I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@Bunnyfluffy Hello! I remember when I was 6 weeks pregnant I was absolutely debilitated with nausea. Unfortunately it was the beginning of hyperemesis for me, which really kicked in at 7 weeks. Going to GP early and getting meds might help you from progressing to full blown vomiting as some research has shown that women do better if their vomiting / sickness is treated earlier. In my experience, there is nothing that can really help with the nausea. It's absolutely horrendous and that commute sounds like hell! GPs are absolute shites. Be prepared to be fobbed off!

Bunnyfluffy · 29/09/2017 21:07

Many thanks for the advice.
Are anti-sickness drugs 100% safe these days? I'm so nervous about taking anything

justtheonethen · 29/09/2017 21:15

Drugs like cyclizine have been used for absolutely years and are totally safe. I suggest you look at the treatment page of the website in OP to read about them all. Then get to the gp. In my experience I worried about it (needlessly) and left it too long when I could have not got to the throwing up all the time stage.

lucinda thank you for asking. Not great. Have spent most of today sobbing about how shit it all is and how lonely I am. I'm just so miserable at the moment Sad
How are you?

door that sounds scary. Do keep a close eye Flowers

Hello ladies, may I join you? I'm 6+4 with my second pregnancy. Remembering now why I vowed to have a larger than normal gap between pregnancies. I've been off work for two weeks with severe morning sickness and vertigo. I rarely vomit, but I feel like I'm about to 80% of the time, especially if I'm talking. The vertigo is relentless and I can't drive. I'm just moping around the bedroom drinking soda water and eating white carbs.

DH has been excellent but his patience is wearing a little. He struggles to understand how I'm fine one minute and then bed bound for the afternoon. It's doing my head in too. DD is enjoying watching more TV.

Currently sucking on an ice pop though at this threads suggestion which is quite enjoyable Grin

justtheonethen · 29/09/2017 21:22

ner soda and white carbs are your friends here! Get your DH to read this as it helped mine to understand.

Here's a link to a very helpful Health Service funded website that outlines the safety of all sorts of drugs/substances in pregnancy; my GP told me about it after I expressed a reticence towards prochloperazine

www.medicinesinpregnancy.org

I'm on cyclazine and prochloperazine and have found them helpful

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 29/09/2017 21:23

Thank you just that's exactly what I was after!!

Mustang27 · 29/09/2017 21:30

Well iv ended my day from hell with the grumpiest toddler with him falling asleep cuddling my bump, it’s actually pretty bloody adorable. Let’s hope he loves the baby as much as the fat belly.

Justtheonethen that’s not a good way to spend your days Hun. Iv been quite teary today it’s getting quite close to a full moon must be that for me lol. Any way maybe give your midwife a call and let her know how you are feeling they may get you to see someone antenatally for potential depression. You are much better to try and nip it in the bud now if you can.

Bunny the pills are fine and there is a lot of evidence to back that up too. Trust me if you need them take them. It’s no fun to vomit thirty times a day whilst feeling like you have just got off a merry go round. Don’t suffer needlessly.

DeadDoorpost · 29/09/2017 21:34

bunny and don't forget to push for stronger ones if the ones you get given don't help at all. No-one should be left to suffer. Everyone reacts differently to the drugs though so don't panic if what works for the majority doesn't work for you. We're all on different concoctions of some kind.

Lucinda thank. Keeping an eye on it. It's certainly not dehydration related so that's why I'm concerned more than I usually would be. And considering I've been feeling rough today and have some under rib pains... fingers crossed definitely.

AndInShortIWasAfraid · 29/09/2017 23:19

Thank you ladies, I do feel better about the steroids. I've had a bad few days, I'm on a reducing dosage and the lower dosage of Prednisolone doesn't seem to be as effective. The hospital gave me Fresubin (sp?) to help with the weight loss so I'm surviving on those.

I just feel miserable and robbed of a lovely pregnancy. I've been off work since the beginning of August and I'm home alone all day. DH got back at 7pm and then made a two hour work call and is now asleep. I can't watch tv or use screens as it makes the HG worse so I've just been sat in silence all day for the last two months. I may go back to work just for the company.

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 07:01

@Bunnyfluffy and @NerNer hey there ladies! Ah you have already gotten loads of helpful advice. Hoping you guys get the appropriate medecines to help you get through the horrible early stages.
You don't want to wish your life away, but I am hoping this time speeds up for you ladies as it is absolutely unbearable. Know that you are not alone Smile

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 07:05

Mustang27 mini mustang cuddling your bump sounds totally adorable! Probably the start of them getting along?!Grin

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 07:12

AndInShortIWasAfraid I'm sorry you are feeling so low. The feeling of being robbed of a lovely pregnancy is shared :(
Never in life would I have thought that pregnancy could be like this. From tv shows to books to movies, everything portrays pregnancy as the most wonderful time of a woman's life. Lies!!
Maybe you should still get the rest as getting to work and in turn getting tired can make things worse?
Still hoping to wake up at 16 weeks or 20 weeks to the sick feeling magically gone...

Natsku · 30/09/2017 07:44

Commiserations to the newcomers - definitely ask for meds, there's no sense in suffering when we have safe medications these days.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/09/2017 09:53

Anyone any experience of prochlorperazine? The hospital gave me them yesterday. Still retching constantly but not being sick. Wondering how long they should take to work. They're also making me feel dizzy. Confused
Just sounds like we're all having a really rubbish time of it!

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 10:18

Hey sieze when I eventually got a gp that took me seriously (his wife was a Hg sufferer) he worked up to the stronger pills still but he said 2/3 days max due to the risk of dehydration and stuff. You might find you end up on a concoction of pills before you get something that works for you.

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 10:19

Sheh21 I can only hope he is quite a loving wee guy.

DeadDoorpost · 30/09/2017 10:32

cuttlefish I found that for me the prochlorperazine did absolutely nothing but by then my body was rejecting pretty much everything. I'd gone through 2 lots of tablets already and they'd been effective for a week and then stopped. It does seem to work for others though.
Lucinda you'll be glad to hear al symptoms see to have gone! I've also had a very decent nights sleep and DH and I are going to the seaside town!!! Finally.

Shehz21 · 30/09/2017 12:54

DeadDoorpost Hope you enjoy seaside town, icecream and choc chips!

Natsku · 30/09/2017 13:33

Enjoy your chippy chips Dead I'm jealous, miss chippy chips (can't get decent chips in Finland)

Bunnyfluffy · 30/09/2017 13:59

Does anyone else find that a symptom of pregnancy sickness is constantly feeling like they need to rush to the loo with diarrhoea? Blush

Mustang27 · 30/09/2017 15:35

Bunny I have had that symptom since week 6 the only time I wasn’t (I have ibs and coeliac to boot) was when I was taking ondansetron and the constipation and sluggish digestive system was torture I had to stop taking it as I was happier rushing to the loo. Pregnancy is not bloody glamorous.

Lemondrop99 · 30/09/2017 15:48

Hi Bunny, glad you found your way over. I felt pretty guilty about taking the drugs initially. I got a prescription from the GP, tried not to take it and caved after three days. I simply had no choice, there was no way I could cope without. Several weeks later and I'd ploughed through several different kinds of drugs!! If you need the pills, you need them. No use piling unnecessary guilt on yourself too.

Waves to the new members. Sorry I can't quite keep up with this thread at the moment, but sorry you've had to join us Sad

Due date here looks like it's going to come and go without a baby. I spent this morning throwing up. I keep joking that vomit is this baby's lullaby and that I need the sound as an option on a white noise machine!

I then saw my midwife who couldn't give me a sweep, seemingly because I was there one day too early Sad I was gutted and came out and cried in the hospital car park!! Now nothing to do but wait until my appointment next week, where I should get a sweep if I haven't gone into labour by then.

However 5 October is a full moon so I'm pinning my hopes on that!!

Lucinda - I saw Unborn comment on another thread and I'm fairly sure her baby has arrived. So think I am finally top of the list, woooo! Anyone heard from Flap lately? Wondering how she's getting along.

dillydollydarling · 30/09/2017 15:48

The past 4 days or so I've been taking cyclizine, ondansetron and metaclopramide and still feeling sick all day and spend all evening throwing up. Fear I'm heading for another hospital visit. Had to leave work early again today and DH has suggested I get signed off work sick so at least I'd get sick pay.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/09/2017 16:01

Dilly I'm meant to be back at work on Monday, after my disastrous holiday but right now I have no idea how I'm doing it. If I sit up, I'm sick and retching constantly. Sick pay, here I come.
