I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I'm so grateful that the ward I was on told me to ring them directly if we ever needed to. I've just rung them as I know I'm getting dehydrated again and my husband wanted me to speak to them. They said if I was to go in now, they'd keep me in overnight. I can't do that so I've opted to go in tomorrow morning for fluids. I feel like such a failure. Everyone keeps telling me all I need to do is keep drinking. I'm trying but it's hard when it comes straight back up :(

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 18:04

Lemondrop99 wholeheartedly cheering for you! So close to the Pink Castle! I just felt such a rish of excitement for you when I realised it was your due date today Grin
Crossing fingers for 5th October latest!

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 18:06

-rush of excitement- sorry typo

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 18:14

Lemon il send you mini mustang to wobble your bump lol. Get on your birthing ball, have all the sex and drink raspberry leaf tea.

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 18:15

Dilly have you tried just sucking ice cubes?

DeadDoorpost · 30/09/2017 20:16

dilly I kept being told exactly the same thing and I just couldn't keep fluids down at all either. Even with ice lollies I was barely keeping anything down. At least you know you'll be seen if you go in.

Seaside town was lovely. They had a music festival on so we also got to hear music despite the rain. Chippy chips were good, also tried venison for the first time. AND I GOT NACHOS AND JALAPENOS AND I'M JUST SO HAPPY to be able to eat something I actually love without being sick.
Also saw a dog (lots of dogs) but the attached photo dog is my favourite I saw today. Rather happy now.

Thanks all, feeling a bit better now. Finished the nursery today so that's cheered me up.

Ha, thanks for the advice Mustang. I'll give some of it a go, but I couldn't imagine for one minute the logistics of attempting sex right now 😂 🙈

Looks like you had a fab day Door. Mmmmm nachos! It's so nice to have a bit of normality, isn't it?

Sympathy to you Dilly Sad Keeping hydrated is definitely easier said than done. These might have already been suggested but have you tried ice lollies, jelly, sipping Lucosade, juice from tinned fruit? I found sugary fluids stayed down easier than plain water.

Lemon, have you posted the photo of the Hogwarts mural on here before or am I remembering it or someone else's from a group I'm in on FB? Either way it looks lovely.
And yes, normality is nice. Hopefully it'll continue with pancakes for breakfast tomorrow... DH has been treating me whixh is nice

Lemondrop99 · 30/09/2017 21:14

Yeah, we had the mural painted in July and I think I shared it then. Took us ages to get the rest of the room sorted out though.

Enjoy your pancakes!! Good old DH

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 21:22

Lemon your nursery is beautiful.

Sexy time spooning lol everything is supported that way. I say this like I’m a pro honestly I prefer sleep now but it will likely be a good few weeks months years maybe never lol after baby so it’s nice to get some intimacy in beforehand.

Dead what a lovely day by the sounds of it. Definitely one cute dog although your pic of nachos made me feel a bit green Envy not in envy but when not pregnant that would be an ideal meal to me, pregnancy is weird lol. I mean I’d eat a jar of jalapeños as a snack prior to bump now I can’t even smell spicy/hot without vomit, sad times.

Sorry Dilly I hope my ice cube comment didn’t come across badly, I just wondered if the slow trickle would be better than sips. I’m sorry you are struggling so.

Had a really rough few days sickness wise I’m actually contemplating taking my ondansetron again Sad

DeadDoorpost · 30/09/2017 21:28

Mustang I know what you mean I love spicy food and the baby seems to as well but I just can't eat anything too hot atm as it does make me fee a bit sick. DH had the majority of them. I ended up eating 2 by accident but they weren't that hot so all is good.
Lemon may be from then I remember it then but I've seen so many potter related things recently it's all blurring into one

LucindaE · 30/09/2017 21:42

Problems with updates on PC - Grrr- wasted hours getting nowhere.
Oh dear, lots of suffering.
NerNerNerNerNerNerBatman (not sure how many 'Ners' - welcome. Congratulations on your second pregnancy. As you are a veteran, you don't need my advice about kesostix from chemists to check on the early stages of dehydration, and I am glad that lollies and soda water are helping a bit. I hope you get meds asap. You'll find lots of support from the wonderful women on here. What meds were you on last time? I do hope that they helped and you can get them again asap.
Bunnyfluffy Don't worry- many of the drugs have been tried for decades, as others say, and there are risks to the baby with untreated dehydration that lasts too long.
dillydollydarling. Poor you. I see others have recommended the juice of tinned fruit, Lucozade and ice cubes. Is flat coke no good? Do you have any fizzy orange gone flat or Dr Pepper to hand?

AndInShort Please don't rush back to work; I know it's miserable being isolated, but tiredness makes the symptoms much worse. Have you tried audio books or the radio for destration?
Mustang That is sweet! Aah.
DeadDoorPost That is happy news. Is that a husky? I remember seeing a huge amount of dogs at Whitby. Not sure when the dogs at the seaside things started?
Seizethecuttlefish I'm annoyed with myself - with my awful scrawled writing I can't read my message to you.
Lemondrop09 You have done an expert job with that nursery.
Glad that UnbornMortificado has had her baby. Sorry to hear of your disappointment, cyber pats on offer if required. Here's the new due dates list with you at the top, waddling purposefully towards the fabled Pink Castle (and I haven't redeocrated it yet!). I've wondered about FlapAttack and also RubyReins . I hope they are doing OK.

Shehz21 and justtheone and everyone, I hope coping - more or less.
It's not fair that pregnancy should be like this.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

Loosemoose28 · 30/09/2017 22:57

Is there anyone on here not actually vomiting, I have reached a point where I don't understand why I can't bring anything up. Im actully sick once or twice max but the feeling to be is almost constant. I have travel bands, cyclizine and ondansatron.

Im not really vomiting just spending my whole day dry heaving- its horrible. My belly actually hurts and my throat sore and bleeds when I do vomit. And because I am not actually bringing anything up OH just thinks I am being moany about it all. I keep drinking a good half pint water before bed in hope I get relief and actually bring something up- sounds awful but the times I am sick feel better for a hour or two after.

Sorry need to let off a bit. I really feel for those of you that spend pregnancy in and out of hospital for hydration and gratefull that no matter how shit this feels I am well hydrated and over all well. Flowers

Natsku · 01/10/2017 01:07

It's 3am and I haven't slept at all because I keep sicking up tiny bits of acid in my mouth :( OH's snoring doesn't help either...

Shehz21 · 01/10/2017 05:20

Hey LucindaE
Yeah coping so far by sleeping my days away..
My hips are gonna be covered with bed sores anytime soon.

Lemondrop99 that's a beautiful nursery you have there. You and OH must have put a lot of efforts into that. Love those curtains!

Loosemoose28 The nausea can be crippling sometimes and MUCH WORSE than the actual vomiting. That sense of relief that comes after getting sick, well it doesn't happen with the nausea and it really is a debilitating condition. I have found Phenergan/Avomine/Promethazine helps with my nausea a lot. But the downside is it knocks you out for hours on end.. not the best situation if you have other DC to look after or currently working.

Natsku I woke up at 5 with the same. Does ranitidine not work for that? I ran out of mine but usually it worked for me. DH is snoring away as well but he does so much after work including cleaning the house and cooking food that I can't resent him.

Shehz21 · 01/10/2017 05:25

AndInShortIWasAfraid her due date is 27th of March!
Yay finally not last on due date list.

Mustang27 · 01/10/2017 07:40

Loose mostly I’m just dry heaving and feeling like I have the worst hangover x100. I’d normally do a bile run as soon as I’m up which is horrible and can be a good twenty minutes heaving up that nasty yellow stuff then il either puke a bit of one of my meals in a day the rest of the day it’s just nausea and it’s bloody awful. The last week vomiting has ramped up 4/5 times a day resulting in the loss of a whole meal at least once.

pippanippa · 01/10/2017 08:38

Welcome to all the new people, I hope some of you are having better days, sorry for all of those feeling down and lonely, it is just horrible.

Loosemoose dry heaves and nausea are awful, especially when they hurt your stomach and throat, I hope it eases a little soon. dilly I hope you have a better day today and going in for fluids helps. Lemon glad the nursery is all ready, it looks beautiful!

Same old here, pretty much the same story as Mustang. Slightly concerned by lack of weight gain in the last month...again (actually lost a couple of kilos), but have various appointments this week which will hopefully reassure. The GD is not going so great, previously 'safe' foods now seem to send glucose levels high, so have had to amend diet again which I'm sure is contributing to weightloss (I just can't get enough calories in when I lose at least a meal a day and can't resort to high carbs/sugar to make up for it). Still, grateful not to be in the first half of pregnancy awfulness, sorry to those of you still there, it's a long road.

Natsku · 01/10/2017 09:22

I've been taking omeprazole Shezh which was helping but doesn't seem to help any more. I'm going to call the maternity clinic tomorrow to get an appointment with the OB but I think that means waiting until Thursday. I think I ate a bit too much, too late in the evening yesterday so maybe that was it. Just want to be able to eat today because OH is cooking my birthday dinner and making me a cake today.

LucindaE · 01/10/2017 10:19

Aha! I will add weasledee and AndInShortIwasAfraid.
I am going to be boring and go on about anti acids. They have really helped so many people on here - lovely MotherofPearl was one.

Natsku Happy Birthday! Flowers Sorry about awful acid regurgetation in the small hours. I do hope you manage your dinner and cake. CakeWell, baby will be the best belated present ever. Can you wheedle any more effective anti acid out of the medics? It sounds as if you need it, and it would make such a difference to nausea and vomiting.
Loosemoose28 Poor you; oh dear, that sounds truly awful. It is unfortunate that often the meds help with the nausea. Again, I wonder if, as with others, an anti acid might help? OH shouldn't be dismissive; how would he feel with a hangover that lasted for months? You are hardly 'well' if you are retching all the time.
Mustang Oh, no. That must be really painful. Again on my spree about anti acids, which one are you on? A twenty minutes bile run sounds hideous, but I see the problem; you can't exactly take one in your sleep, even if you take on last thing.
Shehz21 It is probably best to sleep away much of this suffering - awful as it sounds.

pippasnippa Oh dear, about GD worries. I wish I could think of anything to suggest. I have no idea how women cope with the conflicting types of diet you are meant to be on with it combined with Hyperemesis.
Let's hope Lemondrop has an occupant for her wonderful nursery soon.
