I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Polli that’s what ondansetron did yo me. My digestive system from the stomach down.

That’s why I gave it up. Were you dehydrated?

Holy shit NeedsAsockamnesty that is bad. Congrats on your pregnancy and you are a braver woman than I. How many times has HG hit you?

I hope I go early too Dead bought the dreaded big fanjo pads today. Oh. Having a baby is oh so sexy. My advice take nibbles that keep. Banana chips coated if you prefer, big flapjacks I found some pretty decent ones in poundstretcher today and something still you like to drink. Ribena or the like. Labour can be a slog and little nibbles can be a life saver.

DeadDoorpost · 21/10/2017 21:48

Heck Ribena would kill me I haven't liked it for at least 10 years 😂 definitely taking this pineapple and orange squash with me though but totally unsure about snacks as I don't really like savoury things. It my be sweets and chocolates for me.

Mustang27 · 21/10/2017 22:44

Actually hate Ribena and vimto should have just said squash lol.

Yeah sweets and chocolate are good. Any thing you can nibble little bits of then go back to.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 22/10/2017 01:14

6 HG pregnancies mustang usually from around 7 weeks to delivery usually at 35 weeks (induced).

Obviously I’m hoping this one won’t be as bad but either way it will be my last
I was incredibly nervous about doing it all again but I have a decent care plan in place that is not reliant on HCP’s who have no clue about HG and have never met me.
The main issue I had with my last one was attempting to use the care plan to access injectables and not having it followed despite having a signed consultants letter attached to the care plan so a simple request for the specified medication usually resulted in ambulances being called then pushed from pillar to post and usually 17 hours later I still haven’t had it which then gets me admitted for days with everybody scratching their heads saying she should have stopped puking by now, because they just couldn’t understand that we need to stop it before I’m that bad and no 48 hours on a drip followed by a tablet that won’t stay down will not get rid of the key tones or make me feel better
Sorry for the mini rant there, I’m still cross about it

Bunnyfluffy · 22/10/2017 09:55

Flowers to you Needs sounds awful. Hope you are much less ill this time.

Bunnyfluffy · 22/10/2017 09:57

Which weeks were you ladies most sick? I’m 9+4 and hoping this will be the worst patch. I think I read hormone levels are highest right now.

Shehz21 · 22/10/2017 10:51

Bunny My worst were from 7-13 honestly but I do remember very clearly having such a horrendous time at 9-12 that I needed to be admitted 3x for couple of days only during 9-12..

Needs Sorry you are having to dread going through another HG nightmare but glad you have all a good care plan ahead of time.
We are all there for you, though you are a veteran, I'm sure you will always find comfort in having a good moan along with us :)

Shehz21 · 22/10/2017 10:54

Dead Wow that would be lucky to be early Shock
I'm sorry if I sound ignorant but I need to ask,do I take it from my own mum then about when I might go into labour?
She was a week overdue with both me and my brother so i guess I am in for a long long wait ...

seizethecuttlefish · 22/10/2017 11:01

Needs this is my second HG pregnancy. I'm in awe of you.
Bunny week 10 was really bad for me. To be fair, I'm not being sick as often but the nausea and retching are killing me. I really can't see how I'm going to have any sort of existence until I get that under control.
I was saying today that I can't tell if I'm hungry anymore. Feel like I'm forcing myself to eat and I'm swollen like a balloon, I think due to lactulose wind.
Hubby reminded me that today is our 6th wedding anniversary! I've completely lost track of time.

LucindaE · 22/10/2017 11:18

NeedsAsockamnesty My goodness - you have survivied SIX Hyperemesis pregnancies, suffering badly all the way through to the 35 week induction? You must indeed be a Super Hero. I hope it isn't as bad this time.
Bunnyfluffy Don't despair. Almost everyone finds that things improve a whole lot somewhere between 14-21 weeks, and even those who are unlucky enough to suffer throughout almost never suffer as badly as in the first tri. You are indeed going through the worst stage.

dillydollydarling · 22/10/2017 11:54

Needs I'm amazed by you. This is my second HG pregnancy and as much as I'd love more children, I'm not sure I can go through it again!

Having spent all of yesterday evening in hospital they finally let me leave about 11pm. In all fairness, I probably should have stayed in. Struggling to keep anything down again this morning. So miserable.

DeadDoorpost · 22/10/2017 12:01

Shehz I've read on a few places that you should go by your mum's pregnancies if this is your first, and then go by how your own pregnancy went with subsequent ones.
Bunny I was the most sick week 12 but from weeks 6-14 were when I was throwing up, even on the tablets. It's petered off now thankfully but very occasionally returns for a one-night-stand. Nausea returned though a few times despite the medication so I'm assuming that's when the hormone surges happened.
Seize Happy anniversary!
needs my mum went through 3/4 HG pregnancies but 6?!?! I take my hat off to you, good lady.
dilly hopefully it'll calm down soon for you. I'd go in as often as I could if I could go back to the early stages. I should have done, but never did...

DeadDoorpost · 22/10/2017 12:04

Oh Lucinda I forgot to say earlier this week Grin nutty woman turned up at my surprise baby shower on Tuesday (I posted a rant about it on the forum because I didn't want one but there we go). ANYWAY the women who organised it tried to make sure she wouldn't come but alas, her MIL told her about it so she rocked up. I'm now back home from church to avoid her because she AGAIN turned up when she doesn't usually... I've had to block her on FB because I swear she's going to try asking me again to be a surrogate. She just doesn't take a hint...

Mustang27 · 22/10/2017 12:07

Needs rant away that is bloody awful. Considering you are no novice at this and the care plan was there. You were definitely let down. 6 ShockI am in awe. I’m in my second and last here for sure.

Aww seize happy anniversary so sorry you feel so bloated it’s not a fun feeling.

Bunny you are likely in the worst of it I will keep everything crossed for you that it passes quickly.

Mustang27 · 22/10/2017 12:10

Dead she is sadistic as well as nuts.

DeadDoorpost · 22/10/2017 12:44

Mustang I don't doubt it. I've been dreaming about how to deal with her if she tries touching/holding/ taking BabyDoor when he's born. So far, and thankfully, I'm likely to give her the very clear warning you touch him and I'll put you on the floor with broken bones . So glad I actually could do that because let's face it; I'm 5'9", pretty strong and will have a lot of pent up anger to help me along. Oh, and have had some training in how to defend myself. I've got some rather meaty thighs from years of playing hockey.

Natsku · 22/10/2017 12:44

Bloody hell needs you're brave!!

9-12 weeks were my worst bunny especially week 9 and 10

Pollifilla · 22/10/2017 13:23

6 HG pregnancies!!! Flaming heck woman, you are incredible!!!

I use metaclop with my (animal) patients a lot and it's fab stuff. Just no idea what it is like to actually take... Maybe I'll get a chance to try soon!

Pollifilla · 22/10/2017 13:27

6 HG pregnancies!!! Flaming heck woman, you're incredible!!!

I use metaclop quite a lot with my (animal) patients and it's great stuff. Just don't know what it's like to actually take. Maybe I'll get to find out soon!

Mustang - I was dehdrated at admission (pretty badly apparently) and was being given ondansetron while being rehydrated, along with cyclizine. That's the combo I am still on now. I am not convinced I will ever poo again!

Pollifilla · 22/10/2017 13:30

Oh god - what a douche. Sorry for the double post - my phone is being ridiculous!

GummyGoddess · 22/10/2017 15:12

Hi, do you mind if I join? I was hospitalised on Friday evening and released Saturday afternoon with medication after about 24 hours of my body rejecting fluids. Most embarrassing was when I was finally admitted I then woke the entire ward up by vomiting non stop for ten minutes, doctor said my antiemetics had obviously worn off!

I feel horrendous but not sure if dh can take Monday off to look after us as he's taken Friday off and was also unwell recently. Would I feel better every day that I don't vomit or not really? I have a one year old and am due back at work in two weeks so I'm panicking a little!

DeadDoorpost · 22/10/2017 15:46

Gummy it really depends on how far along you are, what meds you're on, and how your body copes. The nausea can be even more debilitation than the vomiting.
Feel free to join us though! And don't worry about moaning to us, we're all going through the same hell.

Shehz21 · 22/10/2017 15:58

Happy Anniversary Seize

Welcome Gummy
Sorry you are having it rough but I would say if you are still in your 1st trimester, there isn't really much you can hope for except if your medecines are doing exceptionally well at controlling the N&V.
Being brutally honest here, sometimes being sick felt SO much better than living with the constant crippling nausea.

Bunnyfluffy · 22/10/2017 16:09

Can someone tell me that having a child is worth all this?

I was always pretty on the fence about having kids - I’m definitely not the earth mother type - but in the end DH and I decided to go for it as we didn’t see our entire lives without a family, if that makes sense.

But because my pregnancy has been so tough so far (with 31 weeks still to go) doubts are really creeping in Sad I feel like the whole thing is a huge mistake and I’ve ruined my life.

All I can think is potentially 30 more weeks of sickness then the horrors of a newborn .... all I feel is negative. I have no excitement or joy.

Mum gave me a lovely baby / pregnancy book and I’ve thrown it under my wardrobe as I can’t bear to look at it. Sad

DeadDoorpost · 22/10/2017 16:21

bunny I was adamant i didn't want children. Still not sure if I do, but at 36 weeks I can't exactly do much about it. i cried for weeks because of the sickness and everything I was going through. It has got better though. Each week has been a little bit easier, but weeks 8-12 were the hardest mentally. I remember telling DH that I didn't want to do it anymore, and that I couldn't do it anymore but after a good decent cry for like 3 days I was ok until the next week when it would happen again.
Unless you're extremely unlucky with the sickness, it should hopefully ease off and give you some respite in a few weeks (unless you get like miracle meds that work really well for you) and then you'll feel like you can do this.

never thought I'd be telling people to look for positives with children omg whats happened
