I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thinking I might attempt a banana sandwich soon. Taken a notion for one.

DeadDoorpost · 05/10/2017 23:15

To whoever it was who said about meds becoming less effective yes, they can do. Happened to me 3 times.. cyclizine stopped working after 1.5 weeks, metaclopramide stopped after the week or whatever it was I had it for (and resulted in me losing half a stone in one day I threw up that much) and the ondansetron has had to be upped now. Thus doesn't however mean that all hope is not lost. It just means that uvee not found the right balance yet.
Lucinda no he hasn't the little pain. He's just as stubborn as ever and refusing to move. I've given up. The Spinning Babies advice doesn't seem to be doing much and he seems to be quite comfortable so who knows.

Natsku · 06/10/2017 08:13

It seems doctors aren't really sure what qualifies sickness as HG. They have 4 different diagnoses over here - pregnancy sickness, early pregnancy sickness, HG, and unspecified pregnancy sickness, but the HG society here says any one of them can be HG as they overlap each other so much. I haven't had the specifically HG diagnosis despite two hospital admissions for fluids but have had two of the other ones and 'risk pregnancy' as well. Its all confusing - the way I figure it, if the sickness stops you being able to deal with your normal routine etc. then its HG.

seizethecuttlefish · 06/10/2017 08:18

Right, I'm now on the two drugs that weren't working together, to see if that helps. I have a uti, who knew? So antibiotics for that. The hospital can't give the ondansetron as a discharge drug but have written to my dr advising he can and that he can add it to the medical cocktail. I was entertaining myself, counting up all the things I'm taking a day. Including the antibiotics it's 13 pills a day. Lucky I'm not superstitious GrinNeed to call the dr today, as I'm meant to be back at work on Monday and that doesn't look likely.
How we all doing?

seizethecuttlefish · 06/10/2017 08:22

@Natsku where are you? I don't they really have a clue here(UK). And the thing is, I think you need to speak to the patient and see what she says. It's not just physical, it's the mental impact too. I think drs like nice, neat boxes and the human body doesn't often oblige. Hope you're doing ok?

Natsku · 06/10/2017 08:40

I'm in Finland - it seems to really vary by doctor here. When I was pregnant with DD I was very sick but the midwives and doctors just told me it was normal and I received no treatment whatsoever whereas this time I've been treated since 9 weeks (and just got my meds renewed again, was slightly worried they'd not renew them as they keep saying its very rare to still be sick at this point and want me to try being without them but every time I try I get so sick, I can't bear it).

I'm in a small town now and I think that's really helpful in regards to hospital treatment - there's always a bed at A&E because its not that busy ehre and they give me fluids before they even test my urine and blood, based on my description of symptoms and looking at me (seeing physical signs of dehydration)

Natsku · 06/10/2017 08:40

Eek 13 a day!!

Mustang27 · 06/10/2017 10:15

Oh god seize how the feck do they expect you to keep 13 tablets a day down with hg. I got 3 uti’s with mini mustang 1 but none this time it was bloody depressing. I honestly really feel for you.

Lemondrop99 · 06/10/2017 10:15

Just dropping by quickly to report no news here. Full moon let me down Angry and I threw up yesterday after having been vomit free for a week. I'll be a whole week overdue tomorrow and honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of being stuck in limbo now. Oh well, midwife will set an induction date at my appointment tomorrow. Sorry I haven't kept up with the full thread today, I'm busy sulking....

Natsku · 06/10/2017 10:19

Damn full moon!

Hairgician · 06/10/2017 10:32

Starting to think my meds are not working the same. Managed a banana sandwich about an hour ago and so far so good. Dp also bought me a big bottle of coke. So flat coke today again. My poor teeth though, mouth feels furry and can't stand that metallic taste!

DeadDoorpost · 06/10/2017 10:45

I hate the furry feeling too hair and usually just brush my teeth with water rather than toothpaste if I know I'm not going to stomach the taste of it.
Sorry the full moon didn't do anything Lemon. Go head and sulk.
I'm doing some Christmas shopping today while I feel decent enough.

BlueButTrue · 06/10/2017 11:20

Hello all! How is everyone? There's too much for me to catch up on Grin

It's been a bad week - Suspected preeclampsia so was in hospital. One Dr even said yes it is that.

Turns out it is not that. I'm having an endoscopy later today as I seem to have burst a stomach ulcer. If that's the case, baby Blue will have to make an early appearance due to the risk of blood poisoning and me being Rhesus D.

I'm bloody fed up now.

Natsku · 06/10/2017 11:24

Oh no Blue :(

Hairgician · 06/10/2017 11:37

Aw Blue that's awful news! Hope everything gets sorted!

seizethecuttlefish · 06/10/2017 11:37

Blue I had preeclampsia with my first. Ended up being induced.
Lemon can't believe the full moon let you down. Can nothing be relied on?

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 06/10/2017 11:39

Mmmm banana sandwiches! I used to drink banana milkshake with DD1 as it was the best tasting food to vomit (sorry).

Phoned dr today and they're going to add metchlopramide into the cyclazine and prochloperazine mix. Odd how they can wear off. The prochloperazine definitely still works as I forgot to take them to work yesterday and really paid for it later on. Finding I'm better off eating slowly all morning as I can't manage much et all past 2pm. Sigh. I've had melon for tea a lot this week Grin

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 06/10/2017 11:40

Sorry to hear you're all still suffering Flowers

DeadDoorpost · 06/10/2017 13:12

That sucks for you Blue but better to have a safely delivered baby than risk it. At least you know he'll be looked after!
Batman yeah I've found at times that by dinner I dont really fancy much. Toast or rich tea biscuits ends up being the usual dinner atm.
Christmas shopping went well. DH seems to only want stuff that'll be useful like deodorant and shaving blades so at least it's nothing I can't get last minute. He did also say condoms but I think he's hedging his bets for New Year 😂😂 (ain't gonna happen coz last one the condom broke and I wasn't ready to be pregnant. Not risking it again 😂😂😂 ) he's just gonna have to go without.

pippanippa · 06/10/2017 13:14

Sorry to hear that Blue, I hope everything goes well and it turns out to be a false alarm, a burst ulcer sounds incredibly painful! Lemondrop how disappointing for you - definitely entitled to a sulk!

Not great news here, it seems IUGR is likely - cause unknown as yet, maybe just a small baby, maybe placenta, maybe chromosomal (but small risk). Bump is now measuring 5 weeks behind, and scan below tenth percentile. Lots of extra appointment for monitoring etc so am very well looked after, but can't help but worry whilst waiting to see if baby grows some more before the next scan. In the meantime vomiting pretty badly and have now got a cold too.

I wanted to ask, those of you taking extra iron - can you do this without prescription / what would you recommend? I meant to ask the Dr today but with everything else I just forgot - I've been feeling so exhausted lately and my iron levels were pretty low last time they were tested, but that was a while ago now.

Mustang27 · 06/10/2017 13:42

Pippa my heart goes out to you what a shot time of it you are having.

I was going to ask for you Blue I’m sorry about your ulcer my oh just got diagnosed yesterday with one they sound truly unpleasant but absolutely cruel on top of an hg pregnancy.

You are so organised Dead.

Mustang27 · 06/10/2017 13:48

Oops didn’t mean to post iv no excuse either as mini is sleeping, he normally presses the phone and posts early for me lol.

I feel ridiculously low today ladies 30 weeks on Sunday and I just can’t shake this horrible low foreboding mood. Very teary and unmotivated. I feel guilty as there really is very little that should make me feel like this.

Love a banana sandwich Hair with loads of salty butter (I know I’m a weirdo)

Fuck you Moon on behalf of Lemon lol. The wait is the worst for sure.

I’m the same as you Batman and Dead no appetite when dinner comes round I had two mini corn on the cobs last night and the night before some rice with peas, meh. It’s making cooking and feeding my boys very dull and a bit rage inducing.

Does that make you higher risk this pregnancy Seize?

DeadDoorpost · 06/10/2017 14:45

That really does suck pippa but fingers crossed for you that they either work out what's been causing it or that at least everything else goes smoothly. As for iron I have no idea but I know you can buy separate iron tablets to take.. don't know how many you'll need but it's worth looking into?
mustang I have to be organised as we live 350miles from family and they'll be coming down to see BabyDoor once he's here so they can take the presents back with them then. We're not likely to be seeing them for a couple of months after anyway so they'd be super late presents!

Hairgician · 06/10/2017 14:51

Ok so not managing to keep food down todayEnvy fluids on their own is fine though. Banana sambo earlier made a 're appearance. Not pleasant!
Yes to salty butter! (And has to be Kerry gold, it is the king of butter) and banana has to be sliced not mashed!
Anyone else obsessed with cooking shows? Can't stop watching them.

seizethecuttlefish · 06/10/2017 14:54

Pippa sorry to hear about mini p. No experience but thinking of you.
You lot have convinced me to use my time wisely and start my Christmas shopping. I have 4 birthdays and 2 anniversaries between now and then, so better get organised.
Mustang low moods suck. I think pregnancy hormones are satanic in origin. Between low moods and weird dreams, it's all about potty.
