I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Horrible dreams again- sexual harassment and wars. Robert Downey Jr kissed my friend and not me.
Had a meltdown last night about people not letting me complain properly about how I feel about the pregnancy and how I don't feel like my feelings have been allowed to be acknowledged.

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough shehz
tiger sorry about the mmc but congratulations on being pregnant again!

Remembrance Sunday: I always feel sombre remembering what people sacrifced so that we live in civilisation today. My father was actually in World War II as a very young man - joined up in 1944 - so it has always been immediate to me. Goodness, having a father who remembered World War II must seem incredible to you young things! Wink
BlueSpottyTiger Welcome back. So glad for your happy news. Have you got pre-emptive meds arranged? Does your LO go to nursery? Hopefully you will be lucky, but as you say, unluckily people who've had it twice are most likely to suffer again.
People should not feel guilty about taking meds. Doctors are so careful these days that they wouldn't prescribe drugs unless they were proven safe and the chances of any side effects were outweighed by the dangers of dehydration on both mother and baby - which are very real.
Oklahoma How are you? You always give such good support, but must be really fed up.
I should think BlueButTrue and DeadDoorPost must be really
fed up too.

Gosh lucinda that does make it immediate. It's very humbling to think of how people suffered for us.
How is your DH?

door I feel a bit the same, people don't understand that I can be incredibly grateful to be pregnant but also hate it and be really low about it. Hugs to you.
I would have been gutted to be passed over by RDJ .

Oklahoma · 12/11/2017 13:24

Wow Lucinda both my grandfathers fought in WWII but my dad wasn’t even born!

Thanks for asking, I’m thoroughly fed up. I still have an awful cold and the snot and mucus are making the sickness loads worse. I’ve managed to lose 2kgs between weeks 32 and 38 despite all the drugs. Irregular contractions since Wednesday, same old boring combination of late pregnancy and HG really.

How’s your husband doing? Pleased to have his cast off?

justtheonethen · 12/11/2017 13:46

oklahoma that sounds miserable Sad

Natsku · 12/11/2017 14:01

Wow Lucinda! Not even my grandad was old enough to fight in WWII, though 3 of my great-uncles died fighting (in Lapland, against the Russians). It's not Remembrance day here, but Father's Day instead (DD forgot her card for OH at school though, silly girl).

Urgh Oklahoma sounds very unpleasant

Shehz21 · 12/11/2017 16:14

Massive congrats Bluetiger Hope this is a sticky baby and everything goes well with you this time round(hopefully you are already taking preemptive measures to delay the onset of HG).

Lucinda that does seem incredible to me! Hope your DH is feeling much better now.

Oklahama sorry you are feeling so rough yourself. It must be harder when you are perpetually waiting for labour to come on. Hope you get your freedom from HG and a wee healthy one sooner than later Smile

Waves to Dead and everyone else..

Natsku · 12/11/2017 16:19

Urgh bad nausea again. Just cooked a soup for dinner and now I can't eat it because the smell is making me so sick.

DeadDoorpost · 12/11/2017 16:55

Baby is 2/5ths engaged at least. Midwife appointment went well.

My great granddad used to be an engineer for the RAF so he used to work on the planes during the war. Thankfully he never had to fight as they needed him where he was but it's been 17 years since he died so I don't have many memories of him. His wife used to help out as well with the planes etc. She refused to send her daughters away despite living in a dockyard town. For them it's a time to remember how it was.

LucindaE · 12/11/2017 17:07

Thanks everyone for asking about OH's hand now the cast is off. This contraction-which-particularly-affects-those-of-Viking-genetics thing is a pest - his hand still has ot be splinted at night. We will have to see how it goes. Yes, my father was in on World War II as a youth, and had me in his thirties, and I am in my fifties, so he was of that age group.

DeadDoorPost That's fascinating about your grandmother helping with the planes. Which port was this?
Glad baby is getting engaged (I just typed 'enraged' by accident).

DeadDoorpost · 12/11/2017 19:24

Lucinda would have been Chatham Dockyard and they lived in Brompton at the time. Don't know how much great grandmother was involved but I know she used to help out. My uncle also used to fly the refueler planes for the RAF around the time of Iraq I believe but don't think he was near there. So it runs in the family with planes lol. Either way, we have a big history with army and other services so it's a big deal for us as well.
Your dad must have (had) some interesting stories if he ever told you any. My granddad never spoke of the Vietnam war he was part of. It was too traumatic for him.

Mustang27 · 12/11/2017 23:20

Hey everyone just dropping in not really caught up just skimmed as nausea and sickness is back to the beginning bad Sad also mini mustang has an infection that he now has antibiotics for. It’s not fun trying to get a 2yr old to take meds especially when they are grumpy and sore.

I just want to say everyone who had family that did anything in the WW1/2 is incredible and they will always have my thanks and gratitude. We may not be making the best decisions as a nation and country at the moment and with too many dangerous leaders in place around the world we kind of feel like we are teetering on the edge of something that will make these things immediate again for us. It really is even more important than ever to look at the past and try and not make the same mistakes all over again and remind ourselves that these are not lives we need to lose again.

Sorry a bit deep but my grandfather was in WW2 and I have very vivid memories of the stories he would tell. Truly harrowing for anyone to endure. My partners grandfather was also clinical psychologist who had access to some of the top SS criminals just after the war and listened first hand how evil these men were.

Natsku · 13/11/2017 07:10

Very important that the same mistakes aren't made again but it sadly looks like politicians are hell bent on making those same mistakes.

A friend's grandad was an SS officer so it's quite conflicting to think about. His brigade was one of the Nordic ones, and refused to do the war crimes that the other brigades did so I don't think he was so evil. Of course the Finns in general fought alongside the Nazis until the Lapland war, mostly just in Finland but many also joined in the other arenas which must now be shameful and upsetting for their families to think about. One odd fact, there were actually a few Finnish Jews that also fought alongside the Nazis (just in Finland for obvious reasons) that were awarded the Iron Cross (they refused obviously), now that's weird to think about.

DeadDoorpost · 13/11/2017 08:07

So I had some period type pains last night and some lower back pain and what do you know... they've disappeared and I'm fed up of waiting I am so done and was actually excited to maybe finally be rid of all this stupid sickness.

3 hours sleep is killing me though. I'm going back to hibernate.

Natsku · 13/11/2017 08:36

Urgh that sucks Dead hope you get some sleep now.

I'm mostly over my cold now so slept well last night but I have to be really careful not to start coughing (as then it starts a coughing fit I can't stop) or laugh as both hurt my chest and throat so much it makes me cry. I can't breathe in deep enough to take my inhaler either because it hurts my chest too much.

Poppet1985 · 13/11/2017 10:01

Hi All, sorry I've not been on here for a couple of weeks. I've not been feeling great and felt I went backwards slightly. But now I'm 16 weeks hoping things get better.

I'm finding that I feel a lot better when I am sat in bed and don't move but as soon as I use any energy I go down hill... Very frustrating!

I managed to go to a family lunch on Saturday. I sat down the whole time and talked a little but even that wiped me out. I slept for 16 hours afterwards and woke up vomiting. At least I got out of the house though... snall steps 😃

Welcome to all the new people. There are too many posts for me to read... sorry. I have skimmed them and hope everyone is doing ok.

anewjourney · 13/11/2017 10:52

Can I join this thread please? I had HG in a first pregnancy that didn’t go to term. I tried Ondansetron (Zofran), and Stemetil and had a terrible experience. I’m not sure which one it was but I ended up having a dystonic reaction which gave me bad PTSD for a while and am terrified to take meds again in case it happens. Was in and out of hospital to get IV fluids after having to battle my way there via ignorant and rude nurses and doctors.

Is anyone on the god awful HG journey and doing so without meds? I’m in the TWW and am so scared of what is to come again.

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 11:22

poppet hurrah for leaving the house, hopefully you will start having some good days soon. I am 23 weeks though and still suffer for every time I go out.

anewjourney welcome, I hope you won't need us but it does seem likely that you might. A dystonic reaction sounds scary, often associated with metoclopromide I think? I wouldn't have been able to manage mentally without drugs but I can see why you are reluctant. Is it worth talking to your gp to see if there are any that would be safer for you? Early use of an antihistamine and vitamin v6 for example?

dead hope you have a good sleep!

natsku glad your cold is gone! Sorry about chest though. Ouch.

mustang Sad poor you and mini.

Struggling a bit today so not got out of bed yet.
Had some sad news as well, my uncle died last night. Whilst he had various health issues it was still a shock as he was only 50. Feeling sad.

Natsku · 13/11/2017 11:45

just sorry to hear about your uncle :(

anewjourney seconding what just said about talking to your doctor about what might be suitable like an antihistimine with B6

anewjourney · 13/11/2017 11:49

Thank you JustOne. I really hope I can use this thread as support if and when I get my BFP. Providing I can stomach to look at my phone...

I have been taking folic acid, B6 and ginger capsules. Doubt I’ll be able to swallow them once pregnant but I need to do something proactive! Think I will call local preg. ward also and see what the deal is for going in for fluids too. Was a nightmare having to go through A and E last time.

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 12:01

anew would you consider an antihistamine like cyclizine to add in once pregnant? There is good evidence that it means the HG doesn't take hold so you might avoid being so bad this time.
I have to go in via a&e and it's hell.

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 12:01

natsku thank you.

anewjourney · 13/11/2017 12:09

JustOne I actually had Cyclizine last time intravenously too. Made me feel high as a kite! I’ve read reports of dystonia from that too so I think it checks it off the list for me as well. Feel like such a baby but it was so bloody painful and scary that I just do not want to go through that again.

Was four years ago but still remember exactly how I felt sitting in A and E in a wheelchair, gagging, vomiting and spitting out saliva every 5 seconds as we waited five hours at midnight to be seen. Think I scarred everyone in that waiting room for life!

So feel for everyone going through this. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy

justtheonethen · 13/11/2017 12:17

Are the risks the same for promethazine?
I have actually found a&e see me asap and get me on a drip so can't complain about that, it's just a miserable extra step.
