I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Blue, have you contacted your midwife about that? Could be that baby has moved position, fluid levels changed or something, but definitely should get that checked out.

I'm exhausted. I mean like ridiculously exhausted. I went out for a few hours yesterday, went to bed at 7.30pm, didn't get up until midday today (not sleeping all that time as hip, back, knees and everything now aches). Migrated to the sofa, now lying in bed again. I haven't done it but felt like I could nap several times today. Is this normal for late third trimester? Or partly due to the HG? The tiredness seems absurd. Luckily just some on off nausea here, no vomiting recently.

BlueButTrue · 12/09/2017 18:28

Lemon I haven't, no. I did a quick Google and everyone seems to reply to the posters that it's normal as baby changes positions etc.

It feels incredibly weird... I look down and I can see everything I could seen before second and third trimester again Blush Should be a good thing but a bit odd whilst still pregnant.

I think I'll give my MW a text

DeadDoorpost · 12/09/2017 19:00

Blue I find my bump changes all the time as well but not that much. Definitely speak to midwife just in case. Better to be safe than sorry.

DeadDoorpost · 12/09/2017 19:03

Oh and Lemon Its probably a mixture of the two. I'm exhausted all the time even after doing very little. I think after being so ill for so long your body is just exhausted from trying to look after 2 people. I'd rest up as much as possible. I know for me part of the problem is my low iron levels. Is that possible for you as Well?

LucindaE · 12/09/2017 19:44

Lonc2012 I have heard that injections of cyclizine are really effective. Glad you are getting fluids.
BlueButTrue It might be an idea to contact the medics, just for reassurance. I don't suppose that could be the baby's head engaging as it's so early? That makes the bump go down a bit.
Lemondrop Poor you. You are fully entitled to be exhausted, after a Hyperemesis pregnancy.
DeadDoorPost I meant to express my horror at the midwife 'pulling out the placenta'. Your poor mother!
dillydollydarling I do hope you got the Ondansetron.
I hope everyone is more or less coping.
This grim weather is at least not too hot for sufferers.

LucindaE - I feel like a new person! Been given the tablet form so fingers crossed it works for me!

Mustang27 · 13/09/2017 09:19

Keeping everything crossed for you LONC2012.

My bump changes all the time too Blue but if your worried or struggling for movement call triage and go up and get checked.

Hope Lemon and Dead find some energy soon it's hard working growing a little person so just rest when you can

LucindaE · 13/09/2017 10:06

Lonc2012 That is great news. Like Mustang, I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Mustang How are things with you now? You have given excellent support to others, but not said a lot about how things are with you, unless I have missed it.

Still being sick 2/3 times a day wretch a lot more but I'm managing to keep food &a water down mostly so it's a lot better than most. Tend to over do it most of the time so end up exhausted and not functioning lol.

Had a lovely pregnancy massage at the weekend would highly recommend it felt so zen. Wish I'd taken myself off with a book in a cosy coffee shop (smell is fine still can't drink it) but had to rush to get ready for a family birthday engagement.

Baby feels really low all if a sudden but I'm only 26 weeks any body on their second or more experienced this and still fine full term?

Oh and there is some random guy walking up and down my street with a giant drill should I be worried lol

Oklahoma · 13/09/2017 14:37

Lemon I'm exactly the same on the exhaustion, I frequently have two naps a day. I think it's a combination of third trimester and cumulative HV effect.

Mustang with Oklette I carried her really really low and her head was engaged from really early on. It's uncomfortable from a walking and needing to wee frequently perspective but helps with the heartburn. I went full term with no problem so I think it's just one of those things. Ask your MW if you're worried though.

Ameliablue · 13/09/2017 14:41

I notice many people say they can only manage carb rich foods like crisps etc. I seem to be the opposite and have to eat protein rich foods, so I'm tending to eat a lot of chicken but I'm trying to think of other things to eat particularly for snacks and breakfast. Does anyone else find they need protein and if so what sort of things do you eat?

BlueButTrue · 13/09/2017 15:00

Amelia I'm the same! Carb rich foods are just too much for me and make me nauseous.

However, I'm a vegetarian so my options are limited Sad Bacon/ham etc would definitely go down well with me

satsoooma · 13/09/2017 15:52

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I have posted as I am generally feeling much better and have managed a couple of holidays recently, so not been around much. When we booked the holidays we were really worried I wouldn't even be able to make the journey, but it all turned out fine in the end. I just needed more naps than usual.

I've tried to catch up on everyone's posts, but sure I have missed loads.

Pippa how is the GD/HG diet going? I don't know the details of a GD diet, but I have spent a lot of time working on my diet while TTC with PCOS, which is somewhat realted to diabetes. Have you thought of adding fat to your diet to stop you losing weight? I am thinking of things like adding loads of butter to any veg, extra cheese on everything and snacking on nuts. Not usre if that would contradict the advice you have been given.

Sorry to hear about the anemia Dead. I found the iron pills made me start throwing up again, so I am currently only taking one a day (just before bed). The midwife has told me to try asking my GP for liquid iron, as apparently it is easier on the stomach.

Amelia you could try yoghurt for breakfast/snacks, especially greek yoghurt. I think nuts can also be high protein.

DeadDoorpost · 13/09/2017 16:12

satsooma I've just taken my first one as they only came in today. Slept until half 12 today after 2 weeks or so of bad sleep. It was so nice to have all that extra sleep but feeling tired again. Probably due to the walking I did there and back to Asda. I did however treat myself to getting some baby socks (little bits at a time here)

satsoooma · 13/09/2017 16:44

I have not bought anything yet Dead but I always stop by the baby clothes section of the supermarket when I am feeling down. Everything is so soft and small Smile

LucindaE · 13/09/2017 19:46

Mustang Two to three times is bad enough 'only' to be sick a day! I'm glad it is better than it was, though.
BlueButTrue How about vegetarian chicken nuggets? Did you get reassurance about flattening bump from medics?
satsooma Nice to hear from you. I am so glad that you were able to enjoy a couple of holidays. I've heard that too, about liquid iron supplements being less likely to make you vomit - I wonder they don't offer it more to women on here.
Waves to ameliablue and all. Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

NonStopDisco · 14/09/2017 01:12

Morning all, not been around for a while as just been exhausted- everything feels like a slog and SPD has got me in agony even getting out of bed.
I didn't realise the liquid iron was easier on stomach- GPS just advised that I cut down to one tablet a day and see if that was ok. Felt much better and more alive for taking them though!

LucindaE · 14/09/2017 10:31

NonStopDisco Poor old you - I am sorry things haven't greatly improved. It is really hard on those who suffer throughout. A lot of women on here just can't keep those iron tablets down at all, and it is startling that so few are offered those drops. I had never even heard of them until quite recently.
I do hope things are already moving for MamaBear and son will be for Lemondrop. I almost hesitate to put up the Due Dates List for that reason, and also, because nobody has yet volunteered to replace justtheone. We never heard again from the wonderfully funny RubyReins and I hope she is OK.

The liquid iron is more expensive which is probably why it's not offered so readily. Was offered readily for me because its not subscribed in the prescription here so I had to pay full price :(

How long do these hormonal surges last? Would like to feel better already! Also starting to get too uncomfortable to ride my bike to work as I get bigger but it's over an hour walk otherwise so reluctant to do that either.

BlueButTrue · 14/09/2017 13:20

Lucinda I really like those! And their vegetarian chicken style KFC things in Asda.

I managed to keep a spaghetti bolognese (you use quorn mince), and it was lovely. Really happy with that so trying to persuade DH to do it again tonight Grin (he cooks, I clean)

Mammabear13 · 14/09/2017 18:45

Lemon I had a real energy slump around 38 weeks and everything was a struggle. Have had more energy the last week but still not lots, I think it's not surprising given all we go through! Are you able to rest as you need to?

I am still going here - 41 weeks now. Everything looks fine with baby and me, but had another attempted sweep today and rather discouragingly it does not look like this baby will be appearing anytime soon. I'm hoping his chilled out attitude to arriving will carry on in life :-)

Oklahoma · 14/09/2017 20:59

Natsku I have found the last anything from about five days to a couple of weeks. They're grim. Lots of sympathy. I found the ones around 20 week and 24 weeks were both pretty awful.

Natsku · 14/09/2017 21:07

I'm 21 weeks on Saturday, hoping it won't last much longer as its really getting me down although I know I'm much much luckier than the rest of you as my med gets me through most of the day almost symptom-free (was symptom-free until the hormone surge) but by evening its wearing off. Really should just stick to going to bed really early (most days I go at the same time as DD) to avoid it but sometimes I just want to stay up and then regret it.

LucindaE · 14/09/2017 21:08

MamaBear Poor you. I am glad that at least you retain your sense of humour.
Oklahoma Good advice.
Natsku That's intriguing and the obvious answer!
BlueButTrue Good news about veggie dishes...
I hope everyone is more or less OK. I saw part of such an annoying programme on television, some consumer thing, the other day, insisting that GINGER is as good as prescription anti emetics. I had to turn over quickly, I was so annoyed, but I really should have checked where they got their research to make such a fatuous allegation.

Natsku Sorry your meds wear off before you even get the chance to enjoy some you time Flowers

Lucinda I tried some new vegetarian sausages again today. Really wish I hadn't Blush I've been very pukey this evening!

31 weeks now and cannot wait for this little monster to be out... Please be a good sleeper Baby Blue Grin
