04/01/2018 18:11

Hi all,

I'm 16+3, due date June 18th. Nice to meet you all! Any fellow Midlands-ers?

LMX0 · 04/01/2018 18:36

@LilyWhit welcome & congrats it think u can be taken for your scan anytime from 8 weeks ive mine tomorrow and ill only be 10 weeks 5 days
@K9pal7 congrats!!!

LMX0 · 04/01/2018 18:48

@CrmbleBee congrats!!!

CrmbleBee · 04/01/2018 18:56

Thanks, LMXO!

@LilyWhit I believe it can be anytime up to 13+6, otherwise the NT test doesn't work. I was bang on 13 weeks for mine, but they thought I'd be 12. If you are sure of your dates it should be fine.

Brettgirl · 04/01/2018 19:42

@lmxo good luck for tomorrow xxx

LMX0 · 04/01/2018 19:51

@Brettgirl thank you!! X

Daphne33 · 04/01/2018 20:11

@Brettgirl @LMX0
Thanks ladies for sharing your thoughts re doppler! Seems like no one really has it here in the UK. I'm told they were popular in the US but yes, really only more effective from Wk14. Was thinking they would be more popular here considering NHS does the 2nd scan only at 20wks.
(This is different from where I'm originally from where your care is usually by a ob-gyn and you get a scan every month/6wks.)

Good luck for your scan tomorrow, @LMX0! My first booking appt is tmr too, trying to prep questions..

@Lilywhit,
My first NHS "12 wk" scan is scheduled too at 13w+3 and as I understand it, as long as its before 14wks.
I'm currently 11w+2, due 25 July.

LilyWhit · 04/01/2018 20:17

Well I’m baffled in regards to my dates because going from the 1st day of my last period I should be 14 weeks and 3 days but I went for a private scan 5 weeks ago and they said I was 8 weeks and 3 days and to go off that date and not my period date. So god knows how far gone I am.
What will happen if I am more then 13 wks 6 days at the scan how will they do the test? Does anyone know? X

CrmbleBee · 04/01/2018 20:18

@Daphne33 I have a Doppler. You can get them from the baby aisle at TESCO for about £30 or online.

@LMXO good luck for tomorrow!

K9pal7 · 04/01/2018 20:21

@LMXO thank you 😊 so scared to tell my mum and dad. My partner is 46 so he's handling it a lot better than i thought. He already got a son. Am hopping to give him a daughter but he wants another boy

LMX0 · 04/01/2018 22:03

@K9pal7 to be honest im scared to tell my dad tomorrow even though im married!!! It prob will be a shock to them but it will wear off and sometimes people surprise you they could be waiting on it due to you OH age.....
@CrmbleBee is it any good? & thank you
@LilyWhit its only about a week off isnt it? Id go by the scan dates as you dont know when you are ovulating unless you where tracking it so thats why it can be a little off
@Daphne33 no they deffo dont seem as popular here & thank you hope your booking appointment goes well 😊

K9pal7 · 04/01/2018 22:28

@LMXO my sister is going to drop any minute with her baby that'll nice shock to my parents to out they'll be grandparents sooner than expected. That's one reason am waiting to have my 12 week scan to tell my family as i don't want my sister to think am stealing her thunder. I suppose the one nice thing we'll have children close together 😁

LMX0 · 04/01/2018 22:50

@K9pal7 that will be nice!! Are you and your sister close? Be nice for you to have her as support since she will have went through the same recently if that makes sense awk im sure they will be happy as long as your happy
