Hi there,

Does anyone feel like a chat?

Age: 34
TTC: 11 months
Due: July 2018

I had vivid dreams in the two week wait. Since BFP I've just had mildly sensitive boobs.

My colleague has just announced his wife is pregnant, they've just had their first scan, I can't help but feel he's stolen my thunder a little bit!

Ahh we are due date buddies! I know I have the same fear about Xmas. They will know straight away when I'm not drinking. I'm thinking of just telling my immediate family so I get the enjoyment of seeing their reaction. Otherwise I know they will work it out and we will all be avoiding the elephant in the room! What do you think you'll do??

LMX0 · 18/12/2017 15:56

@user1513517756 this feed is great!!! Its nice to know some ladies that are going through the same this around the same stage!!! I know some people have said they are planning on telling on xmas day you could do that? Im not telling family until my scan on the 5th of jan as i know our mums (first grandchild on both sides) will be excited and prob not be able to keep quite!! However i have told a few close friends

Brettgirl · 18/12/2017 16:17

Got my early scan on Wednesday, excited but also scared it's all about to come crashing down around me.
If all is ok we might visit my parents and tell them after. It will be a bit of a shock, their last grandchild was born 26 years ago!

Heregoeseverything · 18/12/2017 16:48

@peachesarenom I don't actually want to moan - I've found it all quite tolerable and am delighted to be pregnant.

But it is a bugbear of mine when women are told to just be happy about being pregnant - everyone experiences pregnancy differently, some aren't happy about it, some suffer terrible PND, some hyperemesis, some financial worries, some unsupportive partners... I just think women should be free to be honest during pregnancy rather than being told to be grateful and enjoy, it's not always that easy for everyone!

LMX0 · 18/12/2017 17:32

@Brettgirl im sure your sooo excited only 2 more sleeps!!!!

Brettgirl · 18/12/2017 19:07

@lmxo I don't feel as excited as I think I should, because I'm so scared they are going to tell me there is no baby and I've imagined it all! I'm just tired and run down and I think it's making me quite negative, I just need to keep hope xx

Brettgirl · 18/12/2017 19:07

But I must be a bit excited because I'm counting down the sleeps lol xxx

BuffalotheGruffalo · 18/12/2017 19:35

Hi, been following this thread and thought I'd join - been a long time since I've been on a thread group!. I'm 35 and this is my first pregnancy but my second baby, I have a nearly 3 yr old and found out a few weeks ago we were expecting after many years of no contraception and IVF/other procedures a long time ago that were unsuccessful.
It was a bit of a shock when I took a test out of annoyance with my body for my period being so late. The positive came up before I'd even put the lid back on the stick! We've had an early scan last week and saw a heartbeat, I'm now 8 weeks along but so very nervous that something will be wrong at 12 week scan. I don't think the worry will go until baby is in my arms to be honest. Realistically this is the only chance I'll have to be pregnant so I'm very anxious!

I don't feel too bad at the moment, on off nausea, sore boobs that seem ok one moment and awful the next, tired and stroppy and my cramps have just eased off this week. Each day is going very slowly at the moment!

LMX0 · 18/12/2017 22:08

@Brettgirl awk im sure deep down you are but it can be hard not to worry and think of anything bad that can happen but try not to stress too much
@BuffalotheGruffalo welcome and massive congrats!!! What a surprise for you and your DP im sure yous are both over the moon but it is totally understandable to be worried and stressed

peachesarenom · 18/12/2017 22:29

@ZoeRoma I think you win! I love sweet stuff!

@user1513517756 congratulations and welcome!

@LMX0 preggo pillows all sold out around here!

@Brettgirl how far along will you be at the scan? I was 6/7 weeks and managed to see a heart beat! I was super scared because I thought I was just going to a booking appt and was alone. Really didn't want bad news alone!

@BuffalotheGruffalo I'm so excited for you! Welcome! We're about the same age and also about the same week!

@peachesarenom I'll be 7+5 so hopefully all will be good. You poor thing, that's a bit naughty isn't it? Xx

peachesarenom · 18/12/2017 23:33

@Brettgirl I just decided I'm never going alone again!

@BuffalotheGruffalo Congratulations! What a lovely surprise for you!
@LMX0, @peachesarenom I appreciate my OH's sentiment, but why can't he feed me up with pistachio nuts and Pringles???

Think the pregnancy hormones are kicking in here. I got disproportionately annoyed with my OH for the big crime of... drinking tea instead of coming to bed lol

peachesarenom · 19/12/2017 07:23

@ZoeRoma what is he doing drinking tea when it's bed time???

OP posts:
ZoeRoma · 19/12/2017 07:57

@peachesarenom Quite! And I wanted cuddles :D

BuffalotheGruffalo · 19/12/2017 09:42

@ZoeRoma I can sympathise on the hormones. I git really angry with a man walking around dunelm a few weeks ago. He wasn't doing anything but I kept seeing him in every isle and wanted to punch him. Poor man did nothing wrong.

Thank you for all the welcomes :) feeling very sick and sorry for myself today. Trying to work up to taking the dog out for a walk and finish the Christmas shopping but it's not going very well so far.....

ZoeRoma · 19/12/2017 09:54

@BuffalotheGruffalo LOL! That's exactly how I felt - I knew I was being unreasonable, but I just couldn't stop myself asking my OH why it took him that long to drink a pot of tea!!!

Hope you feel a little better later.

theruffles · 19/12/2017 10:24

It's lovely to read other people's messages in this thread who are going through similar things! I've had nausea for a few weeks but the past few days have been quite awful. I don't want to moan, because we tried for so long to get pregnant, but hauling myself to work the past few days has felt a bit of a feat.

My OH thinks I'm not trying when it comes to eating Hmm. I'm certainly eating little and often as that really helps, but he seems to think, because I'm not eating a full portion at tea time or managing some of the things he's cooked, that I'm not trying. Some things I can't stomach at the moment but he doesn't seem to understand that. I'm eating plenty of fruit and veg and plain things, but meat is a huge no at the moment!

misshannah · 19/12/2017 11:01

@theruffles something is better than nothing and fruit/veg/plain is good stuff. My DP is poorly with the dreaded manflu at the moment so it feels like a bit of a role reversal.. I am starving and craving meat, specifically chicken of any sort. I'm not much of an eater normally so this is bizarre. Hoping it passes soon otherwise i'll be the size of a house.

BuffalotheGruffalo · 19/12/2017 11:06

My diet is awful at the moment. All I can stomach is salty food or chocolate. I eventually threw up this morning about an hr ago so feeling a bit better now. Off to tesco to stock up on some healthy food as it's in short supply in our house at the moment. Sent DS to nursery this morning with some cucumber and a pear as his healthy snack. He's really not going to be impressed at linch time!

BuffalotheGruffalo · 19/12/2017 11:07

Apologies for all my typos. I have fat fingers and a blank brain at the moment so they aren't going to get any better unfortunately!

theruffles · 19/12/2017 11:25

@misshannah that's my reasoning! I have been eating, just small portions and lots of fruit as that will stay down. I find what I can stomach changes from day to day - one evening a takeaway is fine, the next I can't look at chicken!

Hope your hunger pains pass soon!

ZoeRoma · 19/12/2017 11:36

I don't have nausea yet, but I was just saying to my OH that I don't see how I'm possibly going to be able to eat everything I'm supposed to eat. In order to get all the minerals and vitamins we need, we apparently need to be consuming mountains of food whilst not putting on more than 14kg during the entire pregnancy!!!

Mothermnd · 19/12/2017 11:42

@peterpanwendy I think my OHs family is the same, his parents married before having kids. I feel no shame whatsoever in my age or my situation as I know I'll be just as good of a mum than anyone in their 30s/40s so try not to stress! Always here for anyone needing a good chat! X
