I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

spearo Sorry it must be really hard at 26 weeks feeling like this :(
If I stop my medecines, I go back to my early weeks of dey wretching, throwing up and constant nausea. Maybe try to go back to your medz if you have stopped?

Batman So glad you are feeling better now and the ondansetron is working for you. My GP did not want to give me ondansetron at any cost Grr.. but can't complain as avomine is working pretty well for me. I do think though the ondansetron would be better during the early weeks until 14 ish weeks something when NOTHING was working for me. I see loads of women with hyperemesis finding relief from it.

Bunny I was unfortunately among those who found respite by "encouraging" the vomit. Unhealthy I know but the 15 minutes of relief I had after being sick was SO worth it for me. It was the only time during the day that I felt HG free.

Shehz21 · 18/10/2017 16:27

Mustang I am the most unhealthy "young" person you might come across. My mom at 52 is more healthy than me and she could be pregnant now and be full of energy while I am here having back pain at 18 weeks. I don't know what will happen to me when I will be in 3rd trimester. Prolly gonna attend my baby shower in a wheelchair.

spearo21 · 18/10/2017 16:32

Yes I'm still taking my medication. I have Ondansetron, Stemetil and Cyclizine. Just so fed up. Feel like a broken record. I can't wait to just get home and go straight to bed :(

Bunnyfluffy · 18/10/2017 16:35

Flowers to everyone.

I’m going to the doctor in an hour. The sickness is getting worse. I’m not weeing so worried I’m dehydrating.

This is miserable

Bunnyfluffy · 18/10/2017 16:37

Why are they reluctant to prescribe ondanestron ?
Is it because it’s expensive?

seizethecuttlefish · 18/10/2017 16:52

Bunny I actually find myself saying, I just wish I could be sick. Sometimes I'll be retching and gagging all day and only throwing up gives me any relief.
Right ladies, I need a boot up the bum (as my mum would say). Ondansetron has calmed the sickness down (I was a wee bit sick this morning but nothing compared to my usual spectacular style). I still feel rotten. Like I am constantly on the verge of being sick. My stomach is really sore and I am having to force myself to drink. There is nothing I really want and water is the only thing I can stomach. I actually feel full of wind (tmi ?). I'm at my best lying down. If I sit up I feel queasy and if I stand I feel rotten. My smell aversion is back. Thought I was rid of it but apparently not. Give me a wee kick please. Tell me to get over myself. I have to call the dr on Friday, I don't see myself going back to work on Monday. I had a good day on Saturday and feel like I've been paying for it, ever since!

DeadDoorpost · 18/10/2017 17:35

JonSnow ahah you assume im young 😂😂😂 (i am... im 23) also those core muscles only seem to have appeared since being pregnant. Wouldn't have been able to do that beforehand...

spearo I'm 35 weeks and still losing weight, and still having problems with my appetite. You are not alone. Flowers
bunny? Think it's you... with the vomiting I didn't have a choice. I had a 7 second warning and I'd have to make sure i could throw up in something or risk getting it everywhere. It's probably better to just help it along and brush your teeth afterwards

Natsku · 18/10/2017 17:58

Baby started moving again once I was lying down in bed thankfully.

Hope the doctor helps Bunny

GTT test tomorrow, fingers crossed I won't puke it up. Have to go straight to work afterwards so don't want to be feeling ill for that (and have to take poor DD with me as its half term but I forgot half term was this week so I didn't make arrangements, oops!)

Bunnyfluffy · 18/10/2017 19:05

Doc gave me ondanestron (if that’s how you spell it). If was a male doctor this time but again a really lovely understanding doctor - we have lovely doctors here.

I couldn’t produce a urine sample so have to go back tomorrow morning

Can anyone link to the keto-sticks I should buy so I don’t have to trouble the doctors all the time?

LucindaE · 18/10/2017 20:09

JonSnow and others - ridiicuous typo, and glad to give everyone a laugh. I don't even watch the series!
Pollifilla Welcome. Do invest in some kesostix in case of dehydration, available from any chemists, or online. That is more severe than normal m/s, and it is certainly worth inquiring about meds from a doctor. There are several safe ones. It is very important to get a good anti acid, too, like Ranitidine or Omparzole. Some drinks and foods people have found good on here - flat full sugar coke, the juice of tinned fruit, ice lollies, ice cubes, soda water, Elderflower water, Dr Pepper, Lucoazade, orange squash, fizzy orange and sips of chocolate milkshake, maybe soya. For foods, tinned fruit, nibbles of crisps, maybe salt and vinegar, cuppa soup, jelly, cheap ice cream, slices of melon and now a recommendation of mango.
Fluffybunny Glad you have got Ondansetron. Did he give you a laxative, too, because you will need one, unfortunately? On kesostix, you can get them from any chemists or various places online, almost certainly Amazon.
spearo Much sympathy. I do feel for you. I hope you are resting now. It is so hard on those who suffer throughout, particularly when they are on a combination of meds.I daren't ask my usual anti acid question - I'm sure you are on one. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Natsku Best of luck with GTI test. Glad baby is on the move again.
Apologies to anyone overlooked.

I am resting up. Still feeling awful but at least I don't have to move now!

Can I be added to the due dates list? 24th Jan for me x

Shehz21 · 18/10/2017 20:41

Bunny yay on getting the ondansetron! I am the only one with an unsympathetic gp apparently who is anti-ondansetron for whatever reason Angry
When is your due date btw?

Natsku · 19/10/2017 07:22

Doing the test now. Drink was lemon flavour, not as bad as I feared but pretty hard to get it all down (two full cup fulls) and my throat feels all acidy and yuck now and feel quite sick but managing to keep it down. Soon time for the second blood test. Poor DD is bored but it makes me even more sick to turn my head or talk. Baby is kicking like crazy though, must be the sugar!

Natsku · 19/10/2017 09:03

And finished. Started to feel less sick in the second hour which was good. So not as bad as I feared really.

seizethecuttlefish · 19/10/2017 10:13

Nat well done. I'll already dreading mine and it's ages away.
Thought I'd share today's success. I brushed my teeth and didn't vomit! Toothpaste and everything. I'm doing a celebration dance, in my head.

Bunnyfluffy · 19/10/2017 10:43

I thought my due date was 20 May based on dates but at early scan she said 24 May

Natsku · 19/10/2017 11:28

Good reason to celebrate! So glad teeth brushing hasn't been an issue for me, feel yuck if I don't brush.

LucindaE · 19/10/2017 11:43

Natsku Well done on getting through that test! That lemon stuff sounds much worse than Lucozade - and to seize on tooth cleaning. I always used kids' strawberry toothpaste and a little toothbrush for kids - it made all the difference.
Bunnyfluffy and Spearo21 added you to the list. I'll go with the earlier date!
Shehz21 I wonder if it is expense that makes the GP reluctant to prescribe Ondansetron? But it isn't as expensive as it was.

I think I have my Glucose test next week... What does it entail? I got one when I was pregnant first time but that's like 9 years ago now Shock So i can't remember what happened lol I read online this morning you're not supposed to eat or drink anything before it but my midwife never said anything the last time I was in. Hmm...

Feeling a little better today as well thankfully, no sickness today but just this god awful nausea as per usual! Hope everyone else is having a good HG day!

DeadDoorpost · 19/10/2017 12:19

Had my first antenatal group thing today. Also had/having my letting agents come round to inspect the place but not sure if they've been already or coming later...
I've barely had any sleep the last 2 days so I'm really struggling now.

BlueButTrue · 19/10/2017 12:39

spearo I had my glucose test a few days ago.

You fast for 12 hours, so usually from about 10/12 at night to 9am when your appointment is... They should give you the appointment as early as possible because it’s a fasting test. You can only have water.

They call you in and give you a glucose drink. Before this they take your blood.

Then you wait for 2 hours in the waiting area Grin and after those two hours are up, they take your bloods again to see how your body has reacted to the glucose.

Hope that helps Flowers

TwoDrifters · 19/10/2017 13:11

Just delurking to say well done to all for hanging on in there and sorry but welcome to all new sufferers!

No news/nothing to report on the TTC front. Although reading some of the posts on here, I once again ask myself why I am willingly attempting to go through the evils of HG again!

I know it doesn’t help when you’re in the thick of it and each day drags on, but the weeks will eventually pass, they WILL and then it’ll all be over and so SO worth it!

Chin up, everyone! Gentle hugs to all Flowers

spearo21 · 19/10/2017 13:44

Thanks @BlueButTrue My midwife has never mentioned any of that too me. My appointment isn't until 10:40 though! Just as well i don't eat much in the morning then but I do need to go in and get my flu jab first before I see MW. This will be a long long day in the waiting room then. Better make sure I bring a book.

Mustang27 · 19/10/2017 14:18

Spearo my hospital let me go away and come back for the two hours. I just came home it’s 20 mins there and back but I knew I’d feel iller sitting in the hospital in that heat. Plus 2yr olds are not easily occupied lol. It’s worth checking. Also definitely fasting my midwife said nothing either about it luckily I knew.

Two I’m sad you still don’t have any news it sucks ttc. Maybe just maybe you will avoid HG.

I take it your test was negative Blue? Did I miss that, sorry.

Good news on the test front Natsku, it’s bloody awful stuff isn’t it.

Dead just sleep if you can I’m sure your letting agents will cope regardless.

Bunny I just got mine on amazon il see if I can get you a link.

Haha Shehz I doubt it but to be fair spd nearly did put me in a wheelchair last time.

Hey polli glad you found us. How you feeling?

Mustang27 · 19/10/2017 14:19

Haha @justtheonethen I don’t think anyone else has realised I trust you to keep my secret Grin
